Iran’s History in Photos: Ancient Temple of Anahita

Ancient Temple of Anahita 1

The Temple of Anahita is located in Kangavar, in the middle of Hamadan-Kermanshah road in western Iran, on the historical route of Ecbatana to Ctesiphon.

Based on historical records, this temple- the second stone building of Iran after Persepolis–  has been used as a fire temple to honour Anahita, the ancient Persian goddess of water, during Achaemenid, Parthian and Sassanid periods.
The ancient Iranians considered Anahita to be the guardian of water; the angel of abundance, beauty and fertility who had an elevated position.

Water and the goddess of water are focused in the building’s architecture. The corridors around the temple beautifully led the water to a square pool in the centre of the structure.

Heads of four bulls have been placed face to face on both sides of the temple, whose images reflected in water when the pool was flooded, making a legendary atmosphere.

A large number of burning marks exist on the stone plates of building, proving that it has been a temple.

It is not possible to determine the exact construction date of Anahita Temple, nor its type of use, architectural space and actual body, but it is attributed to the Parthian era. This great historical monument has been subject to several natural disasters, as well as both inadvertent and intentional human destruction.

Iranian Banks to Help Boost Crisis-Hit Tourism Industry

Iranian Banks to Help Boost Crisis-Hit Tourism Industry

Tourism Minister Ali-Asghar Mounesan sat down with the managing directors of Iranian banks and their deputies for credit affairs in order to boost synergy between the ministry and banks of different countries.

“At the moment, people from different walks of life, including the youth, are active in the tourism domain,” said Mounesan.

“Fortunately, we have seen very good growth and profits in this industry over the past few years,” the top official added.

“Before the coronavirus outbreak, tourism was growing well in the country. In the ten months to December 2020, more than eight million tourists entered the country, and if it weren’t for coronavirus, the figure would have touched 10 million,” he said.

“This is while the number of our tourist facilities have increased in recent years as well, so much so that the number of ecotourism units has risen to 2,000, which not only creates jobs and generates income for a village, but also creates jobs in nearby villages. The move has been welcome by foreign tourists,” he added.

He underlined that the global tourism trend is growing, and the industry will see good growth in our country, too.

In the meeting, managing directors of banks also presented reports on the most important measures adopted by their respective banks with regards to support for the tourism industry and handicrafts.

Iran’s Intelligence Ministry Busts Five Espionage Teams

Iran's Intelligence Ministry Busts Five Espionage Teams

A senior ministry official said the teams were involved in a range of activities against the Islamic Republic.

“Using a variety of complicated intelligence methods, foreign intelligence agents were seeking to spy on [Iran’s] nuclear, political, economic, military and infrastructural projects for the CIA, Mossad and intelligence services of certain European countries associated with the recent espionage cases,” said the deputy intelligence minister for counter-espionage.

“They intended to commit acts of sabotage against infrastructure and projects, further intensify unfair sanctions, keep the Islamic Republic of Iran from gaining access to modern knowhow and technologies, and create challenges in relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran with like-minded countries,” he added.

“These efforts and cowardly acts were foiled thanks to vigilance and intelligence information of the ministry’s agents,” he said.

The deputy intelligence minister warned all deceived individuals and mercenaries as well as covert and over enemies of Iran, and added Iranian intelligence apparatus keeps a close watch on every movement and firmly counter any conspiracies of enemies.

Europe Should Not Fall in US Trap, Rouhani Tells Macron

In a telephone call with the President of France Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday, President Rouhani said “based on Resolution 2231 of the United Nations Security Council, the arms embargo against Iran must be lifted as of October 18, and if the United States wants to do anything against it, it is a violation of the resolution.”

President Rouhani emphasised, “The preservation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and UN Security Council Resolution 2231 is a fundamental commitment for all countries that have remained in the JCPOA today,” he said.

“We expect that whether at the International Atomic Energy Agency or the Board of Governors and at the UN Security Council, there will be close consultation and cooperation between Iran and the three European countries, Russia and China to prevent the opponents of the JCPOA from achieving their goals.”

The President stated that the United States has no right to use the JCPOA mechanism, because it has withdrawn from the deal more than two years ago.

Rouhani also said that the US approach of imposing illegal and inhumane sanctions against Iran during the coronavirus pandemic is very ugly and in contradiction with international regulations and WHO resolutions.

He further stressed the need for European action to activate economic cooperation with Iran and cooperation in the fight against COVID-19.

Rouhani further pointed to the recent deadly blast in Beirut, and said, “It is very important that we all help the Lebanese judiciary to find the root causes of this incident.”

Referring to Iran’s aid delivery to Lebanon immediately after the incident, Rouhani said, “Lebanon needs more unity among political groups and we must all help create this unity. Lebanon today needs a strong government, and the Lebanese parliament and all parties must work together in this regard.”

He also welcomed the French president’s invitation for Iran to join the international action group to help resolve Lebanon’s problems.

Rouhani also pointed to the situation of coronavirus pandemic in countries around the world and the second wave of this disease, and emphasised the continued cooperation of countries to control the disease.

In turn, the French President said, “Our views on the extension of the arms embargo on Iran are quite different from those of the United States, and we have made this clear to them.”

Macron also noted, “We are taking steps to make the European financial system with Iran (INSTEX) more active.”

Referring to the situation in Lebanon after the horrific explosion in Beirut last week and his visit to Lebanon, the French president called on Iran to help resolve the Lebanese political crisis and invited Iran to join the international action group to resolve the Lebanon crisis.

Why Some Countries Deal with COVID-19 Outbreak Better Than Others

As cases in some regions continue to rise exponentially, we are forced to ask a rather interesting question. Why are certain nations seeming to fare better than others in regards to containing this outbreak? Have some governments discovered a “magic bullet” or are specific individuals somehow less likely to become ill? While studies are still ongoing, we should nonetheless take a look at some of the reasons why a handful of nations are continuing to struggle with this truly global pandemic.

The Ability to Access Viral-Related Information

Keeping the public informed at all times is one of the most effective ways to combat any type of health crisis. Some countries have been better than others at distributing the proper information at the appropriate times. Common examples include social distancing measures, the proper food safety protocols and the use of approved face masks. An informed public is more likely to adopt these and other measures. As a result, the spread of COVID-19 can be mitigated at an early stage.

Public Understanding and Responsibility

Another key issue to address is the attitude of the public towards this current threat. Some cultures have hesitated to adopt the appropriate measures out of fear or mistrust. Others simply refuse to believe that COVID-19 poses an active danger. This has already been seen in some nations within Africa. As a result, even those who may have been infected are less likely to seek This naturally increase the chances that they will spread the infection to friends, family members and the general public. If such cases go unreported, it is virtually impossible for the associated governments to appreciate the true spread of the infection.

Ineffective Top-Down Leadership Strategies

Finally, a handful of western governments failed to appreciate the gravity of the situation until the virus had already taken hold. The botched leadership of the Trump administration is a perfect example of this shortcoming. When we then take into account the spread of misinformation and referring to COVID-19 as “a little flu”, it becomes clear to see why the public authorities were embarrassingly inept at dealing with the crisis when it was still in its early stages. Ironically, some of these nations are the very same which have criticised other countries in the past for their lack of leadership during a major health scare.

The bottom line is that this current pandemic sill sooner or later come to an end. The main question is how many more individuals and cultures will need to suffer before some type of vaccine is made available. When we consider that cases are continuing to rise exponentially in some corners of the world, it is clear that governments need to work in unison in order to remain one step ahead of the curve. It is hoped that this will lead to a light at the end of the proverbial tunnel.

Iran’s Coronavirus Death Toll Nears 19,000

She said the high-risk “red” zones include Tehran, Mazandaran, Fars, East Azarbaijan, Isfahan, Ardabil, Khorasan Razavi, North Khorasan, Alborz, Semnan, Lorestan, Golestan, Kerman, Hormozgan, and Ilam provinces.
The “orange” zones also include West Azarbaijan, Bushehr, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Hormozgan, Zanjan, Hamadan, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Lorestan, Ilam, Fars, Qazvin, and Qom provinces, according to the spokeswoman.

Role of Interactive Learning and ICT in Students’ Academic Success

The psycho-pedagogical review of the traditionally established methods and forms of organizing and conducting classes in educational institutions shows that passive forms of learning prevail in the educational process in perceiving and mastering educational material. The task of the modern theory and practice of teaching is the creation of conditions for learning activities where students would strive to independently acquire new knowledge and later could successfully use them in their practical activities. Unfortunately, today it can be stated that the possibilities of using interactive methods in the classroom are not being sufficiently used. As practice shows, teachers conduct practical classes in the traditional method, where they are the main actor, and students are passive participants in the learning process, who occasionally have the opportunity to verbalize their knowledge, while the success of mastering the educational material depends on the student’s mental activity. Attempts to intensify the activity of students, for example, with the help of problem-based training, are often limited to the teacher’s formulation of a specific task and the explanation of the issue at hand. Some students from time to time buy home assignments written by professionals at custom dissertation writing service.

The use of interactive methods and cutting-edge software in the learning process has a definite impact on the development of the learner: it enhances the motivation of learning, communication with peers, enriches life experience, and activates self-development. A person is aware of the need for such communication-interaction. In modern pedagogy, interactive methods of education provide students with purposeful intensive inclusion in educational interaction, where the main goal is to solve specific educational problems. These methods open up opportunities for the personal growth of participants in this interaction. Students are not to just follow teacher’s instructions and recommendations but they strive for “outside-school” learning which definitely widens the worldview and allows students to gain additional skills and knowledge not leaning on standard university program. It stimulates students to study harder.

Education, where the predominant role is played by the interaction of students in groups, initially causes difficulties in terms of organization and psychological perception, but in the future the benefits of such training are obvious:

– The activity of all participants in the educational process, due to the presence of a single goal and common motivation;
– Comfort: working in a small group, students feel more confident, the opinion of each is accepted by the whole group;
– Development of personal qualities and improvement of self-esteem: everyone has the opportunity to learn both a leading role and the role of an ordinary participant in a group decision, to build constructive communication;
– Development of speech, communication skills of all participants in the educational process;
– A deeper study of the material by the participants due to the repetition and application of the knowledge gained, consideration of the issue from different points of view.

Therefore, it can be assumed that interactive learning, based on interpersonal communication, specially organized communication situations, creates in the classroom conditions conducive to the emergence of interest in the learning process, the formation of motivation and the realization of students’ cognitive activity, in which a student feels his success, his intellectual viability, what makes the learning process itself productive. In addition, there were conducted some experiments which proved that students who are taught by interactive methods using ICT show better academic results both on exams and usual computer tests.

Thus, it should be noted that interactive learning simultaneously solves several problems. First of all, interactive methods are based on the direct interaction of students with the learning environment, that is, the reality in which they reveal the area of experience mastered. This creates a situation that requires the revision of existing experience, without which it is impossible to isolate and problematize the field of the unknown. Secondly, in interactive learning, the student’s subjective experience serves not only as an auxiliary material and illustration of the main content of education, but as a central source of educational cognition, which also activates the self-actualization processes in the direction of determining the ratio of “axiomatic”, objective and “subjective” personal knowledge. Thirdly, in the interactive training, the activity of the teacher gives way to the activity of the student, which stimulates self-actualization in terms of revising the existing methods of organizing work on solving serious applied problems. This ensures the most effective development of the ability for self-actualization since there is a revision of all existing potentials and outlines ways to build them up to achieve a result in the course of relevant interactions.

US Presence in Region Source of Insecurity, Instability: Iran

Mahmoud Vaezi, the chief of staff of the Iranian president, made the comments in reaction to a letter by the [Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) secretary general who had called for the extension of the weapons ban on Iran.

“The maintenance of security and interests of regional countries is contingent upon confidence-building and cooperation within the region,” he wrote in a tweet, urging the GCC not to follow the United States.

“The recent move by the GCC will result in insecurity and the most harm will be done to themselves,” he said.

Getting on board with the United States’ hostile policies against Iran, GCC Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf has, in a letter to the UN Security Council, called for the extension of Resolution 2231 and of the arms embargo against Iran.
