In the Tuesday meeting, the president described Tehran-Madrid ties as growing and developing, expressed hope economic relations between the two sides will further expand without being affected by the United States’ unilateral and illegal sanctions.

“Many world countries are affected by two viruses: COVID-19 and the US unilateralism,” President Rouhani said.

“We should all unite and help each other in order to counter these two viruses,” he noted.
The new Spanish ambassador, in turn, said relations between Tehran and Madrid are good, but are not on a par with the two countries’ potentialities, adding mutual ties should further flourish, especially on the economic front.

The ambassador said his country supports the 2015 Iran nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and believes the agreement has no replacement.
He said everyone should seek to preserve the JCPOA, adding Spain as well as Europe back efforts to preserve the nuclear agreement and to see the deal produce the desired results.

Tehran Rejects Saudi Claim of Busting Iran-Linked Terror Group

Iran's Foreign Ministry

In a statement on Tuesday, the Iranian spokesman described the Saudi claim as “a rehash of old accusations”.

“The recent accusations levelled by Saudi officials against the Islamic Republic of Iran are in line with the country’s invalid and repetitive positions over the past years,” he said.

“By abandoning political wisdom, and, this time, in the form of a threadbare show, Saudi rulers have fabricated a false case against Iran as a ploy to deflect public attention in order to cover up its own failed moves,” the spokesman noted.

“The Saudi rulers’ move to hurl hackneyed, cliché and worthless accusations [against Iran] is not a path that would help the Arab country achieve its goals,” he said.

“We recommend Saudi Arabia opt for the path of honesty and wisdom rather than playing out worthless and dictated scenarios,” he said.

Iran Denies Claim Its Territory Used for Arms Transfer to Armenia

Iran Denies Claim Its Territory Used for Arms Transfer to Armenia
This file photo released by the Russian Defence Ministry shows trucks carrying Russian-made weapons

In a statement on Tuesday, Khatibzadeh said the transit of conventional non-military items through Iran to neighbouring countries has always been underway.

“The mentioned trucks are crossing Iran simply within the same framework,” he added.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran carefully monitors and controls the trend of transportation and transit of commodities to other countries [via its soil] and does not allow our country’s soil to be used for the transfer of arms and ammunition whatsoever,” he said.

Earlier this month, Iran’s Embassy in the Republic of Azerbaijan had dismissed media reports about the transfer of Russian weapons to Armenia through an Iranian border crossing.

The Iranian Embassy in Baku slammed as “baseless and false” the media reports claiming that Iran has allowed for the shipment of Russian military equipment to Armenia through Norduz border crossing situated northwest of the country.

Denouncing such false news as acts of sabotage by the hostile forces and those opposed to close relations between Iran and Azerbaijan, the embassy said such measures are aimed at harming the growing cooperation and friendly relations between Tehran and Baku.

Baku had earlier voiced concern about reports of large arms shipments from Russia to Armenia during and after the fighting.

Last month, Azeri President Ilham Aliyev complained to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin about Moscow’s arms sales to Armenia amid the outbreak of fighting between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Ancient Grave Unearthed in Iran’s Kurdistan

Ancient Grave Unearthed in Iran’s Kurdistan

A team of archeologists from the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts unearthed the ancient grave in a village in Sarvabad town, Kurdistan province.

The mission came following speculations that there might be relics in danger of destruction in an area where a dam is under construction.

“Based on the burial traditions of the Parthian era, large jars usually served as coffins,” said a senior provincial cultural heritage official.

He said the discovered graves contain two large jars with the body inside.
The jars are laid on the ground, he added.

“Given the bayonet found under the chest ribs, its seems the body belongs to a person who died of an injury,” the official said.

“Researchers in the field of archaeology and other interdisciplinary sciences have begun their research and studies on the remains of the body. When the research is complete, the results will be released in the form of reports and scientific articles,” he said.
