In a meeting between Iranian Minister of Roads and Transportation Mohammad Eslami and Bulgaria’s new Ambassador to Tehran, the two sides underlined the need to implement agreements reached by the two countries in the 19th meeting of the Iran-Bulgaria Joint Economic Cooperation Commission.

The Iranian minister thanked Bulgaria for cooperating well to facilitate the transportation of goods via road, especially amid the coronavirus pandemic.

He urged both sides to enhance their rail transport cooperation, especially the resumption of charter flights and working together closely in other economic and trade domains.

They two sides also agreed to convene a committee in the future to implement already reached agreements.

Tehran Rejects Saudi Claim of Busting Iran-Linked Terror Group

Iran's Foreign Ministry

In a statement on Tuesday, the Iranian spokesman described the Saudi claim as “a rehash of old accusations”.

“The recent accusations levelled by Saudi officials against the Islamic Republic of Iran are in line with the country’s invalid and repetitive positions over the past years,” he said.

“By abandoning political wisdom, and, this time, in the form of a threadbare show, Saudi rulers have fabricated a false case against Iran as a ploy to deflect public attention in order to cover up its own failed moves,” the spokesman noted.

“The Saudi rulers’ move to hurl hackneyed, cliché and worthless accusations [against Iran] is not a path that would help the Arab country achieve its goals,” he said.

“We recommend Saudi Arabia opt for the path of honesty and wisdom rather than playing out worthless and dictated scenarios,” he said.

Iran Denies Claim Its Territory Used for Arms Transfer to Armenia

Iran Denies Claim Its Territory Used for Arms Transfer to Armenia
This file photo released by the Russian Defence Ministry shows trucks carrying Russian-made weapons

In a statement on Tuesday, Khatibzadeh said the transit of conventional non-military items through Iran to neighbouring countries has always been underway.

“The mentioned trucks are crossing Iran simply within the same framework,” he added.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran carefully monitors and controls the trend of transportation and transit of commodities to other countries [via its soil] and does not allow our country’s soil to be used for the transfer of arms and ammunition whatsoever,” he said.

Earlier this month, Iran’s Embassy in the Republic of Azerbaijan had dismissed media reports about the transfer of Russian weapons to Armenia through an Iranian border crossing.

The Iranian Embassy in Baku slammed as “baseless and false” the media reports claiming that Iran has allowed for the shipment of Russian military equipment to Armenia through Norduz border crossing situated northwest of the country.

Denouncing such false news as acts of sabotage by the hostile forces and those opposed to close relations between Iran and Azerbaijan, the embassy said such measures are aimed at harming the growing cooperation and friendly relations between Tehran and Baku.

Baku had earlier voiced concern about reports of large arms shipments from Russia to Armenia during and after the fighting.

Last month, Azeri President Ilham Aliyev complained to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin about Moscow’s arms sales to Armenia amid the outbreak of fighting between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Ancient Grave Unearthed in Iran’s Kurdistan

Ancient Grave Unearthed in Iran’s Kurdistan

A team of archeologists from the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts unearthed the ancient grave in a village in Sarvabad town, Kurdistan province.

The mission came following speculations that there might be relics in danger of destruction in an area where a dam is under construction.

“Based on the burial traditions of the Parthian era, large jars usually served as coffins,” said a senior provincial cultural heritage official.

He said the discovered graves contain two large jars with the body inside.
The jars are laid on the ground, he added.

“Given the bayonet found under the chest ribs, its seems the body belongs to a person who died of an injury,” the official said.

“Researchers in the field of archaeology and other interdisciplinary sciences have begun their research and studies on the remains of the body. When the research is complete, the results will be released in the form of reports and scientific articles,” he said.

Rouhani’s Pick for Trade Ministry Wins Iran Parliament’s Confidence Vote

Rouhani’s Pick for Trade Ministry Wins Iran Parliament’s Confidence Vote 2

During an open session of the parliament on Tuesday, Razm-Hosseini was approved with 175 in favour, 80 against and 9 abstentions.

Razm-Hosseini, a veteran of the imposed Iraqi war in the 1980s, earlier served as the governor of his birthplace Kerman province from 2013 to 2018.

Rouhani’s previous pick for the ministry, Hossein Modarres Khiabani, had earlier failed to garner the minimum number of votes by the Parliament members for the post.

In August, Modarres Khiabani was kept from taking the helm at the ministry with 140 votes against, 104 in favour and 10 abstentions from a total of 254 votes.

In May, Rouhani dismissed the former minister of industry, Reza Rahmani, and appointed Modarres Khiabani as caretaker to the ministry to handle the situation in the domestic car market and ensure a steady supply of basic commodities amid the cruel sanctions against Iran.

Rouhani had ordered the caretaker to focus efforts on management of the market and supply of the basic commodities, regulation of car prices, removal of the obstacles to domestic production and promotion of the homegrown products, enhancement of non-oil exports, and improvement of the business activities.

Another Iranian Tanker Delivers Fuel to Venezuela in Defiance of US Bans

Another Iranian Tanker Delivers Fuel to Venezuela in Defiance of US Bans

According to Refinitiv Eikon vessel tracking data, the Iran-flagged tanker Forest, which is transporting some 270,000 barrels of fuel loaded in the Middle East, entered Venezuela’s exclusive economic zone around 8:05 a.m. local time (1205 GMT) on Monday with no disturbances.

Two other Iranian tankers — the Faxon and the Fortune — are following the same route and are crossing the Atlantic Ocean. They are scheduled to arrive in Venezuela’s waters in early October.

The Iranian vessels are expected to jointly deliver about 820,000 barrels of gasoline and other motor fuels to Venezuela.

Five Iranian vessels had made a previous fuel delivery to Venezuela between May and June.

Iran’s fuel shipments have drawn the ire of the US, which has imposed draconian sanctions on the two states with the aim of chocking their oil trade.

On June 24, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced sanctions on five Iranian ship captains who delivered oil to Venezuela.

He warned mariners against doing business with the government of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and said, “As a result of today’s sanctions, these captains’ assets will be blocked. Their careers and prospects will suffer from this designation.”

Iran slammed the US sanctions, saying such moves would not keep Tehran and Caracas from defying Washington’s sanctions against both nations.

The two OPEC-member countries have taken major steps to promote bilateral trade this year by exchanging crude, fuel, food, equipment for refineries and other industrial goods.

According to a source and loading schedules of state-run oil firm PDVSA, a very large Iranian crude carrier (VLCC) is also set to leave Venezuela’s Jose port this week to transfer 1.9 million barrels of Venezuelan heavy oil for National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).

US Killed Number-One Enemy of ISIS: Iran FM

US Killed Number-One Enemy of ISIS

“You claim that you eliminated the ISIS, but you, instead, killed the terrorists’ number-one enemy with desperation and savagery,” Zarif said on Monday, referring to Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, who was assassinated in a US drone attack in Iraq in January.

“You are cowards and savage, but you were not able to bring Iranians to their knees,” said Zarif in a ceremony commemorating the martyrs of the Iranian foreign ministry.

The top diplomat also hit out at the US for arming Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein during the eight-year Iraqi-imposed war on Iran in the 1980s.

“All of you contributed to sending arms to Iraq, but how come that Saddam [Hussein] and his supporters ended up in the ash heap of history?” he said.

Zarif underlined that people will not forget the crimes that the US has committed.

“What has empowered us and helped us overcome all the pressure and hardships is the presence of the people as well as the culture of devotion and martyrdom,” he noted.

He said the US keeps hatching plots against Iran, but this very culture of devotion and martyrdom has made Iran stand strong.
