Iran Mocks Netanyahu’s ‘Puppet Show’ at UNGA

Iran Mocks Netanyahu's 'Puppet Show' at UNGA

Asked by reporters about Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech at the UN General Assembly, Khatibzadeh described his remarks as a new act in a serial of puppet shows that originate from Netanyahu’s conspiratorial mind and from the counter-intelligence campaign run by the Zionist regime’s espionage services.

“The prime minister of the fake, usurping and child-murdering Zionist regime continues to tell lies by taking the podium at international circles, and is trying to deceive public opinion and the global circles with ridiculous shows in order to prevent trial of the regime’s criminal leaders at the international courts,” Khatibzadeh said on Wednesday.

The Zionist regime’s nature is based on occupation, deception and racism, the Iranian diplomat added, slamming the Zionist regime as the greatest global threat to peace and security given its stockpile of hundreds of nuclear warheads.

His comments came after Netanyahu reiterated opposition to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, accusing Tehran of violating the nuclear restrictions.

The Israeli leader also claimed in his UN speech that Tehran will have enough enriched uranium in a few months for two nuclear bombs.

Iranian, Japanese Diplomats Discuss Syria Developments

Iranian, Japanese Diplomats Discuss Syria Developments

In a telephone conversation on Wednesday, Ali-Asghar Khaji, the Iranian foreign minister’s senior assistant in special political affairs, and Japan’s Special Coordinator for Syria Akira Endo talked about the latest developments in Syria, including the most recent meeting of the Constitutional Committee, the Astana Peace Process, the situation in Idlib and east of the Euphrates, as well as the humanitarian conditions.

The Iranian and Japanese diplomats expressed satisfaction with the holding of the third session of the Syrian Constitutional Committee in Geneva, voiced support for the continuation of dialogue and political process, particularly within the framework of the Constitutional Committee, and stressed the need for the international community to dispatch more humanitarian aid to Syria, given the coronavirus pandemic and the escalation of humanitarian situation in that country.

In the phone call, Khaji highlighted the Islamic Republic of Iran’s principled policy on the political settlement of the crisis in Syria and supporting the Syrian-Syrian talks within the framework of the Constitutional Committee, which has been established as part of an initiative developed by the Astana Process guarantor states, and called for non-interference from outside in the activities of the Committee.

The Iranian diplomat also condemned the US’ illegal presence in Syria and its measures to plunder Syria’s oil and sponsor the terrorist groups, stressing the need for the US’ withdrawal from Syria and the continuation of the fight against terrorism until its eradication in that country.

Khaji further welcomed plans for the promotion of regional cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Japan.

He finally called for Japan’s continued delivery of humanitarian aids to all parts of Syria, and expressed Iran’s readiness for help in this regard.

For his part, Akira Endo highlighted Iran’s prominent role in the resolution of crisis in Syria, and praised the efforts by the Astana Process guarantor states.

In a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan on Wednesday, President Rouhani underlined that fighting is definitely not the solution to problems and disputes between Yerevan and Baku.

Highlighting the significant and age-old relations that Iran has held with both Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan on the basis of common history and culture, the president expressed Iran’s readiness to play any constructive role acceptable to its two friends and neighbours.

“Our wish is an immediate end to the clashes, as all of us should try to settle the region’s problems politically and through international regulations,” President Rouhani added.

“Stability and security could lay the foundation for development, and our region cannot stand instability and a new war,” he underlined, noting that the decades-old dispute between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh requires a solution in compliance with the international law and the territorial integrity of the parties.

Calling for a halt to the armed clashes between the two neighbouring states, President Rouhani urged Yerevan and Baku to act prudently and show self-restraint.

The Iranian president also warned that any foreign interference in the conflict would only aggravate the situation and drag out the clashes and tensions.

For his part, Pashinyan said he welcomes any practical initiative for the cessation of violence.

The Armenian prime minister also noted that any tension and conflict would be detrimental to all regional countries.

He finally voiced concern about foreign interference in his country’s disputes with the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The military forces of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan have started a new round of clashes over the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh since Sunday, the heaviest fighting between the two countries in years.

Iran has repeatedly asked the two neighbours to cease hostilities and hold negotiations to resolve the dispute peacefully.

Iran Rejects UAE Claims, Reasserts Sovereignty over Trio Persian Gulf Islands

Iran Rejects UAE Claims, Reasserts Sovereignty over Trio Persian Gulf Islands

In a statement released on Wednesday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh rejected the comments that foreign minister of the United Arab Emirates has made in a session of the United Nations General Assembly.

“Iran’s sovereignty over the Iranian islands of Abu Musa, the Greater Tunb, and the Lesser Tunb is definite and irrefutable, and all of Iran’s measures have been taken within the framework of exercising its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and clearly have nothing to do with any foreign government,” the spokesperson added.

“Such (Emirati) comments and repetition of groundless claims have had and would have no impact on our country’s sovereignty, as they lack any legal validity,” Khatibzadeh stated.

He further deplored the UAE’s destructive interference in a number of countries and its active participation in warmongering, saying Abu Dhabi’s agreement on normalization of ties with the usurping, belligerent and crisis-creating Zionist regime has in fact turned the UAE into part of the crisis in the West Asia region.

The statement came after the UAE’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan rehashed his country’s previous position in a speech to the general debate of the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, claiming that his country has legal right regarding sovereignty over the three Persian Gulf islands and alleging that Iran has occupied the islands in violation of the UN Charter.

US Presidential Debate Showed Washington in Deep Trouble: Iran

Speaking in a weekly cabinet session on Wednesday, President Hassan Rouhani said US authorities are hatching plots against Iran at a time when they themselves have difficulties.
“The Americans themselves are bogged down in a very difficult situation,” he said.

“If you have seen their debate last night, or if you read about it in media and on the internet today, you’ll realize what situation they are in,” he added.

“On the one hand, they have had the worst management with regards to the coronavirus pandemic, and they are gripped by the worst unemployment rate today,” he said.

“On the other hand, domestic unrest inside the US is worse than before; moreover, they have not made any achievements in the foreign policy arena,” he added.

“They were unsuccessful in foreign policy, not only towards Iran, but towards the region or the Pacific or Europe or NAFTA. They were unsuccessful in the foreign policy domain everywhere,” President Rouhani noted.

“It is natural that a country with so many problems wants to spread its difficulties to the world outside the US,” he said.

“Under such circumstances, they are hatching plots against Iran,” he said.

“Today, the US is applying the most hostile, criminal and terrorist policies vis-à-vis the Iranian nation and against 84 million Iranian people,” he noted.

He then urged all to stay united to tackle the existing problems caused by the US pressure.
