He made the comment in a meeting with new Indonesian Ambassador to Tehran Ronny Prasetyo Yuliantoro where the president received the top diplomat’s credentials.

President Rouhani noted that the Islam both Iran and Indonesia have in mind is the one practiced based on “moderation.”

The top Indonesian diplomat, for his part, underscored the need for closer cooperation between the two countries’ companies and running joint ventures.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always supported Syrian people in recent years when they have been defending their rights and fighting terrorism,” said the president when receiving the credentials of new Syrian Ambassador to Tehran Shafiq Dayoub.

The top Syrian diplomat, in turn, said his government and people would like to preserve all invaluable accomplishments achieved in strategic relations with Iran over the past four decades.

He appreciated Iran’s support and assistance for Syria in difficult times, and thanked Iran for helping Damascus fight terror and restore peace and stability to Syria.

“Tunisia can be a gateway for Iran to enter countries in Africa, North Africa and Europe,” said President Rouhani while receiving the credentials of new Tunisian Ambassador to Tehran Samir al-Mansour.

“Relations between Tehran and Tunis have been good and developing following the revolution in Tunisia, and there has been a feeling of proximity between the two countries,” President Rouhani said.

All Equipment in School Students’ Research Centres Built Domestically: Iran

Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology, noted thousands of pieces of equipment have been supplied to such research centres.

“Some 9,000 items of equipment have been supplied to [students’] research centres in the past 8 years,” he said in a ceremony to equip dozens of such centres.

“School Students’ research centres had already been equipped in the fields of biotechnology, stem cells and aerospace, but today, we are seeing [them being fitted with] new equipment,” said the vice president.

“A new ecosystem should emerge in the education domain and new changes should take place,” he said.

“Of course, these changes do not happen overnight; rather, the take place through a constant campaign and relentless efforts,” he added.

“The training that school students receive should be in line with the needs of society,” he explained.

Iran’s President Urges US to Ditch ‘Wrong’ Policy of Sanctions

Speaking in a Tuesday meeting, President Hassan Rouhani also highlighted Iranians’ resistance against sanctions.

“The Iranian nation’s resistance against the pressure of sanctions and the full-scale economic war launched by the Trump administration against Iran revealed important realities to the world and all ill-wishers of Iran,” he said.

“Trump didn’t get to know the potential and realities about the capabilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and acted based on his illusions,” he noted.

“The White House’s failure in confrontation with Iran after two and a half years of a full-fledged economic war coupled with the failure of Trump’s international policies is among the reasons behind his defeat in the recent US election,” said President Rouhani.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Condemns US Sanctions on Turkey

In a post on his Twitter account on Tuesday, Foreign Minister Zarif lashed out at the US government for resorting to sanctions against Turkey.

“US addiction to sanctions and contempt for international law at full display again,” Zarif said after US President Donald Trump’s administration on Monday imposed sanctions on Turkey over the purchase of Russian-made S-400 missile system.

“We strongly condemn recent US sanctions against Turkey and stand with its people and government,” the top Iranian diplomat underlined, concluding his post with the hashtag ‘Neighbours First’.

The US argues that Russia’s S-400 surface-to-air missile system is incompatible with NATO technology and a threat to the Euro-Atlantic alliance.

The US had previously kicked Turkey out of its F-35 stealth fighter development and training program over the S-400 purchase.

Foreign Minister Zarif’s expression of support for Turkey came one day after Iranian President Hassan Rouhani reaffirmed Tehran’s close political and economic ties with Ankara, saying he has been assured that the Turkish president had no ill intention in reciting a poem with dual meaning that aroused some resentment in Iran.

Iran Almost Self-Sufficient in Seed Production: Agriculture Minister

Addressing a conference on Monday, Khavazi said the whole agricultural seeds consumed in the country, except the vegetable seeds, are produced by the local experts at the Seed and Plant Improvement Institute and the Dryland Farming Research Institute.

“We can proudly announce that we are above 95 percent self-sufficient in producing seeds,” he added.

The minister noted that Iran will become self-sufficient in producing vegetable seeds as well by March 2022 under the patronage of the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology, the Headquarters for Executing the Order of Imam Khomeini, and the private sector.

Highlighting the great contribution that the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization makes to the country’s agricultural sector, Khavazi said more than 90 percent of the modern farming methods and new agricultural inputs currently utilized in the Iranian farmlands and orchards have been developed by that research organization.

Despite all problems and the pressure of sanctions, Iran’s economic growth in the agricultural sector has stood at +4 percent, indicating the great potential of the country’s agriculture industry, the minister stated.

Iran Needs No Permission to Return to Oil Market: Minister

Bijan Namdar Zangeneh touched upon sanctions imposed on the country’s oil industry, and said, “If sanctions are lifted and resources are provided for the revival of oil wells whose production has dropped, it will be quite possible to export 2.3 million barrels of crude a day.”

“There is [good] market for Iran’s oil, and prices will not fall,” he noted.

Iran’s Oil Sale to Hit 2.9 Million bpd If Sanctions Lifted: President

The Iranian oil minister was blacklisted by the US Treasury Department last month. In reaction, Namdar Zangeneh said the move was a testimony to Washington’s failure to drive Iranian oil exports down to zero.

“The sanctions on me and my colleagues are a passive reaction to the failure of Washington’s policy of bringing [Iran’s] oil exports to zero,” said the minister back in October.

“The era of unilateralism in the world has ended. Iran’s oil industry will not give up,” he added.

The oil minister also emphasized last month that he had no assets held abroad to be subject to the US sanctions, saying he would sacrifice his life, assets and dignity for Iran.

The US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on the Iranian Ministry of Oil, the National Iranian Oil Company and the National Iranian Tanker Company for alleged financial support for the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

Iranian oil exports rose sharply in September in defiance of the US sanctions, according to three assessments based on tanker tracking.
