Senegal Can Serve as ‘Gateway’ for Iran’s Ties with Africa: Rouhani

President Hassan Rouhani made the comment while receiving the credentials of the new Senegalese ambassador to Tehran.

In the Wednesday meeting, Rouhani underlined that Tehran and Dakar are set to further enhance their relations.

The president also described Senegal as a very important country in the African continent, calling for promotion of collaborations in scientific, cultural, technological, and academic fields as well as Islamic sciences.

“Iran and Senegal have very good grounds for expansion of ties, and the cooperation of public and private sectors of the two countries is imperative for achieving that goal,” he noted.

Saliou Niang Dieng, in turn, said one of his most important missions in Tehran is to try to enhance the level of bilateral relations between the two states.

“Iran and Senegal have always had good and close relations, and they have numerous grounds for strategic cooperation,” the Senegalese envoy said.

Iran President Stresses Closer Ties with Ghana

In a Wednesday meeting with the new Ghanaian envoy to Tehran, President Hassan Rouhani described Tehran-Accra ties as cordial and friendly, expressing hope mutual relations will be enhanced in the new chapter of bilateral ties.

In turn, Ghana’s new ambassador to Tehran Eric Owusu-Boateng presented his credentials to the Iranian president, hailing the longstanding and friendly relations between the two countries.

“Political ties between Iran and Ghana are very warm and friendly, and we should strive to expand our economic relations as much as our friendly political ties,” he added.

Rouhani Urges Biden Admin. to Stop Trump’s ‘Economic Terrorism’

US to Suffer Humiliating Defeat This Weekend: Rouhani

President Hassan Rouhani said Trump’s economic terrorism against Iran amounted to a crime.

“The new US administration should immediately stop economic terrorism operations against Iran. Such a move will open the way. That’s the key to opening the door and holding talks together. We have no problems with that,” said the president.

President Rouhani added the Biden administration has acknowledged, time and again, that Trump’s maximum pressure policy against Iran has failed.

So, he said, the new US government should abandon that policy.

The president then underlined it was Iran that preserved the nuclear deal despite scaling down its commitments under the agreement in response to Washington’s illegal withdrawal from it.

He said Iran has been the only signatory to the deal to fully deliver on all of its commitments, calling on the Europeans and the US to make good on their obligations, too.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Rouhani underscored that Iran attaches great significance to its relations with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

He said his administration should not be criticized for its recent agreement with the IAEA.

“Opposing the Iran-IAEA deal amounts to playing in the enemy’s court,” he said.

He said Tehran struck a deal with the IAEA while fully implementing the parliament’s legislation on lifting US sanctions against Iran.

“The government enforced the parliament’s law completely, but acted prudently enough in order not to be accused of refusing to cooperate with the IAEA,” he said.

Rouhani then recalled Trump’s futile efforts to turn the IAEA against Iran.

“One of the cases in which Trump was defeated was his failure to get the IAEA on board against Iran,” he explained.
He then underlined that “the three European countries are very much beholden to us” as the JCPOA survived thanks to Iran.

US Understands No Language Other Than ‘Language of Force’: IRGC

Brigadier General Esmail Qaani said if American officials were wise enough, they would give up confrontation with the Islamic Republic of Iran because “their threats were turned into the best opportunity.”

“They imposed the [Iraqi] war on Iran (in the 1980s), but the same war turned into the best opportunity for us, so that the whole world got to know this Establishment and Revolution,” said the top commander.

He said his predecessor Major General Qassem Soleimani, who was assassinated by the US in Iraq over a year ago, was kind to the deprived and the oppressed, but at the same time, was tough in dealing with the US and “used a language that US authorities would understand.”

He underlined martyrs gave their lives to keep the path of resistance alive, and added the path of martyr Soleimani and other martyrs will continue.

Iran Congratulates Japan on National Day

Iran’s President Congratulates Suga on Appointment as Japan’s PM

In his Tuesday message to Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide, Rouhani offered his “sincerest congratulations” to him, the government and the people of Japan on the National Day of Japan.

“At a time when all people around the world are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the world community is facing successive political-security developments, fortunately we are witnessing the continuation of cooperation and increasing consultation of high-ranking officials of the two countries at different levels, which shows determination and hard work of the two sides for developing bilateral relations and increasing cooperation in various international arenas with the aim of creating global stability and security,” Rouhani said.

He also expressed confidence that in the light of this mutual will and support of the Japanese prime minister, “the historical and friendly relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Japan will develop even more in various fields, especially economic and trade.”
The Iranian president finally wished health and success for the Japanese leader and prosperity and felicity for the people of Japan.

Also in a message to the Emperor of Japan, Rouhani extended his “sincerest congratulations” to him on his birthday and the National Day of Japan.

“I hope that the friendly relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Japan, which have their roots in the centuries-old history of the two nations, will be further strengthened and developed,” he noted.

He also wished health and success for the Japanese emperor and prosperity and felicity for the people of Japan.

The birthday of the reigning emperor has been a national holiday in Japan since 1868. It is currently celebrated on February 23 as Emperor Naruhito was born on this day in 1960.

Actions Taken by Biden Administration ‘Extremely Insufficient’: Iran

Speaking in a weekly press briefing on Tuesday, Ali Rabiei said the new team at the White House have acknowledged that the “maximum pressure” policy adopted by Trump against Iran has been a non-starter.

“The US has confessed to the reality that pressure and sanctions against Iranian people have failed,” he said.

“Accordingly, the US government, in a letter to the president of the UN Security Council, took back the previous US administration’s failed claim that it would reinstate sanctions resolutions against Iran and it put an end to unacceptable travel restrictions for Iranian diplomats at the UN headquarters,” he explained.

“Although we welcome these late moves and evaluate them as the US moving on a constructive path, we regard these actions as extremely insufficient,” he said.

“Confessing to the failure of the policy of maximum pressure against Iranian people is just a beginning to make up for the past, a policy which has, so far, been associated with large-scale violation of human rights, namely impeding our people’s access to their own financial resources beyond Iranian borders, and even fair access to treatment and health equipment at a time of the coronavirus pandemic,” he added.

“We expect the US government to put its words into action, and this will not happen unless the US government, in the first step, act like a responsible member of the United Nations and immediately and fully deliver on Resolution 2231,” said the government spokesman.

“We have always been ready to resume diplomacy with signatories to the JCPOA with seriousness and good will, so that we will make sure that the agreement with all its details will be implemented to the letter without any provisions added to, or removed from it,” he said.

Rabiei underlined it remains to be seen if the new US government will accept US citizens’ rejection of Trump.

“The test [that the United States is facing] is whether or not the US and the White House will submit to the vote of American people against Trump, and whether or not the US is ready to completely detach itself from Trump and whatever is regarded as Trump’s wicked legacy,” he added.

“The US should show this in action. Washington’s unilateral and bully-style withdrawal from the JCPOA and [UN Security Council] Resolution 2231 is, in fact, one of the main parts of that wicked legacy,” he said.

Iran’s Rouhani Urges National Unity in Aftermath of US Economic War

Rouhani Says Quick Deal Possible If US Shows Honesty

President Hassan Rouhani noted all energy and actions should be mobilized to make up for the harm and damage inflicted during the economic war.

In comments on Tuesday, the president called for the creation of a proper atmosphere to expand trade.

“The Eurasian Economic Union can create the right climate for Iran’s trade and transparent economic interactions with other regional countries,” he said at a meeting of the government’s Economic Coordination Committee.

The president also stressed the importance of Iran getting connected to emerging markets in the region to further enhance economic cooperation and make joint investment at a time of sanctions.

Present at the meeting was Governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Abdonaser Hemmati, who presented a report on his recent talks and his agreements with representatives of South Korea, Japan, Iraq and Oman on how to use the CBI’s asset in those countries.
