People’s Health Top Priority during Elections: Iran President

Next US Administration Should Bow to Iranian Nation’s Will: Rouhani

“It is forbidden to hold election gatherings in closed spaces,” said Hassan Rouhani in a meeting of the National Coronavirus Headquarters.

“Campaigns should be held at the maximum level, but gatherings should be kept to the minimum,” he said.

President Rouhani underlined the most important task is to protect people’s lives, and added the realisation of a huge turnout in the elections is the second priority.

“All should fully abide by health protocols in the coming weeks in a bid to hold the elections without facing a new peak in the [coronavirus] disease while protecting people’s health and realizing a maximum [voter] turnout,” he said.

“It is necessary to observe health protocols and maintain the current lifestyle until the end of the year,” he added.

“All provinces have passed the fourth peak [in the COVID-19 disease],” the president said.
He also touched upon the national coronavirus vaccination program.

“So far, more than 5 million doses of vaccines have been distributed,” he said.

“We hope as many as 14 million people in the target group will have been inoculated by late June,” the president said.

Traffic Camera Operator Helps Iranian Man Find His Lost Phone (+Video)

“The policeman monitoring the flow of traffic at Hadi Nowruzi square in Babol noticed a man’s mobile phone drop while he was getting out of a taxi,” said local police.

“While monitoring the traffic, I noticed the driver of a car which had stopped at the square, wanted the turn left or move in the opposite direction,” said a police officer.

“I zoomed the camera on the car and noticed a passenger was getting out of the car,” he added.
“After the car left, I saw the passenger’s mobile phone had dropped on the ground,” the policeman noted.

The man (passenger) failed to notice his cell phone had dropped when he was paying the taxi fare, and went on walking across the square.

The policeman who noticed the man’s phone had dropped on the ground immediately began searching among the cars parked around the square.

“I saw the taxi driver cleaning his car at the square.

I zoomed [the camera] on the number plate and called the taxi owner. I told him how the passenger looked like, and asked him to go across the square and tell the passenger that his mobile phone had dropped,” the policeman added.

Palestine’s Victory Brings Israel’s Downfall Closer at Hand: IRGC

Anti-Islamism Expediting Fall of US, Zionism: Iran's IRGC

In a statement, the IRGC said the “Sword of Quds” operation indicated the upper hand of the Intifada on the ground, and showed equations had been tipped in favour of Palestinian groups in their struggles against Israeli occupiers.

At a sensitive juncture, read the statement, the wrath and willpower of Palestinian resistance groups in the occupied territories shattered the goals and dreams of the criminal Israeli regime as well as mercenary rulers in some Islamic countries, which have normalised their relations with Tel Aviv.

This triumph brought the downfall of the Israeli regime closer at hand, added the statement.

The statement also urged the Tel Aviv regime to take “practical steps” to end its aggression against Quds and the al-Aqsa mosque.

The statement also warned Israel against any miscalculations and daydreaming about fresh crimes and warmongering.

“The cancerous tumour of Israel is on the decline and on the path to annihilation,” said part of the statement.

“The occupiers have well realized that they will be unable to perpetuate their bullying, violence and killing of defenseless Palestinian women, men and children, and to repeat their brutal and medieval adventurism, and that they should, from now on, think about their criminal scenarios in Palestine with caution and fear because Palestinian groups will no longer pay attention to their hollow threats,” read the statement.

Palestine’s Victory Tipped the Scales against Israel: Iran

In a statement on Friday night, the Foreign Ministry hailed the perseverance and sacrifices of the Palestinian resistance and people, especially in Gaza, in the face of atrocious attacks by the Zionist Israeli regime.

The Ministry reiterated Iran’s support for the Palestinian nation’s struggle, and commemorated the martyrs of Gaza and the entire Palestine.

“Among the blessings of the recent developments were the solidarity of different Palestinian territories and revival of their relations, renewal of discussions on the Palestinian issue in the regional and global levels, widespread public support for the Palestinian resistance and more disgrace for the Zionist occupiers as well as promotion of Quds as a link among all Palestinians and the Islamic world,” the statement read.

“The victorious resistance of the Palestinian people clearly demonstrated the failure of the shameful process of normalisation [of ties with Israel] by some Arab countries.

Therefore, these countries are expected to respect the resistance of the Palestinian people and the lofty ideal of liberation of the holy Quds, reverse the wrong course they are treading, and seriously reconsider their policies.”

The Foreign Ministry also condemned as a horrible crime the Zionist regime’s attacks on residential areas of Palestine and the killing of defenceless people, and urged that the leaders of the regime be put on trial as war criminals and the actions of the child-killing regime be identified as genocide and crime against humanity.

The Foreign Ministry also reiterated the need for enhancing the capabilities of the Palestinian people in legitimate self-defence and upgrading of their deterrent power to prevent new Israeli attacks and acts of aggression.

It also expressed Tehran’s preparedness to send humanitarian and medical aid to the Palestinian people, and urged all relevant organisations and countries to provide the needed facilities for sending aid to the Palestinian people, especially seeing the depth of the inhuman crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza, worsened by the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the region.

Iran Leader Urges Muslim Countries to Provide Military, Financial Support for Palestine

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a Friday congratulatory message on the “victory of the resistant Palestinian nation against the Zionist regime” of Israel.

The Leader said the Islamic world is religiously responsible towards the Palestine issue.
“Muslim governments must honestly step into supporting Palestine and provide military and financial support (which is needed more than ever) and help them rebuild the infrastructure and damages,” the Leader noted.

The savage and wolfish enemy correctly understood it is weak against Palestine’s rise, the Leader said in his message.

He pointed to the cooperation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem with Gaza Strip, and described it as a test that made Palestine’s future roadmap clear.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the Israeli regime committed big crimes in Gaza Strip and proved that it can show shameful and insane behaviours, so much so that unite the entire world against itself.

He said both the continuation of those crimes and asking for a ceasefire were considered a failure for Israel, and Tel Aviv was finally forced into conceding defeat.

The Leader also vowed that Palestine will become stronger every day while Israel will get weaker than this.

He said the time to begin and stop clashes depends on the decision of Palestinian leaders, but getting prepared for powerful struggle will never stop.

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the “Sheikh Jarrah” neighbourhood’s experience of resisting the Israeli settlers and the Tel Aviv regime, saying that the experience must turn into a permanent instruction for Palestinians.

He also stressed that the Israeli crimes must be prosecuted and legally pursued at the international level, saying that all elements involved in the recent atrocities, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, must be tried at the international courts.

Canada Doing Business with Grief of Ukraine Plane Crash Victims’ Families: Iran

Ukraine Plane Crash: Eyewitnesses Say Can’t Sleep Anymore

“The ruling in question has no basis and lacks any objective evidence and reason,” Khatibzadeh said in response to questions about the Ontario court’s ruling.

“Given that the verdict is available online, we invite those interested in such issues to study the court ruling to realise that it is groundless,” he added.

“Everyone knows that the Canadian court does have the jurisdiction, after all, to look into this air accident or possible error associated with an incident that happened outside the territory and jurisdiction of Canada,” he said.

However, added the spokesman, it is not surprising to see that Canada disregards the fundamental and basic legal principles, given the overall behaviour of this country with regards to that air accident.

“Even the domestic law that the court has referred to runs counter to legal principles and, in fact, is tantamount to a violation of Canada’s international obligations,” Khatibzadeh said.

He further dismissed as “regrettable” Ottawa’s behaviour with regards to the Ukrainian plane crash and the “completely politically-tainted” approach adopted by Canada during the course of the legal proceedings in the country.

“By following in the footsteps of American courts, this Canadian court first named the accused, and then resorted to whatever relevant or irrelevant information available in public sources, especially in the cyberspace, to find a reason for its biased and pre-determined mentality,” he added.

“The Canadian judge’s following of political clichés and orders is regarded as shameful behaviour for a country which claims to be an advocate of the rule of law,” the spokesman said.

Khatibzadeh rejected as unacceptable the Canadian government’s actions, especially the recent ruling issued by a court in that country, and reminded Ottawa that such politically-motivated and vexatious moves will have no outcome other than disrupting the legal order ruling international aviation law and undercutting international law in general and harming all countries, including Canada itself.

The spokesman once again condoled with families of the victims and survivors of the incident, saying, “The political gestures of the Canadian government can only be interpreted as doing business with the grief and sorrow of the bereaved families and survivors of the accident and playing with their sentiments in order to achieve its short-sighted political objectives,” Khatibzadeh added.

“We want the Canadian government to show the behaviour of a mature government instead of pretending to be actively involved in dealing with this tragic accident, and to act based on internationally recognised rules and respect principles,” he noted.

Biden Must Abandon Trump’s Bans If He Wants Vienna Talks to Bear Fruit: Zarif

In a phone conversation on Thursday night, Zarif and Borrell discussed the latest developments pertaining to the Vienna talks and the considerable headway made with the negotiations.

Zarif appreciated efforts made by Borrell and his colleagues at the EU’s External Action Service.

Meanwhile, the top Iranian diplomat criticised Washington’s ongoing economic terrorism over the past five months as well as its continued violation of its commitments.

Zarif reiterated that it would not be acceptable to see the administration of US President Joe Biden continue to use the illegal and inhumane sanctions imposed by his predecessor Donald Trump as leverage in the talks.

“A fundamental change in this approach is a sine qua non for the Vienna talks to be fruitful, and this is a political decision that the US president should adopt,” Zarif said.

Time for US to Lift Sanctions: Iran’s Chief Negotiator

Azerbaijan-Armenia Peace Deal Based on Iran’s Proposal: Araqchi

Abbas Araqchi said the negotiating teams present in the talks have not yet decided on some key issues.

“Talks on reviving the JCPOA will continue after the May 21 deadline,” he said, referring to the date when an agreement between Iran and the IAEA expires.

“The Iranian delegation is leaving Vienna hoping that it can resume work next week,” said the senior negotiator.

He further expressed hope that the discussions will produce the desired outcome.

Araqchi further underlined that Iran will, later on, decide on the possibility of continuing its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Shahi Oil Mill: A Unique Museum in Iran’s Isfahan

In traditional oil mills, seeds such as sesame and castor bean were pressed to extract oil.

The mills were made up of two large pieces of stone which would be placed on top of each other. On one side, they were attached with a lever to beasts of burden such as donkeys, horses or camels. The animals would tread a circular path, moving the stone on top and having the seeds crushed between the two stones.

Afterwards, the crushed seeds were mixed with water to form a dough-like mixture, which was then taken to a part of the mill where the final stage of the oil-extraction process was conducted. At last, the extracted oil was stored in a well connected to the mill.

The Shahi horse-powered oil mill in the central Iranian city of Isfahan is one of the best-preserved oil mills, which contains one floor as high as around 11 metres. There are three dome-shaped spaces inside, with skylights on the ceiling which not only provide lighting, but also help with ventilation.

The ceiling was shaped like a dome, so that it would keep the environment cool.
A book was also compiled in Persian, English and Arabic in 2006 on the Shahi oil mill, which has now turned into a museum. In 2017, the museum received the International Council of Museums (ICOM) award as the best small museum.

World Powers Agree to Lift Oil, Banking Sanctions on Iran: Rouhani

Rouhani Says Quick Deal Possible If US Shows Honesty

“Those involved in the Vienna talks acknowledge that all major sanctions will be removed,” Rouhani said on Thursday.

“The current negotiations are just focused on small details,” he added, referring to the ongoing talks in Vienna between Tehran and the P4+1.

“They have accepted to remove all major sanctions including those related to oil, petrochemical, shipping, insurance, and banking fields as well as the Central Bank,” he added.

The Iranian president said, “It is over now. We have taken the main and big step. The deal on key issues has been reached.”

He at the same time noted that “there are points on which we are negotiating to reach a final deal, but the government has done its job.”
