Iran Air added that non-Iranian travelers who have resided in France, Britain, Denmark and Norway in the past 14 days, or who have been on a transit route to those countries cannot enter Iran until further notice.

All travelers aged above 13 onboard flights to Iran must have taken a PCR test within the past 72 hours before the flight took off and have negative test results in the English language.

Iraq PM announces end of foreign troops combat mission

“The coalition have fully completed their combat role after transfer of personnel and material outside Iraq. Going forward, their role will be to advise and assist our security forces per the outcome of the Strategic Dialogue,” al-Kadhimi said on Wednesday.

“We thank the leadership of the coalition, it’s members, our partners and neighbors in combating Daesh and reaffirm that our security forces stand ready to defend our people,” he added.

Since the assassination of top Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, Iraqi resistance forces have ramped up pressure on the US military to leave their country, targeting American bases and forces on numerous occasions, and at one point pushing the Americans to ask them to “just leave us alone.”

Earlier this year, Baghdad and Washington reached an agreement on ending the presence of all US combat troops in Iraq by the end of the year.

The US military declared the end of its combat mission in Iraq this month, but resistance forces remain bent on expelling all American forces, including those who have stayed in the country on the pretext of training Iraqi forces or playing an advisory role.

3 farmers wounded in Israeli attack on Gaza

The Israeli artillery targeted a location east of Beit Lahya and another east of Beit Hanoun, injuring three farmers who were working in their lands near the border fence.

The three were taken to a hospital in Beit Hanoun for treatment.

Israel claims shot were fired from Gaza at Israelis who were working on the border fence, lightly injuring one and prompting its retaliatory attack.

The abrupt escalation came a day after Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas travelled met Defense Minister Benny Gantz at his home, in a move condemned by Hamas.

Former Iran envoy: Beijing-Riyadh missile cooperation has consequence for Iran

Hossein Malaek, a former ambassador to China, told Entekhab paper that officials’ talks about strategic ties with China are empty words without much essence. Malaek said there is a misconception that China should not consider its own interests because Tehran is interested in cooperation with Beijing.

“Our analysis of the world and relations with major countries is injudicious. We feel China should take into account all our interests, [even if they go] against its own interests. This will not happen,” he said.

“China is a trade-oriented country. This means it sees economy and trade as a principle and is interested to expand its market and very brutally take the place of other countries.”

He added that the cooperation with Saudi Arabia on production of missiles or even drones should be viewed in the same context.

Malaek noted that the two sides signed a $400bn agreement in 2015, where cooperation in production of arms, including unmanned aircraft and defensive and offensive missiles, was a key part.

Malaek stressed that this has definitely negative consequences for Iran. He, however, said China has no commitment to take such issues into consideration.

“We still have not defined strategic ties with China, in which … advantages and disadvantages of the ties are defined. It is correct that our official and media widely speak about strategic relations between Iran and China, but this is all empty words and there is no serious debate between the two countries in the sense that defines such restrictions. Therefore, before such definitions are there, China is not committed to this issue,” he said.

Official: Iraqi debt to Iran stands at $5-7bn

Chairman of Iran-Iraq Joint Chamber of Commerce Yahya Ale-Es’haq said at a business forum on Wednesday that the country’s private sector continued collecting the amount of money for its services and industrial projects in Iraq via “bureaus de change and other channels.”

That process may have additional costs for Iran, but claims that the debt might not stand are false, he added.

Most of Iraq’s debt to Iran, however, is related to the two governments, not the private sector, according to the official.
He put the current value of exchanges between the two countries at about $13-$14 billion annually and said the country planned to boost its trade with the western neighbor to $20 billion.

“Under the current conditions facing Iraq’s economy, businessmen and economic activists as well as large, medium and small firms can have a share in the Iraqi market in any field they can, ranging from technical and engineering services to the provision of basic needs,” he added.

Khatibzadeh: Israel attack on Syria’s Latakia inhumane, immoral

Khatibzadeh said the attack is not only an act of aggression against a UN member and violation of its sovereignty but it also constitutes a hostile move and a clear example of provoking crisis and creating chaos in the region by this regime.
Khatibzadeh described the Israeli attack on Latakia as an inhumane and immoral act.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said the Zionist regime’s leaders can’t stand stability and peace in the region and have defined their own security as regional insecurity and instability.

He noted that Israel makes a mockery of international law by repeatedly attacking Syrian soil under false pretexts.

Khatibzadeh added that the people and government of the Arab Republic of Syria have a legitimate right to defend themselves against such acts of aggression.

He also called on international bodies to prevent the repetition of assaults by the Israeli regime, adding that silence on such acts of aggression will only cause the regime think it can continue down that path with impunity.

Iran approves Chinese consulate general in Bandar Abbas

The proposal was tabled by the foreign ministry.

The cabinet issued the authorization under the Vienna convention on consular relations and based on the principle of reciprocity and other relevant regulations.

The cabinet also approved the establishment of the Iranian consulate general in Armenia’s southeastern city of Kapan. The city is located in Armenia’s Syunik province, which hosts a key transit route with Iran.

Iran Football Federation throws weight behind Mahdavikia

Iranian Football Federation Secretary General Hassan Kamranifar defended Mahdavikia on Wednesday, saying the former winger made millions of Iranians inside and outside the country happy by scoring a historic goal against the United States in the 1998 FIFA World Cup.

Kamranifar also praised Mahdavikia’s devotion and respect for Iran’s values and principles.

He explained that Mahdavikia, as a prominent footballer, was officially invited by President of the World Football Federation Gianni Infantino to play in the match between FIFA Arab Legends and FIFA World Legends on December 17.

The Iranian football federation secretary general said Mahdavikia was vigilant during the match and properly handled the issue, adding that the regulatory body of the Ministry of Sports and Youth has approved documentation proving Mahdavikia’s proper conduct during the contest.

“Mahdavikia, who lived in Germany, came forward voluntarily and took the helm of the national U23 team with the least possible resources and salary. We appreciate such assets. The federation supports football greats,” he added.

After the December 17 match, the former Team Melli captain was criticized by some figures and media outlets for playing in the contest. The criticism was dismissed by Mahdavikia’s former team-mates and current footballers, as well as many sports and media figures who argue that the match was not an official event.

Iranian Foreign Ministry vows to bring to justice killers of General Soleimani

Harsher Revenge Awaiting US for Gen. Soleimani Assassination: Iran

Iran’s Foreign Ministry made the pledge on its Twitter account Wednesday.

The tweet underlined that the assassination was carried out at the director order of former US president Donald Trump.

It condemned the killing as a clear example of state terrorism. The Foreign Ministry posted the tweet as the second anniversary of the killing is nearing.

On Monday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said launching a terrorist attack on a personality who was at the front-line of the fight against terrorism was a double standard on part of the false pretenders to fighting against terrorism.

He added that the Iranian Foreign Ministry will not spare any effort to bring to justice the criminals who assassinated General Soleimani.

The assassination drew an angry reaction from the Iranian people.

Following the killing in early January 2020, millions of citizens poured onto the streets in Tehran to take part in General Soleimani’s funeral. Huge crowds also participated in the funeral in his hometown of Kerman where he was laid to rest.

A few days after the assassination, Iran fired a barrage of ballistic missiles at a US military base in Iraq, injuring a large number of American troops and causing massive damage to their assets.

First Russia’s S-550 system enters combat service

“The S-550 air defense system has successfully completed state trials. The first S-550 brigade has entered combat duty,” the source told TASS.

The source described the new system as “an absolutely new and unrivalled mobile system of strategic missile defense”, capable of “hitting spacecraft, ballistic missile reentry vehicles and hypersonic targets at altitudes of tens of thousands of kilometers”.

According to the source, the new system becomes a part of Russia’s comprehensive missile and air defense, comprised by Pantsir systems (low-altitude), long-range S-350, S-400 and S-500 systems and S-550 (in space).

Official sources have not yet confirmed this information to TASS.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu stated at the ministry’s conference call on November 9 that at defense industry meetings in Sochi in November Russian President Vladimir Putin had put emphasis on the importance of delivering S-350, S-500 and S-550 air and missile defense systems to the Russian troops.

Head of the Rostec state tech corporation Rostec Sergei Chemezov said at the Dubai Airshow 2021 that the S-550 would feature a longer-range target detection and missile interception capability.

A source close to the Russian Defense Ministry told TASS earlier that the S-550 system was not an attempt to revive an eponymous Soviet-era project, although some unimplemented concepts of it were used while creating the modern version.
