Israel obtained Hamas operation plan over a year ago: Report

Israel Hamas Attack

The newspaper reported that Israeli officials had obtained a 40-page document that Israel named “Jericho Wall”.

The document, seen by the daily, outlines the attack plan carried out by Palestinian armed groups with precise details.

The plan did not set a date for the attack, but did include “details about the location and size of Israeli military forces, communication hubs and other sensitive information”.

It detailed the use of rocket attacks to distract Israeli soldiers, drones to disable security measures, and overrunning the Israeli military base in the kibbutz of Re’im.

Hamas did indeed overrun parts of Re’im during its 7 October surprise attack on southern Israeli communities, which killed around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and resulted in around 240 captives being taken to the Gaza Strip.

According to the New York Times, an intelligence analyst in Israel’s Unit 8,200 warned in July that Hamas had carried out a day-long training exercise similar to the plans outlined in Jericho Wall.

The analyst said it included a dry run of shooting down an Israeli aircraft and taking over a kibbutz and a military training base, and killing all its cadets.

A military official in Israel’s division responsible for containing threats from Gaza reportedly applauded the analysis but called it a “totally imaginative” scenario.

According to the report, Israel may have been able to blunt or prevent Hamas’ attack had the warnings been taken seriously and significant military reinforcements been deployed in southern Israel.

The Jericho Walls document was circulated widely among senior Israeli military and intelligence officials, but was deemed to be beyond Hamas’ capabilities.

The NYT added it could not determine whether Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saw the document.

More than 15,000 Palestinians in Gaza – mostly women and children – have been killed by Israeli bombardment since the war began nearly two months ago.

On Friday, a seven-day truce between Israel and Palestinian groups in Gaza came to an end, with hostilities having resumed immediately upon its expiry.

During the week-long halt in fighting, 240 Palestinians were released from Israeli jails in exchange for 105 captives held in Gaza.

Iran leaves COP 28 summit in protest against Israel’s participation

Before attending thq had been informed about the absence of the Israeli ofqqqqqficials. However, upon learning about their participation, they chose to exit the conference.

As the Iranian energy minister departed the conference, he expressed that approximately 150 country leaders had been invited to COP 28, and it was anticipated that a significant number, including officials from the Zionist regime, would not attend.

He emphasized that Iran’s delegation aimed to leverage the Dubai-hosted conference to highlight the Gaza situation, engage with various countries’ authorities and delegations, and advocate for the oppressed Palestinian nation.

Mehrabian asserted that Iran believed the Israeli delegation’s presence contradicted the conference’s stated objectives.

Also Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian in a Thursday phone talk with his Emirati counterpart, had objected to the presence of the Israeli delegation, given its ongoing carnage in Gaza that has left over 15,000 Palestinians dead.

Iran FM: Stop Gaza strikes before it’s too late

Hossein Amirabdollahian

Hossein Amirabdollahian made the remarks on Friday on the social media platform X, hours after Israel resumed its devastating campaign against the besieged Palestinian territory.

“The (Israeli) captives cannot be released by war, but they will be killed in bombings. The continuation of Washington and Tel Aviv’ war means a new genocide in Gaza and the West Bank,” the Iranian foreign minister wrote.

Amirabdollahian also warned, “It does not seem that they think about the harsh consequences of going back to war. The existence of warships does not conclude it, but the existence of ‘the Palestinian determination’ will. Stop the attacks on Gaza immediately before it’s too late.”

A day earlier, the Iranian foreign minister held talks with his Emirati counterpart on the phone and called for more united efforts aimed at stopping Israeli crimes in Gaza.

Amirabdollahian said Islamic countries should continue efforts to stop the Zionist regime’s war crimes and open extensive humanitarian aid routes to Gaza.

Iran slams resumption of Israeli raids on Gaza

Gaza War

Nasser Kanaani took to X social media platform, writing, “After killing over 15,000 Palestinians, the Zionist vampires have started a new round of killing under the continued support by the US government.”

“Breaching the truce and resuming the military aggression by the Zionist regime against Gaza minutes before the departure of US Secretary of State (Antony) Blinken from the occupied territories; and again, civilians, women and children, are the main victims of the Zionist military’s criminal attacks,” the spokesperson continued.

Israel launched a new round of assault on 2.3 million Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip earlier on Friday after a days-long pause, drawing condemnation from around the world.

“Nations and the vast majority of the states in the world are crying out for the continuation of the ceasefire and a complete stop to the Zionist regime’s attacks against Gaza and the West Bank in Palestine,” Kanaani wrote, adding, “the criminal and child-killing Zionists seek victory in the absurd dream of making up for the irreparable defeat by killing civilians, women and children.”

He said, besides the Israeli regime, the US and “a few governments that support the apartheid regime” should be held accountable for the carnage that started on October 7.

Yemen’s Ansarullah warns will continue to target Israeli ships

Yemeni Forces

The Yemeni army’s spokesman Yahya Sarei said on Friday, “Yemen’s Ansarullah will continue to stop the movement of Israeli ships in the Red Sea,” as long as the Israeli carnage in the besieged Palestinian strip territories continues.

Late on Thursday, Yemen’s Armed Forces in a statement vowed to expand their attacks against Israeli targets inside the occupied territories

The warning came hours before a temporary ceasefire expired on Friday morning and Israel resumed its attacks on 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza.

Yemen’s Ansarullah has recently seized an Israeli-linked cargo ship off the Red Sea in retaliation for the Israeli onslaught on the Gaza Strip.

Over 15,000 Palestinians, almost two thirds of them women and children, have been killed in the Israeli onslaught that started on October 7.

Iran FM calls on Islamic states to pressure Israel into stopping “war crimes” in Gaza

Hossein Amirabdollahian

Pointing to the temporary ceasefire in Gaza, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian emphasized the need for Islamic countries to keep efforts in stopping the war crimes of the Zionist regime and opening extensive humanitarian aid routes to Gaza.

Amirabdollahian said: “The UN Security Council is expected to fulfill its obligations vis-a-vis the Palestinian people by adopting an effective resolution.”

Iran’s Foreign Minister also thanked the UAE president for inviting the Iranian president to take part in the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference، known as the Cop-28 conference, held by the UN and chaired by the UAE.

Amirabdollahian further highlighted the necessity of serious consideration regarding the presence of the Israeli authorities in the Cop-28 conference given the recent war crimes and the genocide perpetrated by the Zionist regime.

UAE’s Foreign Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan also, outlined his country’s efforts in regional and international forums to establish and sustain the ceasefire, promising that Abu Dhabi will exhaust all efforts to maintain the ceasefire and ratchet up the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Iranian rapper rearrested for “spreading falsehoods”

Toomaj Salehi

Following Tomaj Salehi’s release, he propagated unverified and conflicting statements online, judiciary officials say. Specifically, Salehi claimed to have filed a complaint against certain individuals for being “tortured”.

However, subsequent investigation into his recent court case revealed no such complaint lodged by Salehi or his legal representative against the bailiff or judges involved in the case, according to the sources.

Hojjatul-Islam wal-Muslimin Jafari, Chief Justice of Isfahan Province, addressed this matter by affirming the commitment to handling judicial cases without bias, asserting that all proceedings will strictly adhere to the rule of law. Furthermore, Jafari reiterated that every step, including the arrest, interrogation, and investigation in Tomaj Salehi’s case, adhered meticulously to legal protocols.

Salehi, a hip-hop rapper, had initially been arrested for participating in the 2022 unrest and deadly riots in Iran.

IAEA head calls for resumption of dialogue with Tehran on Iran’s nuclear program

IAEA Grossi

According to the Financial Times, the IAEA chief “has urged world powers to relaunch talks with Iran and not lose sight of the risks posed by its stockpiling of enriched uranium”.

“There needs to be some recreation of a system of dialogue with Iran,” Grossi said, as cited by the newspaper.

He added that the situation surrounding Iran’s nuclear program was “very uncertain” and urged nations to “sit down and re-engage”.

According to him, “trying to put [a nuclear deal] back into the JCPOA (the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action for Iran’s nuclear program) box wouldn’t work”.

“You can still call it a JCPOA but it should be a JCPOA 2.0 or something because you have to adapt,” Grossi continued.

Tehran has repeatedly rejected all accusations levelled by the West over the existence of undeclared nuclear activities or material in Iran, describing the allegations by the US and its European allies as a propaganda campaign against the country’s peaceful nuclear program.

Iran has proved the peaceful nature of its nuclear program to the world by signing the 2015 nuclear deal with six world powers. However, Washington’s exit in May 2018 and its subsequent re-imposition of sanctions against Tehran left the future of the agreement in limbo.

Top cmdr.: Iran ready to improve military ties with Saudi Arabia

Mohammad Bagheri

Major General Mohammad Bagheri made the remarks in a phone call with Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman Al Saud on Thursday.

General Bagheri expressed his satisfaction with the continued promotion of cordial ties between the two countries.

He also thanked the Saudi government for hosting an extraordinary summit of Islamic states earlier this month on the Israeli regime’s carnage in the Gaza Strip.

The Saudi defense minister, for his part, welcomed promotion of ties between the two countries’ armed forces.

The two sides also discussed the latest developments in the region.

Three killed, several wounded in Jerusalem shooting

Israel Shooting

Police announced 16 people were injured in Thursday morning’s shooting. Emergency services evacuated eight of the more seriously wounded victims to nearby hospitals, the Israeli ambulance service said.

Police in West Jerusalem noted the gunmen “arrived at the scene in a vehicle armed with firearms”, including an M16 and a pistol, and opened fire towards a crowd of civilians at the bus station.

The attackers, residents of East Jerusalem, were “subsequently neutralised by security forces and a nearby civilian”, police announced.

Ammunition and weapons were found inside their car, they added.

Security camera footage aired by Israel’s Channel 12 television showed the moments of the attack. A white car is seen stopped beside a crowded bus stop. Two men then step out, guns drawn, and run at the crowd as people scatter. Shortly afterwards the attackers are gunned down.

The Magen David Adom emergency service said one of the victims was a 24-year-old woman. A 73-year-old man, who was in a critical condition, was pronounced dead at Shaare Zedek Medical Center. A third person also died of his wounds, Israeli media reported.

The ambulance service initially said that five of the wounded had serious injuries and two had moderate to light injuries.

The incident took place just as Israel and Hamas agreed to extend the truce for a seventh day, shortly before the agreement was set to expire.

Israel’s military said on Thursday that the temporary pause in fighting in the Gaza Strip will continue “in light of the mediators’ efforts to continue the process of releasing hostages, and subject to the terms of the agreement”.
