MP Praises Petroleum Ministry for Regaining Market Share

Ghasem Ahmadi, a member of the Iranian Parliament, praised the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum for its efforts to revive the country's oil market share lost under the sanctions.

Speaking at an open session in the Parliament on Tuesday June 14, Ahmadi said every economy can reach an international level when it can export items to global markets. “Presence in international markets can have an effect on political, social and cultural grounds as well.”

He said that the export of oil can be seen as the top economic concern for Iran and that the sanctions had caused some trouble in that sector.

He said Iran’s share in world’s oil demand fell from 3.5% in 2003 to 1.26% in 2012 because of the sanctions.

“We must be thankful to Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh and his colleagues for bringing Iran’s oil exports up to 2.2m bpd by the end of the summer.”
