Turkey denies Israel’s claims about arming Hamas as ‘lies’

Hamas

The angry rebuttal came after Israel’s Foreign Minister Katz accused President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of “supplying arms and money to Hamas to kill Israelis”.

In a post on X in Turkish, Katz claimed that Israeli security services had dismantled “terrorist cells” that were “under directions from Hamas headquarters in Turkey”.

In response, Turkey’s Foreign Ministry announced that Israel’s top diplomat was “trying to conceal the crimes committed by Israel against the Palestinians behind a series of lies, slander and disrespect”.

“But Israel’s dirty propaganda and psychological pressure aimed at our country and our president will remain ineffective,” the ministry’s statement added.

Erdogan on Sunday stated Israel must face punishment for its actions to deter anyone “from considering such cruelty again”.

“Israel must face the consequences of its actions, ensuring that the punishment serves as a stark deterrent against anyone considering such cruelty again,” Erdogan was quoted as saying on Sunday.

The Turkish president urged the United States to exert pressure on Israel to end the “oppression” in Gaza.

“To end this oppression, it is necessary for the US administration to pressure Israel and withdraw its support from murderer Netanyahu and his associates,” Erdogan added.

Turkey has repeatedly condemned Israel’s assault on Gaza and criticized Western governments for their continued backing of the Zionist regime. Ankara halted trade with Tel Aviv soon after the war began last October.

Houthi leader claims Yemen more capable than ever to deal blows to Israel

Yemen Houthi

Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi made the remarks in a speech on Sunday, a day after Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes against Yemen’s strategic western province of Hudaydah, in retaliation for an earlier drone strike by Yemeni armed forces against Tel Aviv.

“Yemeni people are pleased to be in direct confrontation with the Israeli enemy, and they are steadfast and brave people,” the Houthi chief said, stressing that Israel cannot stop Yemen’s support for Gaza.

He went on to say that American and British warplanes continue to bomb Yemen in an attempt to stop the country’s anti-Israeli operations, launching 4 airstrikes in the port of Ras Issa in Hudaydah.

Houthi further noted that Israel’s aggression on Hudaydah “was aimed at Yemen’s economy,” arguing that the regime’s choice of targets in the port city proved it intended to harm the Yemeni’s livelihood.

He added that Israel sought to portray strikes as a “great achievement'” and “dealing a blow” to Yemen by showing the scenes of burning fires.

The Ansurallah leader emphasized that the US and UK have failed to stop or even weaken Yemen’s operations in support of Gaza, vowing to expand the scope of its operations as the genocidal war in Gaza continues.

Houthi also stressed that there needs to be more pressure to force Israel to stop its brutal aggression on Gaza as the war enters its tenth month.

The latest remarks came after Yemen’s Ministry of Public Health and Population announced the death toll from Israeli airstrikes on Hudaydah has risen to six.

Anis al-Asbahi, the Health Ministry spokesperson, said the victims were civilians, adding that 83 others have been injured, most of them seriously, while three people were also missing.

On Saturday, Israeli fighter jets carried out airstrikes against Hudaydah, with Yemen’s al-Masirah television network reporting that the attack targeted fuel storage facilities in the port city, igniting a fire in the area.

Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari stated that Israeli fighter jets attacked military targets in Hudaydah. He added the airstrikes were in response to the hundreds of attacks against Israel in recent months.

It was the first time the Israeli regime had publicly attacked Yemen in months of escalating tensions.

The aggression came a day after the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out a drone strike on Tel Aviv in response to the Israeli genocide in Gaza. The drone hit an area near a US consular facility in Tel Aviv early on Friday, killing one person and injuring 10 others as the Israeli air defenses failed to intercept the drone.

Yemenis have declared their open support for Palestine’s struggle against the Israeli occupation since the regime launched a devastating war on Gaza on October 7.

Yemeni Armed Forces have said that they won’t stop their attacks until Israeli ground and aerial offensives in Gaza, which have killed almost 39,000 people and wounded another 90,000 individuals, come to an end.

30-Year temperature record broken in Iran

Iran Heat

Last week, the average temperature in Iran was 1 degree Celsius above the long-term average.

Notably, the 30-year temperature record was shattered in the southeast region of the country, with 178 meteorological stations recording temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius.

In comparison, the average temperature in the warmest European countries does not reach 30 degrees Celsius.

However, last summer, 61,000 people in Europe died due to extreme heat.

The ceremony saw the presence of Seyyed Miad Salehi, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and CEO of the Railways of the Islamic Republic of Iran, along with the Chinese Deputy Ambassador, the Kazakh Ambassador, and the Turkmenistan Chargé d’Affaires to Iran.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, Salehi noted that the dual-load freight train would traverse through Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan towards China and vice versa.

He added that a mineral freight train would depart from Tehran’s to China on Sunday, addung about ten days ago, an automotive parts train had left China for Iran.

Salehi emphasized that this train could serve as a crucial infrastructure to enhance trade exchanges between Iran and China, potentially transforming Iran into a secure gateway for Chinese goods to Europe and vice versa.

He acknowledged the good cooperation from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan in launching this train.

Furthermore, Salehi announced the commencement of the first phase of the China-Iran-Europe rail corridor.

He highlighted the Iranian Government’s focus on developing rail transport diplomacy and expressed hope for the complete operationalization of this corridor in the near future.

No atrocity can help Zionists turn tables: Iran’s speaker

Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf

Addressing the Parliament on Sunday, Qalibaf said the Israeli regime has intensified attacks on civilians, schools and infrastructures in the Gaza Strip after finding itself in dire straits.

He also lashed out at Western leaders for remaining silent on the grave and barbaric Israeli crimes that have jeopardized the basics of human morality and civilization.

“The Zionist regime must bear in mind that it won’t be able to change the security equation that has been shaped against it on the field and in media with any bloodshed,” the Iranian speaker added.

Qalibaf also reminded the Israeli regime that the resistance forces have taken the initiative, echoing recent comments from Secretary General of Lebanese Hezbollah Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah that Israel will have to face reactions it has never experienced before if it keeps attacking civilian targets.

At least 38,900 Palestinian people have been killed and 89,600 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza since October 7, 2023.

White House discusses sanctioning Israeli ministers over settler violence in West Bank: US officials

Betzalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben Gvir

The Joe Biden administration is deeply frustrated that the Israeli government has pursued a policy of expanding settlements and weakening the Palestinian Authority, and that more extreme members of the government are openly allied with extremist settler groups.

The White House meeting was convened after another surge in violence by extremist settlers against Palestinians, and an Israeli government decision to plan and build another 5,000 housing units in the settlements and legalize five outposts.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) stated in a non-binding opinion published on Friday that, through the settlements, Israel had illegally annexed large parts of the Palestinian territories.

The Biden administration also considers the settlements inconsistent with international law.

Earlier this year, President Biden signed an unprecedented executive order allowing sanctions on Israeli settlers. Two rounds of sanctions have been issued thus far.

When Biden signed that order, senior White House officials recommended the president sanction Betzalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben Gvir — the ultranationalist ministers of finance and national security respectively.

Biden rejected that proposal on the basis that the US should not sanction elected officials in democratic countries, according to a senior US official.

Several of their supporters and confidants have been sanctioned since, but not Smotrich or Ben Gvir. The idea was discussed again this week in the NSC meeting but no decision was made.

US Ambassador to Israel Jack Lew proposed engaging with Smotrich in hopes of changing his behavior, rather than boycotting him, the officials added.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has delegated most authority over the West Bank to Smotrich, whose broad portfolio gives him wide-ranging authority over building in the settlements.

Himself a settler, Smotrich has publicly vowed to make the two-state solution impossible. He has taken numerous actions to expand the settlements, legalize outposts, weaken the Palestinian Authority economically and support settlers who attack Palestinians.

Meanwhile, Ben Gvir has ordered the Israeli police not to take action against settlers who attack Palestinians and not to protect aid convoys en route to Gaza from being looted by Israeli extremists.

Iran strongly condemns Israeli strikes on Yemen

Nasser Kanaani

In a statement on Saturday night, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani condemned the Israeli attacks, saying the oppressed, but strong people of Yemen are paying the price for their noble support for the innocent people, including women and children, of Gaza.

He added the attacks, which led to the destruction of the civilian infrastructure of Hudaydah and the martyrdom and injury of many Yemenis, show the savage nature of the child-killing Israeli regime.

Kanaani further warned about the risk of an escalation of tensions and the spillover of the war across the region as a result of dangerous adventurism by the Zionists.

He also described the continuous killing and all-out siege of the defenseless residents of the Gaza Strip as the root cause of the current tensions in the region, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

Peace will not return to West Asia as long as the Zionist regime’s aggression continues in Palestine, especially the Gaza Strip, the spokesman said.

Kanaani noted that the Zionist regime and its supporters, including the US government, are directly responsible for the dangerous and unpredictable consequences of the continuation of crimes in Gaza as well as the attacks on Yemen.

The Yemeni Ministry of Health has said three people were killed and 87 wounded, many with severe burns as a result of the Israeli strikes.

The air raids on Saturday were carried out a day after the Yemeni forces claimed responsibility for a drone attack that killed one person in Tel Aviv and injured 10 others.

Al Masirah TV said the Israeli attack targeted oil storage facilities and a power plant in Hudaydah, igniting a fire.

Iran Leader: Gaza is still foremost issue of Islamic world

Ayatollah Khamenei

The Leader made the remarks in a meeting with Iran’s new parliament members and President-Elect Massoud Pezeshkian on Sunday.

On Gaza, he said, “It is true that many people don’t have that initial passion after months, but the truth is that the same significance of the first days, even more, exists today.”

Ayatollah Khamenei also praised the resistance movements for “showing their power more day by day.”

“A massive military, political and economic establishment like the US is fighting with a resistance group behind the usurping Zionist regime, but they have failed to bring them down to their knees,” He said and further explained, “Since they cannot bring Hamas to its knees and they cannot bring the resistance to its knees, they take it out on people and drop bombs on them.”

The Leader added the issue is not over as people in the world are judging the Israeli regime. He advised the lawmakers not to remain silent in the face of the Israeli atrocities.

On domestic front, Ayatollah Khamenei called on the lawmakers to forge constructive interaction between the parliament and the newly elected president and his administration.
