IRGC cmdr. reaffirms Iran’s enduring support for Hezbollah

Esmail Qaani

Qaani emphasized Iran’s unwavering support for Hezbollah’s mission, underscoring a shared commitment to resist Zionism and pursue the liberation of Palestine and Al-Quds.

He praised Qassem’s dedication, recognizing him as a distinguished figure within Shia and resistance communities.

Referring to the legacy of the martyrs, including former Hezbollah leaders such as Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, Qaani conveyed deep respect for those who had sacrificed their lives against Zionist aggression.

Germany closes Iran’s consulates after execution of terror group’s ringleader

Jamshid Sharmahd

Speaking to reporters in New York, Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said Sharmahd was executed despite Berlin’s intense diplomatic endeavour at the highest political level.

“We have repeatedly made it clear to Tehran that the execution of a German citizen will have serious consequences, so I have decided to close Iran’s consulate generals in Frankfurt am Main, Munich and Hamburg,” she added.

Sharmahd, who was convicted last year, was executed on Monday. He was behind a series of terrorist attacks, including a 2008 attack against a religious congregation center in the southern Iranian city of Shiraz, which killed 14 people, including 5 women and an infant, and wounded hundreds more.

Following his execution, Germany’s Foreign Ministry protested to Iran by recalling its envoy to Tehran and summoning the Iranian charge d’affaires in Berlin. German officials have claimed that the Iranian Judiciary system lacked legal jurisdiction for the terrorism case involving the Iranian national, who held a German passport and lived in the United States.

Likewise, Tehran summoned German Ambassador Markus Potzel over Berlin officials meddling in the internal affairs of Iran.

In defense of the Iranian Judiciary’s execution of Sharmahd, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi said granting a German passport to an individual does not provide impunity, not least to a “terrorist”.

Addressing Baerbock in an X post on Tuesday, Araghchi censured arrogant claims of human rights by German officials, stressing even the German people made fun of them for their hypocrisy.

In Iran, no terrorist is entitled to immunity even if that terrorist is backed by Germany, the Iranian minister added.

Upcoming Russia-Iran treaty to include closer defense collaboration: Moscow

Iran and Russia Flags

“The treaty on a comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Iran that is being prepared will become a serious factor in strengthening Russian-Iranian relations,” Lavrov told state television on Thursday.

He said the agreement is being prepared for signing “in the near future”.

Russia has announced it expects Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian to visit Moscow before the end of the year.

“It will confirm the parties’ desire for closer cooperation in the field of defense and interaction in the interests of peace and security at the regional and global levels,” Lavrov added.

He did not specify what form the defense ties would take.

The comprehensive cooperation agreement aims to enhance cooperation between Iran and Russia in various fields, reflecting the strategic partnership between the two nations.

Iran and Russia have maintained a strategic partnership for many years, with collaboration spanning various fields such as energy, defense, and trade.

Both countries have faced international sanctions and have worked together to mitigate their impact on their respective economies.

One child killed, 10 injured every day in Lebanon since October 4: UNICEF

Lebanon War

Many other children, though unharmed physically, are deeply traumatized by the violence, it announced, adding that many have shown severe signs of emotional distress, including separation anxiety, withdrawal, aggression and concentration problems.

Many children suffer from disrupted sleep, nightmares, headaches and loss of appetite, and without the stability of school, they lack spaces to play, learn and heal, it added.

UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell urged for an immediate ceasefire to protect children.

“The ongoing war in Lebanon is upending children’s lives, and in many cases, inflicting severe physical wounds and deep emotional scars,” Russell stated.

“War tears apart the safe and nurturing environments children need. When children are forced to endure prolonged periods of traumatic stress, they face severe health and psychological risks, and the consequences can last a lifetime.”

Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health reported that 166 children killed and 1,168 injured since October last year.

The death toll from Israeli assault against Lebanon since last October has hit 2,820, the ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

The statement added 12,937 people have also been injured since offensive began.

Israel has mounted a huge air campaign in Lebanon since September against what it claims are Hezbollah targets, in an escalation from a year of cross-border warfare since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip.

Tel Aviv also launched a ground invasion of Lebanon on Oct. 1.

Hamas official dismisses short-term Gaza truce

Gaza War

“The idea of a temporary pause in the war, only to resume aggression later, is something we have already expressed our position on. Hamas supports a permanent end to the war, not a temporary one,” Taher al-Nunu, a senior leader of the movement, told AFP.

Mediators seeking to broker a Gaza ceasefire are expected to propose a truce of “less than a month” to Hamas, a source with knowledge of the talks told AFP on Wednesday.

Meetings between Mossad head David Barnea, CIA Director Bill Burns and Qatar’s prime minister in Doha, which concluded on Monday, discussed proposing a “short-term” truce of “less than a month”, the source said on condition of anonymity because of the talks’ sensitivity.

The proposal involves exchanging Israeli hostages for Palestinians in Israeli prisons and increasing aid to Gaza, the source added.

“US officials believe that if a short-term deal can be reached, it could lead to a more permanent agreement,” the source noted.

Nunu stated that the group had not received any proposal so far, adding if it gets such a plan, it would respond.

However, he reiterated the demands the group has been insisting on for months – “a permanent ceasefire, withdrawal (of Israeli forces) from Gaza, the return of displaced people, sufficient humanitarian aid to Gaza and a serious prisoner exchange deal”.

Dozens of hostages taken from Israel during the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks are still being held in Gaza. There are 101 hostages still held in the blockaded strip, Israeli authorities say, but as many as one-third of them are thought to be dead.

Israel has continued its military onslaught on Gaza following the attack by the resistance movement, despite a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire.

More than 43,000 Palestinians have since been killed, mostly women and children, and over 101,000 injured, according to local health authorities.

The Israeli offensive has displaced almost the entire population of the territory amid an ongoing blockade that has led to severe shortages of food, clean water and medicine.

Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza.

Mediation efforts to reach a Gaza ceasefire and prisoner swap agreement between Israel and Hamas have failed over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s refusal to halt the war.

Israeli police say detained couple accused of spying for Iran

Israeli Police

The police and the Shin Bet internal security agency said in a statement that the arrested man, Rafael Guliev from the central city of Lod, had surveilled Israel’s Mossad spy headquarters for the Iranians.

He also allegedly collected information on an academic working at the Institute for National Security Studies, a prominent Israeli think tank. The Israeli statement did not identify the scholar.

The statement added Guliev was also entrusted with finding an assassin, though it was unclear if he had actually done so. Guliev’s wife, Lala, assisted in the activities, the Israeli authorities claimed.

Israeli security services say they have uncovered several Iranian spy networks in recent months.

Tehran has not directly commented on the cases, including the claims on Thursday.

Trump told Netanyahu to end Gaza war by January if he wins election: Report

Gaza War

Trump made the demand to Netanyahu when the pair met at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida in July, the Israeli news site reported, citing “a former Trump administration official and an Israeli official”.

Four months before the meeting, Trump told the Israel Hayom news outlet that “you have to finish up your war”, calling the destruction of civilian homes in Gaza “a very bad picture for the world”. Trump, who often touts his close relationship with Netanyahu and his support for Israel, said a week before the meeting that Israel should end the war “fast… because they are getting decimated with this [negative] publicity”.

In his public statements, Trump has never set a timeline for Netanyahu to cease military operations.

The officials who spoke to the Times of Israel stressed that Trump did not define what he would consider an end to the conflict, with the American source saying the Republican could very well support “residual” activity by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in Gaza.

Netanyahu has repeatedly stated that the IDF will continue to wage war until it achieves “total victory” over Hamas, and that Israel will maintain “full security control” over the strip afterwards.

Speaking to lawmakers from his Likud party earlier this week, Netanyahu said that he “can’t agree” to Hamas’ demand that the IDF withdraw from Gaza in exchange for the release of the roughly 100 hostages still held by the Palestinian militants.

Any pre-inauguration day victory, the American official said, must include the release of these hostages.

Further complicating matters is the fact that Netanyahu’s hardline coalition partners have signaled multiple times since last October that they would withdraw from government – tanking Netanyahu’s political career – at the first sign of any ceasefire with Hamas.

Despite his pro-Israel stance, Trump has made inroads with Arab-American voters by promising to end the fighting in Gaza and Lebanon. In a social media post on Wednesday aimed at Lebanese-Americans, Trump declared that the conflict in their homeland was “caused by Kamala Harris and Joe Biden”, and said that he would ensure “your friends and family in Lebanon… live in peace, prosperity, and harmony with their neighbors”.

Iranian Air Defense commander: Israeli aggression will not affect Army’s resolve

Alireza Sabahifard

In a message on Thursday, General Sabahifard emphasized that the Israeli aggression, the latest of which killed 4 Iranian army officers will not impact the resolve of Iran’s military forces.

General Sabahifard praised the Iranian forces, saying they were inspired by the martyrs and experiences of the Iran-Iraq War in 1980s.

He undermined the Israeli aggression on Iranian military targets as ‘desperate,’ arguing they will have no impact on the power if the country’s armed forces.

The statement comes amid heightened tensions in the region, with ongoing conflicts and aggressive actions by the Israeli regime.

The Iranian military says it has been on high alert, ensuring the security and sovereignty of the nation, with the country’s Air Defense Force playing a crucial role in protecting Iran’s airspace and responding to any threats.

North Korean soldiers with Russian uniforms, equipment moving toward Ukraine: US

North Korean Soldiers

Speaking at the Pentagon alongside South Korean Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun, Austin called the deployment “dangerous and destabilizing”, and said he was increasingly concerned that Moscow plans to use the North Korean soldiers to support its fighting near the border with Ukraine.

He and Kim both called on Pyongyang to withdraw its troops, which Austin stated has the potential of lengthening or broadening the conflict.

The US this week assessed at least 10,000 North Koreans were in Russia, with some already in Kursk, while South Korea has put the number at 11,000.

Austin would not speculate on when North Korean soldiers could enter the conflict, noting it’s something that the US and its allies would continue to watch and work “to discourage Russia from employing these troops in combat”.

Kim said there’s a “high chance” North Korea is seeking nuclear weapon and intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) technology from Russia in exchange for its troop deployment.

“North Korea is very likely to ask for technology transfers in diverse areas including the technologies relating to tactical nuclear weapons, technologies related to their advancement of ICBM, also those regarding reconnaissance satellites and those regarding [submarine technology] as well,” Kim added.

While Kim said he didn’t necessarily believe the North Korean troop deployment would cause war to break out on the Korean Peninsula, any exchanged Kremlin weapons technology could escalate security threats between the two neighbors.

Moscow and Pyongyang’s expanding relationship has concerned the US and its allies, as the West fears it could prolong the conflict in Europe and destabilize the Indo-Pacific region.

Austin suggested that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s use of the North Koreans “underscores how much trouble he is in” after suffering massive casualties over more than two-years of fighting.

The Pentagon chief is expected to continue the conversations on Russia and North Korea on Thursday, when he and Kim are set to meet with Secretary of State Antony Blinken and South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul at the State Department.

Iran should not respond to Israel’s attack: US

Iran Attack Israel

“Iran should not respond to Israel’s retaliation,” Jean-Pierre said, before adding that “if Iran does choose to respond, however, the US will be standing by to assist Israel in its defense”.

Israel’s recent raids on Iran will be met with a “definitive and painful” response that will likely come before the US presidential vote, a high-ranking source told CNN on Wednesday.

US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller did not offer an assessment about what Iran “may or may not do”, but reiterated that the US believes “they should not respond”.

Miller did not say if Iran had conveyed to the US an intention to respond before November 5.

“I’m not going to talk about communications between our two government, real or imagined. But as we have made clear publicly, and I can tell you that Iran knows this message quite clearly, they should not continue to escalate this conflict,” he said at a press briefing Wednesday.

The Israeli regime attacked several Iranian military facilities early Saturday, killing four servicemen of the Armed Forces and one civilian.

The Iranian Air Defense Forces said in a statement that the country’s integrated air defense system successfully intercepted and countered the Israeli strikes targeting military locations in Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam provinces.

The attacks caused limited damage in some locations and the dimensions of the incident are under investigation, the statement added.

Iran has strongly condemned the Israeli assault as a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter, reiterating its right to defend itself against foreign acts of aggression. Tehran has stressed that it is not looking for war but will not abandon its right to give an appropriate and firm response to Israel’s latest onslaught.
