Iranian FM Zarif Starts Tour of African Countries

Zarif

Here is IFP’s translation of media reports about Zarif’s tour of Africa:

Heading a political and economic delegation, Zarif left Tehran for Abuja on Sunday morning, July 24.

During his Africa tour, he is going to visit Nigeria, Ghana, Guinea (Conakry), and Mali and meet and confer with the high-ranking officials of these countries.

He is also planned to take part in meetings with economic activists and businessmen in these four countries.

The Iranian top diplomat will return to Iran on Friday, July 29.

This is the third visit of Zarif to African countries. Zarif’s first tour of Africa was before the nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers in winter 2014. He visited Kenya, Ugandan, Tanzania, Zanzibar, and Burundi in eastern Africa at that time.

Also in summer 2015, Zarif visited Tunisia and Algeria in northern Africa, Daneshju reported.

Earlier on July 23, Hossein Molla-Abdollahi, the Director-General of Africa Department at the Iranian Foreign Ministry, underlined the importance of Zarif’s upcoming visit to Africa, and stressed that the positive atmosphere created after the nuclear deal makes the visit different from the previous one.

“The visit is of a special importance, because it is made in a positive and different atmosphere compared with the ones made before the nuclear deal,” Molla-Abdollahi said in an interview with ISNA, which was translated by IFP.

“JCPOA has provided Iran with good opportunities to increase its interaction with different countries and promote mutual cooperation.”

“African countries are no exception, and we need to tap into the numerous opportunities created by the JCPOA for the country’s foreign policies quickly and accurately,” he went on to say.

Kariz Underground City in Iran’s Kish Island

Kariz Underground City 00

Now, Kariz has opened up a new exceptional chapter for all nature lovers who are able to visit the largest coral collection directly. Various other facilities, such as residential, shopping, and leisure centres in an area of 60,000 square meters will be built on Kariz grounds.

Its experienced advocates took on the painstaking design work and have tried to keep its historic fabric while providing new uses during its renovation.

The city is located 16 metres beneath the ground. Its ceilings are eight metres high and mostly covered by fossils, shells, and corals estimated to be 270 to 570 million years old.  Each one has been identified and they all have official IDs.

It is the only structure with a ceiling of natural shells and corals, for which there were only two ways to be sees– natural museums or scuba diving in free waters.

And finally, it must be said that the earth excavated from Kariz has much medicinal value and will have abundant use in “mud treatment”.

The ground above Kariz will be transformed into a large park with two high hills. These hills are made of the excavated grounds of Kariz and will turn into a unique view of Kish Island.

IRGC Busts Terror Cells, Kills 23 in Northwestern Iran

IRGC

Brigadier General Majid Arjmandfar, an IRGC commander, said on Saturday, July 24, that the two terror cells were successfully busted in the provinces of Kordestan and West Azerbaijan.

They were among five terror groups in total operating in northwestern Iran with the aim of destabilizing the country, he added.

The Iranian troops also engaged the remaining terror groups, inflicting losses on them and forcing their elements to flee the scene, Arjmandfar noted.

He said IRGC forces killed 23 of the terrorists in the clashes and inflicted heavy damage on their bases near the border line.

The counterterrorism operations are underway in the northwestern parts of the country, said the commander, adding that “since last year, Saudi and American intelligence networks have launched a unified agenda to create insecurity in Iran.”

The two countries had ties with “old terrorist groups and PJAK,” an offshoot of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), pledging to equip and finance the terrorists in meetings held by their missions in Germany and the semi-autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan Region, Arjmandfar further said.

“No matter where these terrorist groups are present to create insecurity, we will nip their terrorist operation and plots in the bud, if we wish,” he said.

Iranian forces have recently engaged in clashes with terror groups, thwarting their terrorist activities on the frontier and within the country, arresting several of them and confiscating large amounts of explosives and bomb-making materials.

On Saturday, Mohsen Rezaei, the secretary of Iran’s Expediency Council, accused the Saudi diplomatic mission in Iraq’s northwest of assisting the notorious Komala terror group in sending militants to Iran.

“In an attempt to interfere in the affairs of Iran and Iraq, the Saudi consulate in Iraq’s northwest helps the Komala terror group dispatch terrorists to Iran,” he said, noting that the plots have all failed due to the “vigilance” of Iranian forces.

“The Saudis are the most evil administration on earth and throw the region into turmoil by their insanity,” he further stated.

Larijani Raps Saudi Arabia’s Open Hostility against Iran

Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani
Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani

Saudi Arabia and certain Western countries are taking obstructive measures to prevent Iran from benefitting from advantages of the post-JCPOA conditions, Larijani said in a gathering of religious activists on Saturday.

He was referring to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, a lasting nuclear deal between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), which took effect in January.

What Saudis are doing in the region against Iran is an open feud, the speaker added, making a reference to the Saudi foreign minister’s recent emphasis on impeding any economic gains for Iran.

Fuming about the West’s engagement with Iran and implementation of the JCPOA, the Riyadh regime accuses Tehran of destabilizing the region.

Iran describes the accusations as baseless, saying they are made by a country that has gained notoriety for fostering the Takfiri ideology and supporting terrorists in the Middle East.

Iran Criticizes Media Hype over Munich Shooter’s Nationality

Bahram Qassemi

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi on Saturday night criticized intentional anti-Iran media hype after reports that the 18-year-old shooter in the Munich massacre was a German-Iranian, saying what Iran knows is that the assailant was a German national and had been born in Munich.

Qassemi said the Foreign Ministry has no definite information about the case yet, adding that the Iranian diplomatic missions in Germany and the consulate in Berlin have been tasked with studying the case and reporting back to Tehran.

He underlined that Iran’s principled policy is denouncing violence, terrorism and killing of innocent people at the hands of any group or individual.

Iran, as a victim of terrorism, immediately condemned the shooting attack and would never remain silent on such incidents, the spokesman added.

He also decried as a “psychological war” the reports by some regional media outlets which allege that the Munich shooter had been Iranian, saying they have links with certain countries that are known as the “true fathers of al-Qaeda, Daesh and the Taliban” and make such allegations to whitewash their own terrible records.

The spokesperson stressed that Iranian communities are well respected all around the world and that Iranians abroad are among the best citizens in the countries they live.

The Munich shooting attacker has been identified by German police as Ali David Sonboly. He launched the killing spree in the Bavarian city in an apparent revenge attack for being bullied.

The young man killed 10 people and injured 16 others with a pistol before committing suicide.

Centre for Living Reptiles in Isfahan

Reptiles11

Living Reptiles Garden situated in Najvan Natural Park was established in 2012. It mainly aims to make people familiar with different kinds of reptiles and their various species.

According to a report by ILNA, the centre also aims to introduce snakes as one of the most valuable creatures in the nature cycle with lots of benefits: They control agricultural and garden pests, and their poison is used to produce medicine, among other things.

Iran Condemns Terrorist Attack in Kabul

fm

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi in a statement on Saturday night offered condolences to the Afghan government, nation and families of victims of the deadly terrorist attack that targeted a demonstration by members of Afghanistan’s Hazara minority in Kabul.

Slamming the attack as “inhumane and non-Islamic”, Qassemi said Iran maintains that tackling terrorism would be impossible without global cooperation and mutual understanding within the international community.

Twin explosions targeting a large demonstration by Hazara people in Kabul killed at least 80 people and wounded more than 230.

The attack which occurred near one of the most heavily fortified areas of the Afghan capital, was quickly claimed by the Daesh (ISIL) terrorists, who have previously targeted the Hazara people.

Iran’s FM Urges Shiites, Sunnis to Unite against Extremists

Zarif

“Afghanistan terror bombings another instance of depth of Daesh depravity: Shia & Sunni are both victims & must unite to defeat extremists,” Zarif tweeted late on Saturday.

His message came after two successive suicide attacks ripped through the district of Dehmazang in Kabul Saturday where hundreds of people were protesting over a controversial power line.

At least 80 people were killed and 230 others sustained serious injuries.

139505021503002058195844Later in the day, the Daesh (also known as ISIL and ISIS) claimed responsibility for the bombings.

The demonstrators had gathered to demand that a multi-million-dollar power line pass through their electricity-starved province of Bamiyan, one of the most deprived areas of Afghanistan with a large Hazara population.

The so-called 500-kilovolt TUTAP power line, which would connect the Central Asian nations of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan with electricity-hungry Afghanistan and Pakistan, was originally set to pass through the central province.

But the government re-routed it through the mountainous Salang pass north of Kabul, saying the shorter route would speed up the project and save millions of dollars.

Israeli Patriot Missiles, Fired at Iranian Drone, Crash into Each Other!

Yasir

The UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) that flew on July 17 over northern Israel was a “Yasir” drone made in Iran that was launched from a Hezbollah base in Syria’s Qalamoun Mountains, some 60km from central Golan. This is reported by DEBKAfile military and intelligence sources.

The Yasir can reach an altitude of 5,000 feet, operate in a 200km radius and stay aloft for 8 hours, as reported by Tabnak and translated by IFP.

The Israeli website says there is no information as to whether it was launched by an Iranian or a Hezbollah team.

This UAV displayed exceptional maneuverability, unlike most drones, since it is believed to the advanced US electronic systems installed by reverse engineering of the American US ScanEagle drone that was downed intact over Iran on Dec. 17, 2012.

The Israeli website’s military and intelligence sources say this fundamental upgrade was carried out under the instruction of Chinese cyber warfare specialists.

The IDF, the Israeli air force and other western armies, including the US Air Force, are anxiously trying to find out how many replicas of the purloined US ScanEagle the Iranians have been able to manufacture.

They all watched the Iranian drone’s performance in evading Israeli air force jets and helicopters and ducking air-to-air missiles and Patriot surface-to-aircraft missiles before flying back to Syria after spending the best part of an hour over the Golan and Upper Galilee.

On October 2013, when Lt. Gen. Viktor Bondarev, the Russian Air Force Commander, visited Tehran, the Iranians made him a gift of a drone into which the sophisticated US electronic systems were implanted.

This would explain why the Russian command in Syria omitted to intervene or warn Israel of the approach of an alien UAV from Syria – in breach of the coordination agreement between Israel and Russia.

DEBKAfile’s military sources add that the two Patriot missiles fired at the drone veered off course and crashed into each other. This was most probably one of the effects caused by the Iranian-Hezbollah drone’s pirated US electronic capabilities.
