Thousands Attend Funeral for Victims of Iran Terror Attack

People turned out in droves to attend the funeral which was held on September 24, 2018.

They chanted slogans against the US and hypocrites while paying their last respect to the victims.

Present at the ceremony was Iranian Intelligence Minister Mohammad Alavi, who offered condolences on the tragedy.

“The criminals who committed this crime should know that people of Islamic Iran will not remain silent in the face of this crime. The crime of killing a 6-year-old child and shooting women and children is not something that the Islamic Republic can condone,” said the minister.

“The terrorists were killed, and their accomplices will be identified to the last person thanks to efforts by security, police and judicial authorities,” he added.

The intelligence minister said most of the perpetrators have been identified and they will face justice.

“That will send the world the message that Iran is no place for such crimes, and that criminals will pay the price for their acts,” he said.

Rouhani in New York to Tell UNGA US Violating Int’l Law

Speaking upon arrival at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport on Monday, the president said the atmosphere of this year’s meeting is different from the previous years.

“Our goal is to explain Iran’s policies on the region and the world in these gatherings,” he said.

“Unfortunately, Americans have refused to fulfill many of their obligations across the world, including those under the JCPOA, and this is a chance to explain their violations and breaches of international rules,” he said.

The US walked out of the nuclear accord early May, and it is currently restoring anti-Iran sanctions suspended under the accord.

Washington is also working to cut Iran’s global trade and hamper the country’s oil sale.

US President Donald Trump, who has hardened the US line on Iran since taking power in January 2017,  will dedicate a big part of his UNGA speech to Iran.

Rouhani also said Monday he will meet some world leaders and attend meetings and gives interviews on the sidelines of the 73th round of UNGA.

Iran’s Revenge Is Coming, DM Warns Ahvaz Attack Sponsors

Iran’s DM Vows Firm Response to Enemy’s Moves

“Terrorists await the revenge of the Iranian nation,” he said while speaking in the funeral ceremony of martyrs of the attack on Monday.

General Hatami blamed the attack on the world arrogance, namely the US, Israel and their regional allies, saying they are resorting to terrorist groups to foment chaos and insecurity inside Iran to weaken the resolve of the nation.

“The Iranian nation has proved in the past 40 years that it won’t abandon its ideals and strong beliefs,” he said.

“Such blind [attacks] and inhumane moves won’t weaken the Iranian nation’s resolve to realize noble goals of the revolution,” he said.

Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi and Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi were also present in the funeral ceremony, among other high-ranking officials.

On Saturday, Four gunmen opened fire on civilians and military personnel near a military parade commemorating the beginning of the Sacred Defence Week, marking the start of the Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein’s war on Iran in 1980.

Th separatist group Al-Ahwazieh and ISIS terrorists have claimed responsibility for the attack.

Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said the US puppet states in the region were behind the attacks.

Oil Prices to Go Down If Trump Keeps Quiet: Iran

Hossein Kazempour Ardebili told CNBC on Sunday he “thinks what the Americans do will lead to an increase in oil prices.”

“If they remain silent, prices will drop. I’m sure about that. I’m telling him (Trump) to remain silent and not post any tweets. Then oil prices will become better,” said Iran’s OPEC envoy.

He further noted that the Trump administration has brought politics into the oil group.

“The US government seeks to bring politics into OPEC. This government aims to sow discord among members of this organization and secure its own interests by decreasing oil prices,” he said.

The Iranian representative said Washington’s political pressure on OPEC members is not acceptable.

Trump has said that crude prices are high and that OPEC should bring down prices. Trump has also called for a rise in oil output to make up for a possible shortage in petroleum supplies by Iran, Venezuela and Libya on world markets.

Kazempour Ardebili is in Algeria to attend the 10th Joint OPEC-Non-OPEC Ministerial Monitoring Committee (JMMC), which opened on September 23, 2018 in the capital, Algiers.

The committee is chaired by Saudi Arabia, bringing together delegates from 24 countries, including Iran.

“Iranians Always Sacrificing Lives to Defend Homeland”

Ahmad Masjed Jamei, a member of Tehran’s City Council, has elaborated on the bravery and patriotism of Iranians in the wake of a deadly terrorist attack on a military parade in the southern Iranian city of Ahvaz. The full text of his article, published by Iran newspaper, follows.

Iran is a large, vast and historical country full of blessings. Iran is the heritage of great human civilizations. Iran does not have quarries only. A diverse culture, language and interconnected social groups are also part of this land’s assets. Iran is a country of diversity and pluralism, and its residents were familiar with these differences and lived side by side in peace and harmony. The rapport and affinity among Iranians can be clearly seen in the incidents which occurred in recent days. Some believe history is manifested in political unity only. However, what counts and has contributed to the steadfastness of Iran over a long period of time is spiritual unity which goes even beyond the unity of words. In fact, it has been the spirit of Iran that has kept Iranians together under any circumstances.

Spiritual unity has its roots in the climate as well as what is described as “eternal memories” such stories of heroes and bravery and defending a country’s territory. Hence, in the past, in addition to Iranian historians, a group of historians from other countries, too, began their works by mentioning the names of Iranian rulers and kings

Renowned Iranian poet Ferdowsi’s magnum opus “The book of Kings” contains stories about Iranians from different localities and language backgrounds as well as people and heroes who defend this land. Each of them are from a different land. What brings them together is the name of Iran, and they compete with each other in protecting this land and its customs and common traditions.

These heroic acts are also manifested in the domains of culture, art and industry. So, the world of Iran goes beyond geographical boundaries.

Iranians’ attempts to defend the country’s territorial integrity are clearly seen in the contemporary era as well. Those who believed this land might be disintegrated would come to the capital and joined their compatriots to put an end to the Qajar despotism. They wanted the rule of law to take hold in Iran. They also wanted a parliament whose members were elected through popular vote. Maybe nothing hurt the feelings of Iranians nationwide more than the shelling of the parliament by Vladimir Liakhov, the commander of the Persian Cossack Brigade during the rule of Mohammad Ali Shah Qajar. Iranians could not afford to remain indifferent toward their common history and legacy and could not think about themselves and protecting their own situation only. They could not stay away from that chaos and, worst of all, only think of getting away from the center and separate part of Iran in their own name. At other points in time, too, whenever certain individuals enjoying the overt and covert support of foreigners wanted to trigger unrest, the Iranian general public stood up to them. The integrity of this Iranian spirit was manifested more than ever during the Iraqi imposed war on Iran in the 1980s.

The first group which stood up to the Iraqi aggression was comprised of our Arab and non-Arab compatriots from Soosangerd and Shadegan and other border areas. Soon after, many Iranian youth from all across the nation lost their lives as they were fighting alongside brave amphibious commandos and brave Air Force pilots and devotees of the Basij Force and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and the Army to not allow even an inch of the Iranian territory to remain under the enemy’s boots and protect Iranian unity and identity.

Iran Rejects Accusations Raised in US’ Report on Terrorism

“The unfounded and baseless accusations levelled by the US against the Islamic Republic of Iran come as the Saturday terrorist attack on a military parade in Iran’s southwestern city of Ahvaz revealed to the world Iran is one of the main victims of terrorism,” Qassemi said in a Sunday statement.

“This is a completely clear and objective reality which has been neglected by regimes like that of the US over the past four decades. Such regimes continue to view their support for extremist and terrorist groups as a means to press ahead with their goals while pretending to be fighting terrorism,” he added.

Qassemi went on to say that various US administrations have long been adopting the policy of creating, strengthening, supporting and deploying terrorist groups in various parts of the world in order to implement their macro strategies for destabilizing other states.

“Publishing such annual reports, which are more like a blame game aimed at acquitting oneself and accusing others, unveils the US’ double and conflicting standards over the past decades,” he noted.

He said the Trump administration’s explicit support for notorious terrorist groups who have the blood of thousands of innocent Iranian civilians on their hands reveals the absurd and fake humanitarian and anti-terrorism gestures of Washington.

The spokesman then referred to the US regime’s support for several extremist and terrorist groups over the past years which led to a chain of crises in the Middle East and said the US accusations against the Islamic Republic of Iran come as Washington’s contribution to the terrorist and extremist activities in the world as well as its new role in protecting the remnants of terrorists in Syria and transferring foreign terrorists to Afghanistan and central Asian states are no secret any more.

“Based on its policy of using terrorism as an instrument and its belief in good and bad terrorism, the US continues to prolong the lifetime of the nasty phenomenon of terrorism in the world particularly in the Middle East. The US must be held accountable for the brutal behaviours and measures of the groups,” he noted.

The spokesman advised the US administration and officials to abandon their old policies of promoting Iranophobia and levelling unfounded and unrealistic accusations against the country and called on them to correct their mistakes and wrong policies towards the region through certain measures including cutting its connection with known and unknown terrorist cells.

He also said the US administration should begin its fight against regional terrorism and extremism through fully transparent coordination with the regional states.

The US should also replace its policy of supporting terrorist groups to kill innocent people with the new policy of serving humans and humanity, he added.

IRGC Vows to Take Revenge for Ahvaz Terrorist Attack

In a Sunday statement, the IRGC promised to spare no effort under the guidance of the country’s upper leadership to prepare the ground and provide the required tools to chase the perpetrators in the region and beyond and put them on trial.

“The terrorist attack by the brutal mercenaries of the global arrogant powers and regional reactionary states in Ahvaz revealed that the sworn enemies of the Islamic Republic of Iran particularly the western-Arabic-Hebrew triangle are seeking to create insecurity inside Iran to cover up their earlier failures to advance their regional plots,” the statement said.

The IRGC also noted that to achieve their nasty goals, the enemies are ready to even massacre innocent people including women and children.

The statement then underlined that the attack on Ahvaz military parade will have no effect on the firm resolve of Iran’s Islamic Establishment and people.

Relying on its experiences in fight against terrorism, the IRGC would take revenge against the mercenaries of the self-proclaimed defenders of human rights as well as the sponsors of the terrorist groups in the region.

At least 25 people were killed and over 60 others injured in the terrorist attack on a parade in Ahvaz held to mark the Sacred Defence Week in Iran.

The IRGC’s statement came after the Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei ordered the country’s security forces to find the perpetrators of the terror attack and have them punished by the Iranian Judiciary.

Iran Summons UAE Envoy over Remarks on Ahvaz Attack

Photo of Abdulkhaleq Abdulla, a former advisor to the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and a university professor

“Following the absurd remarks made by an Emirati political advisor over the Ahvaz terrorist attack, the political department of the Iranian foreign ministry summoned the Arab country’s charge’ d’affaires and expressed the Islamic Republic’s strong protest over the irresponsible and insulting remarks,” Qassemi said on Sunday.

During the meeting, he said, the UAE diplomat was warned that any overt support for terrorist attacks by people affiliated to official centres in the Arab country will have legal responsibility for the UAE government.

Qassemi stressed that the UAE’s indifference towards the issue is not acceptable to the Islamic Republic.

The comments came after Abdulkhaleq Abdulla, a university professor who used to serve as an advisor to Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince, said the attack by militants on a military parade was not an act of terror.

In a tweet immediately after the terrorist attack, Abdulla said the attack was part of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s vow to bring the conflict inside the Iranian territory, and more will come in the future.

Earlier, Iran also summoned the British, Dutch and Danish envoys over the terrorist attack. At least 25 people, among them women children, were killed when terrorists targeted a military parade in Ahvaz.
