Referring to the Israeli forces’ killing of several Palestinians including a resistance commander in Gaza, Qassemi said terrors, crimes and aggression of the usurper regime of Israel still go on with the support and encouragement of the US government amid the silence and accompaniment of some regional countries.

He also called for immediate international intervention to stop the Zionist regime’s terrors and war machine.

On Sunday night, Israeli special forces infiltrated an area near the southern city of Khan Younis in a civilian vehicle. However, Hamas fighters engaged in a gun battle with them while Israeli warplanes provided air cover for the soldiers.

One Israeli soldier and seven Palestinians, including a Hamas commander, were killed. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cut short his trip to France and returned to Tel Aviv following the incident.

In his Monday statement, Qassemi condoled with the Afghan nation and government over the incident, and offered sympathy to the bereaved families of the victims.

By showing determination, remaining united and being hopeful about the future, Afghanistan can certainly eradicate terrorism and terrorist elements in the country, he said, adding that the realization of that goal plays an important role in creating regional and global security.

Therefore, he noted, all countries and the international community must cooperate with the Afghan government to achieve this goal.

He also stressed that the Iranian government and nation will always support the Afghan government and nation until the restoration of stability, security and peace.

At least six people, including police officers, were killed and at least 20 others were left injured after a suicide attack struck near a police checkpoint in Kabul on Monday.

Reports say the suicide bomber blew himself up near a school and only metres away from protesters who were rallying against the lack of security in the city. The ISIS has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack.

Iran Urges Formation of Independent Syrian Constitutional Committee

Speaking at the end of his one-day trip to Damascus, the Iranian diplomat noted that the Syrians themselves should form the committee.

IRIB News Agency quoted him as saying that the current diplomatic consultations are an attempt to facilitate the formation of the constitutional committee, but can never replace the main parties who are the Syrian people.

Referring to his meetings with President Bashar al-Assad and Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem, Jaberi Ansari highlighted that during the talks the latest developments and, in particular, the current problems surrounding the formation of the Syrian constitutional committee were discussed.

“We had very useful talks in Damascus, which were followed by consultations with our other partners, namely Turkey and Russia. We are going to continue discussions with UN representatives next week.”

He also expressed hope that, in light of these successful consultations, the way for the formation of the Syrian Constitutional Committee will be paved. He also raised hope that the move will lead to a serious Syrian-Syrian dialogue so that the nation can decide the future of the country.

Following Jaberi Ansari’s meetings with the Syrian President and foreign minister, Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad said the Islamic Republic of Iran offers honest plans to help the Syrian government and people to end the war and crisis in this country.

“The Islamic Republic provides ideas and constructive plans for restoring security in Syria,” added Mekdad.

He also hailed Iran’s support for Syria during the war, adding that Damascus and Tehran are standing strong against the enemies of this region, particularly the United States and its mercenaries.

Mekdad further pointed out that his country stands next to Iran as a friendly country in the face of cruel sanctions and US regional policies.

He also expressed hope that the Islamic Republic would stand firm against the imperialism of the US.

Iran Says Welcomes Barter Oil Trade amid Sanctions

“Causing any trouble for transportation and trade through international waterways is contrary to international law and basically, such measures would not be desirable or acceptable,” Rear Admiral Mahmoud Mousavi told reporters on Monday.

“The Armed Forces have the necessary capabilities to protect their interests in various areas,” he said, adding, “Experience shows that we have proceeded with our maritime trade over the past 40 years despite threats.”

The commander further emphasized that the forces are prepared to protect the Iranian commercial fleet and oil tankers, as in the past.

The remarks came as tensions between Iran and the US have escalated since US President Donald Trump walked away from the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers in May and re-imposed sanctions on the Islamic Republic.

US officials have repeatedly claimed that they aim to cut Iran’s oil exports to zero.

Following the US exit from the nuclear deal, Iran and the remaining parties launched talks to save the accord.

Trump on August 6 signed an executive order re-imposing many sanctions on Iran, three months after pulling out of the Iran nuclear deal.

He said the US policy is to levy “maximum economic pressure” on the country.

The second batch of US sanctions against the Islamic Republic took effect on November 4.

40th World Tourism Organisation Summit Opens in Iran

The summit was attended by a host of high-ranking guests including UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili and Iran’s Vice President and head of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organisation Ali-Asghar Mounesan.

80 members of the UNWTO from 30 countries took part in the opening ceremony of the 40th UNWTO Affiliate Members Plenary Session: International Seminar on Harnessing Cultural Tourism through Innovation and Technology.

Pololikashvili was the keynote speaker of the Summit.

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), based in Madrid, Spain, is a United Nations agency in the tourism sector that deals with tourism affairs. Today, it is the world’s leading and most recognised international travel and tourism body.

Currently, the World Tourism Organisation has 557 affiliate members, including 16 from Iran. Hamadan Municipality, Alisadr Tourism Company and Ganjnameh Tourism Complex (all from Hamadan province) are among the members of the UNWTO.

Hamadan with about 1,800 tourist attractions is considered one of the five most attractive cities of the country.

Avicenna Tomb, Baba Tahir Tomb, Ecbatana Historic Hill, Alavian Dome, Ganjnameh Inscriptions, and Alisadr Cave are among the most important historical and tourist attractions of Hamadan.

Qorban Historical Tower, Haj Agha Torab bath in Nahavand, Lotfalian Museum in Malayer, Masoudi House and Mausoleum of Mir Razi ad-Din Artimani in Tuyserkan are other attractions in the province that are visited by tourists every year.

As a member of the board of directors of this meeting, Alisadr Traveling Company played a significant role in hosting the UNWTO Summit in Hamadan.

Hamadan, as the capital of Iranian history and civilization, has been selected by the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) as the capital of Asia’s tourism in 2018.

Earlier, Hamadan hosted the Asia Cooperation Dialogue Conference from August 27 to 29.

Iranian Diplomat, Syria President Discuss Latest Developments

At the meeting, the two sides talked about the latest developments in Syria, including the formation of the country’s constitutional committee.

Jaberi Ansari and President Assad discussed the efforts made in the fight against terrorism, as well as the progress made in the process of settling the crisis through political means.

They highlighted that the US government and supporters of terrorism are struggling in both directions to make up for the defeats they had suffered on the political scene during the years of the Syrian war.

Iran is engaged in high-level political talks with Russia and Turkey in order to settle the crisis in Syria through the so-called Astana Process.

Jaberi Ansari, who is Iran’s top negotiator in the peace talks, attended an October tripartite meeting with representatives of Russia and Turkey in Moscow, and discussed ways to end the devastating war in the Arab country.

During those talks, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called the Astana Talks the most appropriate framework for the full resolution of the Syrian crisis announcing that a new meeting between the presidents of the three countries will be held soon.

Kermanshah; One Year after Devastating Earthquake

It is often described as a deep wound sustained by all Iranians at 21:48 on November 12, 2017. The massive geographical scope of the quake along with its bad time and the cultural features of the region have distinguished Kermanshah quake from similar strong quakes ones across Iran. Now, one year on, how is the situation of the quake-hit areas?

The quake which razed to the ground thousands of homes in Kermanshah has not yet left the province even after one year.

In an address to the weekly cabinet session held ahead of the one-year anniversary of the devastating quake, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani pointed to the reconstruction projects in the quake-hit areas and said, “Based on the latest reports, almost all villagers in the quake-hit areas returned to their homes by October and the reconstruction projects have been completed.”

“Immediately after the quake, rescue operations were carried out well and during my visit to the quake-hit areas one day after the plight, I was told by the villagers that they were satisfied with the operations,” he said.

The president then praised the efforts made to cope with the aftermath, describing them as big and grand.

“All the wounded were immediately taken to hospitals in the cities of Kermanshah as well as neighbouring provinces. By the time I arrived in Kermanshah hospital, at least 300 surgeries had been carried out which is a big deal by itself,” Rouhani said.

“One physician fainted after 48 hours due to the heavy work pressure he suffered when trying to serve the wounded.”

“The next phase of accommodation coincided with the beginning of the cold seasons. This phase was passed behind very well with the support provided by Iranians from all walks of life,” he noted.

President Rouhani said about 5,000 conex boxes were provided by people and the government financed the provision of about 14,000 more.

“When I paid a visit to the quake-hit areas for the second time during Persian New Year holidays, I witnessed in person how helpful the conex boxes were,” he said.

About 100,000 homes were partially or completely damaged during the quake which is by itself a big number. Over 70,000 homes have already been reconstructed. There are many people who were tenants when the quake hit their houses. Now they are still living in the conex boxes and the government needs to handle their problems properly by adopting appropriate measures like renting a house for them or providing them with a chance to own a piece of land to build their own house.

Kermanshah Governor General Houshang Bazvand puts the number of houses destroyed after the quake at 104,000 units.

“So far 16,500 units have been rebuilt and 53,500 units have been reconstructed. We are planning to deliver all the houses to their owners by the end of this Persian year,” he said.

Saudi-led Coalition Intensifies Attacks to Impede Yemen Talks: Iran

Bahram Qassemi

Qassemi expressed regret over the repeated postponement of Yemeni-Yemeni talks and said unfortunately the recent history shows that Saudi Arabia and the UAE intensify their aggression in Yemen to stop the beginning of the talks whenever they come to understand that attempts to start the negotiations are getting closer to bearing fruit.

In a Monday statement, he expressed the Islamic Republic’s deep concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Yemen, saying that the world today must shoulder the historical responsibility of ending the catastrophe in the war-torn country.

Qassemi made the comments in reaction to the latest developments in Yemen and the worsening situation in the country particularly after the relentless bombardment of residential areas and medical centres in the port city of Hudaydah by Saudi and Emirati warplanes.

He referred to the volatile situation created by the Saudi-led airstrikes on the residents of Hudaydah, and said the Islamic Republic is deeply worried about the dire humanitarian situation in the country.

“Iran blames the aggressors’ indifference to the warnings and concerns expressed by the international community for the current inhumane situation in Yemen,” he said, adding that over the past four years, the aggressors have relentlessly targeted the innocent and defenceless people of Yemen by their warplanes.

The spokesman then praised the “timely” remarks made by Michelle Bachelet, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, on the current situation in Yemen.

The concerns and outrage expressed by Bachelet about the dire situation and the high death toll in Yemen and her call for an end to the sufferings of civilians in the war-torn country are timely and consistent with the bitter reality on the ground, he noted.

The spokesman urged the international community to take the concerns and outrage seriously.

According to Qassemi, the Islamic Republic has always called for an end to the violence in Yemen.

“Amid the current situation, in addition to their political and legal obligations, all states and the international community, organizations and bodies also have an ethical responsibility to show their strong will to put an end to aggressors’ violence in Yemen and adopt appropriate measures to this end,” he said.

The spokesmen finally underlined the need to adopt immediate measures to end the humanitarian crisis in Yemen and said the Islamic Republic of Iran has set forth its proposal to end the crisis based on a totally humanitarian approach since years ago.

According to the spokesman, Iran still insists on its plan and expresses its preparedness to establish cooperation with the international community to improve the humanitarian situation in Yemen.

“We seriously believe that attempts to put an end to the humanitarian crisis in Yemen amount to a historical responsibility for today’s world and the ground should be prepared soon for stopping violence against Yemenis and dispatching aid to the war-torn country,” he concluded.

Earlier, the UN Secretary General said the destruction of the Yemeni flashpoint city of Hudaydah could lead to a catastrophe.

Antonio Guterres’s comments came as the ongoing battle between Ansarullah forces and Saudi-backed troops has so far killed dozens in Hudaydah. According to medics, some one hundred and ten Ansarullah fighters as well as 32 Saudi-backed forces were killed in clashes over the past 24 hours only.

The international meeting attended by delegates from 27 countries began earlier Monday and will last until November 16.

Pololikashvili referred to the presence of the foreign delegations in the event and said the organization should take advantage of the chance and prepare the ground for establishing commercial and tourist ties between the participating countries.

He also expressed satisfaction with holding the event in the Iranian city of Hamedan instead of Tehran or Isfahan and said “we are determined to promote Hamadan as a new tourist destination to the world.”

During his visits to the historical complexes in Tehran, Pololikashvili was accompanied by the Head of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization Ali Asghar Mounesan.

After a meeting with the UNWTO chief, Mounesan said Iran is among the top ten countries in terms of tourism capacities and has called on the secretary general of World Tourism Organization to offer support to Iran to further promote the country in the world as a tourist destination.

Iranian Crude Oil Sold Out in Energy Bourse

During the first phase of the oil sales on October 28, one million barrels of crude oil had been supplied and exchanged in eight shipments of 35,000 barrels at a rate of $74.85.

During Sunday sales, all the supplied 700,000 barrels were bought by Iranian and foreign firms.

The oil barrels were offered in three 210,000, 245,000 and 245,000 shipments. Meanwhile, the oil shipments are expected to be delivered to the purchasers in Kharg oil terminal in the Persian Gulf.

Managing Director of Iran Energy Exchange (IRENEX) said during the first phase, the National Iranian Oil Company wanted to get the feedbacks first and make its decision about the supplied barrels after assessing the feedbacks.

Seyyed Ali Hosseini underlined that the related organizations have full control over the process of transactions.

According to the official, there is no restriction in terms of crude oil purchasing for any domestic and foreign firms and their demands are registered without any limitation.

Iran started supplying its crude oil to the private sector last month through the energy bourse, a local market which provides Iranian and foreign tradesmen with a chance to purchase Iran’s crude oil and export it to the international markets.

Many believe that the new development is one of the byproducts of the US sanctions which are aimed at reducing Iran’s oil exports to zero.

It’s for the first time over the past seven years that Iran is selling its crude oil through Iran Energy Exchange.

The idea to supply crude oil in such an exchange market was first raised several years ago but it never came true until some months ago with the full support of the government.

The oil is supplied with 20 percent in rial and the remaining 80 percent in foreign currencies.

The rial payment should be made in cash before the shipment’s delivery and the rest must be made through warranties issued by reliable banks after the delivery.

The purchasers settle the forex transactions within a certain period of time set by the National Iranian Oil Company.
