Iran Parliament Allows Gov’t to Get $5 Billion Loan from Russia

The lawmakers gave the greenlight while discussing the budget bill for the next Iranian calendar year (starting March 21).

Russia had agreed to provide a $5 billion loan to Iran for joint infrastructure projects in October 2015, when Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak travelled to Tehran.

Out of the $5 billion, the Iranian side has so far received $2 billion and now can get the remaining $3 billion.

The removal of the nuclear sanctions in 2016 triggered a race among international companies to tap into Iran’s lucrative market.

However, the withdrawal of the US from the nuclear accord last year has scared away international firms.

Russia, a party to the nuclear accord, has frequently voiced its opposition to the US withdrawal from the pact.

IRGC Arrests 3 Terrorists Linked with Attack on Border Guards

The Public Relations Department of IRGC said in a statement that the operation was carried out following the order of IRGC Chief-Commander Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari to follow up the evidence and clues to find the agents behind the terrorist crime.

“With the enormous efforts of the IRGC forces and pursuing the clues provided by the intelligence and operational forces of Qods headquarter, some of the elements behind the recent crime who were hiding out in several houses in Saravan and Khash [in Sistan and Baluchestan], were identified and arrested,” reads the statement.

The statement added that in this successful operation, three terrorists were nabbed and 150 kilogrammes of explosives as well as a large number of weapons and ammunitions were discovered.

Referring to the fact that the arrested terrorists have guided and supported the suicide bomber who committed the recent terrorist crime on the Khash-Zahedan road, the IRGC statement added that efforts to track down clues for a definite and complete retaliation are underway and are expected to be implemented quickly with the cooperation of the Pakistani government and army.

Chief of Staff of Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri also announced Monday Pakistan has already started its operations against terrorists, after Iran warned them it would launch operations inside the Pakistani territory if Islamabad fails to punish the terrorists.

A terrorist attack in Sistan and Baluchestan province last Wednesday claimed the lives of 27 people and injured some others.

The suicide attacker targeted a bus carrying the IRGC personnel. The so-called Jaish ul-Adl terror group, which is based across the border in Pakistan shouldered the responsibility.

Iran Leader Urges Officials to Beware of Europe’s Deceit

In a Monday address to a large group of people from Azarbaijan, Ayatollah Khamenei said, “Officials should know the friend and the foe, and not be deceived.”

“Enemies sometimes show their teeth, sometimes their fist, and sometimes their smile; they are not different, and even their smile is out of enmity,” he noted.

Their unclean souls are full of grudge against and hostility towards Islam and the Islamic Republic, he added.

“The US’ enmity is clear; Europeans are also trying to deceive [us] today. I don’t say [to officials] what to do, but officials should beware of being deceived,” the Leader added.

The Leader also warned Iranian officials not to put the country in trouble by getting deceived.

The European signatories to the 2015 nuclear agreement, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), issued a joint statement on Jan. 31, announcing the launch of a direct non-dollar payment mechanism.

The mechanism is meant to safeguard trade ties with Tehran following Washington’s withdrawal from the nuclear deal and its imposition of the “toughest ever” sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

Iran has welcomed the mechanism, called INSTEX, as “a long overdue first step,” but censured Europe for setting “humiliating” conditions for its enforcement.

‘Enemies Cannot Do Harm with Such Huge Turnout’

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the massive participation of Iranian people in rallies marking the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, saying the adversaries can never inflict harm on such a great nation.

Ayatollah Khamenei further noted that the enemies would negate that millions of people participated, but they know as long as a nation holds its ground like this, enemies cannot inflict any harm.

Millions of Iranians rallied last week to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution. This was much to the dismay of US officials including National Security Advisor John Bolton who had earlier said Iran will not see it’s fortieth anniversary.

Terror Attack Should Make People Aware

Talking about the recent deadly terrorist attack by a Pakistan-based terror group in southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province, Ayatollah Khamenei mentioned that “such incidents must make us aware of the price we have paid for our security.”

Earlier, the Leader had said in a message that those behind the terrorist attack in the southeast of the country definitely have ties to spy agencies of certain countries.

At least 27 IRGC personnel were killed and 13 others injured in Wednesday’s terror attack in Sistan and Baluchestan province. The Jaish al-Adl terror group that has links to al-Qaeda and Saudi Arabia claimed responsibility. Several entities and officials, including the Iranian president and foreign minister condemned the terrorist attack.

Chamomile is warm and dry according to the traditional Iranian medicine, and has been used since ancient times for medicinal and edible purposes.

Persian Gulf Star Refinery Makes Iran Self-Sufficient in Petrol Production

Persian Gulf Star Refinery Makes Iran Self-Sufficient in Petrol Production

The refinery supplies petroleum products like gasoline, gas oil, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), hydrogen, sulfur and jet fuel.

The project has been developed with a capacity of producing 12 ml/d of gasoline which can be promoted to 15ml/d, a report by dolat.ir said.

The construction process of the plant created 3,500 jobs and the plant itself can create 600 permanent jobs.

Meanwhile, its feedstock capacity stands at 120,000 b/d. Now that the plant has come on stream, the Persian Gulf Star Refinery is capable of producing 45ml/d Euro-4 gasoline, 12.5ml/d gas oil, 3ml/d condensate gas and 2ml/d jet fuel.

The project is also aimed at promoting the quality of the gasoline and gas oil produced in Iran to further protect the environment.

Before opening the third phase, President Rouhani had inaugurated a separate project designed to promote the quality of Bandar Abbas Refinery’s gasoline and oil gas.

The projects are launched on the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

The Persian Gulf Star Refinery was constructed in 2006 near the southern port city of Bandar Abbas. The feedstock to run the facility is supplied by the condensate produced at South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf.

Officials say the fourth phase of the mega project is set to be built in the future.

Iran Says Has Given No Commitments Regarding Yemen

Bahram Qassemi

Bahram Qassemi made the comment in response to a question about recent remarks by UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt, who said he had held talks with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif, and that Iran had given commitments with regards to Yemen.

“The Yemen crisis and the three-year aggression on this country and the killing of its innocent people and the emergence of a human disaster in this country have always been on the agenda of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s diplomatic talks with other countries,” said Qassemi.

“Accordingly, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mr Zarif has had numerous meetings and diplomatic contacts with his foreign counterparts in order to work out a solution or solutions to ease the crisis in Yemen and prepare the ground for a halt to the aggression and the establishment of a permanent ceasefire and adopting the necessary measures to dispatch relief and send humanitarian aid to famine-stricken Yemeni people and set the stage for political climate and political negotiations.”

“So, this issue has always been on the agenda,” said Qassemi.

“In this connection, several rounds of talks have been held over the past year between Iran and a number of European countries (France, Germany, Britain and Italy) which were interested in the issue of Yemen,” he said.

“Finally, with the help of the Islamic Republic of Iran and by following up on the issue, the arrangements were made for the Stockholm meeting and holding talks between Yemeni groups under the supervision of the UN,” said the spokesman.

He said Iran, as a Muslim country which was sensitive about the fate of Yemeni people, has had this concern from the outset.

“We always suggested that this war cannot have a military winner at the end of the day, and that a ceasefire should be established before the ground is prepared to offer humanitarian aid and finally contribute to intra-Yemeni talks,” Qassemi underlined.

“Naturally, and as Mr Jeremy Hunt said, some negotiations were held about Yemen during his recent trip to Tehran, and what the UK foreign secretary says about his meeting with Mr Zarif about Yemen refers to his negotiations during this very trip,” Qassemi said.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed that Iran has offered no commitments, whatsoever, to any party or any country concerning Yemen.

“Yemen is an independent country and it is up to Yemenis to make decisions about it,” he said.

“Iran has no involvement in Yemen’s domestic affairs, and the commitments that Mr Hunt talked about are the same commitments offered by Yemeni groups during the Stockholm meeting in order to establish a ceasefire, etc.” he noted.

Qassemi reiterated that Iran will spare no effort to help settle the Yemen crisis peacefully and prevent the continuation of the humanitarian disaster in the country.

“It is time for the international community to feel responsible and try to work out a solution to this disaster, which is a dark point among its contemporary issues, and save Yemeni people from this very difficult and disastrous situation,” said Qassemi.

“Some European countries, too, should seriously stop sending and selling and offering destructive arms to the countries which have launched the aggression [against Yemen].”

“Moreover, it is necessary that the international community, too, make the aggressors halt their barbaric aggression against the Yemeni nation,” he said.

Iran Says Assured Saudis, Emiratis Sponsored Zahedan Attack

Iran Says Assured Saudis, Emiratis Sponsored Zahedan Attack

Mohammad Ebrahim Rezaee made the statement in an interview with Tasnim News Agency on Sunday, after a special meeting of a parliamentary panel on the attack.

“According to reports presented, the terrorist attack has been carried out with intelligence support of Saudi Arabia and the UAE and explosives used in the incident has entered the country from Pakistan,” he said.

Rezaee, a member of the parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, said Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and officials from the Intelligence Ministry, Interior Ministry, the IRGC and the governor of Sistan and Baluchestan attended the meeting.

Rezaee said Iran’s Foreign Ministry has asked the Pakistani officials to punish the elements who enter Pakistan under the support of Saudi Arabia and the UAE and then enter Iran.

The attack happened after a suicide attacker hit an explosives-laden vehicle into a military bus carrying IRGC personnel in Khash-Zahedan road.

At least 27 border guards were martyred in one of the deadliest attacks against IRGC personnel in years.

The Jaish al-Adl group, an offshoot of Jundallah that has carried dozens of terror operations inside Iran in recent years, claimed responsibility for the attack.

Warsaw, Munich Summits Result in Further Isolation for US: Iran

In an interview with the Lebanese TV channel, Al-Manar, Zarif underlined that the US failed to achieve its anti-Iran goals during the two international conferences.

“Nearly all states are seeking to avoid the US’ stance towards Iran so that they are not forced to violate the international law,” he was quoted as saying in a report by IRNA.

Zarif made the comments on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference in Germany, where European states rejected an earlier call by US Vice-President Mike Pence for the E3’s withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal. The call had been made earlier in the anti-Iran Warsaw Conference, which experts believe was a total failure for its organizer, the US.

The 55th edition of Munich Security Conference also kicked off on Friday with over 600 delegates from various political, commercial and civil backgrounds in attendance. The three-day conference discussed the current crises as well as future challenges facing the world.

The Munich Security Conference is an annual event on international security policy that has taken place in Munich, Bavaria since 1963.  Over the past four decades the conference has become the most important independent forum for the exchange of views by international security policy decision-makers.

Pakistan Says Ready for Joint Fight with Iran against Terror

During the phone conversation, Qureshi said a specialized Pakistani delegation will be sent to Iran later in the day to hold talks with Iranian officials.

“Pakistan is ready for any cooperation [with Iran] to probe into the regrettable incident, and for joint fight against terrorist groups,” the Pakistani FM said.

Qureshi made the phone call after top Iranian officials, including the president, the IRGC chief, and foreign ministry officials strongly protested Islamabad’s failure to counter the terrorists operating inside its territory.

IRGC Chief-Commander Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari and President Hassan Rouhani both suggested that Iran may launch operations inside the Pakistani territory if Islamabad fails to identify and punish the Jaish al-Adl terrorists who killed 27 and wounded 13 Iranian border guards in their Wednesday attack.

Earlier in the day, Iran summoned the Pakistani ambassador to express its strong protest over the terror attack on a bus carrying IRGC border guards in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan province.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said the Islamic Republic conveyed its strong protest to the Pakistani diplomat during the meeting.
