‘Bakers Battalion’ Making Bread for Flood-Hit Iranians

During the eight-year Iraqi war against Iran, the people of Khanuk sent their children to the war fronts and provided similar support for the soldiers. These women, who baked breads each week for the fighters, became known as the “Bakers’ Battalion”.

Now that most provinces of Iran are hit by deadly flash floods, with the help of the municipality and the City Council the battalion has delivered three thousand loaves of bread to the flood-hit people.

The women of this city had also provided valuable services during the eight-year war against Iraq and offered services to pilgrims of third Shiite Imam Hussein ibn Ali (AS), a report by Fars News Agency said.

Last year, during the march of Arba’een, which marks the anniversary of the fortieth day after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, they made breads for pilgrims in the holy city of Karbala.

Iran Says Its Oil Exports Will Never Plummet to Less than 1m Barrels

Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh, the Chairperson of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, made the comment in a post on his Twitter account.

“The level of Iran’s oil exports is set by mutual ties between Iran and its customers, not by the political bluffs by Trump and Pompeo,” he was quoted as saying in a report by Fars news agency.

The tweet was posted one day after US President Donald Trump decided not to renew waivers that allowed eight countries to buy Iranian oil without facing Washington’s sanctions.

In a statement on Monday, the White House said that Trump would not renew Significant Reduction Exceptions (SREs) when they expire in early May, a move aimed at bringing Iran’s oil exports to zero.

Immediately after the announcement, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo held a news conference and detailed the decision on the Iranian oil exports.

“The Trump Administration has taken Iran’s oil exports to historic lows, and we are dramatically accelerating our pressure campaign in a calibrated way that meets our national security objectives while maintaining well supplied global oil markets,” he said.

The decision has sparked the global oil market’s reactions shown through a sharp rise in prices with international benchmark Brent rising 2.6 percent to $73.78 a barrel after having earlier touched $74.31, highest since early November. US crude futures also gained 2.4 percent, or $1.52 a barrel, to $65.39. It had earlier touched a high of $65.87, a level not seen since late October.

‘EU’s €1.5m Cash Aid Insult to Flood-Hit Iranians’

Flood-stricken people in Pol-e Dokhtar city, Lorestan province

Parviz Fattah says Iran’s foreign ministry should have rejected the little sum of money, which they have not even paid yet.

Fattah noted that the EU’s €1.5 million aid to Iran comes in a situation that they gave €40 million to the ‘dancer’ Angelina Jolie.

“Of course, I believe that the European Union has insulted the Iranian nation by offering one and a half million euros of aid,” underlined Fattah.

He also lashed out at the United States for not allowing foreign countries to send their cash aid to the Iranian Red Crescent Society.

“The people of Iran donated about 9 million dollars to the IKRF to help the flood victims which is a very huge sum” when it comes to public donations, he went on to say.

“After the flood, the Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation assisted 30,000 households, and it should build 10,000 houses and reconstruct 20,000 more. The foundation should also provide them with home appliances as well,” stressed Fattah.

The Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation is an Iranian charitable organization, founded in March 1979 to provide support for poor families with the aim of helping such families regain their financial stability.

Iran to Punish Sides Supporting US’ Blacklisting of IRGC

23 Iranian Lawmakers Test Positive for Coronavirus

In a Tuesday session, Iran’s parliament passed into law a double-urgency motion to take countermeasures against the countries, firms and individuals that support the US’ unprecedented blacklisting of the IRGC as a foreign terrorist organization.

Based on the seventh article of the new law, all individuals and firms who, in any way, follow the US move against the IRGC, would be regarded as guilty by the Islamic Republic and would face various punishments based on Iran’s Islamic panel code.

The reciprocal measure was passed during the parliament’s open session, with 160 votes in favour, only five against, and two abstentions, a report by IRNA said.

Iranian parliamentarians say they act in unison in response to issues of national importance, calling the US move a big mistake.

They also urged Iran’s Foreign Ministry and related bodies to use all legal, political and defensive diplomacy capacities to put an end to the US presence in the region.

The lawmakers also officially designated the US Central Command as a terrorist organization.

Ideas for Students to Recharge and Unwind in Spring

Overall, most of the students will be enjoying this time and will be trying to get the most out of the relaxation sessions to unwind and recharge to get ready for the next term.

Let’s go through some of the great ideas that will help you make this spring season an unforgettable one.

Go for some adventure

If you love going out to experience the thrill of exploring the tough nature and landscapes, this is the time for you. You can go hiking, scuba diving, kayaking, wild safari, trip on a hot air balloon, mountain climbing, and enjoy many other adventurous activities. These experiences will work like magic and detach you from all those stressful things you have gone through during the study term.

Enjoy nature

Those who love a peaceful and serene environment can go to the place with natural greeneries, river or pond and village-like surroundings. Sit with a calm mind and listen to the music of nature. Pay attention to singing birds and the sound of river water. Enjoy the colors of nature. Have the child-like curiosity to know more about everything living and non-living during your stay.

You can also plan a picnic with friends or family and have a delightful meal under the trees. Furthermore, games, fun and creative activities will make your time even more enjoyable.

Sound perfect, is not it? Moreover, you will get a new material for writing an essay, so no “check for plagiarism” will be required.

Parents can help their child relieve from stress and anxiety by having them attend yoga and meditation classes during the vacation. Those who face difficulty handling the pressure of study and experience depression should consider the workshops where they can practice mindfulness and meditation. There are many classes where different methods are applied to help students rejuvenate their health and gain mental strength.

Iran to Sue US over Prevention of Aid Flow to Flood Victims

Laya Joneydi said Iran is to file a lawsuit against the US at the International Court of Justice regarding the case.

The decision came after the head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society confirmed it has not been able to receive any cash aid to help flood victims.

Joneydi stressed this reflects a major US misconduct, especially in the area of human rights and humanitarian law.

“Under the interim order of the International Court of Justice Washington cannot hamper issues related to food, medicine, medical equipment, agricultural items, aircraft parts and services, and all related banking operations,” she told IRIB News Agency.

Joneydi added that in addition to violating international law, the US action has also clearly violated the interim order of the International Court of Justice, and for each of them, necessary measures have been taken.

Aid workers in Iran say US sanctions are hampering their ability to help people affected by massive flooding.

Relentless rain and flooding throughout Iran has left some 2 million people facing a humanitarian crisis. 25 of 31 Iranian provinces have been affected, and over 76 people have lost their lives.

32nd Tehran International Book Fair Kicks Off

During the ceremony, Mohsen Javadi, head of the 32nd Tehran International Book Fair and Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, said the motto of this edition is “Reading Is Ability”.

“With this motto, we welcome not only the great cultural event of our country, but also one of the largest cultural events in the world,” Javadi went on to say.

In addition to 2,400 domestic publishers, 800 international publishers offer their valuable works at this edition to book enthusiasts.

32nd Tehran International Book Fair Kicks OffLast year 1,400 titles were published and put on show at the exhibition, he noted, adding that cultural events and discussion sessions about the books are being held at the venue of the fair.

“The history of Iran is known via the great books of scientists and wise men. We are glad we can develop friendship among nations and governments by books,” he maintained.

China is the special guest of the exhibition this year. China’s news conference was held Monday (April 22) with the presence of Iranian and Chinese officials.

Monir Farmanfarmaian, Prominent Master of Folk Art, Dies

The Iranian painter and pioneer of modern Iranian art passed away on April 20. She has been noted as one of the most prominent Iranian artists of the contemporary time.

She was the first artist to achieve an artistic practice that weds the geometric patterns and cut-glass mosaic techniques of her Iranian heritage with the rhythms of modern Western geometric abstraction.

Monir Farmanfarmaian, Prominent Master of Folk Art, DiesSeyyed Mojtaba Hosseini, Deputy Director of Art Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, has expressed condolences over the death of Farmanfarmaian, saying that “presenting traditional and indigenous arts with a modern expression has taken the works of Farmanfarmaian to the world museums and collections as they provide a chance for introducing the features of Iranian culture and art.”

” Farmanfarmaian was a philanthropic artist with social concerns, and this concern has been manifested in her life for many times. Last year, she donated one of her works to help children with cancer. She also dedicated 50 works to the University of Tehran, which has been exhibited at a gallery named after her in Nangarestan Garden. I offer my condolences over the death of this artist to the art community and art lovers. May her soul rest in peace.”

She learned the art of carpet designing and combined it with the knowledge of the Parisian avant-garde art centre so that her art is welcomed by the art lovers. I convey my condolences over the death of this lady of Iranian art. My condolences are also offered to her the family, the family of visual artists and the great Iranian nation. She was one of the most important contemporary artists of our time, who had a long and very influential life. She was the initiator of a style and language that was unique and lively. She has created a lot of valuable works, highlighted Beheshti.

Beheshti also underscored that Farmanfarmaian may be more known on a global scale, because her works were often exhibited internationally. However, in recent years, her works were put on show for Iranians as well.
