Iran to Launch Special Police Force to Fight Animal Abuse

Chief of Iran’s Cyberspace Police Brigadier General Vahid Majid said the police are seriously investigating and dealing with animal abuse cases.

“Animal-related videos in cyberspace are immediately monitored by the police and are subject to multiple penalties in accordance with the penalties provided by law for illegal hunting and animal abuse,” he added.

He also emphasised that the country’s Department of Environment is currently monitoring the cyberspace, but the police are planning to make it more specialised by sending expert officers there to activate the animal abuse branch.

Iran to Launch Special Police Force to Fight Animal AbuseIn addition, the Department of Environment itself has a judicial officer and in cases of animal abuse or illegal hunting it acts on the basis of judicial principles, reiterated Brigadier General Majid.

The cyberspace police chief pointed out that they are seriously pursuing animal abuse cases, and if there are any cases in the cyberspace, immediate action will be taken.

“People can report cases to the police website or call 81818 as soon as they see illegal hunting and selling of animals and birds, but the Department of Environment itself is also tasked with taking care of such issues,” he underlined.

Oscars 2020: ‘Last Fiction’ First Iranian Film to Run for Best Animated Feature

In a major development for Iran’s animation industry, the animated feature directed by Ashkan Rahgozar will be the first Iranian animation competing in the Oscars.

The story of this animation is an open interpretation of Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh (Book of Kings) and story of Zahhak; the Legend of the Serpent King. In the Shahnameh, Zahhak is an evil king who conquers Iran and who has serpents growing out of his shoulders.

The process of production and pre-production of this animation has taken nearly 10 years.

Sky Entertainment, along with Hoorakhsh Studios are releasing the feature that is about Iran’s millennium-old national epic.

The film follows Zahhak’s treacherous rise to the throne in Jamkard in Persia. The young and naïve hero Afaridoun will have to save the kingdom and its people from darkness. But he must first conquer his own demons in this portrayal of Persian mythology which reveals human nature. It also tells the story of Kaveh, a blacksmith who leads a revolt to destroy the devil that has appeared in prince’s soul.

Akbar Zanjanpour, Hamed Behdad, Leila Hatami, Parviz Parastooi, Ashkan Khatibi, Baran Kosari, Hassan Pour-Shirazi, Shaqayeq Farahani, Melika Sharifinia, Banipal Shomoun, Roozbeh Farrokh Nemati, Bita Farahi, Majid Mozaffari, and Zahir Yari are among the voice actors of the project.

The animation’s soundtrack has been composed by Christopher Rezai.

“The Last Fiction” has already received numerous awards at international festivals.

Iran had earlier submitted the live-action documentary “Finding Farideh” as its official entry for the international feature film category.

Iran to Showcase Marine Industries Achievements at Dutch Exhibit

The National Pavilion of Iran will be open to public at the shipping, ship-building and maritime exhibition EUROPORT 2019 from November 5-8, 2019.

The presence of Iranian knowledge-based companies at the exhibit is aimed at developing international cooperation to present Iranian marine industries achievements, making Iran’s marine industries up-to-date and setting the stage to attract foreign investment.

The draws some 30,000 visitors as well as 100 companies from around the world each year. It is the world’s top marine exhibition in terms of the quality of organization as well as the number of visitors.

The Science and Technology Department of the Iranian President’s Office and the Innovation and Development Fund back the presence of Iranian knowledge-based companies at the event.

Three Energy Megaprojects Come on Stream in Iran

Reza Ardakanian says management of water in the past two water years was a good experience and the Islamic Republic was able to set three records in the field of electricity production, consumption and export.

Gas imports from Iran generate as much as 45 percent of Iraq’s 14,000 megawatts of electricity consumed daily. Iran transmits another 1,000 megawatts directly, making itself an indispensable energy source for its Arab neighbor.

The administration of Donald Trump is pressing Iraq to stop buying natural gas and electricity from Iran or at least show signs that it is reducing the imports. The US has also urged Iraq to establish contracts with US companies.

However, there are reports that Baghdad is pushing back against the pressure, The New York Times reported in February.

A few days ago, the US once again exempted Iraq from its sanctions against the Islamic Republic, allowing the Arab country to continue gas and electricity imports from Iran for another four-month period.

“The waiver ensures that Iraq is able to meet its short-term energy needs while it takes steps to reduce its dependence on Iranian energy imports,” a State Department spokesman said Wednesday.

“We engage regularly with the Iraqi government to support measures that improve Iraq’s energy independence,” he added.

This will be the fifth such waiver the US has issued for Iraq since US sanctions on Iran’s energy exports snapped back nearly a year ago. After an initial 45-day waiver, the State Department issued two 90-day waivers in a row followed by a 120-day waiver in June.

Trump re-imposed unilateral sanctions on Iran’s energy and finance sectors in November last year following his decision to withdraw from a landmark 2015 nuclear deal signed between Tehran and six major world powers.

Iran to Hold ‘Sari 2022’ Event to Attract More Tourists

“Badab Soort” is a natural site comprised of a range of stepped travertine terrace formations that have been created over thousands of years as flowing water from two mineral hot springs cooled and deposited carbonate minerals on the mountainside. This spring was registered by the Cultural Heritage Organization in 1998 after Mount Damavand as the second natural heritage of Iran. It is the second largest sour spring water source in the world after Turkey's Pamukkale.

The event is to be held in Sari, the capital of Mazandaran province, which has been selected as the tourism capital of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) in 2022.

Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts says “Sari 2022” is an opportunity to attract more tourists and introduce new capacities in the province.

“The presence of the ECO Secretariat in Iran and the cultural, ethnic and tribal commonalities are important points for international relations in the region,” noted Vali Teymouri.

Citing the UN World Tourism Organization’s statistics, he said there are around 1.5 billion tourists worldwide. “Four out of every five tourists have travelled in their own region and this creates an ideal opportunity to attract tourists to Mazandaran province,” underlined Teymouri.

“Cultural differences create tourism, and by introducing cultural, historical, and handicraft products and capacities, one can diversify the focus of travel to Mazandaran,” the deputy tourism minister stated.

Iran’s hosting of the summit of Economic Cooperation Organisation’s Tourism Ministers in 2021 and the Caspian Sea Littoral States Conference will be a good opportunity for the ECO tourism capital, he added.

Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of the province Seifollah Farzaneh says Ramsar in Mazandaran will host ECO Ministers and Heads of Radio and Televisions on November 2 and 3. This event is an important opportunity to introduce Mazandaran and “Sari 2022”.

The Economic Cooperation Organisation or ECO is an Asian political and economic intergovernmental body that was founded in 1985 in Tehran by the leaders of Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey.

Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan are member-states of the ECO.

Mazandaran is an Iranian province which is located along the southern coast of the Caspian Sea and is famous for its splendid nature.

Newly-Developed Smart Mirrors Can Replace Secretaries

“We managed to design smart mirrors which can be used as secretaries at CEO offices,” says Alireza Moaref, one of the members of the team that have designed the smart mirrors.

He says the mirror can show daily schedules. “These programs are fed into the mirror in advance, and will be available to the person in question at the desired time.”

“The schedules appear on the mirror only when the mirror recognizes its owner. The information and schedules are displayed as soon as the person stands in front of the mirror,” he adds.

He said among the parameters displayed on the mirror are the time, date, weather forecast, etc.

The mirror can also be used in the lobbies of residential buildings to display the information of the building for the occupants. In addition to being a mirror, it can be used as a white board as well.

Moaref says the mirror can also display news. “No similar mirror has been produced abroad, so far, and the only mirrors built in the same style have been the ones used in changing rooms.”

The researcher says plans are underway to equip the mirror with an audio feature, so that it can read out the schedules, too.

The photo shows Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs going on foot to Iraq’s Karbala where the holy shrine of the third Shiite Imam, Hussein ibn Ali (AS), is located.

Araqchi in this photo has wrapped his head and face to avoid the sunlight or perhaps not to be recognised.

During the past week, many Iranian and Iraqi government officials have gone on a pilgrimage to the holy shrines of Shiite Imams in Najaf and Karbala in one of the safest marches of recent years.

While there has been numerous attempts in the past weeks to create chaos and division in Iraq, this year’s Arba’een march was held more magnificently than previous years.

The Arba’een pilgrimage is the world’s largest annual public gathering that is held every year in Karbala, at the end of the 40-day mourning period following Ashura on which Imam Hussein (AS) and 72 of his loyal companions were brutally killed by the tyrant of the time, Yazid I.

The number of participants in the annual pilgrimage reached 20 million or more by 2016. On the routes of the pilgrimage, food, accommodation and other services are provided for free by volunteers.

Major General Hossein Salami said on Sunday that the IRGC’s international and professional intelligence initiative and measure destroyed the hopes of the enemy’s mental warfare to launch street riots was neutralized.

In a statement, Salami noted that the network run by Zam was after causing division among elites and officials, and spreading lies and rumours.

Last week, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps said in a statement that its intelligence branch has arrested Rouhollah Zam in an operation outside the country.

After his arrest the head of the notorious anti-Iran website Amad-News appeared on national TV and expressed remorse for his wrongdoings. He said “I am sorry for the way I have behaved and misused mass media. I am sorry for trusting foreign governments. Trusting the French government in particular, was wrong. I never thought I would get caught.”
