North Khorasan; A Treasure Trove of Tourist Attractions

Nature of Northeastern Iran 5

North Khorasan is a treasure trove of natural and historical attractions, shining like a jewel between two major tourist hubs of the country: the northern provinces of Golestan and Mazandaran, and the holy city of Mashhad.

Known as the land of thousand springs, the province has abundant mineral water springs, another potential for tourism development.

Iranian Scientist Sirous Asgari Released from US, en Route to Iran: FM

Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote on his Instagram page that Asgari is now free.
The top Iranian diplomat said the Iranian scientist has been acquitted of the baseless charges levelled against him.

“We were making every effort to set the stage for his return home,” said Zarif.

“If he tests negative for coronavirus, he can return to Iran on the first flight,”

The foreign minister said Asgari will return to the country if he tests negative for coronavirus.
Asgari, a professor of material sciences at Sharif University of Technology, was arrested in the United States in the mid-2017. Back then, the FBI alleged the scientist had shared information about a project he had conducted on a sabbatical in the US five years before with his students.

US legal authorities then charged him with withholding information in the process of visa application, circumventing the sanctions, and transferring technology to Iran.
Asgari had repeatedly pleaded for his release since March, complaining about unsanitary detention conditions and overcrowding at the Louisiana facility, where he was kept.

Signs of US Decline Clearer Than Ever: Iran Official

Vice Admiral Ali Shamkhani made the comment in a tweet in reaction to widespread protests across the US following the police killing of a black man.

“The big lie of democracy and freedom was exposed after Trump took shelter in the basement of his Black House (an allusion to the White House) for the fear of American people,” added Shamkhani, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
He also downplayed Washington’s claims of being a superpower.

“The United States’ claim of being a superpower and threats to wage war and commit terror and impose sanctions proved hollow with the presence of Iranian oil tankers in the Caribbean Sea,” he added.

Five Iranian tankers delivered gasoline to the crisis-hit Venezuela despite the US sanctions and its naval presence in the Caribbean Sea.

How Is Performance of A Product Manager Really Measured

How Is Performance of A Product Manager Really Measured 3

With some amount of planning, experience, and training, becoming a product manager is easy. However, becoming a high-performing product manager that is an asset to the organization is something that is the necessity in the current age.

According to a McKinsey report, the demand and market for product managers are increasing, and the competition is slated to heat up. Thus, you would want to stand out from all the noise and get noticed by big enterprises.

Further, if you wish to earn well as a product manager, you need to display your skills and capabilities as an efficient product manager who is worth their salt. So how do you achieve that? How can you convince recruiters that you are the perfect candidate for the role?

You can start by understanding how the performance of a product manager is measured and using it to build your claim. So let’s take a look at what defines the success of a product manager:

Performance Metrics of a Product Manager

Here are some of the leading key performance indicators (KPIs) that define a product manager’s capabilities:

  1. Business Performance KPIs

Naturally, the first place to start would be to define the performance indicators that are a reflection of the product performance. These KPIs emphasize upon the customer experience, sales, revenue, profitability, and customer lifecycle. Investors use these KPIs to determine whether a project is worth their money or otherwise. How Is Performance of A Product Manager Really Measured

Thus, it is crucial for the product manager to work in accordance with these KPIs and deliver upon them. Following is the list of a few popular business performance KPIs:

  • Revenue: Business revenue is an account of the cash flow and balance sheet that defines the success of the product. It could be in the form of monthly subscriptions, or the dollars raked in against sales. Apart from monetary metrics, bookings are also a strong indicator of the performance of the product and product manager.
  • Number of Customers: A product manager must display competence in assessing the market condition and calculating an accurate total addressable market for the product. A reflection of these skills would be in the form of the customer lifecycle, customer lifetime value, retention, churn, and attrition.
  • Time to Revenue: As a product manager, you have to launch your product at the most opportune moment to ride on the wave of its success. Thus, there is a possibility of developing the product in a time crunch or as per a non-negotiable timeline. Thus, the time to market and time to revenue is an indicator of their velocity and managerial skills.
  • Market Position: After the product release, the feedback collected through customer reviews and third-party ratings and reports will reflect the product manager’s competence. It also highlights their ability to place their product at an agreeable position in the market.
  1. Product Usage KPIs

In addition to the product launch and customer reception, one needs to monitor the functionality of the product to assess the efforts put in by the product manager to make it user-friendly. Here are a few KPIs to measure the product usage trends:

  • Number of Users: The total number of customers using the product versus the total addressable market, as calculated by the Product Manager, is a snapshot of the expected performance and delivered results. While they will not necessarily match, any great diversion from the trajectory could indicate a deep underlying problem with the product.
  • New Users per Feature: The role of a product manager also includes their ability to collect customer feedback and make improvements to the product. As a result, if the release of a new feature manages to attract a wider audience, it is an indicator of the skills and abilities of the product manager.
  1. Product Development KPIs

Product development is the primary goal of any product manager. Thus, failure to achieve product development goals is a major issue that may render a candidate unfit. In order to prove the worth of a product manager in this area, the following KPIs come to play:

  • Time for Delivery: The product manager first creates a roadmap for product development and tracks the progress against it. These timelines also include room for testing and development. Thus, sticking to these estimates indicates their analytical skills and ability to manage risks.
  • Team Performance: A product manager will have to motivate their teams and keep them on track throughout the entire process of product development. Thus, the team’s spirits and performance could be a reflection of the product developer’s ability to maintain productivity, efficient resource allocation, and time-bound action.
  • Support Tickets: Support tickets and escalations may be a sign of an underlying issue with the product. Thus, it shows that merely releasing a product on time is not the only priority, but adherence to product quality is also imperative.
  1. Soft Skills KPIs

In addition to all the above KPIs, there are a few other qualitative characteristics to measure the performance of a product manager. These KPIs are:

  • Communication: Communication is the foundation of product development. Whether it is for pep-talk to team members or pitching to stakeholders – product managers will have to be the main evangelists for their products.
  • Sales and Marketing: Even though it is a highly specialized task, a product manager is required to participate in sales and marketing strategy formulation to help the product reach new levels.

Finally, A Product Manager is Not Their Product

One may think that assessing the success of the product is the primary way to size up a product manager. However, as we may have seen from above, there is a lot that comes to play.

The failure of a product could also be due to poor programmers or sub-par marketers! A product manager simply tries to make the best of available resources and capitalize on them. Thus, evaluating their skills only on the basis of sales or revenue would not be a fair assessment.

The above KPIs will grant companies a holistic approach while addressing their product requirements and measuring their product manager performance. It will also help them decide if a candidate should receive an average product manager salary.

Iran Urges US to Stop Violence, Let Americans Breathe

“To the American people; the world has got heard your outcry over the state oppression; the world is standing with you,” Mousavi said in English during his Monday press briefing.

“The American regime is pursuing violence and bullying at home and abroad. We are greatly regretful to see along with the people across the world the violent instances that the US police have recently unfolded,” he added.

“We deeply regret to see the American people who peacefully seek respect and no more violence are suppressed indiscriminately and met with utmost violence,” Mousavi noted.

“And to the American officials and police: stop violence against your people, and let them breathe,” he added.

Mousavi also noted that the nationwide protests in the US are the result of years-long suppression of Americans and their voices, adding, “It is natural that the American people have had enough and risen in protest.”

He also urged the American officials and police to avoid further deployment of violence against the country’s people and asked them to stop restricting their freedoms.

The spokesman’s comments came as angry protests are raging on across the United States following the recent choking to death of unarmed African American George Floyd by a white police officer in Minneapolis.

Police have responded with teargas canisters and rubber bullets to the protests that have so far engulfed at least 30 US cities. Minnesota, where the murder took place, has even activated the National Guard against the protesters in a rare move.

Iran Pledges Unfaltering Support for Afghan Stability, Security

Iran Hopes Intra-Afghan Talks will Lead to Lasting Peace: Rouhani

In a telephone conversation with President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani on Monday, President Rouhani emphasized that Iran’s policy is based upon the promotion of brotherly and friendly ties and cooperation with all neighbors, particularly with Afghanistan.

“We consider growing stability and security in Afghanistan to be in line with the promotion of our own stability and security, and believe that differences between the groups would be resolved through negotiations and within the framework of principles, and we always stand by the Afghan government and nation in this path,” the Iranian president noted.

Congratulating Ghani on his new term as the president of Afghanistan, President Rouhani hailed the recent compromise among the Afghan political groups and expressed hope that the efforts by all governmental bodies and the High Council for National Reconciliation would contribute to peace, stability and security in Afghanistan.

The Iranian president also hailed the growing relations between Tehran and Kabul, saying, “We must try to speed up the implementation of agreements and joint projects, including the Khaf-Herat railroad which is a major economic project between the two countries.”

President Rouhani noted that completion of a railroad project in southeast Iran connecting the port city of Chabahar to Zahedan within the next year would help promote transportation and freight services in the region.

He finally pointed to Iran’s success and advances in tackling the novel coronavirus pandemic, stressing that the Islamic Republic will keep providing the Afghan migrants with free medical services and treatment.

For his part, President Ghani expressed gratitude to the Iranian government and nation for offering medical services to the Afghan migrants in the battle with COVID-19.

Highlighting Iran’s constructive role in regional stability and security, Ghani called on Iran to support the process of peace and negotiations in Afghanistan.

He further hailed the growing relations between Iran and Afghanistan in various fields, and expressed hope that the efforts by the two countries’ officials would broaden cooperation between the two neighbors.

Since the outbreak of coronavirus in Iran in February, the Afghan migrants and residents in Iran have received free medical supplies such as disinfectants, masks and gloves.

Iran has hosted Afghan refugees since the late 1970s following the occupation of their country by the Soviet Union troops. Although many of those refugees have returned to their country voluntarily, there are still hundreds of thousands of documented and undocumented Afghans in Iran.

Iran’s Beauties in Photos: Mughan Plain

Mughan Plain

Dasht-e Mughan or Mughan Plain consists of three counties: Germi, Bileh-savar and Parsabad. Situated in Ardabil province’s northern part, the plain is bound on the north and east by the Republic of Azerbaijan, on the south by the city of Meshkinshahr, and by Arasbaran region on the west.

The nature of Mughan area is divided into three parts: mountains, foothills and plains.
The mountainous part includes the southern, south-western and western highlands of the region, which reaches from a minimum height of 100m to 700m in the south and west with a slope of more than 10 percent.

The plain areas in the north of Mughan region, on the other hand, extend to the banks of the Aras River with a very gentle slope – less than 5%. The plains mainly consist of agricultural lands due to their fine-grained, sedimentary, fertile alluvial soils; and are densely populated.

The greenest north-western border strip of Iran is located in Mughan plain: the stunning region of Mouran in Germi county, which includes 63 villages. A large part of the region is covered by a lush vegetation, which is known as the land of two springs. In April and May, also September, this part of plain is full of colourful spring flowers.

Despite its pristine, spectacular nature and numerous historical monuments, Germi is among the lesser known tourist areas of Ardabil province.

Top General Warns Enemies of Iran’s Harsh Response to Miscalculation

Iran Will Definitely Change Approach to UAE: Top General

In a statement marking the anniversary of passing away of late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini, Major General Baqeri underlined that the Iranian Armed Forces are fully prepared to counter the threats and respond to the hostile measures.

The Iranian military forces are vigorously protecting the country’s independence, territorial integrity, and national security, the commander noted.

Under the guidance of Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Armed Forces are sticking to a strategy to “boost deterrent power, maximize defense capacities, and update the offense tactics proportional to the potential threats posed by the front of enemies,” the senior commander added.

Major General Baqeri further gave an assurance that Iran’s military forces remain vigilant at all times to deal with the modern seditions and plots against the Islamic Republic, noting, “As we have announced several times, we will decisively and immediately give retaliatory response to any miscalculation from them (enemies) at any place and any time.”

He also highlighted the failure of the “front of hegemony, Zionism, and the filthy regional reactionary” regimes to harm the Islamic Republic and the Revolution during three decades after passing away of Imam Khomeini, saying their full-blown media wars, cultural onslaught, economic threats and wars, military threats, and psychological warfare against Iran have all ended in failure.

The top commander then pointed to Iran’s strategy of “active and progressive resistance, not stationary and passive resistance”, saying such approach has led to the formation of resistance groups in the Islamic world and the victory of resistance front in West Asia.

Major General Baqeri finally said such active resistance has defeated the ISIS terrorist group and Takfiri terrorism, thwarted the evil plots of the Greater Middle East and the Deal of the Century, and has turned the US withdrawal from the region into a regional and international demand.
