Iran's Nature in Photos Dargah Sangi International Wetland 8

Dargah Sangi is one of the seven wetlands of Sulduz plain in the south-western part of Lake Urmia.

The wetland was on the verge of extinction, but it was revived thanks to the abundant rainfalls of the past two years, as well as the release of the water accumulated behind the region’s dams.

Now birds such as coots, black winged stilts, ducks and terns have returned to the area, bringing back a freshness which was missing for a long time.

Iran Says Won’t Retaliate in Kind for US’ Harassment of Passenger Plane

Mohsen Baharvand said on Saturday the US act was an unlawful move, and retaliation in kind is not necessarily the response to such an act.

“Two bad moves will not necessarily lead to a good result,” said Baharvand, the deputy Iranian foreign minister for legal and international affairs, in an interview with Etemad newspaper.

“If the US military has committed such an act against a civilian airplane, the Iranian Armed Forces will not endanger the lives of innocent individuals simply because of Washington’s unlawful act,” he said.

“While being brave and sturdy, our armed forces abide by professional, ethical and human principles, and this is the difference between us and powers which try to settle all their issues through bullying,” he noted.

“Their main support base is material power devoid of morality,” said the top official.
He said the harassment of a passenger plane is an unlawful act and runs counter to international regulations.

“No one has the right to jeopardize the safety of airplanes of a country intentionally,” he said, adding, “The United States’ militarism has put international peace and security in danger.”

“It is no honour for a modern jet fighter to harass and imperil the safety of a defenceless civilian plane carrying defenceless men, women and children as passengers,” he said.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he touched upon the illegal presence of the US military in Syria.

“This incident happened in the skies over Syria, which, itself, is one of the victims of the US militarism,” he said.

“Basically, the presence of American aircraft in that area is an illegal act and seen as a violation of the UN Charter,” he said.

Iran Vows Appropriate Response to US Interception of Mahan Air Flight

Iran Vows Appropriate Response to US Interception of Mahan Air Flight

In a statement on Friday, Mousavi said the dangerous move, for which the CENTCOM terrorist organization’s spokesperson claimed responsibility, is a violation of international aviation law and a disruption of regional peace and security.

Mousavi described as ridiculous the CENTCOM spokesperson’s claim that the American warplanes were conducting a “standard visual inspection” of the Mahan Air passenger plane at a safe distance during their “routine air mission” near Syria’s al-Tanf airbase, and said the move comprised a series of violations.

“Both the presence of US troops in Syria and the air missions of their warplanes were illegal. More importantly, no one has allowed the United States to inspect passenger planes in the sky using its military fighters,” he noted.

Mousavi said “such an act is illegal, dangerous, and an instance of playing with the lives of innocent people, especially because, contrary to the claims made, the safe distance has not been observed at all.”

“The Islamic Republic of Iran will pursue the US act by referring to international legal bodies, especially the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and will not allow the United States to mock all international laws with such bullying behaviours.”
Mousavi at the same time warned the US or Israeli regime against any new adventure in the region, saying that the stability and security of the West Asia region should not be used as a plaything for US elections.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran will not leave unanswered any hostile move against the Iranian nation, and will show decisive and appropriate reactions to any unwise move,” he added.

US Outlaws Must Be Stopped Before Disaster: Iran’s Zarif

US Outlaws Must Be Stopped Before Disaster: Iran’s Zarif

“The US illegally occupies territory of another State and then harasses a scheduled civil airliner – endangering innocent civilian passengers – ostensibly to protect its occupation forces,” Zarif tweeted on Friday.

“Audacity to compound lawlessness upon lawlessness,” he added.

Zarif underlined that “these outlaws must be stopped before disaster.”

His comments came after US warplanes conducted some aggressive and “dangerous” manoeuvring close to the Mahan Air flight over Syria’s al-Tanf region.

Mahan Air’s Flight 1152 had taken off from Tehran and was en route to the Lebanese capital when the incident happened.

Several passengers said their heads hit hard against the ceiling after the plane had to swoop lower. Footage released by Iran’s state broadcaster showed blood running from the top of the head of one and several others, who had suffered scars, while one passenger was seen lying down apparently unconscious on the airplane’s floor.

Upon landing in Lebanon, a couple of kids were also transferred to a hospital in Beirut for hand fractures.

US Harassment of Mahan Air Flight ‘Act of Terrorism’: Iran

Eslami said on Friday the move by the US jet fighters was an act of terror and Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization will legally pursue the issue.

“Our passenger plane was moving at the international commercial flight route and corridor, and the American fighter jets’ threatening move was unlawful and inhumane,” he said.

He also called on the governments of Lebanon and Syria to file complaints against Washington at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

“The ICAO is also expected to issue a statement against this inhumane move by the US,” the Iranian minister said.

His comments came after two US fighter jets on Thursday came close to a Mahan Air passenger plane in Syrian airspace, causing the pilot to quickly change altitude to avoid collision.

US State Terrorism Continues in Air, on Ground, at Sea: Iran

Harassment of Iranian Airliner Shows US Weakness: Tehran

“From the US shoot-down of Iran Air Flight 655 over the Persian Gulf to its harassment of Mahan Air passenger plane and spreading fear among its passengers! The US state terrorism continues up in the air, on the ground, and at the sea,” Salehi tweeted on Friday.
