Iranian, Nicaraguan Foreign Ministers Discuss Closer Cooperation

In the Saturday meeting, they also exchanged views on both countries’ resistance against unilateralism and interference by some countries in the internal affairs of independent states.

Zarif expressed his gratitude to his counterpart and his accompanying delegation for attending the swearing-in ceremony of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

Zarif also described as important Tehran-Managua relations on different fronts, calling for the exploration of appropriate avenues to maintain mutual cooperation.

The top Iranian diplomat also touched upon the similarities of the two countries when it comes to withstanding the United States’ economic pressure, highlighting that Iranian and Nicaraguan people have emerged victorious in this arena.

Moncada, in turn, said he was pleased to have been invited to President Raisi’s inauguration ceremony.

He underlined the historical relations between the two countries, and thanked Zarif’s efforts to expand mutual cooperation over the past eight years.

Iran Says Raising Kurdistan Flag at Tehran Airport Was Mistake

Khatibzadeh stressed that Iran has always respected the territorial unity and integrity of Iraq, and has an unchangeable policy in this regard.

KRG President Nechirvan Barzani led a Kurdistan Region delegation to Tehran on Thursday to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi. The two met on Friday morning and only the flags of Iran and Iraq were on display.

When Kurdistan Region officials visit foreign countries, especially neighbouring Turkey and Iran, all eyes are on how the Kurdistan flag will be treated. Raising the flag at Tehran airport in the absence of the Iraqi banner was significant, and was noted by the president’s office.

The presence of the flag during visits to Turkey is very significant as Ankara has not only banned the flag but also the word “Kurdistan” at home.

Seeing the Kurdistan flag flying in Iran without the Iraqi one sparked some concern in Iraq and Iran.

Iran’s Talks with US Never Been Taboo: Diplomat

“Talks with the US has never been a taboo. Dozens of meetings were held between the foreign ministers of the two countries at [the time when] the JCPOA [was being discussed] as well as during three rounds of talks in Baghdad where I was also present,” tweeted Amir-Abdollahian, who is currently the Parliament Speaker’s special aide for international affairs.

“The problem is not negotiations,” he explained.

“Rather, it is the United States’ bullying behaviour, major crimes and repeated breaches of promises,” he added.

“Savoir faire and might are two pillars of any diplomatic dialogue,” he said.

Iran Urges UN to Deal with Israel’s ‘Adventurism’

Majid Takht-e Ravanchi

In a tweet, Majid Takht Ravanchi noted Tel Aviv tried, in vain, to point the finger at Iran for an attack on an Israeli-managed ship off the coast of Oman.

“Israel and its supporters presented fabricated information on the recent incidents in the regional waters to convince the UN Security Council to condemn Iran, but they failed to,” he said.

“We categorically deny these allegations. The UN Security Council should deal with Israel’s adventurism in the region and reject its deceptions and fabrications,” he added.

Ravanchi’s comments came as Iran’s deputy ambassador to the UN Zahra Ershadi had also already warned Israel against threatening Iran.

She has also warned Tel Aviv against any adventurism and calculation errors.

“The Israeli regime brazenly threatens to use force against the regional countries while this regime has, for more than seven decades, been the main source of threats, instability and insecurity in the region,” Ershadi said.

She touched upon Israel blaming Iran for the attack on the Mercer Street ship, saying “this is the Israeli regime’s modus operandi,” she noted.

She said victim playing, lying and deception are part of the tools the Israeli regime uses.

Raisi: OPEC Should Promote Member States’ Rights, Interests

“The OPEC Secretariat should consider the rights and interests of member countries as the basis for forming decisions and implementing mechanisms,” Raisi told visiting OPEC Secretary General Mohammad Sanoosi Barkindo.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran, as an influential member of OPEC, underlines the need to improve the global standing of this organization and expand its role in managing the global energy market,” Raisi added.

The president also offered his congratulations on the 60th anniversary of the establishment of OPEC and called for greater coordination among member states.

“The OPEC secretariat should play a more active role in ensuring coordination among member and non-member countries,” he said.

The OPEC secretary general, for his part, briefed Raeisi on the oil market and the organization’s output. He also said Iran is a founding member of OPEC and has played a constructive role over the history of the organization.

“We need the help and cooperation of the Islamic Republic of Iran to advance OPEC’s objectives also in the upcoming years,” Barkindo said.

‘US JCPOA Pullout Costs Iran 2bn Barrels in Oil Exports Worth $120bn’

Bijan Zangeneh made the comments during a meeting with Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries Mohammad Sanoosi Barkindo in Tehran.

The oil minister also said Iran is technically prepared for a return to the global crude markets at the highest level, after a political settlement on the nuclear deal and removal of anti-Iran sanctions.

Zangeneh also called OPEC the only economic organization of the third world countries, which has been influential in global economic interactions.

“The key import of OPEC in which it has been successful has been cooperation despite rivalry and political disagreements, just as we saw this cooperation in the latest [OPEC] meeting and the disagreement between Saudi Arabia and the UAE,” he said.

The OPEC secretary general, in turn, praised Zangeneh’s four-decade record as a director in the oil sector of Iran and his favorable performance despite the difficulties the country has faced.

“We hope Iran continues to play its key and important role in OPEC and the oil market. Improving and developing ties with neighbors will also be very promising,” Barkindo added.

Grape Syrup Halva: A Delicious Traditional Iranian Confection

Ingredients:

Grape syrup: 1.5 cupfuls

Butter or oil: 3 spoonfuls

Wholemeal flour: 6 spoonfuls

Brewed saffron; 2 spoonfuls

Rosewater: 3 spoonfuls

Turmeric: 1 tablespoon

Recipe:

First, sauté six full spoons of wholemeal flour till it turns a little gold. Then remove it from the heat and leave it to cool before sieving it.

Then mix one glass of quality grape syrup with the flour and add a quarter of a glass of water. Also add one tablespoon of turmeric, three spoonfuls of rosewater and two spoons of brewed saffron and mix the ingredients well to prevent the formation of lumps and get a consistent mixture.

Then put three spoons of oil or butter in a frying pan and leave to heat up before adding some turmeric. Afterwards, gently pour into the hot oil the mixture that we have already prepared and keep stirring it until it gets hard.

You may add crushed walnuts to the halva, too.

Turmeric gives the halva a good aroma and taste, but you may use cardamom instead.

Raisi Says Iran Serious in Developing Relations with UAE

In a Thursday meeting with the UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, who was heading his country’s delegation to Raisi’s inauguration ceremony, the Iranian president affirmed Tehran’s real and sincere will to develop its relations with the UAE.

He said there is no obstacle in the way of expanding relations between the two countries in various fields, especially the economic field.

Raisi also stressed that Iran has warm sentiments toward the Emirati people, and that close relations between the two governments can pave the way for establishing brotherly relations and closer cooperation between the two peoples.

The Iranian president further stressed that “the Zionists dislike the countries of the region, and they seek, through normalization of ties, to weaken the ability of the Islamic world.”
