The personnel on the platform took action swiftly and brought the situation under control.

“Iran Capable of Destroying Airborne Targets at 200km Range”

“We have created cutting edge capabilities and equipment,” Brigadier General Alireza Sabahifard said during a ceremony to mark the 14th anniversary of the establishment of the force.

“Today, Iran’s air defense force is the strongest in the region and is among those, which stand out in the world. Our enemies know about these capabilities and exactly this has led to a change in their choice of words and behavior.”

The general stressed that Iranian forces have realized these achievements despite the limitations, threats and sanctions Iran has faced since the victory of the Islamic revolution in 1979.

“The air defense force is developing every day and is swiftly advancing and is using 100 percent domestically-manufactured equipment. Today, we can detect, find, and if we deem it necessary, destroy, any aircraft, regardless of its application,” the general noted.

He also warned enemies that any “unwise” decision to cross Iran’s red lines will bring them a “humiliating defeat”.

Meanwhile, the general announced the launch of the domestic Moragheb (sentinel) radar as well as the production of Alborz 3-dimensional radar. The latter, he said has a maximum range of 450 kilometers and can detect 300 targets simultaneously.

Minister: Iran to Import 50 Million COVID Vaccines

Iranian Health Minister Bahram Eynollahi says inoculations will speed up while authorities have arranged to step up vaccine imports and production, and increase the number of vaccination centers nationwide.

“We will see widespread distribution of coronavirus shots in provinces in the coming weeks,” the health minister said in a tweet.

Eynollahi has said the administration estimates that it will import between 40 and 50 million vaccines in the next two months.

The country has also introduced and is producing several domestically-manufactured shots.

The health minister noted that the administration prioritizes battling the virus and vaccination, calling on people to cooperate with health workers.

Iran has been widely criticized for a slow start of its nationwide coronavirus inoculation campaign.

Officials have partly blamed this on western sanctions which have made foreign trade very difficult.

The Islamic Republic has so far administered over 27,500,000 doses of COVID-19 shots.

Iran, which has suffered several waves of COVID-19 infections, has recorded over 108,000 coronavirus-related deaths so far.

The mud domes’ eruptions take 10 to 15 minutes, sending seismic jolts through the earth and making a gunfire sound while shooting up mud.

Most of Iran’s mud domes are in the coastal plain of the Sea of Oman, most notably in South Bluchestan, and they are mostly active.

In short, Iran’s mud volcanoes are highly unique geological phenomena that can be turned into a world class resort as the Middle East’s second geopark.

Raisi: Iran Seeks to Expand Ties With Latin America

Raeisi made the remark in a telephone conversation with Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega.

He said the Islamic Revolution of Iran and the Nicaraguan revolution happened in the same year and this strengthened bonds between the two nations.

Raisi also said Iran and Nicaragua are on the same page regarding the need to confront the US greed, which is a valuable asset for interaction in the international arena to defend sovereignty of nations.

The Iranian president also said Iran and Nicaragua should work closely at international bodies to neuter US sanctions and make it costly for Washington to take action against independent nations.

Ortega also said his country will forcefully press ahead alongside Iran to strengthen bilateral relations.

He said the US is now openly campaigning against Latin American nations and that the target has been “our unity with Iran”.

Ortega noted that under such circumstances, it’s vital to maintain and bolster solidarity between Iran and Nicaragua.

The Nicaraguan president said awareness has increased worldwide, adding, “We need to empower the cause of struggle for peace and justice in the world through strengthening our relations”.

Iran envoy: All Should Have access to Outer Space

During the 64th Annual Meeting of the Committee for the Peaceful Use of Outer Space (COPUOS), Kazem Gharibabadi said the Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to the peaceful use and exploration of outer space.
He stressed that all countries must have equal access to space, without discrimination and regardless of their level of scientific, technical and economic progress.
The Iranian diplomat added that countries must not occupy outer space, including the moon and other astronomical objects with the claims of sovereignty, use, occupation, or any other excuses.
“The civilian nature of outer space has to be preserved and the installation of any weapon in space must be prevented. The space ought to be used as a common heritage of humanity for peaceful purposes.”
Referring to the plans of several private companies to run satellite networks in near-Earth orbit for global access to the Internet, he said “While these satellites offer the prospect of more efficient and inclusive global Internet access, they run the risk of occupying a large portion of near-Earth orbit, leading to major deprivation of the developing countries of space exploration.”
According to Union of Concerned Scientists, a US-based science advocacy organization, there are over 6,500 satellites, out of which more than 3,300 are active and the rest are inactive, as recorded by January, 2021.

Parl. Committee Lodges Complaints against Ex-Pres. Rouhani

Nasrollah Pejmanfar told Tasnim news that the move addresses the issue of “officials’ failure to take proper action on certain policy areas”, when they were in office.
“The committee has compiled numerous cases on this issue. Some of them have been referred to the judiciary for investigation and others are being completed,” he said.
“[Out of the two cases sent to the judiciary,] the first has to do with the Tehran Stock Exchange and the second has to do with intervention in the foreign currency [market] by some individuals in the former administration, especially former President Mr. Rouhani.”
Pejmanfar added there is also a third case on some former officials’ failure to take action on the issue of housing, which will be completed and referred to the judiciary in the coming days. He said the complaints have been lodged with the prosecutor general.
“In the housing case, we reviewed the entire body of policies that were supposed to be implemented and lodged a complaint against the former president for failing to take action [on the policies],” he noted.
The Ruohani administration has been criticized for a crash in the stock market, which led to many investors, from among ordinary people, losing much of their hard-won wealth. Rouhani’ second term in office also saw a surge in inflation after the US withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal and the re-imposition of anti-Ian sanctions. It led to housing market volatility and a steep rise in prices.

Syria Coach Accuses AFC of Having Bias Towards Iran

Iran is scheduled to hold its first world cup qualifier at Azadi Stadium in the capital Tehran against Syria on Thursday.

However, a few days ago, the Syrian Football Federation used the coronavirus pandemic and the lack of video assistant referee technology in Iran as pretexts to ask the AFC to cancel Tehran as the host. Syria demanded the game be played on neutral grounds. But the AFC rejected Syria’s request.

The decision outraged Syria’s coach Nizar Mahrous , who accused the top Asian football body of partiality in favor of Iran.

“Iran is witnessing a major outbreak of the coronavirus [pandemic]. The Azadi Stadium also lacks the video assistant referee technology. The AFC used double standards. It relocated Australia’s match to Doha and has not been impartial in its decision about our match against Iran,” he said in an interview with the website of the Syrian Football Federation.

“We are not in a good condition and I hope everyone will support the national team so that we can achieve a favorable result.”
Iran has yet to react to Mahrous’s comments.
