Israeli raids on Gaza can trigger regional war: Hamas

Gaza War

Haniyeh made the remarks in a televised speech on Thursday, the 12th day of an all-out Israeli war against the coastal territory that has so far claimed at least 3,800 lives.

“Continuation of the enemy’s atrocities against the people of Gaza will upset all equations in Palestine and the region,” he said.

“What is happening in Gaza will lead to a regional war, which the enemy and its supporters will be unable to control,” Haniyeh added.

Addressing the sheer extent of the Israeli aggression — which has seen the Zionist enemy leveling entire districts and deploying banned white phosphorus munitions against Gaza — Haniyeh stated the crimes “once again proved the Nazi nature” of the occupying regime.

The Hamas’ official pointed to the regime’s earlier massacre of at least 12 people during attacks against a Palestinian refugee camp in the city of Tulkarm in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

“The goal sought by the regime’s aggression is to uproot the people of Gaza and the West Bank, and resettle them respectively in Egypt and Jordan.”

“The Palestinian nation,” he, however, added, “is committed to its land and will never accept either resettlement or an alternative homeland.”

Haniyeh expressed gratitude towards Muslim and Arab countries, especially Egypt, for their opposition to the resettlement scheme.

He described the only means of resolution of the current situation as cessation of the Israeli occupation, saying, “We announced this to all that these atrocities should be condemned, and the murderers and the criminals should be tried and punished at international courts.”

The Hamas’ leader, meanwhile, pointed to American and European officials’ recent trips to the occupied territories, saying the visits seek to bolster the “cowardly Zionist army and the disintegrated Israeli society” following the al-Aqsa Storm Operation.

The Israeli war came after Hamas and its fellow Gaza-based resistance movement of the Islamic Jihad launched the operation against the regime in response to its campaign of aggression, violation, and bloodshed against Palestinians.

The operation killed around 1,400 people and resulted in the captivity of at least 200 others.

US to divert artillery shells for Ukraine to Israel for Gaza war: Report

Russia Ukraine War

The US maintains a stockpile of ammunition at a facility in Israel, which only US forces have access to. Earlier this year, the US began taking shells from this facility and another stockpile in South Korea in order to meet Ukraine’s massive demand for ammo.

Israeli officials told the news site that the US will now be refilling this stockpile with ammunition from its own stocks that had been earmarked for Ukraine, at the direct request of the Israeli government.

The officials stated that the shells will arrive in Israel in the coming weeks.

The report comes a day after US President Joe Biden visited Israel. After Biden met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv, the latter said that the US president had promised him a “massive, unprecedented” package of military aid.

It is unclear from his statement whether the Israeli PM was referring to the artillery shells.

The conflict between Israel and Hamas erupted at a crucial time for Ukraine. With its summer counteroffensive over having achieved only minimal gains at an enormous human cost, Kiev is currently lobbying European nations that can’t manufacture the arms it needs, while American officials are reportedly preoccupied with rushing weapons to Israel.

“We need some support from the leaders,” Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said during an impromptu visit to NATO headquarters in Brussels last week.

“It’s important there are long-distance missiles, or long-distance weapons … The problem: How to get it?”

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has insisted that Washington can afford to fight two foreign wars.

However, funds allocated to Ukraine by Congress are drying up, and President Biden is now reportedly trying to convince an increasingly Ukraine-skeptic Republican Party to okay $60 billion in military and economic aid for Kiev by tying it to a $10 billion package for Israel, which the GOP would traditionally be more amenable to supporting.

Israel has not yet made heavy use of artillery in its war against Hamas, opting instead to pound Gaza with airstrikes while artillery and tanks engage in sporadic exchanges of fire with Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon and the Golan Heights.

However, Israeli troops are currently massed along the Gaza border in preparation for a ground operation, which Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said on Thursday would take place “soon”.

Over 4.7 million Iranians express willingness to go to Gaza to fight Israel

Iran Pro-Palestinian Rally

The campaign, dubbed “I’m your rival” aimed at countering the Israeli regime’s crimes against Palestinians, has garnered significant attention and widespread support across Iran.

The staggering number, equivalent to roughly one out of every 18 Iranians, comes following the very recent atrocities committed by Israel against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Since the Gaza-based resistance movement Hamas launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood against Israel in response to the regime’s campaign of aggression, violation, and carnage against Palestinians, Israel has been raining bombs on the Gaza Strip for the past 12 days. According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, 3,478 Palestinians have been slain and over 12,000 have been injured as a result of Israeli air raids.

The indiscriminate bombing by Israel, especially the attack on a hospital in the coastal region, has provoked worldwide outrage and widespread condemnation.
More than 500 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed during the Israeli airstrike on al-Ahli Baptist Hospital on Tuesday.

Rafah crossing preparing to open for aid delivery Friday morning: Egypt

Egypt’s state-affiliated media outlet Al-Qahera News also reported the crossing will open on Friday, quoting an unnamed Egyptian official. The channel did not specify the exact time for the opening.

The road to the Egyptian side of the crossing is being cleaned in preparation for opening. Tents and toilets were set up Wednesday night for volunteers staying the night at the border.

The Rafah border crossing with Egypt in the south has been considered the last hope for Gazans to escape as Israel’s bombs rain down on the territory, and many Palestinians have begun moving in its direction in anticipation. However, it is currently shut.

US President Joe Biden helped broker a deal between Egypt and Israel on Wednesday.

Biden stated Egypt had agreed to open the Rafah crossing into Gaza for up to 20 trucks of humanitarian aid — but not evacuations. The World Health Organization announced the 20 trucks were only a start, and that the aim is to get up to 100 trucks of aid distributed per day.

Egypt has repeatedly denied that the crossing was closed on its end of the border, saying the aid has been waiting for guarantees that trucks entering will not be targeted by Israel.

Israel noted it will not block humanitarian aid going into Gaza from Egypt, according to a statement from the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. But it will not allow supplies into Gaza from its own territory until Hamas releases all hostages.

Iran’s Kandovan registered in list of best world tourism village

Kandovan Iran

The Deputy Tourism Minister of the Iranian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts announced this historic achievement, making Kandovan the first Iranian village to join the ranks of the world’s top tourism destinations.

Kandovan faced stiff competition from over 200 villages from around the globe, yet it triumphed to be counted among the world’s tourism gems. This recognition comes as part of the UNWTO’s ongoing efforts to promote tourism as a catalyst for rural development and the welfare of villagers.

To earn its place on this exclusive list, Kandovan had to meet rigorous criteria set by the UNWTO, which included cultural resource preservation, economic sustainability, environmental and social responsibility, and a commitment to safety and security.

Kandovan excelled in each of these areas, securing its well-deserved spot alongside 76 other exceptional villages from 40 countries.

Russia-North Korea relations have reached ‘strategic level’: Lavrov

Putin and Kim

Speaking at a meeting with North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui on Thursday, Lavrov declared that the recent meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un gave grounds to say that the bilateral ties “had reached a completely new, strategic level.”

His comments were echoed by his North Korean counterpart, who stated that the partnership between Moscow and Pyongyang is developing into “the invincible relations of comrades-in-arms.”

Meanwhile, the Russian minister also expressed “serious concerns” about the military build-up by the US, Japan, and South Korea on the Korean Peninsula as well as Washington’s policy of deploying strategic infrastructure, including its nuclear assets, in the region.

This summer, the US sent a nuclear-armed submarine to South Korea. In recent weeks, it has also staged several joint war games with Seoul’s military on the peninsula, sparking outrage in Pyongyang, which has conducted a flurry of missile tests in the region.

Commenting on the actions of the US and its regional allies, Lavrov pointed out that “we are countering this unconstructive and dangerous line with a policy of ensuring de-escalation here and preventing tensions.”

He added that Russia, North Korea, and China all support laying the groundwork for a “regular negotiation process on security issues on the Korean Peninsula” without any preconditions.

On Wednesday, Lavrov said that during his trip to North Korea, he planned to discuss the implementation of agreements that had been reached by Putin and Kim during their historic summit in Russia’s Far East in September. At the time, the North Korean leader spent almost a week in the neighboring country, touring the Vostochny Cosmodrome, meeting with high-ranking officials, and inspecting Russian advanced weaponry, including nuclear-capable strategic bombers and fighter jets.

Lavrov also praised North Korea for its “unwavering and principled support” of Moscow’s military campaign in Ukraine, including its decision to recognize four formerly Ukrainian regions as part of Russia. The territories in question overwhelmingly voted to join Russia last autumn in public referendums. Earlier, North Korea recognized the results of the referendum in Crimea, which voted to become part of Russia after the 2014 coup in Kiev.

Iran president calls on Egypt, OIC to provide for reopening of Gaza Rafah crossing

Ebrahim Raisi

“We expect the Egyptian government and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to make it possible for the Rafah crossing to reopen as soon as possible, so that operation to send aid to the oppressed people of Gaza could begin,” said Ebrahim Raisi at a conference in the Iranian capital, Tehran on Thursday.

He added the United States’ veto of a UN Security Council resolution to stop Israeli crimes amounts to injustice against Palestinians.

“The veto, by the alleged supporters of human rights, of a resolution to halt Zionists’ crimes is tantamount to great oppression against Palestinian people and the human community,” said Raisi.

“What is going on today in Gaza against oppressed Palestinian people is a manifestation of your type of civilization, freedom and human rights, which touches the heart of every single human being on the earth, making them absolutely hate the US and the Israeli regime,” he added.

“The blood of oppressed Palestinian martyrs will disrupt the current unjust world order and replace it with a just one,” the president noted.

Berlin readies German elite forces for possible Gaza operation: Report

German Army

The German Army’s Special Forces Command (KSK) has been deployed to the island nation in the Eastern Mediterranean, Bild said, adding that the Navy Special Forces (KSM) unit, also known as combat swimmers, was deployed to the area as well. The federal police Special Forces unit specializing in rescuing hostages (GSG 9) was sent there as well, the tabloid reported.

According to Bild, Berlin is preparing for “all scenarios” amid a continued escalation between Israel and the Gaza-based Palestinian Hamas armed group. The conflict broke out after Hamas launched a massive attack against Israel, barraging it with rockets and briefly overrunning Israeli settlements located not far from Gaza. The attack and the follow-up clashes between the fighters and the Israeli military claimed the lives of more than 1,400 Israelis, mostly civilians, according to authorities.

Hamas also took more than 200 people hostage during their raid, the group has confirmed. According to Bild, there is a “double-digit number” of German citizens among the captives.

The Special Forces could potentially be used to rescue them, the tabloid said, adding that the units could also be deployed to evacuate German citizens working in Gaza or even to help Germans get out of Lebanon if the conflict between Israel and Hamas spreads into its territory.

All the necessary equipment as well as several military transport aircraft, including the Airbus A400M Atlas and Lockheed C-130 Hercules, were transported to Cyprus as well, according to Bild. The government had allegedly already informed the relevant parliamentary committees about its preparations, the media outlet reported.

“We are ready for a cold start and prepared for all options,” Berlin announced, according to Bild.

A “cold start” in the language of the German military means a high state of readiness that would allow the units to be immediately deployed to a relevant area and become operational without any additional preparations.
