Iran tourism: Historical Asef Mansion in Kordestan hosts Nowruz tourists 

The Asef Mansion, also known as the Kord House, was constructed hundreds years ago during the Safavid and Qajar dynasties as a symbol of the Kurdish cultural identity.

Stucco, carved stones, mirror, bricks and arches are the prominent elements in the mansion.

Iranian sprinter Tousi finishes runner-up in South Africa 

Tousi passed the line with a time of 23.40 seconds, after Britain’s Laviai Nielsen in 23.32. Shirley Nekhubui from South Africa grabbed the third spot.

The 35-year-old Iranian runner specializes in the 100 and 200 meters and is a two-time gold medalist in 400m Asian Championships.

President Raisi: Iran is proud of supporting Palestine  

Raisi made the remark in a meeting with head of the political Bureau of the Palestinian movement of Hamas, Ismail Haniyah in Tehran on Wednesday.

Raisi said the courageous resistance of the people of Gaza in the face of the Israeli aggression turned the Palestinian issue into a global issue.

The Iranian president noted that Operation al-Aqsa Flood inflicted an irreparable defeat on the Zionist regime.

Raisi added that today, Hamas and other Palestinian resistance groups, with their bravery and struggle, and the oppressed Palestinian children, with their pure blood, have proven that the biggest war crime and genocide in history was committed in Gaza with the support of the US, which is deplorable.

Haniyah for his part said the religious and ideological approach to supporting Palestine stems from the profound view of the officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Haniyah’s visit to Tehran comes after the UN Security Council passed a resolution, demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza on Monday.

Saadi Shirazi better known by his pen name Saadi – born 1210, died 1291 or 1292- is a renowned Persian poet and prose writer.

Iran’s legislative run-off slated to be held on May 10, 2024

“The run-off will be held on May 10, 2024. The Interior Ministry’s plan is to hold the ballot in 8 constituencies completely electronically,” said Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi on Wednesday.

“The run-off will be held non-electronically in constituencies where only one MP needs to be elected,” he added.

Legislative elections were held across Iran on March 1, 2024. Some candidates failed to secure enough votes to grab a seat in the first round, meaning the election would go to a second round.

According to the Constitution, each candidate in Iran’s parliamentary elections must win at least one-fifth of the total votes in their constituency to enter the parliament.

In the first round of the parliamentary elections in Tehran, 15 people were directly elected to the legislature. In the second round, the competition will be held for the entry of 15 other people.

Iran beat Turkmenistan 1-0, advancing to third round of FIFA World Cup qualifiers

The Iranian National Soccer Team, publically known as Team Melli, had already strolled to a 5-0 victory when the two teams met at Azadi Stadium in Tehran on Thursday.

The match was the third competition in the third week of the 2026 World Cup qualifications.

Iran had earlier defeated Hong Kong and ended with a draw against Uzbekistan.

Turkmenistan had also been defeated by Uzbekistan, while ending in a draw in its match with Hong Kong.

Hamas Leader: Israel achieved none of its strategic objectives in Gaza 

Haniyeh who has traveled to Tehran at the head of a delegation, met with Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hossein Amirabdollahian.

The head of the political bureau of Hamas added: “In order to achieve their goals, the Zionists took various brutal actions and committed crimes, including mass killings of citizens, women, and children, extensive and organized destruction, complete military siege, and starvation of the people and residents of the Gaza Strip.”

 

He said, “These actions resulted in about 100,000 martyrs, wounded and missing persons, injured veterans, as well as total and partial destruction of about 60% of the Gaza Strip and the displacement of about 1.5 million people towards Rafah. However, I emphasize that despite all these crimes, the enemy could not achieve any of its objectives.”

 

He also emphasized that the Zionists consider the cessation of war to be a strategic failure for them, the first result of which will be the fall of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. Despite the rhetoric, America has not made any strategic changes in its positions or support for the Zionist regime.”

 

Haniyeh called for more serious and effective action by the Islamic countries and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in support of the Palestinians.

 

Amirabdollahian, for his part, referred to the resolution approved by the United Nations Security Council on Monday, calling it a belated yet positive action and a political victory for the Palestinian nation.

The top Iranian diplomat added, today, the US and its allies believe that eliminating Hamas and the resistance from Gaza and the Palestinian scene is a “pipe dream and an unattainable idea.”

IRGC member martyred during Israeli regime’s attack in Syria

Vahedi leaves behind a 2-year-old son.

In early March, the Israeli regime had carried out another attack in the Syrian city of Baniyas, martyring another IRGC member.

Iran says its presence in Syria is on an advisory basis and at the formal invitation of the Damascus government.
