Envoy: Iran, Kazakhstan to Finalize 35 Cooperation Deals

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, the Iranian envoy said Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev will visit Tehran on Monday to finalize the cooperation agreements to this end.

He said the two-day visit will take place at the invitation of President Hassan Rouhani, during which cooperation agreements will be signed in agriculture, medicine, technical engineering and services, mining, shipping, transport, tourism, health and treatment, banking and finance.

“The two sides will discuss the implementation of agreements reached during President Rouhani’s state visit to Kazakhstan capital, Astana, in September 2014,” he added.

During President Rouhani visit to Kazakhstan, an agreement worth $500 million was inked between the two neighbors.

As per the agreement, the two sides are obliged to expand relations in geology, metallurgy, agriculture, transportation, logistics, tourism and manufacturing a building materials factory.

Senior MP Criticizes Western Silence towards Killing of Yemeni Civilians

He made the remarks in a meeting with the Chairman of Finland’s Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, Antti Kaikkonen.

“Saudi Arabia is committing big crimes against the innocent people of Yemen on a daily basis, and those in the West who pretend to advocate for human rights are silent about these developments,” the lawmaker added.

He criticized Western double standards towards human rights, and called for halt to the killing of innocent people in Yemen.

Jalali referred to the friendly relations of Iran and Finland, adding that the ground is ready for boosting the two countries’ relations in the post-nuclear deal era.

Terrorism will not be limited to the Middle East, the MP added. He called for cutting off financial and arms support for terrorists.

Kaikkonen, for his part, called for exchange of parliamentary delegations between the two countries, adding that the development of cultural ties between Iran and Finland can help the promotion of the political and economic relations.

Iran Travel Photo Award 2016 calls for entries

Alongside the main objective of the award which is a concern with tourism, the managing team is also very much concerned with the matter of ‘art’ in Iran Travel Photo Award. The award is searching for submissions which present a true, real, and up-to-date, far from politics, pictures of Iran which are in accordance with the reality of the country.

Participation in the award is open to all Iranian and non-Iranian photographers. Each photo must be accompanied by an explanation about the photo, and preferably be submitted in English. This description may include information such as the location of the picture, a description of the behavior of objects or clues to how life is in Iran today. Submissions with a 300-character explanation in English will have more points for the ‘judging’.

Interested photographers can submit their photos – a maximum 5 pieces – via email only at [email protected].

The deadline for submission is June 19, 2016. The finalists will be announced on July 5, 2016.

World’s largest neurosurgical hospital to be launched in Tehran

Deputy of Resources and Management Development of the Vice Presidency for Science Affairs Alireza Daliri told reporters on Sunday that the largest hospital owned by distinguished Iranian neurosurgeon and medical scientist Professor Majid Samii, is physically prepared, however, the equipment is not yet installed.

Stressing that the hospital will be the world’s largest neurological hospital, Daliri said the hospital is three times bigger than International Neuroscience Institute in Hannover of Germany, which is considered now as the largest hospital in the world for neuroscience purposes.

He added the world’s top neurologists demand to have surgery at the German hospital.

“Some of Iran’s active neurologists take training courses in Germany using Presidential Scholarship by the Department of Science and Technology, to work in the world’s largest neurosurgical hospital in Iran in the near future,” he added.

Stating that the launch of the hospital will provide the grounds for medical tourism, Daliri said the place can attract patients at regional and international levels.

UK ready to help development of Iran airport, aviation industry: Goodwill

He made the remarks during his inspection tour of Iran airport and aviation facilities.

UK is ready to transfer airport and aviation knowhow to Iran and help Tehran to develop its passenger terminals, the official added.

UK Companies are ready for scientific and industrial cooperation with their Iranian counterparts, Goodwill noted.

Gholam-Hossein Baqerian, Deputy Head of Iranian Airports Companies for Planning and Control for his part welcomed UK investment in Iranian airports, saying that Isfahan, Mashhad, Tabriz, Bushehr and Ahwaz airports are on the agenda for development.

A UK delegation comprising 13 UK companies active in the field of transportation headed by Goodwill arrived in Iran on Saturday.

Louvre director at Golestan Palace

The President of Paris’ Louvre Museum, Jean-Luc Martinez, along with a delegation of artistic experts, has been visiting Tehran. During his trip, he has met with Iranian heritage officials, and visited various museums and historic sites. Iran Mulls Joining Indian Refinery Projects to Guarantee Oil Sale

“Financially speaking, Iran is a country that seeks foreign investments rather than being an investing country itself, but it has to take some measures to enhance its [crude oil] exports,” said Zangeneh in an address at Iran-India business conference at Tehran Chamber of Commerce Saturday evening.

He expressed hope that the preliminaries for long-term cooperation of Tehran and New Delhi in energy projects will be provided in the near future.

“Indian companies are skilled in petroleum engineering and meet international standards in their works; therefore, Iranian companies may take this opportunity to boost their cooperation [with their Indian opposite numbers],” the top Iranian energy official said.

He said Iran is in need of petroleum industry machinery and equipment, adding that Indian and Iranian companies can join to build the equipment for domestic consumption or export to regional markets or to each other.

“There is a good market in Middle Asian countries and the Persian Gulf regions for export of [petroleum] equipment,” he said.

The official further said Iran enjoys the world’s biggest natural gas reserves and is the only regional country that can export the product so far as regional countries lack gas reserves, except for Qatar, which has no capacity to boost its exports.

Rio center to hold Abbas Kiarostami retrospective

His 1970 short “The Bread and Alley”, which is his debut film, will be shown during the retrospective.

In addition, “Taste of Cherry” (1997), which won the Cannes Film Festival’s Palme d’Or, “The Wind Will Carry Us” (1999), which received the Grand Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival, and his most recent film “Like Someone in Love” (2012) are among the films selected for the program.

Brazilian critic Luiz Carlos Oliveira Jr. will deliver a lecture about Kiarostami’s works on April 28.

The retrospective also will be held at the CCBB branch in São Paulo from April 20 to May 9 and at the CCBB branch Brasilia from May 4 to 23.

Kiarostami, 76, is currently hospitalized at a medical center in Tehran due to a severe gastrointestinal disease.

IME trading grows by 124%

According to the report from IME International Affairs and PR, last week, on the domestic and export metals and minerals pit of IME, 43,900 MT of various products worth close to $25 million were traded.

On this trading floor, 36,470 MT of steel products, 6,430 MT of copper products, 300 MT of aluminum, 60 MT of zinc, 500 MT of coke as well as 140 MT of molybdenum concentrate were traded.

The report declares that on domestic and export oil and petrochemical trading floors of IME, 371,187 MT of different commodities with the total value of $133 million were traded.

On this trading floor, more than 185,356 MT of bitumen, 57,393 MT of polymer products, 92,000 MT of VB, 19,000 MT of lube-cut oil, 15,528 MT of chemical products, 1,900 MT of sulfur and 10 MT of argon were traded.

Moreover, on the agricultural trading floor 150 MT of crude vegetable oil was traded by the customers.

Iran-Iraq gas pipeline ready for use: Official

‘The company will pipe the Iranian gas to Iraq in the near future through the pipeline networks set up for the purpose,’ said Mohammad Ali Emam on Sunday.
Iraq has always been interested in importing natural gas from Iran. But, completion of the propject to lay gas pipeline to Iraq has so far been delayed due to the insecurities caused by terrorist groups like Daesh, also known as ISIS.
It is expected that Iraq become a major gas importer from Iran outpacing even the major Iranian gas customer, Turkey.
The pipeline networks will carry Iran’s natural gas directly to Baghdad and it will be mainly used for generating electricity to meet Iraq’s critical power shortage.
Pumping gas to the Iraqi capital at the preliminary stage will get started with a daily volume of four million cubic meters and it could boost to 35 million cubic feet a day in the next phases.
