Pictures of young Saudi female models posing in front of the pavilion of a luxurious car company at a local show went viral on social media, prompting a punitive action from the Kingdom authorities.

Saudi authorities say organizers of a motor show have violated the principles of the Islamic Shariah by using young models.

Saudi National Program for Conventions and Exhibitions has taken penal action against the organizer of the 10th edition of the Luxury Motor Show (EXCS), Jeddah for a number of violations, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Thursday.

According to a report by Asr-e Iran, as translated by IFP, four female models have already been arrested as of Saturday.

The program has found the organizer guilty of violating the principles of the Islamic Shariah and the Saudi customs and traditions as well as the regulations of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development.

The Program emphasized that the Islamic values and customs shall be fully adhered to while organizing any exhibitions and conventions as well as the regulations for issuing licenses for holding exhibitions and events, Samaa TV reported.

Earlier, the Jeddah Police detained officials of the Motor Show organizing company and some other car companies as part of their investigation into the violations. This was in line with a directive from Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, emir of Makkah and advisor to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, SPA reported.

According to reports, the organizers of the show, which opened on Tuesday in Jeddah, had reportedly violated the principles of the Islamic Shariah and the Saudi customs and traditions. An investigation into the violations has been launched following the pictures of young Saudi women models posing in front of the pavilion of a luxurious car company at the show went viral on social media.

Iraqi Federal Police Forces Reach Gates of Mosul

mosul-2

The Federal Police command announced that its forces have reached the entrances to Mosul, the Arabic-language al-Forat news agency reported.

According to a security source in Nineveh Province, the forces of the Iraqi Counter Terrorism Service have arrived in neighborhoods about four kilometers from downtown Mosul.

Meanwhile, Iraqi Defense Ministry spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Rasool said the Hashd al-Shaabi troops plan to open a new front in Mosul, without giving further details.

The Iraqi army launched the offensive on October 16 aimed at wresting Mosul from the hands of Daesh.

“The time has come for the greatest victory,” Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said on the same day on state TV. “I announce the start of Liberating Mosul Operation, by the will of Iraqis, and after depending on Allah.”

Al-Abadi said that Daesh would be “punished” for its crimes and that the province’s cities and villages will be rebuilt.

In recent years, Iraq has been facing the threat of terrorism, mainly posed by the Daesh terrorist group.

Daesh militants made swift advances in much of northern and western Iraq over the summer of 2014, after capturing large swaths of northern Syria.

However, a combination of concentrated attacks by the Iraqi military and the volunteer forces, who rushed to take arms after top Iraqi cleric Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani issued a fatwa calling for fight against the militants, blunted the edge of Daesh offensive.

Enemies Seek to Divert Attention from Israeli Crimes: Shamkhani

shamkhani

“Hegemonic powers are making attempts to create divisions in the Muslim world to distract the public opinion from the main enemy that is the Zionist regime,” Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said Thursday.

The official met high-ranking clerics in the holy city of Qom to brief them on Iran’s measures to guarantee security in the face of Takfiri terrorism on its doorsteps.

“Thanks to the valuable guidelines of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei Iran has managed to maintain security in and beyond its borders,” Shamkhani said during a meeting with Ayatollah Nasser Makarem-Shirazi

The top cleric, for his part, described Takfiri terrorism as a threat to the security of all Muslim nations and humanity, saying Saudi Arabia is “the birthplace and promoter of the Takfiri ideology.”

Daesh and other Takfiri groups are inspired by Wahhabism which is widely preached in the Saudi kingdom and tolerated by its rulers.

Senior Sunni Cleric: Takfiri Ideology Was Created by US

Mufti of Al Azhar

According to a report by IRNA, as translated by IFP, Sheikh Taj El-Din Hilaly said the banner of Islam will remain upright even if the creators and sponsors of ISIS from the US-Zionist camp don’t like it.

Mufti of Al AzharHe pointed to the inhumane atrocities of the ISIS elements in dealing with their opponents, and noted that discrimination and Takfir has led to the creation of terrorism, which taints the image of Islam.

“It’s a disaster that some hail the beheading and slaughter of innocent people,” he regretted.

“Extremism and Takfiri ideology are like AIDS, and Iraqis are paying the price for this disease right now,” Hilaly went on to say.

He further criticized the ‘unfortunate’ religious differences in the Muslim world and expressed his regret that there is conflict among a society with a single God, prophet, holy book, and Qibla.

The senior Sunni cleric pointed to the fact that God sent Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to create unity among Muslims, adding that solidarity cannot be realized but through efforts to increase mutual understanding and unity among Muslims.

Iran’s Zarif to Hold Talks With Russia’s Lavrov on Syria in Moscow

zarif

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Wednesday that the top diplomat is due in Moscow on Friday.

He said that Zarif is scheduled to attend a trilateral meeting with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, and Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem on regional developments, including the conflict in Syria.

According to Qassemi, Zarif will also hold a separate meeting with Lavrov to discuss Tehran-Moscow relations.

Meanwhile, Russia’s RIA news agency, citing the Russian Foreign Ministry, reported that Zarif and Lavrov will also discuss the situation in Iraq.

Muallem’s scheduled visit on Friday had earlier been announced by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Iran and Russia have similar stances on the ongoing deadly crisis in Syria. Moscow and Tehran reject any foreign interference in the affairs of the war-hit country, stressing that only the Syrians are entitled to decide their own fate.

Iran has been providing military advisory assistance to the Syrian government in its campaign against terrorism.

Russia has also been carrying out airstrikes against terrorists’ positions in Syria since September last year at the official request of the Damascus government.

Syria has been gripped by foreign-backed militancy since March 2011. Over 400,000 people have so far been killed in the conflict, according to estimates by UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura.

In neighboring Iraq, the Arab country’s army is also pressing ahead with a massive operation aimed at recapturing Mosul from Daesh Takfiri terrorists, who captured the strategic city in June 2014.

The army has been liberating more areas around Mosul, with the Iraqi Joint Operations Command announcing that counter-terrorism units were only two kilometers away from the city.

EU, Finland Can Help Settlement of Syria Conflict: Iran Parliament Speaker

larijani

Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Finnish President Sauli Niinistö in Tehran on Wednesday.

He said that Iran supports political solutions to crises in the Middle East, including the conflict in Syria, while some extra-regional players as well as regional sponsors of terrorist groups sabotaged diplomatic solutions through adopting wrong approaches.

The top Iranian parliamentarian also warned against the spillover of terrorism to other regions across the world.

He also blamed the “extremist and deviated” ideology of Wahhabism for the spread of terrorism in the region, stressing that neither Sunnis nor Shias support terrorist or extremist acts.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Larijani welcomed the expansion of ties between Tehran and Helsinki.

The Finnish official, for his part, called for the further promotion of ties between his country and Iran.

He also expressed regret about terrorist attacks in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria and the lack of a political will to end the conflicts.

‘Terrorists pose threat to their own countries’

Also on Wednesday, the Finnish president met with Chairman of Iran’s Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani to discuss bilateral ties and regional developments.

In the meeting, Rafsanjani warned about possible threats posed by foreign recruits when they return to their own countries and the subsequent rise of terrorism across the world, and called on the international community to take measures to address the issue.

The senior Iranian official also raised the alarm over the issue of “state terrorism” pursued by the Zionists.

Earlier in the day, Finland’s president also met and held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on the developments in the Middle East and the promotion of bilateral ties in different sectors, including economic and banking cooperation.

Niinistö arrived in Tehran on Tuesday to hold talks with Iranian officials on a range of issues.

He also met with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday.

Iran’s Carpet Exports to US at $50mn

carpet

Hamid Kargar, head of the Iran National Carpet Center, told Reuters that Iran was under pressure in the US market by rivals such as India, Pakistan and Turkey during the years that the sanctions were in place.

Kargar emphasized that the world’s largest buyer imported more than $80 million worth from Iran in 2010, before the trade embargo on the country was tightened.

He emphasized that a growth in exports of hand-woven carpets will have a positive impact on the lives of the carpet weavers in the country.

There are almost 1 million carpet weavers in Iran, 700,000 of whom are working full-time, Kargar said.

Between March and September this year, Iran exported $134 million worth of handmade carpets, or 2,330 tons, to 80 countries, Reuters said. That was a 17.7 percent increase in value and 10 percent rise in weight compared to a year earlier.

During the sanctions years, Iran partially compensated for its loss of market share in the United States and Europe by finding new buyers in Russia, China, South Africa and some Latin American countries, the report added. It still holds about 30 percent of the global trade in handmade carpets, Kargar further told Reuters.

Iran shipped its first cargo of hand-woven carpets – globally considered the crown jewel of its handicrafts industry – to the US in February after the sanctions against the country were lifted.

The cargo was sent to Los Angeles from Hamburg.
