Iran to Show Strong Reaction to ISIS’ Hilla Attack in Battlefield: IRGC General

Arms Embargo Won’t Affect Iran’s Defence Power: Top General

In a recent deadly attack targeting pilgrims near Hilla, Iraq, dozens of pilgrims, including at least 40 Iranians, were killed.

According to a report by Nasim Online, as translated by IFP, Lieutenant Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Hossein Salami noted that the Takfiri [extremist] terrorists will receive appropriate response in the battlefield.

“These bling, futile, criminal, and inhumane operations are reactions to the defeats the Takfiri terrorists and their state-sponsors have suffered,” he noted.

Appropriate reaction will be shown to these terrorists in the battlefields of the war against terror, which is ongoing in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and some other parts of the Muslim world, General Salami vowed.

The terrorist assault involved a truck bomb that exploded at a gas station in the Shomali Village in the suburbs of al-Hilla, killing at least 73 people.

The incident occurred as pilgrims were returning from Karbala, where they marked Arba’een, the 40th day since the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, a grandson of Prophet Muhammad.

ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack. The terrorist group has been wreaking havoc Iraq, with Iraqi troops and volunteer forces currently fighting Takfiri militants in their last major bastion in Mosul.

Will Post-9/11 Atmosphere Re-Engulf White House after Pompeo’s Election?

trump-pompeo

Less known to Iran’s media circles, Pompeo is in fact a rightist hawk in the Republican Party. His line of thought is said to show his harsh enmity with Iran, and everything that comes from the country especially the nuclear accord.

According to a report by Tabnak, as translated by IFP, Mike Pompeo was one of the unyielding critics of Tehran’s nuclear deal with the P5+1 group of countries and is in fact a figure classified with such figures as John Bolton at the heart of the extremist circle in the GOP. He is not, however, as candid and outspoken as Bolton in raising his outrage against Tehran.

As his name was raised as the main candidate to the post of CIA Presidency, Pompeo tweeted on the nuclear deal with Iran and said he was waiting for cancelation of the catastrophic accord with the world’s biggest ‘sponsor of terrorism’.

Pompeo had in the US elections supported the Florida Sen. Marco Rubio but as Donald J. Trump was named as the party’s candidate, he started to strongly support Trump and explicitly announced that Hillary Clinton could not be the US President.

He and Senator Tom Cotton were those accusing the Obama Administration of presenting certain confidential incentives to Iran in the nuclear accord. Pompeo and Cotton both prepared a report on the issue and sent it to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and stressed that in the agreement, the Obama Administration had entered a deal with Iran over certain secret mechanisms in order for inspection of  military centers.

Pompeo has strong anti-Islamic views and after the Boston Marathon terrorist attacks, he harshly criticized leaders of Islamic groups in the US and asked them to fulfill their duty in connection with taking stance against the attacks or bear accusations of cooperation with terrorists.

From the standpoint of many analysts, his election as president of the CIA along with the recent appointments of Donald Trump show that the post-9/11 intellectual system, with extremist hardliners being on the axis in the Republican Party, will start to overwhelm the US political spheres. The loop will probably be completed in the coming days as the US Secretary of State will be assigned.

Majidi Criticises Saudi Arabia for Banning His Film about Prophet Muhammad

Muhammad (PBUH)

While visiting Turkey for the screening of his film “Muhammad, the Messenger of God”, Majidi, the Iranian director of such films as “The Color of Paradise” and “The Willow Tree”, talked about his movie and the problems he faced in its worldwide release.

This internationally recognized filmmaker also criticised the authorities of Saudi Arabia and Egyptian University of Al-Azhar.

According to a report by Mehr, as translated by IFP, Majidi thanked Turkish people and reviewers for their reception of the film, which is being screened in 350 cinemas throughout the country.

Majid Majidi“We should facilitate the movie`s release. Turkey is the first to start it, so I have to especially thank the Turkish government for allowing my film to be screened in good conditions,” said Majidi.

“I ask the opponents of the film to let people comment on it after watching this movie. I invited the authorities of Saudi Arabia and Al-Azhar University, who banned it, to watch my film. They condemned it blindly, though,” he added.

“This is while Sunni scholars in countries like Russia encouraged people to watch the movie,” Majidi noted in an interview with Anadolu.

Asked about whether the movie is the first part of a trilogy, Majidi said, “I wish I’ll manage to make the two other parts of this trilogy; I think this wish is attainable. We didn`t plan it to be a one-part movie. We designed and constructed the film’s location in a way that it survives at least for 30 years.”

“I am preparing for the production of my new project in Mumbai, India, The shooting will begin soon,” he added to dismiss the rumours of his house arrest in Iran.

Iran’s President Condoles Death of Cuba’s Revolutionary Leader, Fidel Castro

president-rouhani

In a message to Cuba’s President Raul Castro on Saturday, Rouhani said the death of the “indefatigable combatant and leader of Cuba’s Revolution” caused deep sorrow and grief for him.

“At a time that the world’s oppressed nations are suffering from the violation of the most basic and fundamental human principles such as peace, justice and freedom, there are fortunately noble men and combatants who do not give up the struggle until the last days of their lives to raise the justice- and freedom-seeking flag,” the Iranian president said.

Rouhani met with Fidel Castro during a one-day state visit in Havana on September 19. Rouhani visited Cuba after attending the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in Venezuela.

Iran's President Condoles Death of Cuba’s Revolutionary Leader, Fidel Castro

Earlier on Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif offered his condolences over Fidel Castro’s death, saying he was a unique figure in the fight against colonialism and exploitation and was an icon of independence-seeking fights of the oppressed nations.

Cuba’s former president Fidel Castro, one of the world’s longest-serving and most iconic leaders, died on Saturday at the age of 90, his younger brother and successor as president, Raul, announced the news on state television.

Castro famously led a guerrilla campaign that gained popular support and ousted US-backed Cuban dictator General Fulgencio Batista on January 1, 1959. He was then named prime minister.

Castro ruled Cuba for five decades, until 2006, when he temporarily ceded power to his brother Raul because he had to undergo surgery. The transfer of power became official in 2008.

Erdogan Asks Putin to Stop Syrians from Striking Turkish Forces

erdogan-putin

According to a report covered by Kayhan newspaper, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin discussed the conflict in Syria and attacks on Turkish troops there in a phone call on Friday, sources in Erdogan’s office said.

Erdogan told Putin that Turkey respected Syria’s territorial integrity and that an incursion launched in August to drive ISIS militants from the border is evidence of Ankara’s determination in fighting militant groups, Reuters reported.

While the attack on Turkish forces prompted initial suspicions of an attempt to bring Turkey and Russia face to face again in Syria, one year after the jet incident that severely harmed the relations between the two, Russia adopted a cooperative attitude and assured Turkey via communication channels established as part of recent rapprochement initiatives that the strike was not carried out by them.

When Turkish authorities argued that the base from which the jet took off from in Aleppo was under Russian control, Moscow said they would further probe the incident before again contacting Turkey to notify them that the attack was conducted by a Syrian Albatros plane.

Iraqi Parliament Recognizes Iraqi Popular Forces as Official Force

MPs in the Iraqi parliament told Rudaw that Hashd al-Shaabi will also come under full control of the armed forces.

It will also enjoy the same rights and privileges as the army, according to a report covered by Tasnim.

The parliamentary decree also stipulates that members of all of Iraq’s ethnic and religious groups will have the right the join Hashd al-Shaabi and they will be reorganized through the army after the Mosul liberation operation.

The Hashd al-Shaabi was formed upon a call by Iraq’s top cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani in the summer of 2014 when the ISIS terrorist group captured several Iraqi provinces and he urged civilians to take up arms and fight the radical group against further expansion.

Iran’s Zarif: Castro Was Exemplary in Fight against Colonialism

Mohammad Javad Zarif

“I offer condolences to the government and resilient and revolutionary Cuban government and nation over the death of Mr. Fidel Castro, the leader of the Cuban Revolution, who was an unparalleled figure in the struggle against colonialism,” Mohammad Javad Zarif stated in a message of condolence on Saturday.

Zarif also said Castro served as an “example” for the “oppressed nations” in their struggle for independence.

“Peace be upon the soul of this great man,” he said, and wished patience for the government and people of Cuba.

President Raul Castro announced the news of his brother’s death late on Friday. He was 90.

Castro visited Iran in 2001 and held talks with Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

“The commander in chief of the Cuban revolution died at 22:29 hours this evening (03:29 GMT Saturday),” Raul said.

Fidel Castro temporarily handed over power to his brother in 2006 as he was recovering from an acute intestinal ailment. Raul Castro officially became president two years later.

One of the world’s most iconic leaders. He defied the U.S. for decades and survived many assassination plots by the CIA.

Throughout the Cold War, Fidel Castro was a thorn in Washington’s side, Mehr reported.

An accomplished tactician on the battlefield, he and his small army of guerrillas overthrew the military leader Fulgencio Batista in 1959 to widespread popular support.

The Soviet Union’s last leader Mikhail Gorbachev said: “Fidel stood up and strengthened his country during the harshest American blockade, when there was colossal pressure on him”.x

Vladimir Putin described him as a “reliable and sincere friend” of Russia, BBC said on its website.

IRGC Commander Warns of Soft Threats

The soft cultural, political, economic and social threats are the most dangerous threats to the Islamic Revolution, the IRGC commander said at a conference in the northern city of Sari on Saturday.

Highlighting the IRGC’s serious resolve to safeguard the revolution, Major General Jafari said the country has already turned military threats into opportunities, during an 8-year war imposed by Iraq in the 1980s.

The commander further lauded the security in Iran, saying even the anti-revolutionary and opposition forces inside Iran appear to have lost any hope of upsetting security in the country.

In recent years, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has repeatedly raised the alarm at the effects of an extensive soft war the enemies have waged against Iran, saying one of the main objectives is to change the religious and political beliefs of people, particularly the youth.

Soft war is a term used to refer to the cultural invasion and soft intelligence tactics used by foreign countries deemed hostile toward Iran.

J.K. Rowling Sends Harry Potter Books to Syrian Girl

Bana, a young Syrian girl with nearly 100,000 followers on Twitter, says she likes to read, “to forget the war.” She regularly posts videos that capture the sound of bombing, appealing for help as the Syrian Army steps up its assault on the militant-held city.

Bana’s mother Fatemah, 26, created a Twitter account for her daughter in late September,

Bana- Syrian girl

as the Syrian army launched a major ground offensive to recapture Aleppo. Fatemah told CNN she started tweeting because she wanted to “share our life here to the world.”

Fatemah teaches her children — Mohamed, 5, Noor, 3, and Bana — at home. She said that the civil war, which began over five years ago, has dramatically impacted their education.

A photograph shared to her Twitter account on Thursday shows Mohamed and Noor crowded around Bana like two bookends while she read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

“My brothers want to read the Harry Potters too,” Bana said in a tweet, according to a report covered by Khabar Online.

Earlier this week Fatemah tweeted to J.K. Rowling, saying that her family had watched the Harry Potter film, and that Bana was hoping to read the book.

Soon after Fatemah asked how the family could get a copy of the book, a member of Rowling’s team reached out on Twitter to ask if they would be able to read an eBook.

Two days later, Bana tweeted a photo of herself smiling and holding a sign, which read: “Thank you my friend JK Rowling for the books.”

J.K.“Love you too, Bana! Thinking of you, keep safe Aleppo,” Rowling replied.

Fatemah told CNN that they are reading the first book in the Harry Potter series “little by little,” in between the bombardment.

“It’s too early to choose a favourite character,” Fatemah added. “Especially today, many bombs distracted her.”
