Radical Kuwaiti Sheikh Says Photoshop Forbidden

A member from the audience in a ceremony asked the radical Kuwaiti Sheikh ‘Uthman Al-Khamis “can we add effects to our photos?”

Sheikh ‘Uthman replied that editing any part of a photograph is forbidden and not allowed, adding that the photo must stay as it is.

The radical sheikh is well-known for his constant attacks against Shiite Muslims on his TV network and his unorthodox religious claims, Al Masdar News reported.

MP Warns against Construction Projects Endangering Historical Sites

MP Warns against Construction Projects Endangering Historical Sites

“Historical structures often face the threat of demolition on the pretext of renovation,” said Abolfazl Mousavi, an Iranian Parliament Member, slamming the destruction of the historical sites of Yazd.

“There is a historical site in Yazd which is in the final stages of being inscribed in the UNESCO [United Nations Educational Scientific, and Cultural Organisation]. The organization is very sensitive to any changes made within the area,” he added, according to a Farsi report by ICANA.

“Any renovation in historical areas must be planned first,” he noted, pointing that the Municipality of Yazd and Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHTO) have to stop the illegal constructions.

The historical site, consisting of a 1,500-hectare structure adjacent to the urban area, has been trespassed on. “The authorities are responsible for determining to what extent the regulations of ICHTO have been violated.”

“The number of tourists in Yazd has increased by 850% since 2012 due to its historical structure, as well as the famous brands of confectionary, Zilou carpets, Termeh and other textiles.”

Yazd is also known as the city of Hussainiyas- congregation halls for Shiite commemoration ceremonies, where they mourn for Imam Hussain (AS), the third Shiite Imam, especially during the month of Muharram-, with a Hussainiya in less than every 500m. “We are to register Hussainiyas of Yazd in UNESCO. The next step is to inscribe the rituals of Muharram’s first ten days in this city.”

189% Increase in Employment of Iranian Women in Executive Jobs

“The employment of Iranian women in executive positions has increased by 189% since President Hassan Rouhani took office in August 2013,” Ali Rabiei was quoted as saying by Iranian economic daily Asr-e-Eghtesad.

He also noted that women have overtaken men in the job market, saying, “Women held 89% of all the jobs created over the past Iranian year (March 2015-16).”

Financial Tribune further quoted Rabiei as saying that some 700,000 new jobs will be created in the next Iranian year (March 2017-18).

Iran Blames US Policies for Ongoing Tensions in Mideast

“The injudicious and incorrect US policies have been the main reason behind the volatile, tense and unstable situation in the Middle East region over the past decades and recent years,” Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Saturday.

He added that the “wrong and meddlesome policies of US statesmen” have generated the current tensions in the region.

“These mistakes are themselves a product of US officials’ excessive demands and lack of correct understanding and perception of the strategic and sensitive region of the Middle East and a result of relentless support for the [Israeli] regime occupying Jerusalem al-Quds,” the Iranian spokesperson added.

He said allegations leveled by the US official against the Islamic Republic are merely an attempt to divert attention away from Washington’s role in the creation of terrorist groups.

Addressing the Senate Armed Services Committee on Thursday, General Joseph Votel, the head of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), alleged that Iran “aspires to be a regional hegemon and its forces and proxies oppose US interests in Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon, Gaza and Syria, and seek to hinder achievement of US objectives in Afghanistan and some Central Asian States.”

He claimed that Iran’s “influence is the most significant threat to Middle East Security.”

Iran Blames US Policies for Ongoing Tensions in Mideast

Qassemi said the unwise and malevolent conducts of the US are the root cause of the establishment of Takfiri terrorism and extremism and the emergence of terrorist groups such as al-Qaeda and Daesh are just a small part of the results of these policies.

The Iranian spokesman pointed out that even the US president, as the commander-in-chief of the country, had “openly, explicitly and repeatedly acknowledged and clarified [these policies] in the election campaign.”

In an interview in August 2016, US President Doland Trump reaffirmed his assertion that former US President Barack Obama had founded Daesh.

“No, I meant he’s the founder of ISIS (Daesh),” Trump said. “I do. He was the most valuable player. I give him the most valuable player award. I give her, too, by the way, Hillary Clinton.”

Qassemi added that the US is the biggest exporter and supplier of advanced weapons and military equipment to “certain governments in the region” and as such plays a significant and prominent role in the escalation of tensions, crises, warmongering, insecurity and political turmoil in some Western Asian countries.

The Iranian spokesperson said the consequences of such US policies can be clearly seen, monitored and judged by all the world.

Iran Strongly Denounces Damascus Terrorist Attacks

Damascus Terrorist Attacks

Twin bombs targeting Shiite pilgrims killed 46 people in Damascus, most of them Iraqis, on Saturday in one of the bloodiest attacks in the Syrian capital.

A roadside bomb detonated as a bus passed and a suicide bomber blew himself up in the Bab Al Saghir area, which houses several Shiite mausoleums that draw a large number of pilgrims.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi strongly condemned the “heinous and shameful” terrorist attacks.

“Indiscriminate assassinations, carnage and spilling the blood of innocent people, including women and children, are the last resort of the desperate and miserable terrorists who have lost their control more than ever following their repeated failures in different fields,” he noted.

“Terrorists and their overt and covert supporters know well that they are on the threshold of more failures and on the verge of ruin and undoubtedly full collapse,” Qassemi stated.

Earlier, the Syrian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned terrorist attacks in the country’s capital, saying that the attacks were terrorists’ response to the recent achievements made by Syrian army in the ongoing fight against terrorism.

Also, the Iraqi foreign ministry said around 40 of its nationals were among the dead and 120 among the wounded.

Ministry spokesman Ahmed Jamal said buses carrying Iraqi pilgrims to the shrines were targeted. He said a crisis response team has been formed to expedite the identification and transport of the killed and wounded.

Iran FM Unveils His Book on Int’l Relations in Post-Western World

During a ceremony held in the Iranian capital, Zarif unveiled his latest book named ‘Transition in International Relations of post-Western World’.

The Iranian foreign minister has co-authored the book along with Mohammad-Kazem Sajjadpour and Ebadollah Molaei, according to a Farsi report by the Foreign Ministry’s official website.

Addressing the ceremony, Zarif said the book name includes the most important topic discussed by the authors.

“Developments in the time of transition do not merely occur in the West and are not merely caused by the West,” he noted.

Referring to his remarks about the post-Western world in the recent Munich Security Conference, Zarif said, “Still many thinkers say the ongoing developments are occurring in the post-cold war era, but we should admit that the world is not just the West, neither is it formed by the West.”

Why Israel Claims Iran Has Been Historically Anti-Semitic

Mahmood Askarieh
Mahmoud Askarieh –
IFP Managing Editor

Iranian media showed strong reactions after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu distorted the history of Iran’s civilization by terming it “anti-Semitic”.

In his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Netanyahu claimed that Iranians tried, 2500 years ago, to decimate the Jewish nation, but failed to do so. Netanyahu further said Jews hold celebrations on Sundays and Mondays marking their freedom from the hands of Iranians!

According to a report by IFP News, the comments came under spotlight by Iranian media and turned into one of the most visited posts on social media networks. In reaction to Netanyahu’s remarks, some Iranian users of social media networks touched upon the role of Cyrus the Great, the founder of the Achaemenid dynasty, in offering shelter to Israelites, giving them religious freedom and recognising Judaism. They dismissed Netanyahu’s claim as a distortion of history and disrespect for Cyrus.

Netanyahu also said in the meeting with Putin that Iranians today are descendants of their ancestors who lived in ancient times, and hence, they, too, try to exterminate the Jewish people. He noted Iranians say this loud and clear and write it on their ballistic missiles.

In response to Netanyahu, the Russian president said the story belongs to the 5th century BCE, and that people are living in a different world today and should talk together about today’s world.

Now, the key question which has escaped the attention of social media activists as well as analysts of news and political events is why Netanyahu has resorted to ancient times and seeks to explain the situation today by distorting history.

What objective is he pursuing by denying and distorting an undeniable fact, which is a milestone not only in the Iranian history, but in the human history as well? Is he unaware of the content of the Cyrus Cylinder, which is regarded as heritage of the human civilization as well as the first human rights charter? The Cyrus Cylinder is a cylinder of clay inscribed in Akkadian cuneiform script, and is sometimes referred to as the Cyrus’s Command. It openly speaks of the freedom of followers of different religions in territories under the Achaemenid rule. Moreover, all Orientalists recognise Iran’s giving refuge to Jews as a milepost in the ancient history of Iran. So, the question is, is Netanyahu’s knowledge about human history that little?

Three years ago, the Israeli premier sought to distort scientific facts with a childish cartoon and tried to create the impression that Iran was close to developing an atomic bomb. At that time, he had a clear motive for his actions and was one of the key players in the Iranophobia scenario. But now, what does Netanyahu have in mind by distorting historical facts and claiming that the desire to wipe out the Jewish people has been a historical ambition of Iranians?

In that meeting, Putin reportedly asked the Israeli premier to talk about today, not the distant past. But even Putin’s remarks seem not appropriate! When Netanyahu speaks of Iranian-made missiles with “Israel must be wiped out” written on them in Hebrew, it shows he is aware of the present time and has not come to visit Putin to review the ancient history.

Netanyahu’s distortion of history sheds light on his presupposition that Iranians (even before they converted to Islam) and the Iranian civilisation are, by nature, enemies of him and the Jews. Moreover, it reveals he seeks to “Iranise” the fight against Israel’s aggressive nature.

If Netanyahu succeeds in creating the impression that “enmity toward Jews” is a historical ambition of Iranians dating back to the ancient Persian Empire, he will take a key step toward completing a scenario of “reconciliation with Arab states” and the formation of an “anti-Islamic Arab alliance.” Then, the strategy of “creating unity among Islamic states and nations against the Tel Aviv regime” will be superseded by one of “creating unity among regional states and people against Iran, a government and nation that, he claims, cherishes the idea of reviving their ancient empire.”

And that’s not all. Netanyahu and his cronies along with countries supporting Israel have, for years, sought to portray “fighting occupation” as “hostility toward Judaism and Jewish people.” They want to portray a basic right of humans accepted by all freedom seekers, no matter what their religion or ethnicity is, as a racist and cruel anti-Semitic move aimed at making millions of Jews homeless. It has been years that the Zionists interpret the “elimination of occupiers and occupation” as “determination to decimate a government and people that are followers of a divine faith” and insist that this fabricated story is true.

The meeting between Netanyahu and Putin unmasked a scenario formed by distortion of two facts:

The first distorted story dates back to the time when the Israeli regime was established in Palestine. Occupation and incessant building of Jewish settlements on the one hand, and accusing those fighting the occupation of “bearing enmity and grudge” toward an ethnic group for no good reason on the other. This distortion and deception is not a new tactic.

The second distortion, however, is a new scenario. The allegation that animosity toward Jews is a historical issue which has its roots in Ancient Persia! This lie creates the impression that extermination of the Jewish people is an aspiration pursued by Iranians. That would turn the cause of Palestine and the issue of fighting occupiers into and Iranian issue, not an Arab, Islamic and humanitarian one. That would change the meaning of “fighting occupation” and distort facts on the origin of animosity toward the Israeli regime.

Russia Surprised by West’s Inaction on Use of Chemicals in Mosul

The Russian Defence Ministry is surprised by a lack of a proper response on the part of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) to the use of chemical weapons in Iraq’s Mosul by the ISIS terrorist group, a ministry spokesman said on Saturday.

“A series of instances of chemical weapon use against the civilian population by ISIS militants registered last week in the city of Mosul was left unnoticed by the Western public. But what’s even more surprising is the ‘lukewarm’ attitude towards these facts on the part of the OPCW,” Russian Defence Ministry’s spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said.

He pointed out that OPCW did not attempt to send its experts to investigate the chemical weapon attacks and did not issue any official statements condemning the chemical weapon use.

The OPCW analysis of soil samples from the locations of chemical weapon use by terrorists in Aleppo is too “prolonged” and apart from multiple requests to Russian specialists, “there have still been no results,” Sputnik quoted Konashenkov as saying..

He pointed out that with respect to alleged chemical weapon use by Damascus in Syria, the OPCW trusts unsupported claims by activists on social media.

“Isn’t it time for OPCW to review these methods?” he said, according to a report by IFP News.

Earlier on Friday, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Moscow was profoundly concerned about the use of chemical weapons in Mosul. “We have been monitoring the situation since March 2013.

In light of this, of considerable interest are the assessments by Western experts who stated that after Mosul’s seizure by the ISIS has considerably expanded its capabilities to make poisonous substances,” she said.
