Turkish Raids on Iraq’s Sinjar to Cause Instability: Iran

Bahram Qassemi

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi referred to Turkey’s Tuesday airstrikes on areas near the city of Sinjar deep into the Iraqi territory as a violation of the Arab country’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and voiced the Islamic Republic’s support for the Iraqi government’s position in this regard.

“Violating the national sovereignty of other countries with any motive or justification is a breach of international laws and established rules,” Qassemi noted in a statement on Wednesday.

He also stressed that such moves will prepare the grounds for continuation and reinforcement of instability in the region.

New Herbal Medicine to Relieve Babies of Nappy Rash

If nappy rash is not treated, it will result in infectious and fungal skin diseases. Fungal infection is more prevalent among babies who take antibiotics. Nappy rash comes out in a rash and gradually develops into one consistent red-colored spot.

First Step to Treat Nappy RashHow to Treat Nappy Rash

One of the most useful and simplest ways to control and treat nappy rash is to change the baby at short intervals. Each time parents change the infant’s nappy, they had better not wrap it up immediately. They should let air circulate around the baby’s skin for some time to help alleviate the burn.

Prompt Treatment

Among the key factors which make it all the more necessary to treat nappy rash promptly is the possibility of developing skin infection, fungal diseases and severe sensitivity, which could turn into ulcers in the long run. So, parents should not ignore the possibility of coming down with soreness and infectious skin disease.

The major cause of nappy rash is moisture. Children urinate a lot coupled with a watery stool. Even highly-absorbent nappies will leave behind some moisture on the baby’s fine skin. An infant whose skin remains in contact with a dirty nappy for a long time may develop nappy rash.

Louvre Museum to Bring Ancient Civilizations to Tehran

The director of Iran’s Museums and Historical Properties Office, Mohammad-Reza Kargar, declared that Louvre Museum, located in the French capital of Paris, plans to put its antiquities and artefacts on show in an exhibition titled “Louvre in Tehran” in the Iranian capital.

According to a Farsi report by IRNA, Kargar said the holding of the expo is as per a Memorandum of Understanding between the cultural heritage directorate of the National Museum of Iran and the French museum, signed in March 2017.

He added the four-month exhibition will feature precious artefacts and antiquities, kept at the museum, belonging to the civilizations of ancient Greece, Egypt and Rome and a number of works by French artists.

“This will be the first time in the history that the museum intends to lend its artefacts and antiquities to Iran. This is indicative of the two sides’ great trust in each other and their advanced level in museum management.”

Inviting Iranians to visit the exposition, he stressed that showcasing these artefacts and antiquities not only helps Iranian people gain greater knowledge of the ancient civilizations, but also displays Iran’s cultural capabilities, highlights the country’s stability and security, and is a leap forward in its museum management.

Kargar noted that other countries such as Armenia and South Korea will also hold exhibitions in Iran in the year that will end in mid-March 2018.

Mexico has also proposed to hold an expo of its ancient civilization’s antiquities and artefacts in Iran, he added.

Iran’s Zarif: Don’t Pay Attention to Trump’s Remarks!

“Do not pay much attention to Trump’s words,” Zarif said, speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a cabinet session in Tehran on Wednesday.

He made the remarks in reaction to Trump’s comments published on Sunday. The US president said it was “possible” that the US would not remain in the nuclear deal.

“I believe they have broken the spirit of the agreement,” Trump told the Associated Press. “There is a spirit to agreements, and they have broken it.”

Trump had earlier made the same accusation against Iran Thursday. In response, Zarif said Washington itself has not remained committed to the text of the JCPOA, let alone to its spirit.

He noted that 30 ballot boxes will be located in various US cities, 19 in the UAE and 12 in Britain, Mehr reported.

Qashqavi also referred to the huge number of Iranians living in Canada, and regretted that negotiations on holding the election in Canada have yet to bear any fruits due to lack of diplomatic ties with the North American country.

He said statistics revealed that approximately 2.5 million Iranians residing in foreign countries were eligible to participate in elections.

Iranian, Indian DMs Call for Decisive Fight against Terrorism

Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan and his Indian counterpart Arun Jaitley made the remarks during a Wednesday meeting in the Russian capital, Moscow, which is hosting a two-day forum dubbed the Conference on International Security.

During the meeting, Dehqan said closer bilateral political, military, and security cooperation between Iran and India can “remarkably contribute to regional security standards, and have an extraordinary impact on the development of lasting peace and stability.”

He further said the current status of Tehran-New Delhi should reach the strategic level, adding that the two sides could share experiences and cooperate in fighting extremism, terrorism, drug smuggling and piracy.

Jaitley, for his part, said India does not differentiate between various forms of terrorism, asserting that the country “has an incisive position” regarding the scourge, and that “there is no obstacle to cooperation in the area.”

The commonalities in the two nations’ history and civilization have created a mutual interest in the expansion of bilateral relations in all spheres, he added.

Dehqan, who is in Moscow at the head of a defense delegation, is slated to address the conference later in the day. He will also be meeting with Russia’s Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu as well as other world defense chiefs.

The two officials will separately be holding talks with their Syrian counterpart Fahd Jassem al-Freij in a trilateral session aimed at addressing the latest developments in the Arab country as well as counterterrorism efforts.

Kurdish Envoy Blasts Turkey’s Policies, Hails Iran’s Support

In a Farsi interview with the Vaghaye Ettefaghieh daily newspaper, Nazem Dabbagh, the representative of Iraqi Kurdistan in Iran, highlighted Iran’s emphasis on the need to safeguard Iraq’s territorial integrity and that the Islamic Republic believes the way to settle differences between Baghdad and Irbil is through the Constitution.

He said Iran has always stood by Kurds and helped Iraq in its fight against ISIS.

“After the emergence of ISIS and its gaining control over large parts of the Iraqi territory and the Kurdistan Region, the Islamic Republic of Iran was the first country to take steps to help and cooperate with Irbil. The head of the Kurdistan Region, in a special message, thanked Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. The reality is that the security of the Kurdistan Region is the same as Iran’s, and the security of Iran means the security of Kurdistan Region,” said Dabbagh.

Dabbagh, who has been present in Iran over the past 18 years as the envoy of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, said Iran plays a positive role in settling differences between Irbil and Baghdad.

“Disputes between the Kurdistan Region and Iraq’s central government do not belong to the present time, but have their roots in the era of former Iraqi dictator Saddm Hussein,” he said.

“But what has happened is not what we expected,” said Dabbagh.

“We established a new Iraq via cooperation, and as we are witnessing, the Peshmerga have played a key role in safeguarding Iraq’s dignity. Tehran has also played a positive role by mediating between the two sides and seeking to resolve our differences with Baghdad by referring us to the Constitution,” he added.

“On the whole, we assess Iran’s role as positive,’ he said.

He drew a comparison between Iran’s behaviour and that of Turkey toward Kurds, and then touched upon Kurds’ efforts to hold a referendum and raise the flag of the Kurdistan Region in Kirkuk as well as the reaction shown by Iraq’s neighbours.

“Iran, as a neighbour of the Kurdistan Region, has supported Kurds’ freedom-seeking movement and has cooperated with us at different junctures,” he said.

“Iran has also been the first country to back Iraq’s new national government, and has always said it loud and clear that it wants Iraq’s unity and territorial integrity protected,” he said.

Dabbagh criticized Ankara’s threatening reaction to Kurds’ demands and praised Iran’s position on the settlement of disputes between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad.

“Unlike some regional countries which threatened the Kurdistan Region regarding this issue, one can assess as positive remarks by Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi, because on the one hand, he says the [Kurdistan Region’s] flag shouldn’t be hoisted in Kirkuk, and on the other, urges us to return to the negotiating table and settle our difference with a look to the Constitution,” he explained.

He said Kurds also believe if arguments concerning Article 140 of the Constitution are settled, a great number of the current differences will be resolved as well. He said the holding of a referendum is nothing strange because it is emphasized in the Iraqi Constitution that a plebiscite must be held in disputed regions.

The diplomat assessed as positive the prospects for relations between Iran and the Kurdistan Region.

“Given the cordial relations both in the past and at present, and given that we and Iran share the same cultural geography and history, I predict a positive outlook for bilateral ties,” Dabbagh noted.

Iran’s New Ambassador Finally Arrives in Syria

Javad Torkabadi, the new Iranian ambassador to Syria, arrived in Damascus on Wednesday, according to a Farsi report by Fars News.

The empty position of Iranian ambassador to Syria had been hotly debated by the opponents of Iran’s government, especially when a critical situation necessitated a more resolute Iranian embassy in Damascus.

Iran New Ambassador in Damascus However, a couple of months ago, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif obtained President Rouhani’s consent to appoint Torkabadi as the new envoy to Damascus in a move to address such concerns.

Torkabadi served as Iran’s ambassador to Sudan (2010-14); he has also been Iran’s ambassador to Bahrain and Nigeria, and was for a time Iran’s chargé d’affaires in Kuwait. Back in Foreign Ministry, Torkabadi chaired the First Office of North and West Africa.

Iran’s embassy in Damascus had been run by a chargé d’affaires after Mohammad Reza Raouf Sheibani left the position. He had begun service as part of a 5-year mission that ended in October 2016.
