2.5m Iranians to Take Part in Arba’een Pilgrimage

2.5m Iranians to Take Part in Arba’een Pilgrimage

Mohsen Nezafati, a senior Iranian pilgrimage official, said last year 2 million Iranians took part in the Arba’een pilgrimage “but this year, we estimate the number will reach 2.5m.”

According to a Farsi report by ISNA, he called Arba’een pilgrimage the largest gathering of the world’s Shiite Muslims and added besides its spiritual aspect, Arba’een pilgrimage serves as a massive political maneuver.

“Given the Takfiri terrorists’ active presence in the region over the past years, Arba’een pilgrimage has gained more momentum,” he added.

The Iranian official went on saying that the presence of such a large number of Iranians in Arba’een pilgrimage each year is not possible without close cooperation between Iran and Iraq.

2.5m Iranians to Take Part in Arba’een Pilgrimage1The pilgrims are expected to observers the recommendations made by two sides, he added.

The Iranian consulate in Karbala also called on the Iranian pilgrims to avoid any wayward move during the pilgrimage and asked them to sign up for the pilgrimage through the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization’s website.

The Iranian official also urged the pilgrims to prepare their passports and visas earlier, saying no one is allowed to pass through Iraqi borders without passports and visas.

He finally called on the pilgrims to remain patient during the pilgrimage, saying they have to put up with some logistical shortcomings because offering full services to all pilgrims is impossible during the massive pilgrimage.

2.5m Iranians to Take Part in Arba’een PilgrimageArba’een comes 40 days after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shiite Imam, Imam Hussein (AS).

Each year, a huge crowd of Shiites flock to Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rites of Arba’een.

Last year, the total number of pilgrims going to Karbala for Arba’een reached 20 million.

No US, Saudi Aircraft Allowed to Cross Iran’s Airspace: Commander

“We do not allow American aircraft, even the passenger airliners, to cross Iran’s airspace, because we disagree with the policies of the US government,” Brigadier General Esmaili said.

“Moreover, the countries which are committing crimes in Yemen cannot use Iran’s airspace either,” he underlined.

“A while ago a Saudi official said we can capture the Islamic Republic’s airspace in four hours! After that, Iran’s air defence came into action and declared that the Saudi aircraft had no right to cross the airspace of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Esmaili went on to say that the International Civil Aviation Organization gave the title “Safest Airspace in the Middle East” to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He also explained the capabilities and plans of Khatam al-Anbia Air Defence Base in a Farsi interview with the Vatan-e Emrouz newspaper on the anniversary of the formation of the base.

Talking about the new forms of threat, he said the neighbouring countries surrounding Iran are sometimes not well controlled and put their territories at the disposal of trans-national and arrogant states, or they eventually have a military treaty and contracts, and give part of their territory or military bases to trans-regional countries.

This helps the countries that are thousands of miles far away from Iran to get practically located next to the country, he added.

Regarding the new weapons bought by Saudi Arabia, this Iranian military official stated that with the money of the Saudi nation and the petrodollars that belong to the next generations, Saudis buy equipment that they cannot even use in the right way.

“The people of Saudi Arabia are Muslims, and we have Mecca and Medina there, so we respect them, but if the Saudi regime wants to start a game to pursue US policies like the one adopted in Yemen, they must know that we are not Yemen and we will respond immediately.”

“We brought down the aircraft which belonged to the Saudis’ master (US) and kept it for seven hours. The United States could wage a war in less than 10 minutes, but why it did not? Because Washington knew that it will not benefit from it. Be sure that the US will not benefit from any conflict with the Islamic Republic of Iran”, Brigadier General Esmaili stressed.

Idea of Iran’s Coordination with US Warships Ridiculous: Top Officer

In an address to a Tuesday seminar in Tehran, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Major General Mohammad Baqeri, said the idea of coordination with the American warships in the region is ridiculous for Iran.

“If our oil platforms in the Persian Gulf come under terrorists’ attacks, can we hold the foreign warships in the region responsible?” he asked.

“Can the Iranians expect the foreigners to provide the security of their oil platforms in the region?” he added, according to a Farsi report by the Fars News Agency.

He went on saying that as an independent state, Iran presses ahead with defending itself and its borders within international law.

“At present, we are facing various military threats and the enemies are seeking to inflict blows on us,” he said.

The Iranian commander stressed that Iran preserves all legal rights for self-defence, adding, “Recently the arrogant entities made uproar by claiming that Iranian vessels had approached American warships in the Persian Gulf in a move to begin a battle.”

Major General Baqeri said based on international law, the shores of Persian Gulf belong to the Islamic Republic of Iran. ”Unfortunately a country from tens of thousands of miles away has deployed warships in the Persian Gulf and preserves special rights for itself. And now it says that if your vessels want to come close to our warships you need to make arrangements.”

“This is a clear example of double oppression in the international law,” he said.

Elsewhere in his statements, he said that Iran secures its air borders within the laws of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). “If a plane violates Iran’s air space, our air defence forces will warn it immediately to leave the space.

However, he noted, unfortunately the arrogant powers make uproar that Iran has threatened a foreign plane. Anyhow, the enemies of Iran must know that warning is the softest reactions that we show against the foreign planes’ illegal entry into our air space.

He referred to the nuclear deal signed between Iran and the world powers and said since the beginning of the nuclear talks, Iran had stressed that the deal has nothing to do with its defensive capabilities.

“But step by step they set conditions for us saying you are not allowed to make missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads. Then they said you are not allowed to make any missile of any type,” he said.

General Baqeri noted that international law requires all countries to respect others’ sovereignty, avoid interferences in others’ internal affairs and fight terrorism.

“Unfortunately some big powers in the world violate the very principles which they themselves have set,” the commander stressed.

The Iranian commander referred to the wars underway in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Bahrain and Myanmar and said none of the world powers have yet observed the international law in the mentioned countries.

“During Iran-Iraq war, we saw that Iraq violated Iran’s sovereignty defying a demarcation deal between the two sides. And the main question lingering in mind is that why the big powers never blamed Iraq for such violence? On the contrary, they equipped it with the latest chemical bombs to target our people,” he concluded.

Iran’s Beauties in Photos: A Village with Three Churches

The village, located near the city of Fereydoun-Shahr, is no longer home to those Armenian families as many of them have immigrated to cities and towns and only six families of two members are left in the village.

Khoyhan Olia is the only village in Iran that has three churches. One of these churches, Church of John the Apostle, is a historical structure dating back to Safavid era. The church was inscribed as a national heritage back in 2007.

Here are ISNA‘s photos of the beautiful village:

Saudi Media Ordered Not to Attack Iran: Report

Based on an order by the Saudi royal court, the Arab country’s domestic and international newspapers and TV channels are obliged to refrain from attacking Iran, according to a report by Ray al-Youm.

The order comes against the backdrop of an upcoming visit by a Saudi delegation to Tehran, twenty months after the two sides severed their bilateral ties.

At the end of last month, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif confirmed that a meeting with a diplomatic delegation from Saudi Arabia would soon be held, saying that the meeting was the first step in thawing relations between the two countries.

Iran Congratulates Syria on Victories over Terrorists

shamkhani

In a message to his Syrian counterpart Ali Mamlouk, Shamkhani highlighted the leading role of Syrian President and Commander of Armed Forces Bashar al-Assad as well as the resistance forces and popular committees in the liberation of Deir ez-Zor.

The back-to-back victories of Syrian government forces over the Takfiri terrorists and the liberation of important and strategic areas in Syria herald a promising future for the region with a secure and stable condition.

The top military advisor to Iran’s Leader went on saying that the terrorists are expected to be completely eradicated thanks to the relentless endeavours of the Syrian fighters who sacrifice their lives in fight against terrorists as well as the upcoming liberation of all cities and villages across the country.

“Active, practical and close cooperation between Iran, Syria, Iraq and Russia as well as Lebanon’s Hezbollah has led to massive achievements in fight against ISIS and other terrorist groups. Meanwhile, the foreign conspiracies against the regional states aimed at creating instability and insecurity have failed due to the cooperation,” he added.

Shamkhani wished success for the Syrian security chief and stressed the Islamic Republic of Iran will continue its constructive cooperation with the Syrian government by sending humanitarian aid to the war-torn nation and offering field consultations to the Syrian sides to reconstruct the areas retaken from the terrorist groups.

Iran Unveils Its First Drone Base, Warns Enemies

Head of the Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base Farzad Esmaili (seen below) inaugurated the airstrip on Sunday, as the headquarters released a video of UAVs parked on the tarmac at the undisclosed site.

In an address to the inauguration ceremony, Esmaili described Iran’s drone capabilities “an award for the heroic nation,” as he sent a stern warning to the country’s enemies.

“Maybe, the enemy thinks it can attack us. But the main question is how it is supposed to escape unscathed,” he said.

Iran is regarded as a bona fide drone power among a few countries with operationally deployed armed drones and its extensive unmanned aerial vehicle program dates back to the Iraqi war of the 1980s against the Islamic Republic.

Esmaili said, “Air defense centers throughout the entire territory of the Islamic Iran work in tandem with the indigenous integrated air defense command and control system.”

Iran Unveils Its First Drone Base, Warns Enemies

Iran’s UAV program has expanded in recent years with more than a dozen models operating for a variety of functions ranging from surveillance, to intelligence gathering, carrying bombs and Kamikaze operations.

They have been playing a significant role in the fight against Takfiri terrorists as well as monitoring US warships in the Persian Gulf.

Esmaili touched on Iran’s downing or capture of intruding drones, including an Israeli Hermes which was shot down in October 2014.

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said at the time that its forces intercepted and hit the spy aircraft on its way to the Natanz nuclear facility in the central Isfahan province.

In December 2011, Iran grounded a US RQ-170 Sentinel, using electronic warfare techniques, as the stealth aircraft was flying over the Iranian city of Kashmar near the Afghan border.

Food Sent by Iranian Volunteers Distributed among Palestinians, Yemenis

According to the public relations of the Iran-based International Centre of Justice for Peace, the distribution was made on the most significant holiday in the Islamic calendar, the Feast of Sacrifice or Eid ul-Adha.

The packs were simultaneously distributed in Gaza and Yemen on the occasion of the Feast of Sacrifice which this year fell on Friday.

The Spokesperson for the non-profit Centre of Justice for Peace, Mohammad Asqari, said the main motive behind this popular move was to express sympathy with the oppressed people of Gaza and Yemen who are suffering under the Israeli and Saudi Arabian suffocating sieges.

He referred to the desperate conditions of people in the Gaza Strip and said Gaza is faced with a humanitarian crisis and the Palestinian Authority, in complicity with the Israeli regime, has put the poor Palestinians in the enclave under a suffocating siege over the past decade.

“Only last month, 5 Palestinian children lost their lives due to lack of medicines caused by the Israeli blockade on Gaza. As a result of the siege, Palestinian patients cannot be transferred to hospitals outside the impoverished enclave,” he said.

Asqari also said more than 60 percent of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are in dire need of humanitarian aid.

He then referred to the Yemenis’ sufferings and said more than 7 million innocent people in Yemen are suffering from deadly diseases and lack of food. “This is the most critical humanitarian crisis in the world over the past 90 years,” he concluded.
