Iran Dismisses Israeli PM’s Claims about Buenos Aires Bombings

Iran Dismisses Israeli PM’s Claims about Buenos Aires Bombings

In a statement on Wednesday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran condemns the past years’ bombings in Buenos Aires, and rejects the accusations levelled against Iranian nationals in this regard.”

The Islamic Republic regards these accusations “as part of the Zionist regime’s anti-Iran plots and the mafia of power in Argentina who try to help the real perpetrators of the move escape punishment,” he added.

The Iranian spokesman also denounced the Israeli premier’s baseless and worthless claims about the Buenos Aires bombings and linking the Islamic Republic of Iran to the attacks.

He further called on the world to pay attention to the growing crimes of the Zionist regime of Israel, which violates human rights in the occupied territories of Palestine.

“We urge international bodies to take a decisive action to stop the slaughter of innocent people in the occupied Palestine, the violation of national sovereignty of Lebanon and Syria, the repeated aggressions on Islamic and Arab countries, and the state support for terrorism by this child-killing regime (Israel),” Qassemi added.

Iran Rejects Final Statement of Arab League Summit

Bahram Qassemi

In a statement on Wednesday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi rejected the Arab League summit’s final statement and the claims made by Kuwait and the UAE on the Iranian islands of Abu Musa, the Greater and Lesser Tunbs, saying such positions are rooted in political motives and lack of understanding of the historical realities.

Qassemi also dismissed the baseless allegations made by Kuwaiti representative on Iran and stated, “Given the tense atmosphere of the Arab League’s meeting yesterday, it seems that by repeating such unfounded charges they want to distract public opinion from the existing facts.”

“The statement issued (in this meeting) is a clear indication of interference in the internal affairs of other countries. Stressing the legal and legitimate measures in our territory, we strongly condemn such claims on the Iranian islands and vehemently reject them,” Qassemi added.

“Such imbalanced stances widen the gaps between regional countries, delaying the targeted regional collaborations, and will not have any other impact.”

“The principled policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran towards the Persian Gulf littoral states is to observe good neighbourliness, mutual respect and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, and paying attention to the historical and legal realities and current sensitive conditions of the region,” he added.

IAEA Inspection No Excuse for Accessing Iran’s Classified Data: Zarif

Based on the Additional Protocol, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and the framework of cooperation between Iran and the IAEA, the UN nuclear watchdog can only inspect Iranian sites built for nuclear activities, Zarif told reporters upon his arrival in Russia’s Sochi on Wednesday.

He made the comments when asked about IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano’s recent comments that his agency does not distinguish between civilian or military sites in its inspections and would ask Iran for access when necessary.

None of the IAEA inspections could be used as an excuse for access to Iran’s classified information, the top diplomat underscored.

He also noted that the UN nuclear agency has already verified there has been no undeclared nuclear activities in Iran.

As regards the purposes of his trip to Russia, Zarif pointed to coordination between Tehran and Moscow on regional developments, particularly Syria.

The cooperation among Iran, Russia and Turkey resulted in the improvement of the situation in Syria and prevented tensions to a great extent, Zarif went on to say.

He also stressed the need for closer coordination between Iran and Russia given the recent US stances toward the JCPOA, the nuclear agreement between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).

Iran to Send Doctors, Build Makeshift Hospital for Myanmar Muslims

Senior Iranian official Ebrabihm Rahimpour says a number of Iranian lawmakers have held a meeting, despite the parliament’s summer recess, to discuss the situation of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar and the measures that Iran is taking to reach out to the persecuted minority.

He said Tehran has prepared aid shipmentsfor the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

“The first [aid] consignment will be shipped to the Arkan region on Friday. Talks have been held with the governments of Myanmar and Bangladesh in that regard, and we are waiting for flight permits,” said Rahimpour, the deputy Iranian foreign minister for Asia-Pacific affairs, after an extraordinary session attended by members of the parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission and Foreign Ministry officials.

“Moreover, some individuals will be dispatched to the area to assess the situation and see how to carry out relief operations better,” he added.

“A few doctors will also go there to take care of the [Rohingya] Muslims’ needs; we have also decided to build a makeshift hospital there,” he further said.

“We will see what the best routes are to send in goods. The Foreign Ministry will also study the matter from a legal and political perspective, and follow up the issue through the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.”

“By helping a Sunni religious minority in Myanmar, Iran is showing that it regards all Muslims around the world on an equal footing, and the Myanmar government should realize that it is treading the wrong path,” Rahimpour underlined.

He said around 100 tonnes of commodities are ready to be shipped, and added they will be sent in two 50-tonne batches if the whole consignment cannot be dispatched at one go.

“These supplies will be sent to the refugees on Myanmar-Bangladesh borders.”

He said the relief aid will be sent to Muslims inside Myanmar as well.

Ayatollah Khamenei demanded that the ideals and values of the Islamic Revolution of 1979 be applied to the council, further adding, “Imam Khomeini’s thoughts and the ideals of the Islamic Revolution must fully rule over the Expediency Discernment Council.”

‘Queen of Iran’s Skies’ Tells Story of Her Paragliding Career

Fatemeh Eftekhari

Eftekhari is the only woman from Iran who participates in international competitions and gets qualified for the World Cup.

Her last success was achieved in Kazakhstan, where she won the bronze medal in the international paragliding competitions. This tournament was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, from August 22 to 29.

‘Queen of Iran’s Skies’ Tells Story of Her Paragliding CareerHere are excerpts from the Jame Jam newspaper’s interview with the “Queen of Iranian Skies”:

In recent years, it has been quite normal to give titles to female athletes. As in men’s sports, there is now a huge number of titles such as Rex, General, Hercules, Magician, etc., in women’s sports, and we know athletes with their titles. In football, Elham Farahmand is titled ‘David Beckham’ and in billiard Akram Amini is known as the ‘Genius’. Now Fatemeh Eftekhari is titled as the ‘Queen of the Skies’.

Women’s Flight Society

We have seen so many pictures of Fatemeh in the skies that we thought she was the only active paragliding pilot in Iran, but we were wrong.

“In the last two or three years, I was the only woman pilot who actively participated in international competitions and took them seriously, but there are a lot of female pilots flying in Iran, and day by day we see more and more of them,” she said.

‘Queen of Iran’s Skies’ Tells Story of Her Paragliding Career“Five years ago, in consultation with several other active women in the paragliding, we formed a cyber group and discussed the scientific issues of flying. This group was called the Women’s Flight Society. By forming such virtual groups, we shared the photos and videos of women’s flights and got to know each other. Those who were more experienced were answering questions by novices. This was the result of our efforts within the past four years. Now more women are taking part in the competitions, and this September we have two competitions in Iran, which I hope will be held with the presence of women,” Eftekhari said.

Numerous Medals for Iranian Flying Woman

Eftekhari is undoubtedly one of the best woman paragliding pilots in the world. She wins medals after medals and is considered to be an athlete who never finishes a competition empty-handed.

‘Queen of Iran’s Skies’ Tells Story of Her Paragliding Career“Every year, I take part in three international competitions. For many years, I have won gold, silver and bronze medals. I have not returned from a competition without a medal. The last one I participated in was Kazakhstan. There were 115 pilots from 22 countries, of which 25 were female ones. The best pilots in the world were present at the competition. I won the bronze medal in the sports class, which is shared by men and women. In the team competitions, ‘Zagros Cloud’ from Iran came in first place with a significant difference from the second. A Korean participant won the title in the women’s section, and the second place went to a Russian pilot while I won the bronze medal. I had also participated in Turkey’s Kayseri competitions a few days before the event in Kazakhstan. In Turkey, Iran’s Mohammad Semnani won the gold medal in men’s class and I won the gold medal in women’s class. There, the competitions were very tough and serious,” Eftekhari added.

Calm of the Pilot Lady

At the end of our interview with Fatemeh Eftekari, she said, “I have no particular purpose for flying. For many years, I have been among the first 10 paragliding pilots in Iran. My records are no longer exciting for me. Now my goal is to bring more ladies to the women’s sports community. I am very happy now as my efforts in this field have been fruitful. It gives me calm of mind.”

Iran’s IKCO, Mercedes Benz to Establish Joint Venture

Iran’s IKCO, Mercedes Benz to Establish Joint Venture

The contract was signed on Tuesday between Iran Khodro Diesel (IKD), representing IKCO, and Mercedes Benz in the latter’s main production site in Germany.

The ceremonial event was attended by Iran’s Deputy Minister for Industry, Mohsen Salehi-Nia, chairman of Iran Khodro Diesel’s board, Mohammad Reza Feiz-Bakhsh, and Iran Khodro’s CEO, Hashem Yekkeh Zare as well as a number of high-ranking managers from Iran and Germany, a Farsi report by IRNA said.

In an address to the event, IKCO’s CEO expressed hope that given the two sides’ current cooperation in the production of commercial vehicles, the contracts signed between them last year would become finalized soon.

The contract requires both sides to establish a joint venture for sales and after-sale services of Mercedes Benz’s commercial vehicles in Iran.

The joint venture between IKCO and Mercedes Benz will start its work with IKD playing a 20-percent role in the production process but the figure may increase from 30 to 50 percent in case of economic efficiency.

The two sides also signed a deal to set up a second joint venture to produce the current and future generations of Actros Truck.

The current generation of Actros will be produced until 2019 and the new generation of the truck is set to be produced after 2019 as per the latest European standards. In the next phase, a new production line is set to be set up in Iran.

Meanwhile, the joint venture is predicted to conduct surveys and replace the current productions with new ones based on the Iranian customers’ needs and tastes.

Iran Khodro is also holding talks with Benz-Daimler to establish a joint venture to produce new engines to meet markets’ needs.

The signing of the agreements came following the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers to relieve sanctions against Iran. Since then, different vehicle manufacturers of Iran have begun talks with their foreign counterparts and signed a number of agreements with them.

Kurdistan Referendum Regionally Harmful: Iranian Envoy

Kurdistan Referendum Regionally Harmful: Iranian Envoy

In an address to a group of Iraqi leading media and elites in Baghdad, Iran’s ambassador to Iraq, Iraj Masjedi, stressed that the Islamic Republic has explicitly made it clear to the “Kurdish brothers” in Iraq that Tehran is totally against the idea of holding an independence referendum.

According to a Farsi report by IRNA, Masjedi said part of Tehran’s opposition is due to harmful effects of such a referendum on the lives of Iraqi Kurds.

“Our opposition is based on analysis of the realities on the ground because we believe that at present, Iraq’s Kurdistan has a stable and calm condition,” he said, adding the idea of an independence referendum will embroil Kurdistan region into the political, security and economic crises that Iraq’ central government is now grappling with.

He referred to Iran-Iraq joint fight against terrorism and said the Islamic Republic of Iran has paid a heavy price in the fight to protect its neighbour.

Touching on the diplomatic ties between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Arab states of the region, he said Iran has always sought to establish good-faith relations with its Arab neighbours. “But this is the Arab states who avoid any close relation with the Islamic Republic under pressure from foreign powers,” he noted.

The ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Iraq also referred to the water crisis in the region and said the main bulk of the water flowing into Iraq come from Turkey and Syria.

“Only 8 percent of the water flowing into Iraq comes from Iran. On the other hand, 50 percent of the water ends up in Kurdistan region and the remaining 50 percent end up in regions under the control of the central government of Iraq,” he said, adding the origins of the water in Iran have dried up in recent years.

He rejected as baseless any report saying Iran has deprived Iraqi people of the water.

Masjedi also praised the high-level of cooperation between Iran and Iraq and said the cooperation can be expanded due to the available capacities.

He also referred to millions of Iranian pilgrims who annually flock to Iraq to pay tribute to Shiite Imams buried in Iraq and said there is no similar case across the world.

He further noted that Iran and Iraq have established close economic and cultural relations with each other.

“To this end, Iran has exported a huge amount of gas to Iraq’s power plants and increased its annual trade volume with Iraq to $8m,” he added.

According to Masjedi, Iran and Iraq have various cultural commonalities including massive cultural and scientific cooperation.

During the meeting held on Monday, Iraqi elites and media representatives raised about 40 major issues in their questions about Iran and Iraq governments.

The two-hour meeting was organized by Iran’s cultural attaché in Iraq. It was the latest of a series of meetings aimed at exploring ways to expand relations between the two countries.
