Iran President to Leave Tehran for New York on Sunday

Hassan Rouhani

In his visit to the US, Rouhani will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and a number of other cabinet members.

Back on Wednesday, Mahmoud Vaezi, the Iranian president’s Chief of Staff, said President Rouhani’s trip to New York will be a short and busy one.

During his trip, the president will deliver a speech at the UN General Assembly, Vaezi said.

He added that on the sidelines of the General Assembly, Rouhani will also attend meetings with Iranian expatriates living in the US, Muslims and political elites as well as media men.

Rouhani will participate in discussions at the General Assembly session in New York, which runs from September 19 to 25.

The general debate would revolve around ‘Focusing on People: Striving for Peace and a Decent Life for All on a Sustainable Planet’.

British Priest Translates Renowned Muslim Book into English

British Christian Priest Translates Renowned Muslim Book into English

Mohammad Reza Fakhr Rouhani, a faculty member at Qom University, says a thin but very important collection was unveiled during the second International Congress of Ahl al-Bayt (AS) (Prophet Muhammad’s infallible family).

According to a Farsi report by the International Quran News Agency (IQNA), he said the book is a British priest’s translation of 169 sermons from Imam Ali (AS) selected from Ghurar al-Hikam wa Durar al-Kalim book.

“This book was translated [into English] by the priest at a time when there was no positive look at Islam in the church and among Christians, and the author himself did not have a positive look at it either. But the words of Imam are so great that he wrote an introduction to the translation and said that these sermons are more valuable than all human experiences throughout history,” Fakhr Rouhani pointed out.

This university professor stated that a new edition of the book will be unveiled along with an introduction written on it during the conference.

Fakhr Rouhani referred to the remarks made by Bishop Sarkisian at the congress of Imam Ali (AS), adding that he (Sarkisian) has wrote a master’s thesis on Imam Ali (AS) and a PhD dissertation on Imam Hussein (AS) and the topic he was going to talk about at the conference was Imam Ali’s social justice.

He also highlighted that they have talked with two Christian priests in Lebanon and Switzerland who had made good remarks on Imam Ali (AS), while some from various countries have sent papers in Arabic and English.

The Ghurar al-Hikam wa Durar al-Kalim (‎literally “Exalted Aphorisms and Pearls of Speech”) is the most comprehensive collection of short quotations and aphorisms by Ali ibn Abi Talib. It contains about 11,000 short sayings.

Kurdish Independence Referendum Plot by US, Israel: Iranian Cleric

Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami

“The independence referendum in the Kurdistan Region is an age-old dream cherished by the global arrogance (the US) to create another Israel in the region,” Ayatollah Khatami said, addressing a huge gathering of worshipers in Tehran on Friday.

However, they (the US and Israel) will never see their dreams come true, the cleric added.

The Zionist regime’s officials have openly supported the referendum, he said, adding that however, governments in Iran, Iraq, and Turkey have expressed their strong opposition to the referendum.

He further expressed the hope that the authorities in Kurdistan Region would come to their senses and give up the Israeli plot.

Officials in Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan region have said the northern territory would hold the independence referendum on September 25.

Masoud Barzani, the president of the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (KRG), announced the vote on June 7.

Earlier this month, Iraqi parliamentarians have rejected the legitimacy of the vote and the central government in Baghdad which is strongly opposed to this move has said it will do everything possible to keep the unity of the country intact.

Iraq’s neighbors, including Iran and Turkey, are also strongly opposed to such a move.

Iran to Export 30,000 Tonnes of Trout This Year: Official

Iran to Export 30,000 Tonnes of Trout This Year: Official

Head of Iran’s Fisheries Organization Hassan Salehi noted at a Resistance Economy conference in the city of Rasht in northern Iran that 10,000 tonnes of trout were exported to neighboring countries last year.

Speaking with a group of fish farmers, in particular those investing in cage fish farming, he said due to the existence of a competitive market, the produced trout should weigh more than one and a half to two kilos in order to be considered an export.

Referring to the efforts made to promote the fish farming method in cages, Salehi added, “Currently, there are more than 500 active cages with a capacity of producing 25 thousand tonnes of trout annually in the country, which will reach to more than 30 thousand tonnes in the near future.”

“During the first four months of the year, we had more than $412 million worth of aquaculture exports, which shows a 60% increase this year. Moreover, we saw a 30% drop in imports of fish species compared to the last year,” he added, according to a Farsi report by IRNA.

Salehi went on to say that last year in Gomishan County of northeastern Golestan Province, more than 10,000 tonnes of shrimp was produced using Caspian Sea water, and it will reach 15,000 this year.

Director General of Fisheries Department of Gilan Province Es’haq Sha’bani also noted in this conference that “with the measures taken, now the estimated capacity of the province’s fish production is 3,500 tonnes annually.”

Es’hagh Sha’bani called on the banks to cooperate in providing facilities for cage fish farmers and asked them to make available coastal lands to establish support bases.

Elsewhere in the gathering, it was also announced that an annual environmental permit to produce 12,800 tonnes of cage fish has been issued in the province of Gilan, and it would be announced shortly.

Iranian MPs Blast Muslim Countries’ Silence on Violence against Rohingyas

Myanmar

Senior member of the Parliament’s Foreign Policy Commission Hossein Naqavi Hosseini says the fact that the Myanmar government is behind all crimes committed against the Rohingya shows the crackdown goes beyond religious differences only.

“All the crimes against Muslims in Myanmar were committed at the hands of the country’s army troops and police, whose role in the violence is crystal clear, so one cannot say the crackdown was simply due to religious differences between Muslims and Buddhists.”

According to a Farsi report by ICANA, he held the Myanmar government responsible for the lives and property of Rohingya Muslims, saying one should not remain tight-lipped in the face of such crimes.

Naqavi Hosseini urged Muslims states, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the UN not to simply condemn the atrocities against Muslims, asking them to take practical steps as well.

He said the way to deal with the Myanmar government is to use economic and political pressure.

Qassem Jassemi, another MP, also took a swipe at international organizations and so-called advocates of human rights for remaining silent vis-à-vis the atrocities committed against the Rohingya.

He said international organizations and human rights institutions raise a hue and cry through international media for the most trivial matters, but have only settled for the very basic actions when it comes to the ruthless massacre o Rohingya Muslims.

He also slammed Islamic countries for remaining silent against the violence.

“Islamic states’ inaction on the Myanmar government’s brutal behaviour toward Muslims is unacceptable, and it is necessary that this government be put under pressure in any way possible, be it political pressure or economic pressure or the like, to make it stop its actions against Muslims,” Jasemi stressed.

Abolfazl Mousavi Boyuki was another lawmaker who called for action against the persecution of Rohingya Muslims.

He said the killing of Muslims is a genocide strategy on the hegemonic powers’ agenda.

The MP said enemies of Islam target Muslims under the pretext of religion, but it fact they are following a political agenda.

“International organizations issue statements for any legal action in the trial of a criminal , but they have remained silent vis-à-vis the violence against Muslims in Myanmar because supporting Muslims is not on their agenda,” said Mousavi Boyuki.

He said Iran cannot help Muslims in Myanmar by sending in military groups, but it should go into action through political and economic ways.

“It is required that Muslim countries work in tandem to exert economic pressure such as sanctions on Myanmar and reduce the level of their political and diplomatic relations with the country,” the legislator noted.

Iran Has Infiltrated into US Command Centres: IRGC General

“We have documents which, if published, the Americans’ [activities] will be revealed and they will be disgraced more than ever before,” said Brigadier General Amir-Ali Hajizadeh, the commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force, in a Farsi interview with state TV.

“We have documents which show the Americans’ behaviour in Iraq and Syria, and we know what they did there, and which locations they targeted and how they supported the ISIS terror group.

“All these documents are available, and if one day we are permitted to publish them, it will be a big disgrace for the Americans,” said the top commander.

He said Iran’s enemies seek to target and attack the IRGC and consider it their red line, which “shows the IRGC is powerful.”

The top commander said some of the IRGC’s capabilities are not publicized in media due to some reasons, adding, “The enemies know that they cannot joke with the IRGC because the IRGC is the number-one power in the region.”

The top general underlined the US created the ISIS and has managed it for years, adding, “They (the Americans) had a hefty scheme for the region, but the IRGC made all their plots fail.”

Kuku Sib Zamini; A Simple, Popular Iranian Dish

Kuku Sib Zamini; A Simple, Popular Iranian Dish

Here is the recipe for Kuku sib-zamini:

Ingredients

1 Kilogram of Potatoes

4 or 5 Eggs

2 Teaspoons of Baking Powder

Salt & Pepper: As much as needed

Instructions:

Cook potatoes in boiling water, remove the skins, and grate them. Then break the eggs in a separate bowl and beat them perfectly. Add salt, pepper and baking powder (or if you prefer Saffron) to the eggs. Then add the potatoes to the mixture and stir gently to combine.

You can fry the mixture in two ways:

Place a large non-stick frying pan on medium-high heat and add a few tablespoons of oil for shallow frying. In the first method, you can pour all the mixture into the pan and smooth it with the back of the spoon until all the surface of Kuku becomes smooth. Put the cap of the pan and lower the heat until you could easily cut the sautéed mixture.

First, cut the Kuku into four parts and then fry the other sides. You can cut each slice into two to get eight pieces of Kuku. Serve them in a round dish and design it with tomato slices.

In the second method, you sauté tablespoons of the mixture in the oil. Each time you drop the tablespoons of the mixture into the frying pan, smooth and form it. When one side is fried, you must sauté the other side.

Two sweet and salty flavors are chosen for this meal. Some people add nectar to the cooked potatoes and some others add salt to the mixture made from raw potatoes.

People from the central province of Isfahan call it Ghandi Kuku (Sugar Kuku) and pour sap on it.

To prepare and cook this meal, you should consider the following:

– If you cook Kuku with raw potatoes, you can add cooked chicken or scented vegetables, but adding these ingredients to a kuku with cooked potatoes is not recommended.

– The good thickness recommended for this Kuku is between 0.5 and 2 centimetres, which you can change according to the taste. Do not forget that excessive thickness prevents Kuku from being cooked well and excessive thinness makes it dry and even leads to being burned.

– Apart from the mint or coriander in the recipe, you can use fresh mint alone or fresh basil and even dry thyme. In this way, Kuku’s taste will be unique.

– The best spice you should not forget about is saffron for sweet Kukus and turmeric next to saffron for salty Kukus.

Iran to Surpass US to Become World’s Top Pistachio Producer Again

General Manager of the Department of Winter and Dry Fruits of Iran’s Agriculture Ministry, Shokrollah Hajivand says Iran produced 304,000 tonnes of pistachio in the past year and the figure is expected to increase by about 2 percent this year.

“According to a study, the pistachio production in the United States is estimated at 270,000 tonnes (in 2017), and Iran is predicted to produce 310,000 tonnes to stand first in production of pistachio once again.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, Hajivand referred to the export amount of this product saying that the volume of pistachio export in the four months leading to July 2017 is 16,660 tonnes, and since pistachio harvest has begun, exports will increase in the coming months.

“Last year, the export of pistachio stood at 138,000 tonnes, worth $1,271 million. But during the first four months of this year, there was a 40 percent decrease in the value of exports due to the lack of pistachio supply,” Hajivand concluded.
