Italy Hosts Seminar on Iranian Handicrafts

Handicraft

The seminar, which was attended by a number of Iranian and Italian officials and artists including the deputy head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHTO), was opened with a message by Iranian Vice-President and ICHTO Chief Ali-Asghar Mounesan.

In his message to the seminar, Mounesan said the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been seeking to establish bilateral cultural ties with other countries with the aim of promoting culture and knowledge across the world.

“With its thousand-year history, Iran is viewed as one of the pioneering countries in cultural and art fields across the globe. The country has already created over 358,000 jobs in handicrafts industry by offering over 250 types of handicrafts,” the message added.

handicraftsMounesan went on to say today the cultural and traditional capitals of each country play a leading role in its sustainable development. “Undoubtedly, cultural and art exchanges within seminars like this can significantly contribute to the bilateral relations between Iran and Italy.”

He also invited artists from Italy and other countries taking part in the seminar to visit Iranian historical cities like Isfahan, Shiraz and Yazd and participate in Tehran’s International Handicraft Exhibition which is held annually with the presence of over 400 artists from Iran and abroad.

The Iranian official then outlined the events to be held in future with the aim of expanding bilateral relations between Iran and Italy in cultural and art fields.

During the seminar, the participants got familiar with Iran’s capacities in the field of handicrafts as well as parts of its tourist attractions and cultural heritage, a Farsi report by the Public Relations Department of ICHTO said on Saturday.

In an address to the seminar, ICHTO Deputy Head Bahman Namvar Motlaq elaborated on the Iranian artists and craftsmen’s capacities.

For his part, former Italian ambassador to Iran took the podium and called for expansion of bilateral ties between Iran and Italy in art fields.

During the seminar, woodcarving, needlework, leatherwork productions along with glassware, traditional jewelleries, miniatures, ceramics, potteries, precious stones and semi-precious gemstone plus various types of Persian rugs were put on display.

Muslims Should Be Grateful to Trump!

Shariat madariHossein Shariatmadari, the managing editor conservative Iranian newspaper Kayhan, has in an editorial argued that Donald Trump’s moves can offer services to the Muslims.

Here are highlights of his editorial published on Saturday:

If you are surprised by the headline of the current piece, you are right, because no one likes to see the bloodthirsty aggressors live on, let alone being grateful to them!

The story of Trump however, is of a different kind. Based on what we are witnessing, he is a lunatic, who has unknowingly offered many services to the Muslim world, especially to the resistance axis with his stupid actions.

Trump’s most recent act was to recognize Jerusalem al-Quds as the capital of the Israeli regime. Therefore, as Imam Sajjad (AS) believed that one must be grateful for having a fool enemy, we should pray that he may remain in office as the foolish president of the United States!

A quick look at US President’s moves clearly shows that although he has created some inevitable problems for the Muslim world and nations, he has at the same time showcased the failures of the United States and its allies as well. Showing the real face of the United States, proving the unreliability of Washington, exposing behind-the-curtain role of some Arab and so-called Muslim countries such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Jordan, and Palestinian National Authority (Mahmoud Abbas), encouraging Al Saud to continue the war in Yemen that has accelerated the fall of this home of betrayal and crime in the Muslim world, violating the nuclear deal and imposing more sanctions on Iran that has worried those Iranians who believe in the US, supporting the ISIS terrorists, which was aimed at creating divisions in the Muslim world, but in the end led to the unification of most Muslim nations and religions, and the plot to hold Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri hostage in Saudi Arabia that brought disgrace for its perpetrators are some examples of such moves. These are just a few instances of Trump’s failures.

Each of the aforementioned moves was seen as a devastating blow to the Muslim nations at the beginning, but since his calculations were not rational, and he did not pay attention to the realities of the Muslim world, especially the authority of the resistance movement, all of them finally backfired. However, the recent decision by Trump to introduce Jerusalem al-Quds as the capital of the Israeli regime is a separate story that needs to be explained in details.

Over the past few years, the US and its European and regional allies have done a lot to give a good picture of the Israeli regime presenting it as a regime that has no dangers. By employing the puppet leaders of some Arab countries, they were somehow successful in doing this, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently said “we are having friendly ties with most Arab countries, and we will soon be witnessing the recognition of Israel by these countries!”

Netanyahu not only rejected the occupying regime’s support for ISIS, but also was boasting of it. He took the wounded terrorists to Tel Aviv and Haifa hospitals for treatment and took pictures with them to publish. To understand the significance of this, we must note that the ISIS terrorists were killing not only Shiites, but also committed brutal crimes against Sunni Muslims. It is noteworthy that the number of Sunni victims was even more than Shiites. The followers of other religions, including Christians, were also among those massacred.

So what caused Netanyahu to openly support ISIS terrorists undoubtedly was his assurance that the Israeli regime’s danger has been obliterated among Muslim nations.

Trump’s dumb act led to the failure of this sinister plan, and as we have seen, the issue of Palestine, which was almost forgotten among Muslim nations, once again came to fore and turned into the main issue of the Muslim world. Now, as Muslim nations all over the world have shown anger at this child-killing regime, even some compromising parties emphasize the necessity of annihilation of this fake regime! So, can’t we say that Donald Trump unknowingly offered a service to the Muslim world by his recent move?!

US president’s recognition of Jerusalem al-Quds also revealed the real face of some compromising leaders of Arab states. For example, even Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was shocked by the rage of the Muslim world and was forced to condemn Trump’s move! This comes as, according to Yedioth Ahronoth, Bin Salman had been informed about Trump’s decision two weeks earlier and pledged to cooperate with him.

Abdel Bari Atwan, the editor-in-chief of Rai al-Youm says, “I really do not understand the fear of the Arab states regarding Trump’s move, as it was not something unexpected. Before announcing his decision, Trump had contacted four Arab leaders including Saudi King, President of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, King Abdullah II of Jordan, and the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas to tell them he would relocate the capital of the Zionist regime to Jerusalem al-Quds.”

Abdel Bari Atwan believes that Arab leaders’ condemnation of the move roots in fears raised by witnessing the rage of Muslim world. He says Trump’s act is to the benefit of Muslim nations, noting that, “I swear to God, I wish Trump would not overturn his decision. We need this shock, we need to see the disbelief in some conspiring Arab figures.”

This is another achievement for the Muslim world gained thanks to Trump’s stupidity, and according to Atwan, we should be grateful to him!

When Yasser Arafat was invited to the UN General Assembly in the mid-1970s, with one hand he was carrying an olive branch as a symbol of peace, and with the other hand he was carrying a gun as a symbol of resistance. An American senator said when I saw the olive branch in Abu Ammar’s hands I realized there is no bullet in his gun! He was right. Unknowingly, he admitted the unreliability of the United States and the uselessness of negotiating with the Great Satan.

Trump’s move proved that there is no use in holding negotiations with the US, and showed that those Palestinians, who for the past seventy years hoped to get back their occupied territories through negotiations, were heading the wrong way.

This is another great gain that Trump’s stupidity achieved for the Muslim world, and we must pray he may remain in office to show some other foolish acts.

Trump’s Decision Aimed at Legitimizing Palestine Occupation: Iran

“Occupation of the Palestinian land lies at the root of all crises in our region and any action to deny the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including with regard to the holy city of al-Quds and particularly al-Aqsa Mosque, will only result in more bloodshed and rage,” Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Gholamali Khoshroo said in an address to a United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York on Friday.

He added that bids aimed at legitimizing the Israeli occupation in the Middle East region by rejecting the historical realities would “gravely” undermine peace.

Iran strongly condemns the US recognition of Jerusalem al-Quds as the Israeli regime’s capital and the plan to transfer the US embassy to this holy city, he said.

The Iranian envoy emphasized that the “unilateral” act constitutes a “grave violation of international law,” as any territorial acquisition resulting from the use of force is illegal.

“The US action is not only illegal but also indicates how hypocritical its policy is with regard to the peace and stability in the Middle East,” Khoshroo said.

He added that the international community holds the US and the Israeli regime responsible for “all dangerous consequences of this reckless and illegal act.”

“Throughout history, occupation and peace have never gone hand in hand. The case at hand is no exception, and there can be no peace and justice as long as the occupation of the Palestinian land continues,” he pointed out.

The US president on Wednesday defied global warnings and said Washington formally recognizes Jerusalem al-Quds as the “capital” of Israel, and will begin the process of moving its embassy to the occupied city, breaking with decades of American policy despite widespread international opposition.

The Iranian Army on Friday denounced the recent “foolish” US move and said the United States and Israel are responsible for escalating tensions in the Middle East.

“The foolish and fresh move by the White House leaders to officially recognize Jerusalem al-Quds as the capital of the fake Zionist regime [of Israel] is a new plot to violate the rights of the Muslim Palestinian people,” the Iranian Army said in a statement.

Large groups of Iranians in the capital Tehran and other cities staged massive rallies after Friday prayers to protest against Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel’s “capital.”

Exhibition of India’s Historic Works Underway in Tehran

Exhibition of India’s Historic Works Underway in TehranThe exhibition opened on Wednesday, December 6, in a ceremony attended by officials from Iran and 20 other countries.

Seyyed Mohammad Beheshti, the head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage Research Centre, said during the inauguration ceremony that “the cultural realms of Iran and India are geographically adjacent; therefore, finding cultural similarities between these two countries is not a hard job.”

“Since the time that humans lived in each of these two lands, their territories have been linked to each other,” he noted, according to a Farsi report by the Miras-e Arya news agency.

“Our country is adjacent to other cultures, and we have long-standing cultural relations with our neighbours. The difference between Iran-India ties in comparison with other neighbours is in the quality of the relations,” he added.

Exhibition of India’s Historic Works Underway in TehranBeheshti also noted that there are many allusions to India in Persian literature.

Meanwhile, Masoud Nosrati, the manager of Golestan Palace, noted that it is the first time the Palace has selected a number of magnificent Qajar-era Indian handicrafts from its own treasure trove.”

“By examining the relations between Iran and India, one can easily understand that the two nations have lots of cultural commonalities … in arts, architecture, mysticism, literature and music.”

In an address to the ceremony, India’s ambassador to Iran, Saurabh Kumar, stressed that India’s relations with Iran has a very deep historic background.

“I am doing my best to travel to various cities of Iran. The more I travel, the more I understand the depth of the cultural links between the two countries,” noted Kumar.

He also said that New Delhi is ready to cooperate with Tehran in introducing the cultural heritage of the two countries, and he will do his best to widen the cultural relations between Iran and India.

The exhibit that showcases Indian jewelries, furniture, and manuscripts will wrap up on December 21.

MBC Female Presenter Fired after Criticizing Saudi King

In a post on her Twitter account, renowned MBC presenter Ola Al-Fares implied the US president’s decision to recognize Jerusalem al-Quds as the capital of Israel was made following his latest visits to the region, particularly Saudi Arabia.

“Trump chose a specific time to announce his decision to recognize Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel’s capital. He made the decision following his visits to the regional countries during which he concluded the Arab leaders would first condemn but then would praise his decision over Jerusalem al-Quds,” a Farsi report by Al-Alam News Network said on Saturday.

The tweet has sparked a huge wave of protests from Saudi Arabian social media users. The users took the tweet as a grave insult to Saudi Arabia and a move to ridicule the Saudi Arabian King’s stance towards Jerusalem al-Quds.

Saudi Arabian media said the female TV presenter has been fired over her tweet.

Back on Wednesday, US President Trump defied all calls by the US allies including European states and officially recognized Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel’s capital.

The move has sparked since then huge protests across the world with tens of thousands of people condemning the recognition.

Meanwhile, several members of the UN Security Council expressed their opposition to the US recognition of Jerusalem al-Quds. In a statement, Britain, France, Germany, Sweden and Italy said the US decision would not help bring peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians.

UK Foreign Secretary in Tehran for High-Level Talks

Johnson landed in Tehran after a short stay in the Omani capital of Muscat, where he held talks with Sultan Qaboos and his counterpart Yusuf bin Alawi.

Before leaving London for the Middle East, Johnson described Iran as “a significant country in a strategically important, but volatile and unstable, region which matters to the UK’s security and prosperity.”

“My first visit is an opportunity to hold further discussions on a series of crucial issues, including how we can find a political solution to the devastating conflict in Yemen and secure greater humanitarian access to ease the immense suffering there,” he noted, according to The Telegraph.

“I will also underline the UK’s continued support for the nuclear deal while making clear our concerns about some of Iran’s activity in the region.”

“While our relationship with Iran has improved significantly since 2011, it is not straightforward and on many issues we will not agree. But I am clear that dialogue is the key to managing our differences and, where possible, making progress on issues that really matter, even under difficult conditions. I look forward to a constructive visit.”

Johnson’s trip to Tehran is only the third by a UK Foreign Secretary since 2003 and comes at a time of tension in the Middle East over Donald Trump’s announcement that he is recognising Jerusalem al-Quds as the capital of the Israeli regime.

In wide-ranging talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Johnson will seek to shore up bilateral relations and discuss the 2015 nuclear deal.

Iran is also likely to raise the issue of a £400 million debt, dating back to an abortive order for tanks by the pre-Revolution regime in 1979, which remains unpaid despite a court ruling against the UK.

The cash has already been deposited in a court for payment, and it is understood that work is underway to find a sanctions-compliant method for handing it over.

Huge Supply of Drugs Seized near Iran-Turkey Border

The gang sought to transit heroin from Iran to Turkey and then to Europe by hiding the drugs inside a luxury car.

“The detection dogs used by the officers managed to detect 74 kilograms of heroin from inside a sedan car,” a Farsi report by Fars News Agency said.

This amount of heroin was skillfully placed on the floor of the vehicle, but the drug traffickers’ trick was detected by the officers with the help of sniffer dogs.

Huge Supply of Drugs Seized near Iran-Turkey BorderThe World Customs Organization in its October ranking has examined the performance of customs worldwide in the first nine months of 2017 and placed Iran at the top of the list of countries combatting drugs and second in fighting smuggled goods.

The World Customs Organization also named an online customs services plan introduced within the framework of a comprehensive Customs portal in Iran as a top model to its members globally.

Iran has long borders with hotbeds of drugs production and has dedicated many lives to fight smuggling rings.

Pakistan and Afghanistan are two origins of producing and trafficking various types of narcotic in the region.
