Iranian People Mark Day of Fight against Global Arrogance

13 Aban

Iranian people, mostly school and university students, staged demonstrations on Saturday morning all over the country to express their opposition to the arrogant policies and attitudes of the enemies, particularly the US.

The protesters slammed the US government as the nation’s main enemy, condemning the US president’s rhetoric against Iran and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).
In a final declaration after holding mass rallies in Iran’s capital of Tehran and other cities on Saturday, demonstrators reaffirmed commitment to countering the hostile plots, and described the US as Iran’s enemy number one.
They also condemned Trump’s offensive comments about Iran and his deliberate attempt to distort the true name of the Persian Gulf.
The statement also hailed the IRGC as a reliable protector against infiltration by the enemies and a thorn in the side of the US and the Zionist regime of Israel.
Ralliers have also expressed solidarity with the oppressed people in Palestine, Bahrain, Yemen, Syria, Myanmar and the Shiite Muslim of Saudi Arabia, voicing support for their fight against tyranny.

The demonstrations are held on the anniversary of the seizure of the US embassy in Tehran, which was later known as the ‘den of espionage’.

13 Aban-2On November 4, 1979, and in less than a year after the victory of the Islamic Revolution that toppled a US-backed monarchy, Iranian university students who called themselves “students following the line of (the late) Imam (Khomeini)” seized the US embassy, which had become a centre of espionage and planning to overthrow the newly established Islamic system in Iran.

The students who seized the embassy later published documents proving that the compound was indeed engaged in plans and measures to overthrow the Islamic republic.

Every year on the 13th day of the Iranian month of Aban (which this year falls on November 4), the Iranian nation, particularly the students, hold rallies across the country to mark the day.

In the capital city of Tehran, the rallies to mark the anniversary of the landmark move are held at the venue of the former US embassy.

Formation of Coalition Gov’t, Success for Lebanese People: Iran’s Velayati

Speaking after a Friday meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri in Beirut, Ali Akbar Velayati said, “The victory of the resistance axis is a victory for all of us, and we praise the victories that have been made in Lebanon against the terrorist groups recently.”

He went on to say that Iran welcomes the stability of Lebanon and its government and supports its independence.

“The Lebanese people are a great nation in the region. We always wish success for Lebanon and undoubtedly the formation of a coalition government is a success for the Lebanese people,” he noted.

Velayati stressed that Lebanon’s victory against terrorism is a victory for all the region, adding that the terrorists, extremists and the Takfiri movements in the region are supported by the Zionists and some regional countries that do not want to see the regional countries’ stability, security, independence and unity.

“Lebanon and Iran’s relations have always been very good and constantly growing, and the Islamic Republic of Iran supports the stability of Lebanon.”

For his part, the Lebanese PM Hariri offered a warm welcome to the adviser to Leader of the Islamic Revolution saying that “we are faced with serious challenges from the terrorists, extremists and the Takfiri currents. We must do our best to stand against them to achieve victory.”

Hariri also referred to the developments in Lebanon and added “despite some differences, stability and security has been provided in Lebanon, and all the groups are collaborating to promote it.”

Following this visit, the two sides held a separate meeting to discuss regional and international developments.

Velayati travelled to Lebanon on Thursday to attend the Union of Resistance Ulema Summit in which a group of prominent Muslim scholars and figures participated.

Meeting with the Secretary General of Lebanon’s Resistance Movement Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, attending the Summit of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) World Assembly and meeting with other high-ranking Lebanese authorities have been among other programs of Velayati.

Iran-Russia Trade Volume Grows by 70 Percent

Iran-Russia Trade Volume Grows by 70 Percent

“Fortunately, the economic ties between Iran and Russia have been expanding steadily over the past year so much si that we had a 70-percent growth in our trade volume,” Karbasian was quoted as saying by the Azad News Agency (ANA) following his meeting with Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak.

He also referred to the trilateral meeting in Tehran between Iranian, Russian and Azerbaijani leaders as well as the upcoming meeting of Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission and said his meeting with the Russian official was part of preparatory arrangements for the mentioned meetings.

“The meeting was a good opportunity to have a review of our bilateral relations,” he said, adding there are appropriate grounds for further cooperation between Iran and Russia in such fields as economic investments, launching Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, Bandar Abbas 1400MW Water Treatment Plant and undertaking joint sea and rail transportation projects, agricultural projects and establishing oil and gas cooperation.

The minister also said negotiations over Iran’s cooperation with the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union, its banking problems and customs cooperation with Russia to establish a green channel for the Iranian tradesmen are at their final stages and added the expansion of ties between Tehran and Moscow will have great achievements.

For his part, the Russian minister said the election of Karbasian as the Iranian head of the Joint Iran-Russia Economic Commission will pave the way for further cooperation between the two sides.

“Today, we held in-depth talks on ways to increase bilateral relations in economic field and adopted appropriate decisions for future projects,” he noted.

‘Saudi Arabia, Allies Seeking to Form Arab NATO to Counter Iran’

‘Saudi Arabia, Allies Seeking to Form Arab NATO to Counter Iran’

Iranian MP Seyyed Mohammad-Javad Abtahi says the goal of this meeting was to form an Arab NATO, but it should be noted that the objectives of such coalitions have never been accomplished.

He further referred to the coalition’s statement that accused Iran of supporting the Houthis in Yemen and sending arms to the country stressing that the Arab Coalition Summit was held to pursue the goals of the US in the region.

The representative of Khomeyni-Shahr of the central Isfahan Province in the Iranian parliament went on to say that the President of the United States pursued the formation of the Arab NATO during his visit to Saudi Arabia.

“So there’s no doubt that a coalition is going to be formed to wage a new proxy war in the region,” said Abtahi.

He also mentioned that Riyadh has always pursued formation of such coalitions for many years, but fortunately such objectives have never been achieved.

The neighbouring Muslim countries like Oman, Pakistan, etc., are aware of the position of the Islamic Republic in the region and the world, and have explicitly declared in their positions that they do not want to be part of the US policies.
“Saudi Arabia, for no reason, has committed war crimes in Yemen and therefore cannot accuse our country of sending weapons to Yemen.”

Abtahi also pointed out that Saudi Arabia and some other countries are afraid of the resistance of the nations, or in other words, are afraid of the Islamic awakening, so with such summits and coalitions, they seek to prevent its achievement.

Trump’s Gift to Iran’s Conservatives: Rouhani Moving Away from Reformism

If one wants to assess the consequences of the US government’s post-JCPOA actions in Iran’s political arena and also see the reflection of Trump’s moves which have made the future of the nuclear deal unclear, it is just enough to read a Tuesday article published by Sobh-e Now newspaper, which is affiliated with Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, the former conservative mayor of Tehran and President Hassan Rouhani’s contender in 2017 Presidential Election.

Here is the headline of this short piece: “Revolutionary Welcome to the President”. It could easily be published with this headline as well: “Trump’s Gift to Iranian Revolutionaries; Rouhani’s Shift from Reformist Front”.

Sobh-e Now writes in a Farsi report that all reformist papers censored the president’s important Sunday statements on calling negotiations with the US a “ridiculous and crazy act”.

“The reformist front apparently did not expect their political ally to change his approach so soon. Contrary to their past practice and expectations, the reformist front did not expect Rouhani to admit mistakes and criticize the most important political issue of Iran’s Establishment, i.e. negotiations and relations with the United States,” reads the article.

The author goes on to say that Rouhani, who in the run-up to the 2013 presidential election believed negotiating with the US, as the world’s chief, is much easier than holding talks with Europe, during the 2017 presidential election promised to lift other sanctions, just as he had removed nuclear sanctions against the nation over the past four years. With this approach, Rouhani repeatedly talked about the second and third deal.

“Now, however, those optimisms, with a 180-degree turn, have turned into expressing that negotiating with the US is “the most ridiculous thing in the history”. This stance of Rouhani, although not pleasing to the reformists, is the most logical and principled comment which can be made about the age-old enemy of Iran. The Iranian people and the Islamic Establishment will definitely welcome this stance.”

The article adds that in the face of the cold reaction of the reformists, this is the duty of the revolutionary movement to come to the fore and help President Rouhani to reform his past stances.

“Of course, two things have to be taken into consideration; first, the president and his moderate companions must not look differently at Trump and Obama’s America. Undoubtedly, both of them pursue the same policy, one with a cast-iron hand and the other with a velvet glove on the cast-iron hand. Second, now that Rouhani has rightly abandoned his hope in the United States, he should not trust Washington’s European allies either.Because as he (Rouhani) mentioned, they are the same permission-needed parties when it comes to the United States.”

Sobh-e Now newspaper; however, advises Rouhani that this does not mean the diplomatic engagement must be abandoned.

“The best policy for the 12th administration is to do its best to boost domestic economy based on internal capacities and tread this path practically and seriously,” concludes the piece.

Trump Reveals US Hostility towards Iranian Nation: Leader

“They (the Americans) are not just hostile towards me or the Islamic Republic’s government; they are rather the enemy of the Iranian nation as it is standing [against them],” the Leader noted on Thursday.

He made the remarks in a meeting with a large group of young Iranians ahead of the November 4 ceremonies marking National Day of Fight against Global Arrogance.

“You heard the US president recently said the Iranian nation is a terrorist one. Look how foolish such view is. He didn’t say the Iranian leader or government is a terrorist; he said the Iranian nation i terrorist. Isn’t this hostility?”
Ayatollah Khamenei also noted that another US president, a few years earlier, had declared that the Iranian nation must be eradicated.
“That’s foolish! Can anyone root out such a nation with such historical background and huge cultural tree?” the Leader asked.
He said the US wants a yes-man to be in power in Iran. “Someone like the former Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi,” the Leader added.
“The US did not even show mercy towards those who pinned their hopes on it and asked for its help; people like [ex-PM] Mohammad Mosaddeq who asked for America’s help and trusted them in order to stand against Britain, but then was overthrown by the Americans in the 1953 coup.”
