Mastermind of Ahvaz Attack Killed in Iraq by Resistance Forces: Iran

The IRGC public relations department announced in a statement released on Tuesday evening that the high-profile militant, better known by the nom de guerre Abu Dhoha, was killed along with four assistants in an ambush carried out by the Iraqi pro-government Popular Mobilization Units – commonly known by the Arabic word Hashd al-Sha’abi.

On October 1, the IRGC rained surface-to surface ballistic missiles on the positions of Daesh in eastern Syria, which along with the al-Ahwazia separatist group took responsibility for the September 22 terrorist attack in Ahvaz.

The IRGC announced in a statement that the missiles were launched at 2 am local time (2230 GMT September 31) from the western Iranian city of Kermanshah.

The statement added that drones bombarded Daesh positions after the missile strikes.

On September 22, four gunmen attacked a military parade in Ahvaz, killing at least 25 people and wounding 69 others. A four-year-old boy was among the fallen victims.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said the following day that the attack had been carried out by the same cowards funded by regimes in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

A number of countries denounced or offered condolences over the terrorist attack in Ahvaz.

“France deeply condemns Saturday terrorist attack in Ahvaz,” the French Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The statement also sympathized with victims of the attack, saying France is following up developments through its diplomatic mission in Tehran.

The Indonesian Foreign Ministry offered condolences over the deadly attack in a message of condolences.

“Indonesia expresses its deepest condolences and sympathy to the victims and their families.

“Indonesia condemns the terror attack in Ahvaz that resulted in deaths and injuries including children… the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran continues to closely follow the development,” the message read.

“Belarus is ready to stand by Iran to counter extremism and terrorism,” he said as he wished swift recovery for the injured and peace and calm for Iran.

EU’s Mechanisms for Trade with Iran to Be Finalised in Coming Days: Germany

Political director of German Foreign Office Antje Leendertse

The remarks were made by Director of the Political Directorate-general of Germany’s Federal Foreign Office Antje Leendertse in a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi in Tehran.

In the Wednesday meeting, the two sides discussed a range of bilateral and international issues, including the latest status of the implementation of the Iran nuclear deal.

They particularly talked about the efforts made to deal with the effects of US sanctions on Iran after its withdrawal from the 2015 deal known as JCPOA.

Leendertse and Araqchi also underlined the urgency of implementing these solutions, particularly the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), as soon as possible.

The German side stated that the European countries are aware of the importance and urgency of the matter, have been working intensively on various aspects in recent weeks, and are trying to finalise the mechanisms in the next few days in consultation with the Iranian side.

She also stressed that some parts of the mechanisms would become operational after taking priorities into consideration.

Araqchi, for his part, expressed Iran’s strong objection to the arrest of Assadollah Asadi, a diplomat at the Iranian embassy in Vienna, by the German police and his extradition to Belgium.

The Islamic Republic will follow up the issue through political and legal channels to take appropriate action, he said.

During the talks, the two sides also underlined the need for maintaining close consultations to address regional and international issues and resolve problems in bilateral relations and efforts to develop economic, commercial and banking ties.

Iran FM Calls Pakistani Counterpart to Discuss Abducted Border Guards

During the Wednesday phone conversation, Zarif stressed the need for strengthening the security of Iran-Pakistan borders based on previous agreements.

He urged the Pakistani government to take immediate and serious measures to ensure safety and health of the abductees.

Zarif also called for measures to identify and arrest those behind the inhumane terrorist attack and secure the release of the Iranian nations and their transfer to Iran.

Qureshi, in turn, condemned the inhumane move by the terrorist group and expressed deep regret over the incident.

“Pakistan will use all its capacities to take necessary measures to find and arrest the perpetrators and protect and release the Iranian guards,” he said.

“These terrorist groups are common enemies of the two governments and nations who seek to disrupt close and friendly relations between the two neighbours,” he said.

11 Iranian border guards were kidnapped by Pakistan-based terrorists in Mirjaveh region in Iran’s southeastern Sistan and Baluchistan province on Tuesday.

The Jaish al-Adl terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping.

Iran to Win Media Battle Waged by Adversaries: Leader

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei

Speaking in a Wednesday meeting with over 2,000 young Iranian elites in Tehran, the Leader said Iran’s adversaries have prioritized anti-Tehran propaganda to tarnish the country’s image across the world.

However, Ayatollah Khamenei said, despite intense efforts by hostile powers to deceive the world into believing the country does not enjoy favourable conditions, Iran’s overall conditions are good.

“There are currency fluctuations and livelihood problems, but generally the country’s real conditions… are the opposite of what hegemonic foreigners depict,” he said.

The Leader likened the media war against Iran to the Iraqi invasion of Iran in the 1980s, saying their outcome would be similar.

“Our publicity capabilities are limited, like the early [years] of the sacred defence [Iran-Iraq war], but we will undoubtedly win this war just like how we won that battle,” he said.

“Our elite youths must fulfill their duty to lead Iran to victory in this hard battle,” he said.

Officials Urged to Help Youths

Ayatollah Khamenei further said Iranian officials should play more attention to elites, preparing the ground for them to work to settle issues in various fields, particularly science.

“Exploiting the knowledge and capabilities of the youths leads to scientific progress and in turn [increased] dignity and power and decreased vulnerability,” he said.

The Leader said efforts by thousands of young elites to make scientific progress across the country make people hopeful about the future of the country.

For a brief review of Iran’s achievements in various fields of science and technology, check the book “Science and Technology in Iran: A Brief Review

“If we make scientific progress, the threats by … enemies won’t be permanent and will decrease,” he said.

The Leader said Iranian youths should also play a role in advancing global science.

“In recent centuries, our share in advancing borders of science has been negligible and we should use the capacities of young elites to develop global knowledge,” he said.

You can read a more detailed report of the meeting on the Leader’s official website.

Vinyl or Wood Windows: Which One to Choose?

Are you thinking of replacing your old windows to improve your home’s appearance and energy efficiency and you cannot decide between wood windows or vinyl windows? Don’t you know what to choose? Then this article will give you an insight into the pros and cons of wood versus vinyl replacement windows and help you decide which one to choose for your home.

Vinyl Windows

Vinyl windows are long lasting, have superior strong and are energy efficient and in spite of that, they are easy relatively easy to manufacture. This makes their prices affordable and yet competitive. They have insulating properties which makes it easy for them to keep your heat from escaping during the cold winter days but protects your home from the sweltering heat during the summer.

Vinyl windows are low maintenance windows. They do not require painting and repainting. A little soapy water is enough to keep the frames clean and neat all year round.

Another reason why you may want to choose vinyl windows is for functionality. Vinyl windows are easy to clean even from the 10th floor of a storey-building as you can simply swing them in to clean. The hassle of finding a long ladder, getting it in place, climbing it to the 5th floor with a bucket of water and a rag in hand is all over.

You may also want to have vinyl replacement windows because of how durable they are. Vinyl windows are strong enough to brave the weather. Whether in snow, rain or sunshine, vinyl windows will not chip, crack or peel.

Do not worry if you do not have a fortune to spend on your windows. Vinyl windows are an inexpensive and yet, do not compromise on quality. With all of these great qualities and features, vinyl windows are also affordable. This explains why they are a popular choice among home owners. If you are the type of person who loves to paint and repaint your windows, vinyl windows may not be for you.

Wood windows will best suit your personal preferences.

Wood windows

Wood windows from sustainable sources are environmentally friendly, good looking and thermally efficient. Wood by its very nature is a natural barrier to cold. With double or triple glazing, your windows can keep you warm during extremely cold winters.

In terms of maintenance, wood windows require greater upkeep than vinyl windows. This is because wood windows need to be protected from damages such as damp penetration, water retention and other elements and it also needs to be repainted or re-stained every few years to maintain its shine and glow and keep them looking attractive.

A key factor to consider before choosing wood windows is the pricing. Wood windows are generally slightly more expensive than other materials. However, they do offer a good value and are therefore worth considering.

Wooden frames look stunning on any property; this makes it an ideal choice for home owners looking for windows that can give a certain classic touch to their property.

It’s up to you now to make a choice. Will you choose wood or vinyl windows?

Iran Blasts US’ New Sanctions as Insult to Int’l Law

Reacting to an announcement by the US Treasury Department which adds new Iranian companies to the US sanctions list, Qassemi said this is part of the US’ psychological war against Iran that will lead to nowhere.

“Unlike the insincere claims by the US that it supports the Iranian people, such measures create obstacles for Iranians to benefit from foreign economic relations and trade ties with the international community and threaten their interests in a cruel and unfair manner,” he noted, stressing that the new bans are against international law and human rights.

“We believe this move is a clear insult to legal and international mechanisms, and results from selfishness and blind hatred of the US government towards the Iranian nation,” he said.

Pointing to a provisional order by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) which asks the US to refrain from taking measures that escalate tensions and make it more difficult to settle the Iran-US conflict, Qassemi said Washington is ridiculing international law.

“The behaviour and approach taken by the US government and its failure to comply with international legal mechanisms and principles not only threaten the Iranian people’s interests but also put global stability and security in danger,” he said.

“This is while the Islamic Republic and the international community are working with goodwill to prepare the grounds for Iran to reap the benefits of the 2015 nuclear deal following the US withdrawal,” he said.

On Tuesday, the US imposed financial sanctions against 22 corporations and banks, notably the Iran Tractor Manufacturing Co., the region’s largest tractor manufacturer, and Mobarakeh Steel Company, the region’s biggest steel producer.

The Treasury Department claimed the firms were involved in providing financial support to Iran’s Basij [voluntary] forces and are complicit in recruiting children as soldiers.

The sanctions came at a time when the US is working to choke off Iran’s economy.

The country is reinstating anti-Iran sanctions suspended under the accord and pushing the world to cut trade with Iran.

“Iran Border Guards Made Unconscious before Being Abducted”

“Enemies managed to make a number of local Basij [voluntary] forces and border guards unconscious and abduct them in a post in border areas [in Mirjaveh region],” Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari said on Wednesday.

The kidnapping occurred in Iran’s southeastern Sistan and Baluchistan province, which has for years been targeted by Pakistan-based terrorists who escape to Pakistan after conducting attacks.

General Jafari said terrorist groups had for several times attempted to conquer the base, but they failed to so do.

“They were certain they would not be able to achieve their aim as long as our fighters are alive and vigilant, so they tried to abduct these people after making them unconscious,” he said.

“This is no masterwork and God willing, [they] will receive our hard and crushing response,” he said.

General Jafari said enemies are investing huge sums of money to foment insecurity inside Iran, but Iranian forces are determined to counter and foil their plots.

Shortly after the attack, Iran urged the Pakistani officials to cooperate in securing freedom for the Iranian guards.
