Hashemi, a 59-year-old Muslim convert who has lived in Iran for years, had been arrested in St. Louis international airport on January 13, while in the US to see her family.
Sources at the US government announced days after her arrest that she had been detained as a “material witness” in a foreign registration case against Iran’s Press TV, the channel Hashemi was working for.
Hashemi’s family said in a statement on Wednesday that she will stay in Washington DC to protest against harassment of the black community.
“Marzieh Hashemi will be remaining in Washington DC for the protest on Friday and calls for all cities across the world to keep their protest,” the statement read.
“Just as America is aware of the harassment of the Black community by the police, America needs to start talking about the harassment of the Muslim community by the FBI,” her family said.
It is not just about Marzieh Hashemi, the statement added, it is about the fact that anyone, “Muslim or non-Muslim, can be imprisoned without charge in the United States.”

In response to a question by Russian Sputnik news agency on the Iranian casualties during the latest Israeli airstrikes on Syria, Qassemi underlined that any information on the issue would be released by the related military sources.
“I don’t have any accurate information on the issue,” he said.
The spokesman added Iranian military officials are likely to release a report on the latest military developments in Syria “but it goes without saying that Iran’s military presence in Syria is advisory and the Islamic Republic has no military basis in the Arab country.”

In an address to a gathering of officials and researchers from the Institute for Cognitive Science Studies (ICSS), held in Tehran on Wednesday, Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted the need for steady scientific progress in the country.
Hailing the good scientific growth in Iran over the past 20 years, the Leader underscored, “The pace of this scientific movement should not slacken, but it must be maintained and strengthened for the next twenty to thirty years, until we reach the pinnacle.”
Ayatollah Khamenei then warned that any nation lagging behind the rest of the world in the new sciences and technologies will be doomed to underdevelopment, humiliation and exploitation by foreign powers.
Iranian scientists, researchers, and scientific centers should trust Almighty God and make unwavering efforts day and night to maintain the country’s scientific growth, particularly in the field of modern sciences, the Leader stated.

Ayatollah Khamenei recommended the Iranian scientific community to not refrain from taking advantage of the capabilities of Western countries in making scientific advances, stressing that one should not be ashamed of learning from others, but should be ashamed of “remaining an apprentice forever.”
The Leader further advised Iranian scientists not to trust the Westerners’ plans and recommendations, saying, “Western countries, which have made the greatest advances in the modern sciences today, have committed the highest number of crimes against the nations throughout the history as well.”
Ayatollah Khamenei further called for the formulation of a local strategy for development of the cognitive sciences, saying this field of science, which deals with logic and reasoning, must pave the way for truer faith in God.
The Leader has on various occasion highlighted the role of science as a means of power and proprepharmacie.com, urging efforts to maintain the pace of scientific growth in Iran despite enemy efforts to undermine it.

Sharif Nezam-Mafi, the head of the Iran-Switzerland Chamber of Commerce, made the announcement in an interview with IRNA on Tuesday.
Nezam-Mafi said Iran is currently holding no financial assets in Europe, but it could use the channel if Iran’s oil customers, including China, India and South Korea, transfer its money to Europe.
The channel will be used for importing medicines to Iran, the official said, adding that it could be used for grain trade in the future.
Transferring money through the channel requires the US permit, he said, adding that the Swiss government has been negotiating with the US on the channel.
The official said the lender Banque de Commerce et de Placements (BCP) will most likely undertake to transfer money to Iran.
The EU is working to finalise the Special Purpose Vehicle, a separate mechanism to facilitate Iran’s foreign trade amid harsh US sanctions.
The mechanism was set to go operational by the end of 2018, but a number of factors including US pressure has apparently slowed down the process.
Iranian officials, who for months have been lamenting about Europe’s delay in fulfiling commitments, have been outspoken in criticising Europe in recent days.
Apparently fed up with years of Israeli impunity in the Syrian skies and regular strikes carried out in the vicinity of Damascus International Airport, Syria has threatened to retaliate in explicit terms.
“Isn’t time now for the UN Security Council to stop the Israeli repeated aggressions on the Syrian Arab Republic territories?” Syria’s permanent representative to the UN, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari wondered Tuesday.
Or is it required to draw the attention of the war-makers in this Council by exercising our legitimate right to defend ourself and respond to the Israeli aggression on Damascus International Civil Airport in the same way on Tel Aviv Airport?
The opening ceremony will be attended by Aliasghar Mounesan, the Iranian vice president and head of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organisation.

The event brings together 10,485 participants from 165 countries and will run until January 27.
Iran is among the exhibitors and will display 31 operator tours together with parts of the country’s potential, facilities and tourist as well as arts attractions.

Estimates show that Spain attracted some 82 million 600 thousand foreign tourists in 2018, up one percent year on year. Income from the tourist industry the same year hovered around € 90 billon, showing a 3-percent increase over the year before.

Ali Larijani made the statement in a visit to the parliament’s budget commission, who is busy finalising the upcoming Iranian year’s budget bill, Tasnim News Agency reported.
Larijani hailed a decision by the panel to predict Iran’s oil sale for the next year over 1.5 million barrels per day saying it was a rational and realistic decision.
Unlike predictions by some officials that Iran’s oil trade could be disrupted, Iran is now selling its oil and holds friendly relations with neighbours, he added.
“Americans wanted to cut down to zero Iran’s oil sale, but they were not successful and they were defeated,” he maintained.
The Trump administration, who pulled out from the 2015 nuclear deal early May, has been working in recent months to push Iran’s oil customers to stop their purchases.
However, the US administration was eventually forced to issue exemptions from oil sanctions for eight countries.
Washington is likely to extend the exemptions early May, when the current ones expire.
