Iran’s Deputy FM Meets Bulgarian Representative in EU Parliament

Speaking at the meeting, Araqchi said, “The JCPOA is in danger due to the US policies. We support the political position of Europe in supporting the JCPOA, but we need practical moves by Europe. According to the {international Atomic Energy] Agency, we have fulfiled all our obligations in this regard,” he added.

On the Warsaw conference, Araqchi said, “The US could not achieve its goals on Iran in the United Nations and it is trying to form a coalition against Iran outside the UN, and European countries should be vigilant on this.”

The Bulgarian side said, “The EU’s interests requires defending the nuclear deal. Iran is a stable country in the region and the support for the nuclear deal must be continued.”

Iran, Bulgaria Stress Expanding Political, Economic Ties

Speaking in the meeting, Araqchi gave the greetings of Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani to the Bulgarian parliament speaker, pointing to continuation of parliamentary consultations between the two countries and stressing the need for expanding political and economic cooperation between the two countries.

In turn, Deputy Speaker for Bulgarian Parliament Emil Hristov stressed the parliament’s full support for continuation of political and parliamentary consultations between the two countries and development of ties particularly in economic and trade sectors and support for JCPOA.

Hristov said the two governments should maximally use the existing economic capacities in the two countries’ relations, particularly in economic, transport and agricultural and other sectors, stressing the readiness of the Bulgarian parliament to facilitate cooperation between the two countries.

In the meeting, a number of Bulgarian lawmakers pointed to shared cultural and civilizational interests, highlighting their readiness to expand and deepen bilateral relations in all fields.

They described Tehran a haven of peace and security in the Middle East.

Iranian President Urges JCPOA Opponents to Blame US, Not Gov’t

He has urged the JCPOA opponents to support the government as the US deepens its standoff with Iran.

Speaking at Imam Khomeini (RA) Mausoleum after renewing allegiance to the ideals of the late founder of the Islamic Revolution, Rouhani asked the JCPOA critics to stop criticising his government who negotiated the pact with former US president Barack Obama.

“Today, most of our problems are caused by the US pressure and their allies in this country. One should not put the blame on the government or the great Islamic establishment instead of condemning the US,” IRNA reported him as saying.

Rouhani said his government should not be blamed for failing to predict the next US government would not be faithful to the pact.

The president said Iran was not the only victim of the US failure to abide by obligation, as the Donald Trump administration has shown false promises toward Europe, China and many other countries too.

“The mistakes of the US are not one or two. One should not say that the Iranian government engaged in negotiations with others, but failed to forecast that they would … break their promises after two years,” he said.

US Will Suffer Defeats

The president called for greater unity in the face of intensifying pressure against Iran, saying political forces inside Iran ought to gather deeper understanding the plots of enemies.

“This is the biggest economic pressure against the Iranian nation in the past 40 years after the revolution,” he said.

“All of us should be united in face of the animosity of the US, Zionists and reactionary [regimes] in the region. We can overcome all problems,” he added.

Rouhani said the US has suffered political, legal and psychological defeats in his standoff with Iran, and Washington would experience another defeat in the economic war soon.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was in the mausoleum to renew allegiance to the founder of the Islamic Revolution.

Since 2015, the festival has been held in two separate national and international categories.

The national section of the event is held in January and February, and the international section is held in April.

Iran Expresses Regret over Cuba Tornado

Expressing sympathies with the Cuban government, nation, and the afflicted families, Bahram Qassemi said Iran is ready to help the Cuban people.

A powerful tornado has ripped through the Cuban capital, Havana, leaving several people dead and scores injured.

The twister has immensely damaged buildings and vehicles. It has also brought strong winds exceeding more than 100 kilometres per hour, causing power cuts and plunging neighbourhoods into darkness.

‘Maduro Should Recognise Yellow Vests as Legitimate French Gov’t’

shariatmadari

Chief of the Iranian daily Kayhan censured the French government stance that has given the legal Venezuelan president eight days to hold elections.

“The Venezuelan president has been elected in a free election while the supporters of a coup in the country have staged a rebellion against the legitimate government by the support of the US and Europe,” he added.

He called on Maduro to officially recognise the yellow vests movement, which enjoys the support of the majority of the public, as the official French government and call for early election in France.

“Maduro should give the French diplomats eight days to leave the country. The diplomats should be replaced by representatives of the yellow vest movement who have the support of most of the French people,” he stressed.

“Maduro should emphasise that the French election must be held under the supervision of international observers because some French experts have questioned Macron’s election,” he underlined.

Shariatmadari referred to the remakes made by French political expert Thierry Meyssan that has revealed the connection between French President Emmanuel Macron and Henry Kravis, the boss of one of the world’s largest financial companies and one of “the main suppliers for Daesh” terror group.

‘US Exit of Nuclear Deal Makes Tehran Hesitant Regarding FATF’

FATF’s Blacklisting of Iran; Threat or Opportunity?

“The US exit from JCPOA has etched a bad experience in all Iranians’ minds, and they do not want to see this happen again by the approval of the FATF bills,” Ahmad Bakhshayesh told Iran Diplomacy.

The JCPOA is the official name of the nuclear deal Iran signed with world powers in 2015. The US pulled out the historic deal in May 2018, in spite of international organisations’ and allies’ attesting to Iran’s compliance to the deal.

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF), is a global body of wealthy nations meant to combat “money laundering” and “terrorism financing”.

Bakhshayesh said Iran should not approve all the bills set by the FATF at once.

“We should take a lesson from the JCPOA and not give many concessions to the West,” he noted.

The former lawmaker said Tehran should sign the FATF-related bills after the European countries, who have tried to persuade Iran to stay in the deal after the US withdrawal, first “implement their long-promised financial mechanism” to facilitate trade with Iran.

He said Iran should only join the FATF-related bills after it enjoys some benefits from the EU financial mechanism, known as the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV).

The SPV is a kind of clearing house that could be used to help match Iranian oil and gas exports against purchases of EU goods in an effective barter arrangement circumventing US sanctions, based on global use of the dollar for oil sales.

Iran Calls on Europe to Pay Blood Money for WWl Casualties

Iran Will Definitely Change Approach to UAE: Top General

Speaking on Tuesday, Major General Mohammad Baqeri said Europeans who accuse Iran of violating human rights have caused committed crimes in the country.

“Today, [they] shamelessly talk about human rights and believe Iran is violating human rights standards, this is while Europe shamefully caused Iranians that catastrophe and unfortunately we said nothing,” he underlined.

General Baqeri was referring to the widespread famine in Iran during World War I, caused by the British presence in Iran.

“Europeans should make apologies and pay real blood money,” he added.

Iran in recent months has been lamenting that Europeans are dragging their feet in honouring pledges to protect Iran’s economic interests under the JCPOA.

Following the US withdrawal from the nuclear accord early May, Iran said it will not remain in the nuclear accord unless other members to the pact compensate for the US pullout.

The EU has vowed to create a special finance mechanism to protect Iran’s foreign trade as the US is working to damage Iran’s economic relations.

The mechanism was to become operational by the end of last year, but the EU has failed to do that so far.
