Iranian President Goes to Turkey for Tripartite Summit

Rouhani has travelled to Ankara at the official invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to take part in the fifth round of trilateral summit of Iran, Turkey and Russia –the three guarantors of the Astana peace process for the resolution of Syria crisis.

In addition to the tripartite summit, the presidents of Iran, Russia and Turkey are going to hold negotiations on the promotion of mutual cooperation on various economic issues and the regional communications.

President Rouhani is also planned to hold separate meetings with Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin for talks on the major bilateral, regional and international issues.

Iran, Russia and Turkey are guarantor countries that brokered a ceasefire in Syria in December 2016, leading to the Astana talks, which are running parallel to the Geneva peace talks.

The leaders of the three countries regularly meet for an assessment of the process which focused on Idlib and adjacent areas – the last stronghold of the rebels – and a political process which awaits the formation of a constitutional committee.

Zarif Expresses Concern over Kashmir Situation

Zarif made the comments in a Sunday meeting with Indian Foreign Secretary Shri Vijay Gokhale, who is in Tehran to attend the 16th round of political consultations between the two countries’ foreign ministries.

Zarif also expressed hope that the situation would improve in the region.

Muslim-majority Kashmir, claimed by both India and Pakistan, has been in turmoil since India stripped its portion of the region of its autonomy and statehood on August 5, leading to clashes between security forces and residents and inflaming tension with Pakistan.

In the Sunday meeting, Zarif also elaborated on the growing trend of cooperation between the two countries in different fields and expressed interest in the operationalisation of cooperation capacities.

In turn, Gokhale outlined the goals of his visit to Tehran, and exchanged views with Zarif about bilateral relations, cooperation of the two countries in regional fields, and other issues of mutual interest.

Young Girls Embellish Zahedan by Painting Masterpieces on Walls

Zahra, Leili, Faezeh and Paniz are four young Zahedani girls who paint on the walls of their city. The four street artists, aged between 16 and 17, are looking at street as a school and have learned a lot from them.

“The Street Muralist” is the name of this group of four. Despite their relatively young age, they are the only women in the region who have independently engaged in street art so far. They all study graphic arts.

The following is excerpt of an interview conducted by Shahrvand newspaper with these four girls.

Work Begins at School

“Leili and I decided to do the job in collaboration with some of our colleagues at school, and luckily the team was formed,” says Zahra.

“Usually in this field of study, the school assigns a practical task. For example, students have to paint the school wall. After that, our teacher selected a number of us for the next projects. Then we decided to become an independent group ourselves. As we saw there was no effort to beautify the walls of Zahedan, we thought we should give it a chance. We’ve been working for 5 months now.”

According to Leili, it started with the four teenagers and then another one joined the group, but she couldn’t continue because of family opposition.

“It was unusual for a few girls to go on streets to paint. At the beginning someone was accompanying us, but as some people were bothering the group, every time a family member accompanied us. Of course, the situation is better now and we are going out on our own, but in general many families have problems with their girls painting the walls of the streets,” continues Zahra.

Noting that it not only didn’t keep them away from school, but also helped them grow, Leili said the way people deal with such issues teaches them a lot.

“One discovers things within herself. The street is exposed to the anger and happiness of the people. We learned how to control our emotions against these reactions. We learned many things from the streets that it was never possible at school.”

“Our job is not graffiti. Graffiti is a kind of protest art and has a different purpose,” says Leili about choosing the band’s name and type of work. “The Street Muralist” means street wall painting which is exactly what we do. That’s why we chose this name.”

World’s Famous Works on Zahedan Walls

About the choice of works drawn on the walls, Leili said that they mostly paint internationally well-known artworks.

“We use the world’s most famous works. In fact, our goal is to introduce these works to ordinary people. We want to eventually turn the city into an exhibition of famous works.”

Some of the walls painted by the group were demolished by street prowlers and those who opposed the girls’ work.

“Every job has its own difficulties,” Zahra explained, “We’ve expected these kinds of problems since the beginning. Nothing would happen if we keep silent and do nothing. So we must stop those who have ruined our work with our motivation. If they destroy them hundreds of times, we’ll draw them again.”

About the idea of portraying the limitations of women in their paintings, Zahra said they have no plan to do such a thing. “I think their power and beauty are far more beautiful than their limitations.”

Hassan Khalilabadi stated that the WTO has so far enlisted 158 countries and 500 tourism organisations.

Noting that 14 Iranian entities have joined the World Tourism Organisation so far, he said under the current circumstances that Iran is faced with maximum and unjust pressure of sanctions, tourism can be a job-creating industry.

“City Council’s Cultural Heritage Committee wants to turn Tehran into a tourist destination so that we can make the most of its potentialities,” Khalilabadi added.

Iran Congratulates Nicaragua on Independence Day

Iran Congratulates Nicaragua on Sandinista Revolution Anniversary

Rouhani offered his congratulations to the Nicaraguan nation and government in a message to his counterpart Daniel Ortega Saavedra.

“I would like to offer my sincerest congratulations to Your Excellency and the people of your country on the Independence Day of the Republic of Nicaragua,” he said in the letter.

He also expressed satisfaction over the recent “serious steps” taken by Tehran and Managua in promoting cooperation, and stressed the determination of the Iranian government and nation for development of friendly bonds and economic cooperation.

The Iranian president finally wished health and success for his counterpart and prosperity and felicity for the people of the Republic of Nicaragua.

The Captaincy General of Guatemala was dissolved in September 1821 with the Act of Independence of Central America, and Nicaragua soon became part of the First Mexican Empire.

After the monarchy of the First Mexican Empire was overthrown in 1823, Nicaragua joined the newly formed United Provinces of Central America, which was later renamed as the Federal Republic of Central America.

Nicaragua finally became an independent republic in 1838.

US ‘Maximum Pressure’ Policy Edging Towards ‘Maximum Lies’: Iran

Iran Vows to Take Action against US Move to End Nuclear Sanctions Waiver

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Mousavi said on Sunday “the Americans adopted the ‘maximum pressure’ policy against Iran, which, due to its failure, is leaning toward ‘maximum lies’.”

The spokesman made the comment in reaction to remarks by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Senator Lindsey Graham, who accused Iran of being responsible for the recent Yemeni drone attacks on Saudi oil facilities in the country’s east.

“It has been around five years that the Saudi-led coalition has kept the flames of war alive in the region by repeatedly launching aggression against Yemen and committing different types of war crimes, and the Yemenis have also shown that they are standing up to war and aggression,” Mousavi explained.

“Such accusations as well as blind and futile comments are pointless and not understandable within the framework of diplomacy,” he said.

“In international relations, even ‘animosity’ must have some minimum requirements and logical frameworks to be believable, but US official have ignored even these minimum requirements,” the spokesman added.

“Such comments and actions are more like planning by secret and intelligence services to tarnish the image of a country in order to set the scene for future moves,” he said.

The spokesman concluded by saying that the only way to establish tranquillity in the region and put an end to the useless crisis in Yemen is to halt attacks and aggression by the Saudi-led coalition, stop Western countries’ political and arms support for the aggressors, and make efforts to work out political solutions.

Yemeni drones hit two oil facilities of Saudi Arabia’s state oil giant Aramco in the country’s east on Saturday, causing huge fires before dawn.

A spokesman for Saudi Arabia’s interior ministry said in a statement that the attacks targeted two Aramco factories in Buqayq and Khurais.

The statement did not identify the source of the attacks, but Yemen’s Houthi movement later claimed responsibility in an announcement on Al Masirah TV.

The movement’s military spokesman General Yahya Sare’e said 10 drones were deployed against the sites in Buqayq and Khurais, and pledged to widen the range of attacks on Saudi Arabia.

“This was one of the largest operations which our forces have carried out deep inside Saudi Arabia. It came after careful intelligence and cooperation with honorable and free people inside Saudi Arabia,” he said without elaboration.

Saudi oil production and exports have been disrupted after the drone attacks, according to informed sources.

Bulk of Flood-Hit Homes in Southwest Iran Rebuilt

Of the 16,500 homes that were in need of repair after the March and April flooding in Khuzestan, 13,000 have been completely repaired, director of a headquarters tasked with coordinating the reconstruction of flood-affected areas said on Saturday.

Nasrollah Dehqani told the Ministry of Road and Urban Development’s news portal that a total of 20,184 dwellings had been registered in the list of damaged or wrecked homes in the wake of floods, noting that repairs to the remaining buildings will be carried out by late October.

He also noted that reconstruction of the other 3,600 houses destroyed by the flood will begin as soon as the weather conditions allow for open-air construction activities.

Thousands of people in Khuzestan were evacuated in April after torrential rains inundated residential areas and farms.

3D Bioprinting Lab Available to Iranian Scientists

In comments on Saturday, director of the laboratory network of the strategic technologies department of the Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology said university students and academic personnel can use a 3D bioprinting laboratory to carry out their projects.

Reza Asadifard said the advanced laboratory’s membership in the lab network of strategic technologies has allowed the local researchers to utilize its special apparatus to fabricate biological products with advanced techniques such as mechanical and pneumatic printing, thermoplastic 3D printing, cross-linking strategy for optical 3D printing, UV 3D printers, or special-purpose technical processes.

Highlighting the growing demand for organ transplantation, the low number of donors, and the progress in fabricating 3D printed tissues, Asadifard said the tissue engineering has made headways, but efforts are underway to form biological tissues with the same cellular structure as the human tissues.

The emerging process of 3D printing, which uses computer-created digital models to create real-world objects, has now produced biological tissues and is moving to fabricate living body parts.

US Targets within Range of Iranian Missiles: IRGC

Brigadier General Amir-Ali Hajizadeh said Iran’s downing of a US drone which had violated the Iranian airspace was a warning to the Americans.

“In this operation, in addition to downing the US [MQ-4] drone, which had intruded just a few kilometres into the airspace of our country, we could have also struck their P8 manned aircraft which had 35 people on board, but we didn’t,” said General Hajizadeh, the commander of the Aerospace Division of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

He said if the US had reacted to Iran’s downing of its drone, the Islamic Republic would have responded.

The top commander said Iranian forces were on high alert and ready to strike three American targets in the region in case of US reaction. He said the targets included the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, the Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates, and a US warship in the Sea of Oman.

Meanwhile, the top general reiterated that neither Tehran, nor Washington have any intention of waging war. Still, he said, Iran is always prepared for a full-scale war.
