Iran Strongly Condemns Kabul Mosque Attack

In a statement on Wednesday, Mousavi offered sympathy to the government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the pacific people of the country over the deadly attack, which killed the prayer leader of the mosque and injured a number of Afghan people.

Two people were killed and two others injured after a planted bomb exploded inside the popular mosque in Kabul’s fortified Green Zone on Tuesday afternoon.
Tariq Arian, spokesman for Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry, said the bomb targeted the mosque at around 7:25pm local time (1500 GMT) when worshippers had gathered for evening prayers.

The mosque is located in a high-security diplomatic area near the offices of several international organisations and embassies.

Prayer leader of the mosque, Mullah Mohammad Ayaz Niazi, was one of two people killed in the attack, Arian said. He was wounded in the attack and died later at a hospital.

Iran-Serbia Ties Should Remain Unaffected by US Sanctions: President

In a telephone conversation with his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic on Tuesday, President Rouhani stressed the need for the enhancement of economic, trade, scientific and technological cooperation between the two nations.

“We should not allow the cruel American sanctions to disrupt the promotion of economic relations between the two countries, so that we’d be able to serve the interests of the two nations by employing the capacity for cooperation,” the Iranian president added.

Describing closer economic and trade ties between Tehran and Belgrade as a necessity, President Rouhani said, “The officials of the two countries must use the whole capacities and opportunities available in order to broaden cooperation and joint economic activities.”

He further hailed Iran and Serbia’s common stances against unilateralism, called for closer interaction in the international organizations, and stated, “The two Iranian and Serbian nations have always stood against foreign intervention to protect their independence, and have not allowed the aliens to interfere in their internal affairs.”

President Rouhani finally highlighted Iran’s successful planning in the battle with the novel coronavirus and the production of homegrown diagnostic test kits by the knowledge-based companies, expressing Iran’s readiness to share its experiences in the fight against COVID-19 with Serbia and launch scientific and technological cooperation with the European country.

The Serbian president, for his part, called for concerted action by all governments in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Vucic also emphasized that Serbia has always opposed the imposition of sanctions and pressures on Iran, saying his country stands by the Iranian people.

“We must seize the opportunities and try to promote cooperation between the two countries in various areas, such as the economic, trade, scientific, cultural, technological, tourism and academic fields, to serve the interests of the two nations,” he noted.

The Serbian president finally lauded Iran’s independent stances on various international issues and its respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the other governments and nations.

Last month, Serbia’s Minister of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Zoran Djordjevic voiced the European country’s willingness to enhance relations with Iran.

In a meeting with Iran’s new ambassador to Belgrade, Djordjevic described Serbia and Iran as friendly countries, saying they will support each other in most of the international issues.

Iran to Exclude Oil Revenues from Its Income Basket

Iran to Exclude Oil Revenues from Its Income Basket

Head of Iran’s Plan and Budget Organization said currently just 10% of the budget depends on oil, but it has to become zero in order to counter the plots by the enemies.

Mohammad Baqer Nobakht further added that in a situation where the Islamic Republic is facing sanctions and repercussions of the coronavirus, there is no demand for Iran’s oil in the world.

Speaking at a parliament meeting on Tuesday, he underlined that oil and gas exports and revenues have decreased from $119 billion in 2011 to $8.9 billion.

“If we take oil out of the economy, we will definitely have 0.8 percent economic growth. At the moment, we have a long way to go to achieve such a goal due to sanctions,” highlighted Nobakht.

Iran Urges EU to Condemn US’ Illegal Moves

Iran Urges EU to Condemn US' Illegal Moves

President Hassan Rouhani said Washington’s pullout from the Iran nuclear agreement known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) ran counter to UN Security Council Resolution 2231, which has endorsed the deal.

“The United States’ exit from the JCPOA was in violation of the UNSC resolution and against international regulations, political norms and all moral commitments,” the president said in a phone conversation with his Finnish counterpart Sauli Niinistö.

Rouhani underlined that Iran is continuing its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the country’s nuclear activities remain under the agency’s watch.

“As soon as the European Union makes good on its 11 commitments in the JCPOA, we will comply with our obligations under the JCPOA as well.

Unfortunately, said the president, the Americans did not show any goodwill gesture at any stage, and even maintained their illegal sanctions and ratcheted up their economic pressure on Iran during the coronavirus outbreak, a move which is against human rights and principles.

“The Americans should have come to realize that continuing the path they have chosen will not be in their interest, and that scuttling the JCPOA would harm everyone,” President Rouhani said.

He said the US has taken the health of 83 million Iranians hostage by imposing unfair sanctions and preventing medicines and essential equipment from being sent to Iran at a time when the nation is grappling with the COVID-19 outbreak.

“The EU, especially Finland, should discharge their responsibility by condemning the United States’ illegal moves,” President Rouhani said.

He touched upon the Instrument in Support of Trade Exchanges (INSTEX) established by Europe as well as the Switzerland-Iran financial channel.

“Unfortunately, these financial mechanisms have failed to prove effective so far, and the EU should act to make these mechanisms more active,” he said.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Rouhani described Iran-Finland relations as cordial.

“The two countries enjoy very good potential for the enhancement of ties in the fields of economy and trade, investment in oil and energy, agriculture and technology, and these potentialities should be utilized,” he said.

He also touched upon Iran success in fighting COVID-19, and said Iran and Finland should exchange experience and information in that regard.

“Collective cooperation is needed in order to succeed in fighting this disease, and if countries do not join hands, it will be very difficult to get rid of this dangerous disease.

At a time when the world is gripped by coronavirus, he said, all countries should be treated equally and all of them should be allowed to have free access to medicines and medical equipment.

He said the US has violated international regulations by maintaining its sanctions on Iran, urging the EU to fulfill its duties in the domain of human rights at this sensitive juncture.
The Finish president, in turn, expressed satisfaction over Iran’s success in fighting coronavirus.

Niinistö welcomed the INSTEX mechanism, and said his country is ready to join the financial initiative.

He also expressed full support for the JCPOA as an international agreement, saying Finland will do whatever it can to preserve the JCPOA and believes all signatories to the deal should implement the accord.

Iranian Acid Attack Victims Turn into Fashion Models

Iranian Acid Attack Victims Turn into Fashion Models

The director of the institute says the goal behind the move is to show that women are beautiful even with faces that have lost their previous composition as a result of acid attacks.

Amen Khademi says they strongly believe that human beings are beautiful in nature and the beauty of women could be felt in all their mental and physical components.

“There are people who lose their physical beauty due to various accidents in Iran and all over the world, and the victims of acid attacks are among those who suffer a great deal of psychological and physical grief after enduring severe post-traumatic stress disorder as beauty is an important issue for all human beings,” noted Khademi.

The director of Mahura Cultural Institute went on to say that the female victims of acid attacks care more than men due to their psychological differences.

“Perhaps for this reason, women who are victims of acid attacks are slightly more affected than men. It is not unreasonable to say that the isolation of these are more threatening,” ISNA quoted Khademi as saying.

US Protests to Engulf Entire America: Iran’s Top Judge

US Protests to Engulf Entire America: Iran's Top Judge

Ayatollah Ebrahim Raisi said on Tuesday the demonstrations will bear down on other hegemonic powers as well.

“We are confident that … the spark which has been struck will turn into flames and engulf the United States together with [global] hegemony, and they are doomed to annihilation,” he said.

“Today, hegemonic powers should be accountable to the world public opinion for the crimes they have committed,” he added.

“If there were a just international court in the world, it would put the US on trial for the heinous crimes it has committed with regards to its own people across the world,” the Judiciary chief said.

He then hit out at so-called human rights advocates for remaining tight-lipped in the face of US crimes.

“Where are the world’s jurists? Why don’t so-called supporters of human rights raise their voice around the world against the US hegemonic system,” he asked rhetorically.

Iranian Scientist Sirous Asgari Released from US, en Route to Iran: FM

Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote on his Instagram page that Asgari is now free.
The top Iranian diplomat said the Iranian scientist has been acquitted of the baseless charges levelled against him.

“We were making every effort to set the stage for his return home,” said Zarif.

“If he tests negative for coronavirus, he can return to Iran on the first flight,”

The foreign minister said Asgari will return to the country if he tests negative for coronavirus.
Asgari, a professor of material sciences at Sharif University of Technology, was arrested in the United States in the mid-2017. Back then, the FBI alleged the scientist had shared information about a project he had conducted on a sabbatical in the US five years before with his students.

US legal authorities then charged him with withholding information in the process of visa application, circumventing the sanctions, and transferring technology to Iran.
Asgari had repeatedly pleaded for his release since March, complaining about unsanitary detention conditions and overcrowding at the Louisiana facility, where he was kept.
