Iran Confirms 160 New Fatalities Caused by COVID-19

Iran's COVID-19 Fatalities Hit 23,000: Ministry

In her press briefing on Monday, Sima-Sadat Lari confirmed 2,613 new cases of COVID-19 infection, raising the total number of infections to 243,051.

According to the spokeswoman, 204,083 patients have so far recovered from COVID-19, but 3,201 are still in severe conditions of the disease.

She said so far 1,820,003 COVID-19 tests have been taken across the country.
Lari added that Khuzestan, Kurdistan, East Azarbaijan, West Azarbaijan, Ilam, Hormozgan, Bushehr, Khorasan Razavi, and Kermanshah provinces are considered as red zones.

Iran Bans Export of Masks amid Surge in COVID-19 Infections

“Based on a decision made by the [coronavirus] task force, it is forbidden to export different types of masks for the time being,” said Jamshid Golpour, the head of the Industry ans Trade Ministry’s Centre for Guilds and Businesspeople

He further touched upon health protocols that make wearing masks obligatory and highlighted that some provinces are in a “red” state with regards to the COVID-19 outbreak.

He urged people as well as the private and public sectors to contribute to efforts to contain the novel coronavirus.

“The Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade makes every effort to remove obstacles to production, especially those in the cycle of producing masks,” he noted.

“Producers are expected to provide distribution networks with standard masks at already approved prices,” he said, adding that the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade supports workshops producing masks.

The Sunni Muslim mosque in Kermanshah has turned into a masterpiece of architecture and one of the most magnificent mosques across Iran after eight decades.

With its elegant minarets, the Shafe’i Mosque is one the Kurdish city’s main attractions. The mosque’s interior design includes intricate arches and pillars embellished with verses of the holy Quran.

Inspired by the classical Ottoman style in mosque architecture, Shafe’i Mosque has a large dome and several semi-domes, slender minarets, impressive ceiling and walls adorned by tughra calligraphic patterns and drawings, sturdy pillars, and a central space underneath the large dome that remind visitors of Turkish mosques.

Since 1947, the Sunni Muslims of Kermanshah have been holding Friday prayers in the mosque.

At present, the prayers are held only in the newly-built section of the mosque, whose style is inspired by the Turkish mosques and is adjacent to the old structure.

Like all other religious sites and mosques in Iran, the Shafe’i Mosque has faced a temporary closure after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in February.

In a message to Ismail Haniyeh, the chief of the political bureau of Islamic resistance movement Hamas, Ayatollah Khamenei has assured Palestine that the Islamic Republic feels bound on religious and humanitarian grounds to keep supporting the Palestinian people. In the message, Ayatollah Khamenei said he has carefully read a letter from Haniyeh about the recent developments in Palestine, adding, “I thank Almighty God for the fact that the Palestinian resistance movement’s fortitude and perseverance against the plots hatched by the US and the Zionist regime has led to their (Israelis’) weakness and failure and, conversely, has resulted in the dignity and glory for the Islamic Ummah, and I express gratitude to you brave strugglers.”

“The weak enemy, which has suffered irreparable defeats on the field, is pursuing its policy of expansionism and violation of the inalienable rights of Palestinians, first through economic pressures and blockade of the oppressed Gaza, and then with the trick of negotiation and the plan for peace and compromise, but the resistance current and the courageous Palestinian nation did not tolerate their (the enemy’s) threat and allurement with the logic of wisdom and experience, took the path to dignity and honor with their exemplary fortitude like the past, and will keep to this direct path from now on too,” the Leader said in the message.

Ayatollah Khamenei also reminded Haniyeh that “vigilance, unity and solidarity” among the Palestinian people and groups will help them thwart the evil hostile plots and will result in divine victory.

“Like before, the Islamic Republic, according to religious and humanitarian duties and based upon the valued principles of the Islamic Revolution, will spare no effort to support the oppressed people of Palestine, restore their rights, and also to combat the evil of the fake and usurping Zionist regime,” Ayatollah Khamenei underlined.

The Leader finally prayed that God might strengthen Palestine.

Peculiar Inheritance Makes Iranian Woman Exporter of Honey 7

The first thing that comes to mind when thinking about patrimony is usually a late father’s estate and money, but Fatemeh Mostafavi has inherited a bee yard from her father 50 years ago.

Her father’s bee yard in the province of Zanjan became such a lucrative source of livelihood that she could raise 12 children with the honey bee business.

Ms. Mostafavi’s father was a renowned beekeeper in Koohsar city and taught his daughter how to run a bee farm.

Fatemeh continued to run and expand the business after marrying Rajab Ali Shojaee, and now owns a large apiary with at least 80 beehives.

The hives are kept in their family garden and a number of them are relocated to nearby mountainous areas in the summertime to produce more and higher quality honey.

The product of their family business has loyal customers, even from the foreign countries.

Iran Sympathizes with Japan over Deadly Flood, Landslide

In a statement on Monday, Mousavi offered sympathy to the Japanese nation and government and the bereaved families of the victims.

Dozens of people are now confirmed or presumed dead amid floods and landslides triggered by torrential downpours on Japan’s southern island of Kyushu. The bad conditions are hampering search and rescue operations.

Scores of people remained stranded in southern Japan on Sunday after heavy rain the day before caused deep flooding and mudslides that left at least 34 people confirmed or presumed dead.

Floodwaters from the Kuma River inundated many houses, buildings and vehicles, causing people to climb onto roofs and wait for rescue.

More than 40,000 soldiers, coast guard personnel and fire brigades are taking part in search and rescue operations.

MPs May Oblige Iran Gov’t to Stop Implementing Additional Protocol

MP Ali Khezrian told Fars News Agency on Sunday that 200 lawmakers have endorsed the motion and submitted it to the parliament’s presiding board, according to which President Rouhani should appear before the legislature to answer questions on his government’s failure to control the fluctuation in housing market and the price of basic commodities.

In the motion, the lawmakers have cited the Article 88 of the Constitution to question the president on five main topics, including the rial’s decline and the dramatic rise in the foreign currency rates, the uncontrolled housing and automobile markets, such as the soaring inflation in the price of housing that has reached several hundred percent in the past couple of years.

The MPs also want to ask the president where in the 2015 nuclear agreement his government had made a “strategic mistake” that the US could easily withdraw from the JCPOA without paying any price and the Europeans are also rudely urging Iran to remain committed to the nuclear deal without honoring theirs.

The motion also includes questions about the administration’s failure to provide decent financial support for the businesses affected by the coronavirus outbreak as well as the ambiguities in disbursement of subsidized foreign currency for various sectors and the effects of such allocation of funds on inflation.

In comments on Sunday, President Rouhani blamed the recent fluctuations in foreign currency prices on “a complicated psychological operation” launched by the enemies aimed at undermining Iran’s oil-free economy through intensified pressures.

The president had announced in June that the fluctuations in the foreign currency market were temporary and had no fundamental economic reason.

The Iranian rial has fallen to its lowest ever rate against the US dollar on the unofficial market in recent days.
