Iranian President-elect Calls For Expansion of Tehran-Delhi Ties

Raisi said on Wednesday that collective security with the presence of regional countries, including Iran and India as two important players, as well as extensive economic interactions are the top priorities in Tehran-Delhi relations.

He made the comments in a meeting with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar who is in Tehran to hand in the congratulatory message of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the election of Raisi as the Islamic Republic’s new president.

“The stability of the relations between the two countries, especially in the economic field, depends on the regulating ties based on Tehran-Delhi interests,” Raisi added.

Raisi also stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports stability, security and peace in Afghanistan.

“According to the Americans themselves, the policy of maximum pressure against Iran has failed and the Islamic Republic of Iran will continue the path of progress strongly.”

For his part, Indian Foreign Minister Subramaniam thanked Ayatollah Raisi for attending the meeting to receive the written message of the Indian prime minister.

“It is vital for Iran and India, as the two very close regional partners, to work together to deal with different challenges,” Subrahmanyam noted.

The Indian foreign minister pointed out that the current situation in Afghanistan is very grave and Afghanistan’s neighbours must work together to resolve the country’s problems.

Subramaniam also handed in the official invitation of the Prime Minister of India in which Modi invited Raisi to visit India as the new President of Iran.

“Our Prime Minister, in his message, expressed confidence that the strong relations between Iran and India will continue to grow and expand under your management,” stressed the Indian official.

Afghan People Have Every Right to Be Opposed to War after 40 Years: Zarif

Zarif made the remarks in an address to the final meeting of the first round of intra-Afghan talks among the heads of delegations representing the Taliban group and prominent figures supporting the Republic system in Afghanistan, which wrapped up in Tehran with a a six-article communique.

In his speech, Foreign Minister Zarif thanked both delegations for giving priority to the peace, convenience and welfare of the Afghan people in their talks.

“Courage in peace is more important than courage in war, because peace needs sacrifice and forgiveness, needs ignoring one’s maximal demands, and paying attention to the other side’s demands, especially in these talks where there is no other side, and both sides are brothers seeking peace and calm for the Afghan nation,” Zarif said.

“What I ask you is that use this opportunity and end the war in Afghanistan as soon as possible, and provide the Afghan people with the chance to develop,” he added.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is always ready to facilitate your talks in any way you prefer,” Zarif noted.

Before the Iranian Foreign Minister’s speech at the conclusion of talks, Yunus Qanuni as the representative of the delegation of those supporting the Republic system and Abbas Stanikzai as the representative of the Taliban delegation expressed their views about the Tehran Summit.

Iran: Production of Uranium Silicide Plate in Accordance with IAEA Rules

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Wednesday that Tehran’s decision is in accordance with the procedures and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been informed about this issue.

The Iranian spokesman made the remarks in reaction to a joint statement by France, Britain and Germany.

Khatibzadeh said contrary to the claims of the E3, this product has peaceful, medicinal and humanitarian uses, and its production does not contradict Iran’s non-proliferation and safeguard obligations.

He further emphasised that while some countries consider Iran’s actions as violation of its obligations under the JCPOA, they have never gone beyond words regarding their own obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, and in line with the US cruel pressure they have implemented Washington’s extraterritorial and unlawful sanctions.

“We have repeatedly emphasised that Iran is ready to suspend its compensatory measures and to fully resume the fulfillment of its obligations as soon as the oppressive sanctions are lifted. No one should expect Iran to unilaterally comply with its commitments while it is under intense pressure of unilateral sanctions.”

Khatibzadeh stated that voluntary access to transparency measures beyond the Safeguards, including the provisional and voluntary implementation of the Additional Protocol, will be carried out by Iran in accordance with the provisions of the JCPOA if the Vienna talks are concluded.

He added that the concerns raised in this regard are of no use and the US State Department spokesman’s position on this issue is unacceptable.

“The US is concerned about Iran’s actions, while the current situation concerning the JCPOA is due to Washington’s illegal and unilateral actions and approaches, as this country has continued to implement Donald Trump’s failed maximum pressure policy on the Iranian people during the Biden administration as well.”

In the end, the foreign ministry spokesman emphasised that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always expressed its readiness to resume the implementation of its obligations in the event of the lifting of US sanctions, and during the Vienna talks, it has clearly conveyed these points to the other parties.

The United States and European troika on Wednesday warned Tehran that its latest uranium enrichment efforts could jeopardise talks taking place in Vienna on reviving the nuclear deal.
The US State Department spokesman Ned Price also called on Tehran to stop the move and return to Vienna for real talks to finish the work.

“It is worrying that Iran is choosing to continue to escalate its nonperformance of its JCPOA commitments, especially with experiments that have value for nuclear weapons research,” Price said.
