Zarif Meets Omani Counterpart in Tehran on His Last Day in Office

During the Tuesday meeting, Foreign Minister Zarif praised the distinctive relations between Tehran and Muscat and the two sides’ efforts to promote the level of mutual cooperation, and underlined the continuation of this trend during Mr Ebrahim Raisi’s tenure in office.

He also elaborated on the definitive policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the future government in expansion of relations with neighbours.

The Omani top diplomat, in turn, lauded Foreign Minister Zarif’s eight-year efforts to enhance Tehran’s bilateral relations with Muscat, and said, “The Sultanate of Oman’s policy is to promote its relations with Iran.”

Badr Al Busaidi said Sultan Haitham, in continuation of the viewpoint of the late Sultan of Oman, has put this approach on his agenda, and he will continue cooperating with Iran’s new administration.

“The Sultanate of Oman will do its utmost to get the viewpoints of regional countries closer together in order to reinforce the element of dialogue,” he added.

Iran’s First NFT Multimedia Exhibit Themed on ‘Trump’ Opens in Tehran

The exhibit showcases the works of eight artists themed on “Donald Trump” in the form of digital art.

The works of art illustrate concepts such as Trump’s individual behaviour and character, republicanism and democracy, social media, news headlines related to Trump, etc.

A non-fungible token is a unit of data stored on a digital ledger, called a blockchain, that certifies a digital asset to be unique and therefore not reproducible or interchangeable.

NFT products are traded online using cryptocurrency.

Although it is customary to use NFTs in different domains, it has specifically become popular in the domain of digital art and collections.

In recent years, the works of some renowned artists have been sold at high prices, setting marvelous records among the most expensive NFTs.

Moreover, there are companies which turn artistic masterpieces to NFTs.

These digital works, which are reproduced with the same size as the original work, are unique and theft-proof and have made their way into digital collections.

In Iran, too, a number of artists who use digital tools to create works of art have sometimes reproduced works in the form of NFTs some of which have been offered on foreign websites.

Nevertheless, there had been no opportunity to introduce and display these types of work in Iran before.

Now that the coronavirus pandemic has forced people to stay away from public places and become all the more dependent on the Internet and digital gadgets, the Dena Art Gallery has set up an exhibition in cooperation with a group of artists to showcase digital works of art on the NFT platform.

“There is almost no one in the world who does know Donald Trump. From our standpoint, he, who was the United States’ 45th president, is the result of a kind of human thinking and the outcome of a form of democracy which are capable of creating such a phenomenon when combined with social media,” read the exhibition’s statement.

Artists attending the exhibit have looked at Trump’s character from different perspectives through a whole range of works of art.

One of the artists shows the front page of a newspaper which illustrates a caricature of Trump with stains of colour being splashed on it.

This work of art focuses on Trump’s insulting and racist tweets and highlights people’s demands that he be removed.

Another work named “Trump’s Dead End” depicts images of the Statue of Liberty in New York as well as the Azadi Tower in Tehran, highlighting the dashing of hopes of expansion of Iran’s international relations during the Trump era.

Another work illustrates the image of Trump with a clown’s make-up, highlighting his anti-social character and his intense superiority and despotism mentality.

There is work of art showing notes of music illustrating Trump’s date of birth.

Another work aggrandizes Trump’s yellow hair and red tie, which suggest showing off his power.

This work of art highlights that Trump did not initiate a conflict, but launched major economic wars against other countries, including Iran.

The Carpet Which Introduces Iranian Art in Olympics

The designer and creator of the hand-woven carpet is Hossein Kazemi Hamed, an Iranian artist who has also prepared framed rugs for the FIFA World Cup, the AFC Asian Cup and other major sports events in the past.

Kazemi now says he has been designing and weaving carpets for major sports events to make other countries familiar with the Iranian art.

“When, for the first time, I started a sports-themed framed rug project [for the FIFA World Cup] in 1998 in France, with the aim of introducing Iranian art and culture [to other countries], it got huge attention from domestic and foreign media,” Kazemi said in an interview with Iran’s ISNA news agency.

“Before that, no one had ever linked carpets with sports. In fact, this was my own idea and initiative and a result of my own creativity. Also in the year 2002, when the FIFA World cup was held in South Korea and Japan, with the help of Mr. Adel Gharibi, I cooperated with a Japanese company and he has provided for all the costs of these carpets ever since, and also for the one woven for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.”

The Iranian artist also touched on the elements he has used in the Olympics-themed carpet and their meaning.

“In this framed rug, all sports logos of the Olympics have been used in the design and the Olympic symbols have been inserted in the middle. Also, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics logo has been placed on the top of the carpet, while the flags of Iran and Japan, the Tokyo tower and peace doves are also inserted in the design,” he said.

Iran’s Leader Endorses Ebrahim Raisi as New President

In his mandate, the Leader lauded Raisi’s wisdom and tireless efforts.

“Now, while expressing my gratitude to our dear people, and approving of their choice, I confirm and appoint Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, a wise, indefatigable and seasoned scholar with the common touch, as the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” read Ayatollah Khamenei’s mandate.

“I asked God Almighty to bestow success upon him and his colleagures,” the mandate added.

After receiving the Leader’s mandate, Raisi reiterated that the Iranian presidential election held on June 18, 2021 was a manifestation of religious democracy.

“In that election, people turned out en masse and created a great epic despite enemies’ animosity and health restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic,” Raisi noted.

He said the Islamic Revolution of Iran presented a “new model of governance” which brings together science and ethics, justice and progress, dignity and welfare.

He also thanked efforts made by Iranian officials since the revolution to realize democracy.

Raisi vowed to continue efforts to lift the anti-Iran sanctions but said he won’t make it dependent on the foreigners’ will.

Iran Shrewdly Negotiated JCPOA, Developed Civilian Nuclear Industry

“The current administration’s achievements in the nuclear industry are unique and the AEOI proved it has used utmost wisdom in the [nuclear] negotiations and in the text of the nuclear deal,” Ali Akbar Salehi said during the launching ceremony of key projects, including launching of three uranium mines in central Iran.

Salehi also said Iran is now also capable of producing over 100 tons of uranium yellowcake from low-grade domestic resources. He said this helps keep afloat Iran’s civilian nuclear activities, which need yellowcake, including power-production, nuclear medicine and agricultural research, amid lack of access to international markets, even after signing the 2015 nuclear deal.

“The AEOI, along with completing major infrastructural projects such as the development of the national nuclear fuel cycle, began developing nuclear power plants with construction of 2nd and 3rd units at Bushehr [nuclear power plant] with 10 billion dollars in finance from state funds.”

He added that his organization has also begun the construction of the Center for Production and Development of Radiomedicines of Iran as well as a major ion therapy center, without reliance on state funding. He said the projects, which are now 85 percent compete, are among the key achievements of the current administration.

Salehi also touched on the project to design and produce dry storage casks for spent nuclear fuel inside the country. The AEOI chief said Iran needs these casks to store spent fuel from the Bushehr nuclear power plant, but there were unavailable to the country due to sanctions. He said successful indigenization of the 120-ton storage casks was among the most complicated national engineering projects and represented the first time Iran managed to forge and cast a product with a weight more than 60 tons.

Tehran Strongly Protests Bucharest’s ‘Baseless’ Accusations

In a meeting held on Monday between the director general of the Foreign Ministry’s Mediterranean and Eastern Europe Department and the Romanian ambassador, the Iranian official described as legally invalid and unacceptable Romania’s baseless and invalid accusations against Iran.

He asked the ambassador to convey Iran’s message of displeasure and strong protest on the issue to the officials of her country.

The Iranian foreign minister’s assistant also said some third countries seek to spark insecurity and unrest in the international atmosphere through certain measures. He called for vigilance in the face of plots by these countries and reiterated that Iran’s fundamental policy is to attach significance to ensuring the safety of marine navigation in the Persian Gulf, Sea of Oman and International waters.

During the meeting, the Romanian ambassador stressed that the issues raised as well as Iran’s message of protest will be promptly conveyed to Bucharest.

Iran Summons UK Envoy to Protest Dominic Raab’s Accusations over Ship Attack

During the Monday meeting, the director of the Foreign Ministry’s third department of Western Europe expressed regret about the unfounded accusation by the British top diplomat, and said, “These hasty, contradictory remarks made without any evidence or proof are rejected and strongly condemned.”

“This is not the first time Britain levels hasty and unsubstantiated accusations against the Islamic Republic of Iran. This country [Britain] had in some instances in the past also accused Iran of actions that were never proven and no proof or evidence was presented to support them.”

The Iranian official also underlined Iran’s efforts to ensure and strengthen security in the Persian Gulf, stressing that Tehran considers the waterway a secure route for the innocent passage of vessels.
“The source of instability in the Persian Gulf is not Iran; it is rather the presence of warships and military forces of countries from outside the region,” he said.

The Iranian official also warned against any adventurism by the occupying regime of Israel or others in the region. He said Iran’s definite policy is defending itself and giving a crushing, timely and proportionate response to any act of adventurism.
The British charge d’affaires also pledged to promptly convey the proceedings to London.

British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab claimed Monday that UK assessments indicate Iran had used a drone to target the tanker. He also vowed a coordinated response to what he called the “unacceptable” attack.

Iran Warns UK, Israel It Will Give Strong Response to Any Adventure

“Such coordinated statements (from Britain and the US) include contradictory phrases per se, in a way that they first level accusations against the Islamic Republic of Iran without providing any evidence and document and then talk about the ‘possibility’ of this,” Khatibzadeh said on Monday.

The spokesman described Iran as an advocate and supporter of the safe navigation of ships in the Persian Gulf and international waters, and said as a country that has the longest sea borders in the Persian Gulf, Iran is always prepared for cooperation with regional countries to ensure maritime security.

He also noted that Iran considers the presence and interference of the extra-regional forces in the Persian Gulf waters and its littoral states to be harmful to the region’s stability and security.

“It is a pity that these countries (the US and Britain) have remained supportively silent about the terrorist attacks and acts of sabotage against Iranian trade vessels in the Red Sea and international waters, but have raised bogus allegations against Iran with political bias in a brazen manner. If these countries have any evidence for their bogus claims, they should present them,” he added.

Khatibzadeh finally noted that Iran has no hesitation in protecting its security and national interests and will respond promptly and strongly to any possible adventure.

His remarks came after the United States and the United Kingdom joined Israel in accusing Iran of orchestrating Thursday’s attack on an Israeli-managed ship off the coast of Oman, despite Tehran’s firm denial.

“Upon review of the available information, we are confident that Iran conducted this attack, which killed two innocent people, using one-way explosive UAVs,” US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement Sunday.

British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab also reflected on the matter, saying that the “unlawful and callous” attack had highly likely been carried out by Iran using one or more drones.

On Monday, an informed Iranian source also said the country will give a strong and crushing response to any measure taken against its national interests and security, blaming Britain and the US for the consequences of such moves against Tehran.

“Although the Islamic Republic of Iran considers threats posed by the officials of Western countries and the Zionist regime to be mostly of propaganda value, any measure against Iran’s interests and national security will be met with strong and crushing response, with Washington and London being directly responsible for consequences of such moves,” said the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity with an Iranian news outlet close to the Supreme

Tehran Rejects Bahrain Court Ruling against Iranian Banks

“The legal proceedings in the Bahraini courts against the Central Bank of Iran and Iranian individuals and banks are so faulty that we have no information on the details of the case from official and valid sources, and the information we have is limited to a few media reports. Therefore, any comment on the issue is made based on the reports published by media,” said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh on Sunday.

“Such cases and baseless claims and accusations against the Central Bank of Iran, Saderat Bank, Bank Melli and some managers of these banks, are mainly driven by political ends and are legally void.”

“Apparently, in these cases, the Bahraini court is solely executing the orders and decisions of Bahrain’s political and security apparatus. These cases also fail to meet judicial standards on fair investigation and trial and the Iranian sides were deprived of their basic rights. The judicial proceedings have also been intransparent and faulty.”

Khatibzadeh added that Iran considers the unfounded criminal charges, the relevant trial and the issued verdict on these cases legally void and holds the Bahraini government responsible in this regard.

“It goes without saying that the Islamic Republic of Iran reserves the right to use all national and international means to counter such measures by Bahrain and will not back down on defending the interests and inalienable rights of its nationals,” he added.
