In the meeting held in Tehran on Monday, Zarif pointed to his planned visit to Latin American countries, including Venezuela, in coming days and said Tehran is willing to enhance ties with Caracas in all areas.
He added that a high-ranking economic delegation comprising government and private sector officials will accompany him in the upcoming visit.
The Iranian foreign minister further expressed the hope that the trip would lead to the development of bilateral relations in various spheres, banking and energy in particular, considering that representatives from the two sectors in Iran will be accompanying him in the trip.
Zarif also said Tehran was ready to contribute to the upcoming summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), which is slated to be held in Venezuela later in the year.
The Non-Aligned Movement is a group of 120 member states which are not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc.
Rodriguez, for her part, welcomed the scheduled visit to Venezuela by Zarif and called for the expansion of the bilateral ties between the two countries in all areas.
The Venezuelan top diplomat has traveled to the Iranian capital alongside Oil Minister Eulogio Del Pino.
