EU deplores Israeli seizure of 800 hectares of land in West Bank

European Parliament

“The European Union firmly condemns the announcement by Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich that over 800 hectares of land in the occupied Palestinian territory have been declared as ‘state lands’,” the EU said in a statement.

This is the largest confiscation since the Oslo Accords was signed between the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and Israel in 1994, it added.

“Settlements are a grave breach of international humanitarian law. At this week’s European Council, EU leaders condemned Israeli Government decisions to further expand illegal settlements across the occupied West Bank, urging Israel to reverse these decisions,” it noted.

The Palestinian presidency condemned the Israeli government’s decision to seize the land in the Jordan Valley.

Palestinian and Israeli human rights organizations have pointed to a noticeable increase in settlement activity in the West Bank since the formation of Benjamin Netanyahu’s government at the end of 2022.

According to the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission estimates, more than 720,000 Israelis reside in illegal settlements in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

The international community agrees that settlements are “illegal” and constitute an obstacle to the implementation of the “two-state solution”, which calls for the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside the state of Israel.

Any US effort to justify Ukraine until Crocus attack probe ends will be evidence: Russia

Moscow Terror Attack

“Over the decades, the political elites of the United States have learnt how skillfully divert attention from high-profile crimes and all sorts of staging. Therefore, until the investigation into the terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall is completed, any phrase from Washington justifying Kiev should be considered as evidence,” the diplomat wrote in her Telegram channel.

She noted that the financing of “the terrorist activities of the Kiev organized crime group by American liberal democrats and participation in the corruption schemes of the Biden family have been going on for many years.”

Zakharova added that the United States hastened to declare Ukraine’s non-involvement in the terrorist attack.

“White House National Security Council Spokesperson Adrienne Watson says: Ukraine is not involved in the terrorist attack in Krasnogorsk, the banned the Islamic State (designated as a terrorist organization, outlawed in Russia) is to blame. I wish they could have done it so quickly with the assassination of their own president [John] Kennedy. But no – for more than 60 years they have not been able to find out who killed him after all. Or was it IS as well?” Zakharova wrote.

The diplomat also touched upon the investigation into the Nord Stream explosions.

“According to the United States (and The New York Times cited comments from officials), Ukrainians were involved there. But then the American authorities have gone to ground. And they are still rummaging around there for something, either for Kiev or IS divers. Not a single word was uttered from Washington calling on Denmark and Sweden not to stop searching for the culprits, while Russia’s proposal for an investigation under the auspices of the UN was blocked by the Anglo-Saxons in the Security Council,” she added.

Iran border guards thwart infiltration attempt: chief police cmdr.

Ahmad Reza Radan

General Radan praised the courage and vigilance displayed, ensuring the failure of the incursion into Iran.

He added that the infiltrators were arrested and seriously dealt with.

Addressing forthcoming priorities, General Radan emphasized decisive actions against criminals and the apprehension of illegal immigrants.

Regrettably, he lamented 417 lives lost due to traffic violations during the Persian New Year vacation, casting a somber shadow over the joyous occasions of Nowruz and the fasting month of Ramadan.

He stressed the preventable nature of many casualties, urging strict adherence to regulations to avert future tragedies.

As the country navigates new challenges, the Chief Police Commander reaffirmed the commitment to safeguarding borders, combating crime, and prioritizing public safety.

Russian missile enters Polish airspace during massive attack on Ukraine, Moscow envoy summoned: Report

Russian Embassy

The Armed Forces Operational Command of Poland said a cruise missile crossed into its airspace at about 4:40 a.m. on Sunday near the village of Oserdów, on the Ukrainian border. The Polish military added it was over the country’s airspace for about 39 seconds before entering Ukraine.

Poland’s Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz later stated that the Russian missile would have been shot down had there been any indication that it was heading towards a target in Poland.

The missile attack is the third in four days against Ukraine as Russia ramps up strikes across the country.

“As last night’s rocket attack on Ukraine was one of the most intense since the beginning of the Russian aggression, all the strategic procedures were launched on time and the object was monitored until it left the Polish air space,” Kosiniak-Kamysz added.

Warsaw also summoned the Russian ambassador on Sunday over the incident.

The Polish Foreign Ministry announced in a statement that it would “demand explanations from the Russian Federation in connection with another violation of the country’s airspace”.

“Above all, we call on the Russian Federation to stop the terrorist air attacks on the inhabitants and territory of Ukraine, end the war, and address the country’s internal problems,” the ministry added.

Russian missiles have violated Polish airspace numerous times since the onset of the war in early 2022. Two Poles were killed in 2022 when a Ukrainian air defense missile went off-target and landed in the country, sparking criticism against Russia for making Ukraine act in self-defense.

The war has ground to a standstill over much of the front, with Ukrainian leaders continuing pushes for additional financial and military aid from Western allies, including Congress.

Israel storms Nasser, Al-Amal hospitals in Gaza’s Khan Younis: Palestinian Red Crescent

Israeli Army

“Israeli occupation vehicles are besieging both Al-Amal Hospital and Al-Naser Hospital amidst very intense shelling and heavy gunfire,” the society said in a statement.

“Occupation vehicles are currently surrounding Al-Amal Hospital and conducting extensive excavation work around the hospital,” it added.

“All of our teams are in extreme danger at the moment and are completely immobilized,” it also said, noting that its crews were unable to bury the body of their colleague Amir Abu Aisha in the hospital’s backyard.

Earlier Sunday, Israeli military vehicles suddenly entered near the Nasser Medical Complex, coinciding with a series of Israeli raids in various areas of the city causing deaths and injuries, according to eyewitnesses.

“Amir Abu Aisha, a member of the emergency operations room of the Palestinian Red Crescent, was killed by Israeli gunfire while working inside Al-Amal Hospital,” medical sources told Anadolu.

Thousands of displaced people took refuge in the Nasser Medical Complex escaping the Israeli military operations.

On Feb. 15, Israeli forces raided the hospital in a military operation that lasted 10 days, during which they killed dozens of displaced people, medical staff, and patients inside the hospital, and arrested hundreds more, according to the Health Ministry in the enclave.

Israel has waged a deadly military offensive on the Gaza Strip since an Oct. 7 cross-border attack led by Hamas in which some 1,200 people were killed.

More than 32,200 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have since been killed in Gaza, and over 74,500 others injured amid mass destruction and shortages of necessities.

Israel stands accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice. An interim ruling in January ordered Tel Aviv to stop genocidal acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza.

Israel opposes return of displaced Palestinians to northern Gaza ‘without conditions’: Report

Israeli Army

Israeli Channel 12 indicated on Saturday that the delegation would return to Israel on Saturday evening.

It clarified that the return of delegation members to Israel might indicate a lack of progress in talks.

During discussions in Doha, the delegation stipulated that in the first stage of an exchange deal, 40 hostages from all categories should be released alive, according to the channel.

Israel proposed a limited return of 2,000 displaced Palestinians daily to northern Gaza, two weeks after a cease-fire would start.

The channel noted the rejection by the delegation, led by Mossad chief David Barnea, of a request by Hamas to release 30 Palestinian prisoners sentenced to life, in exchange for every female soldier. The delegation offered five in return for their release.

According to Channel 12, as part of talks in the Qatari capital, Israel demanded the return of the bodies of Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul, who were captured in Gaza in 2014, in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners who were released in a deal in 2011 for captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit and were re-arrested.

Israel holds in its prisons at least 9,100 Palestinians, according to Palestinian official sources, while the number of Israeli hostages held in Gaza remains unclear due to Hamas’ refusal to disclose the figure “without a hefty price”.

While Israeli media speaks of between 240 and 253 Israeli hostages, including three who were released by Israel and 105 who were released by Hamas during an exchange deal last November, the Palestinian movement speaks of the killing of 70 others due to Israeli shelling.

Israel has launched a deadly military offensive on the Gaza Strip since an Oct. 7 attack by Hamas which Tel Aviv said killed less than 1,200 people.

More than 32,100 Palestinians have since been killed and over 74,500 injured amid mass destruction and shortages of necessities.

Israel has also imposed a crippling blockade on the Gaza Strip, leaving its population, particularly residents of northern Gaza, on the verge of starvation.

The Israeli war has pushed 85% of Gaza’s population into internal displacement amid acute shortages of food, clean water and medicine, while 60% of the enclave’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, according to the UN.

Israel is accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice. An interim ruling in January ordered Tel Aviv to stop genocidal acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza.

The Hamas movement has also warned against “misinformation” being released regarding the ongoing Qatar-hosted truce talks.

Hamas’s political bureau official Bassem Naim said that during the talks the Israelis have insisted on focusing only on the release of captives and have been unwilling to discuss Hamas’s three demands – a permanent end to the war, “total withdrawal” from Gaza and the return of displaced people to their homes.

“Hamas has clearly told the mediators that we cannot accept negotiating any prisoner deal unless the Israelis give these guarantees,” Naim told Al Jazeera on Saturday.

Naim added it was “shocking” that the latest Israeli proposals retract points previously agreed on at prior talks.

“Now suddenly, the Israelis are rejecting these. We believe it is not about a ceasefire, it is about Netanyahu using the negotiations as a cover to gain more time to continue his plans for the complete bombardment of the rest of the Gaza Strip, including Rafah, and to relieve international pressure,” stated Naim.

“We told the negotiators tonight we’re not ready to discuss any further proposals. There are talks between the Israelis and the negotiators. There are no talks with us. It is up to the superpower Americans and Europeans to exercise more pressure on Netanyahu not endanger the whole region and undermine any chance of long-term stability, security and prosperity.”

Famine in Gaza imminent as agriculture sector ravaged: UN

Gaza War

That is in part because of widespread damage caused by the Israeli military to the agricultural sector in the Gaza Strip.

“When it comes to livestock losses – obviously this is a sector we’re very concerned about as it’s indispensable for the livelihoods and the survival of families in Gaza – we estimate that 60 percent of the milk cows have been killed,” Paulsen said.

When it comes to meat production, as much as 70 percent of the cattle stock has been killed. About 60 percent of small ruminants such as goats and sheep have been killed.

“When we look at the trajectory of food security and nutrition statistics, we are facing a catastrophic situation in technical terms,” Paulsen added.

More than 32,100 Palestinians have since been killed and over 74,500 injured amid mass destruction and shortages of necessities.

Half of Palestinians in Gaza are experiencing “catastrophic” hunger, with famine projected to hit the north of the territory by May unless there is urgent intervention, a United Nations-backed food assessment warned on Monday.

Iranians honor victims of Russian terror attack by laying flowers at Russia’s embassy

Moscow Terror Attack

Around 140 people were killed and scores wounded in the shooting rampage. The attackers dressed in camouflaged outfits entered the Crocus City Hall on Friday and opened fire there.

The Daesh terror group claimed responsibility, but authorities in Moscow have dismissed the assertion, emphasizing that the investigation is still underway to ascertain the culprits.

The Russian Federal Security Service has reported the detention of 11 suspects.

Russian President Vladimir Putin says the four people directly involved in the attack were trying to flee to Ukraine when they were detained.

Rights group says Israel has killed 560 people in attacks involving aid convoys in Gaza

Gaza War

Aid workers as well as those attempting to receive aid have been targets, the group said.

“Israel uses hunger as a standalone war crime,” the rights group added.

At least 19 Palestinians have been killed in an Israeli attack targeting civilians who were waiting for aid southeast of Gaza City, Gaza’s Ministry of Health and its Media Office reproted on Saturday.

Half of Palestinians in Gaza are experiencing “catastrophic” hunger, with famine projected to hit the north of the territory by May unless there is urgent intervention, a United Nations-backed food assessment warned on Monday.

But aid distribution has become increasingly dangerous and sometimes lethal.

Last Tuesday, 23 Palestinians were killed, and several others were injured by Israeli bombing that targeted Palestinians waiting for humanitarian aid in the northern Gaza Strip.

On February 29, Israeli forces opened fire on hundreds of Palestinians as they gathered south of Gaza City waiting to receive humanitarian aid in what is known as the “flour massacre”, leaving 118 dead and 760 wounded, according to the Health Ministry in the enclave.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Saturday during a visit to the Rafah crossing that the line of blocked aid trucks stuck on Egypt’s side of the border with the Gaza Strip while Palestinians face starvation on the other side is a “moral outrage”.

Daesh releases graphic video it claims shows Moscow concert hall attack

Moscow Terror Attack

The video, which is about 90 seconds long, shows four attackers with their faces blurred and voices distorted in what appears to be the Crocus City Hall complex.

The video shows one attacker signaling to another gunman, who then walks past a door where people are hiding and opens fire on them.

Bodies and blood can be seen on the floor, with fire raging at a distance.

The video also shows one of the attackers slitting the throat of a man lying on his back.

The video ends with the four attackers walking away inside the building as smoke can be seen at a distance.

On Friday, ISIS or ISIL claimed responsibility for the attack, according to a short statement published by Amaq.

On Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin suggested Ukraine was behind the attack, stating the perpetrators had “tried to hide and moved towards Ukraine, where, according to preliminary data, a window was prepared for them on the Ukrainian side to cross the border”.

Ukraine has vehemently denied any connection to Friday’s attack.

At least 133 people were killed and 152 injured in Friday’s attack.
