Iran Self-Sufficient in Diesel Fuel

“At present, we are self-sufficient in the production of diesel fuel and we have no need to import it,”Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said on Saturday.

Referring to the development of Iran’s giant South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf, Zanganeh described the project as an unprecedented and the largest project in the country’s natural gas industry.

He expressed hope that Iran will add 100 million cubic meters of natural gas to its national network by the end of the current Persian calendar year (ending March 20, 2015).

Iran has been trying to enhance its gas production by attracting foreign and domestic investment, especially in its South Pars gas field.

South Pars is part of a larger field that is shared with Qatar. The larger field covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which lie in Iran’s territorial waters (South Pars) in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers, referred to as the North Dome, are located in Qatar’s territorial waters.

The Iranian oil and gas field contains 14 trillion cubic meters of natural gas, about eight percent of the world’s reserves.

Supreme Leader Asks Muslims to Set Aside Differences

Addressing hundreds of officials and people from various walks of life as well as ambassadors and charge d’affairs of Muslim countries on the occasion of the auspicious Eid-al-Fitr (Fast breaking feast) in Tehran on Tuesday, Ayatollah Khamenei said Muslim governments should set aside political and non-political differences to help the oppressed in Gaza.

“Setting aside differences, the world of Islam should use all its potential to meet needs of the people of Gaza and while countering impudent crimes of Zionists, Muslim world should voice hatred and disavow of Zionist allies, especially the US and the UK,” he said.

Ayatollah Khamenei felicitated all Muslim nations on Eid-al-Fitr, and said, “Unfortunately, contrary to Islamic injunctions, today political and power mongering motivations have divided Muslim Ummah.”

The Supreme Leader invited Muslim countriesˈ officials to set aside such motivations and opt for the establishment of a united, powerful and capable Ummah.

“If power mongering, dependences and corruptions fail to divide the world of Islam, no arrogant power would dare to invade and make aggression on Muslim countries or seek ransom from them,” he said.

Stressing that the Zionistsˈ impudence in massacring people in Gaza is the result of rift in the world of Islam, Ayatollah Khamenei said secret censorship in the west does not allow western nations to be informed of the depth of Gaza events. “The crimes are so heinous and heart rending that reflection of even part of it by the western media has shocked non-Muslim nations and brought them to streets.”

“Our clear message to Muslim governments is to rise up to assist the oppressed people and show that the world of Islam will not keep silent in face of tyranny and injustice. To meet the goal, Muslim governments should ignore political and non-political differences and get united in rushing aid to the oppressed who are in clutches of the blood soaking Zionist wolves,” he underlined.

The Supreme Leader said open support of the arrogant powers, including the US and the UK, and the explicit or implicit confirmation of Zionistsˈ crimes by the international communities, including the UN, is complicity in the crimes of the blood soaking regime.

“Muslim nations and Muslim governments have the duty to disavow of allies and supporters of the criminals ruling over Tel Aviv and economically and politically confront them if possible,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Israel has been pounding the blockaded Gaza for 22 consecutive days, killing at least 1,100 people and injuring more than 6,500 others.

An elementary school packed with hundreds of Palestinian evacuees seeking shelter under UN protection came under heavy Israeli fire Thursday, leaving 17 people dead and more than 200 wounded, including women, children and infants.

Festering tumors eroding Muslims have same roots: Rouhani

President Rouhani

“Unfortunately, we face two festering tumors in this region and across the Muslim world,” Rouhani said at a Monday meeting with Iranian officials and diplomats from different Islamic countries in Tehran.

“One tumor has always caused distress to the Palestinians and Muslims and these days it is secreting and wreaking havoc on the land of olive [trees]. The other festering tumor which is agonizing the Muslims these days is a campaign launched under the name of Islam, religion, caliphate and caliphacy and has undertaken the murder and killing of Muslims in the region,” Rouhani said.

He pointed to the massacre of defenseless Gazans by Israel, saying, “These incidents are crimes against humanity and all the international bodies and organizations boasting of [defending] humanity and human rights should provide the grounds for putting the criminals on trial.”

Palestinian medical sources say since Israel started its invasion of the Gaza Strip on July 8, more than 1,159 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 6,700 others injured.

“All studies indicate that both tumors have roots at the same point,” Rouhani pointed out.

Also, several Muslim countries including Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria have in recent years become the scene of atrocious crimes against humanity by Takfiri groups.

Rouhani further underlined Tehran’s resolve to promote global peace and justice and create unity in the Muslim world.

“The strategy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the global arena is the policy of peace and justice and in the Muslim world is the policy of fraternity, unity and support for a unified Islamic nation,” he said.

The Iranian president warned against the hegemonic powers’ plots against the aspirations of the Muslim world and noted, “Today, the Islamic Republic of Iran seeks to establish stability and security, prevent massacre and bloodshed and restore just peace in the region with all its might and capacity.”

He pointed to the massacre of defenseless Gazans by Israel, saying, “These incidents are crimes against humanity and all the international bodies and organizations boasting of [defending] humanity and human rights should provide the grounds for putting the criminals on trial.”

Achievements of the Ramadhan War

Javan-Newspaper-IFP

With the Israeli offensive against Gaza dominating the international news during the fasting month of Ramadhan, Javan Daily, which unofficially reflects the viewpoints of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps, ran an article on July 26, 2014 which suggests the war which is raging in the Palestinian enclave constitutes an achievement for the Palestinian resistance movement. Here is an excerpt of the article penned by Mohammad Javad Akhavan:

The resistance the Palestinians have put up in the face of Israeli aggression is as much innocent as strong. Maybe that is the reason why Israel is committing all manner of criminal acts in a bid to overcome the Palestinian resistance. Inspired by the Islamic Revolution [of Iran], Palestinians have been able to stand up for their rights. […] Here is a brief look at some of the victories the Palestinian resistance movement has scored in the recent war.

1. For the first time, the Palestinian resistance fighters have mounted an amphibious assault and sneaked past the frontlines to take the Zionist enemy by surprise. Military experts admit that the barrage of Palestinian rockets has been unprecedented.

2. The Palestinian resistance movement has managed to take a Zionist soldier captive in the heat of battle. Up until now, the [Israeli] military personnel had only been taken captive in ambushes. In the Palestinian conflict, taking the Zionists captive is of strategic importance, because such prisoners can be used as leverage against the Zionist regime to set Palestinian prisoners free and make concessions.

3. The war marked the first time the Palestinians have used drones in a conflict. What lends added importance to this new Palestinian weapon is that despite using very advanced radar technology the Zionists have been unable to detect the unmanned aerial vehicles of the Palestinian movement.

4. The rockets the Palestinian resistance has used in this war have flown significantly deeper into the enemy territory, bringing northern Israeli towns such as Haifa within striking distance of the resistance. Besides, the rockets have been more precise, targeting for the first time the nuclear facilities of the Zionist regime such as Dimona. The Palestinian rockets have also forced the shutdown of Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport, and prompted the Zionist prime minister to cut short one of his news conferences.

5. The number of Zionist casualties in this war has beat expectations, prompting the officials of the regime to try their best to censor casualty figures. In light of the fact that spirits are low among the residents of the occupied territories, Zionist officials know that the release of correct figures will definitely do irreparable damage to the morale of the Zionist community.

The invasion of Gaza was officially said to be aimed at eliminating the Palestinian rocket threat, but that objective was never met and Zionist media have admitted that Mossad has been unable to spot Palestinian rocket launchers.

6. Besides victories on the military front, the Ramadhan war constituted other achievements for the Palestinians which will come to light in the future. For the first time during this recent war, anti-war rallies were held in the occupied territoriesand divisions within leaders of the Zionist regime became more and more apparent.

The war has carried a hefty price tag for the Zionist regime too. For instance, Haaretz, an Israeli newspaper, has quoted officials as estimating that the cost of the war in its first two weeks ran to $585 million. The overall cost is estimated to rise to $2.3 billion to $2.9 billion, between 0.75% and 1% of the [Israeli] GDP. By admission of Zionist officials, tourism, a major source of revenue for Tel Aviv, has suffered as much as $500 million in losses and the long-term impact of the war on Israel’s economy will only come to surface in the long run.

7. Last but not least, although Western leaders have either kept silent in the face of Israeli atrocities or thrown their weight behind the Zionist regime, the support people around the world lent to the Palestinian cause proved that the public diplomacy of the movement has been successful.

What was mentioned above was just part of the achievements of the resistance movement. What is clear here is that as the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Ali Khamenei] has said, “Stiff armed resistance is the only way to deal with this regime. Palestinians need to act firmly in the face of the Zionist regime.

What is the Israeli pounding of the Gaza Strip aimed at? Is Tel Aviv really pursuing military goals in its relentless assault on the Palestinian enclave? A July 26th issue of Sharq Newspaper quotes Nasser Fakouhi, a University of Tehran professor, as saying that the offensive against Gaza is not merely geared toward military purposes. Here is an excerpt of the article by Dr. Fakouhi:

The Israeli bombardment of Gaza continues day in, day out, an unconscionable act of cruelty that hurts every conscious human being. […] Many might wonder what these unbelievable acts of cruelty are aimed at. Is Israel really pursuing military goals? If that is the case, why isn’t it opting for the traditional method – read state-sponsored terrorism and targeted killing of Hamas leaders it deems culpable – it has used since its inception? Why is it instead targeting urban areas and civilians?

Doesn’t the Israeli Right know that the images of death and destruction that are seen by people around the world will only ramp up pressure on all Jews and not simply Zionists? Doesn’t it know that those images will raise the specter of anti-Semitism in a Christian-majority Europe? Don’t the [Israeli] military and thepoliticians who are steering it know that such brutality will only serve as an impetus for growing Fascism in Europe and militarism in America? Don’t they know that such practices may give a shot in the arm to anti-Semitism in Europe and America, which have always acted anti-Semitic in the course of history?

Le Pen, the [former] leader of France’s far-right, is a notorious Fascist – who takes pride in his criminal record in Frances’s crackdown on the Algerian freedom movement and never hides his anti-migration and anti-Islamic feelings, and actually uses them to secure more votes for his party – was among the first to condemn the Israeli attacks on Gaza. In his condemnation the line between Judaism and Zionism was clearly blurred. And in anti-Israeli demonstrations held across the world these days, radical elements are shouting anti-Jewish together with anti-Zionist slogans and surprisingly draw little objection. […]

That raises the question as to why Israel is forging ahead with what it is doing. Without wanting to be dragged into conspiracy theories, I believe that since the creation of Israel, a military fortress one can hardly call a country, anti-Semitism has always lent this regime legitimacy, and propped up the militaristic and ultra-rightist arguments within Israel against pacifists and those who favor reconciliation. […]

Israeli failure to recognize a Palestinian state does need permanent justification. And nothing could guarantee the legitimacy in question as much as the specter of anti-Semitism could. A specter which seems much happy these days and is cheering Israel for the crimes it is committing. The stance prominent Jewish thinkers such as Noam Chomsky and Judith Butler have taken against Israeli crimes shows that shrewd Jewish observers know well where this strategic game is leading, but unfortunately a vast majority of ordinary Jews have easily been caught in this snare.

Growing anti-Semitism might lead to encouragement of Jews to migrate to the “only safe place” for Jews on earth. That comes despite the fact that one can easily describe Israel as the least safe place for Jews on earth. The Israeli apartheid is bent on proving the theory of Zion, the Promised Land. To that end, all it needs to do is to bring together all hardliners from around the world and deny the public, as much as possible, the opportunity to think clearly and thus hold off the restoration of peace, justice and tranquility to a region where followers of Abrahamic faiths have co-existed for thousands of years. Maybe that is the reason why Israel is subjecting the innocent people of Palestine to so much cruelty.

In a Monday telephone conversation with his Emirati counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Zarif said, “the Zionist regime [of Israel] has carried out an all-out opportunistic attack on Gaza by taking advantage of the siege conditions.”

The top Iranian diplomat said that the establishment of ceasefire in Gaza should meet the demands of the Palestinians, including the removal of the siege on the Gaza Strip and ensuring a permanent halt to Israeli attacks.

The Emirati foreign minister, for his part, expressed hope that the continuation of coordinated and joint efforts by the influential countries in the region would contribute to an immediate halt to Israel’s offensive against the people of Gaza.

As part of his diplomatic efforts, the Iranian foreign minister has held telephone conversations with Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton and Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Madani to discuss the latest developments in Gaza.

The Iranian minister also held separate phone talks with his Italian, Turkish, Qatari, Kuwaiti and Egyptian counterparts to exchanged views on the situation in Gaza and the ways to deliver relief aid to the Gazans.

The Palestinian death toll from more than 20 days of aerial and ground assaults on Gaza now stands at over 1,060, with more than 6,000 people injured.

The Tel Aviv regime confirms that 43 Israelis have been killed in the Gaza war. However, Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, says Palestinian resistance fighters have killed around 100 Israeli soldiers.

Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Iran’s Majlis Alaeddin Boroujerdi on Monday pointed to the Israeli regime’s brutalities against the Gazans during a 12-hour UN-brokered ceasefire, describing the attacks as the “flagrant examples of war crimes”.

“These incidents showed that the Zionists officially committed genocide and killed innocent people, particularly children and women,” Boroujerdi said.

Stating that the Israeli leaders must be prosecuted by an international court for committing genocide, the Iranian lawmaker further called on the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to take necessary action to put an end to Israel’s crimes against Palestinians.

“Given the United Nations and its secretary general [Ban Ki-moon]’s alignment with the Zionist regime [of Israel]’s policies, different countries of the world, particularly the members of NAM, should, in a collective decision-making move, boycott those UN-affiliated human rights institutions and withdraw their membership,” the Iranian legislator said.

Boroujerdi further said the unwavering support of the US and its Western allies for Israel has emboldened Tel Aviv to continue its constant aggression against the besieged Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian death toll from 20 days of aerial and ground assaults on Gaza now stands at over 1,060, with more than 6,000 people injured.

The Tel Aviv regime confirms that 43 Israelis have been killed in the Gaza war. However, Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, says Palestinian resistance fighters have killed around 100 Israeli soldiers.

“We have no doubt to help the people of Gaza. At present, Gazan fighters have good capabilities to meet their weapons demand, although we had provided them with the technology when they were in need of weapons technology,” Larijani said in an exclusive interview with Al-Alam news channel on Thursday.

He also criticized certain Arab and Islamic states for not assisting Palestinians in their resistance against the regime of Israel.

War crime

The speaker also called the ongoing deadly Israeli attacks on the Besieged Gaza and targeting hospitals and schools “a war crime”

Larijani also noted that the Israeli regime uses internationally banned weapons against the Gazans.

The speaker’s comments came as the death toll from more than two weeks of Israel’s relentless attacks on Gaza passed 805.

NGOs say Palestinian civilians, including a large number of women and children, comprise around 80 percent of total casualties.

Since July 8, Israeli warplanes have been pounding numerous sites in the Gaza Strip, demolishing houses and burying families in the rubble. Israeli tanks also began a ground offensive against the impoverished Palestinian land on July 17.

In response, Palestinian resistance fighters have continued to fire a barrage of rockets into the occupied Palestinian territories.

Israel’s military fatalities stand at 32 with one trooper missing. More than 130 soldiers have been hospitalized, according to Israeli media.

Many demonstrations have so far been held across the world in support of the Palestinians living in the blockaded strip.

Zarif discusses Gaza with Nasrallah, Madani

In a phone conversation with Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, Zarif pointed to recent comments by Iran’s Leader on the eve of International Quds Day who underlined necessity of support for Palestinian resistance against Israeli regime.

The two sides warned against sectarian conflict in the region and described it as a plot to weaken the Islamic world. Zarif and Nasrallah urged unity and awareness among Muslim countries to prevent this plot and protect their own interests.

They also emphasized on demands of Palestinians in Gaza Strip, particularly removal of blockade, and urged for routes to send humanitarian aids to the besieged enclave immediately.

Zarif said Iran has made huge efforts to use diplomacy as head of NAM as well as parliamentarian diplomacy to put an end to Israeli atrocities in Gaza.

Hezbollah leader also mentioned Ayatollah Khamenei’s speech and called on Palestinian factions to unite against the Zionist regime. “Israeli brutal atrocities has caused a human crisis which is evident war crime and crime against humanity,” Nasrallah added.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Javad Zarif called secretary general of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss Gaza situation on the eve of Eid al-Fitr.

Pointing to brutal killing of women and children, Zarif stated that “any truce should include removal of blockade on Gaza and should guarantee a cessation to Israeli attacks.”

He also urged for sending medical and humanitarian aids as a priority for Gaza.

Secretary General Iyad Madani also appreciated efforts by Iran to support Palestinians. He announced readiness of OIC to take part in talks in regional and global level to work for an end to conflict in Gaza Strip.

Both sides called on influential OIC members to step up their efforts open Rafah crossing and remove the siege on Gaza.
