Iran Embarks on Mass Production of New Ballistic Missile

Manufacturing of the homegrown ballistic missile coincides with the Sacred Defense Week, which marks the onset of the Iraqi imposed war on Iran 36 years ago.

Zolfaqar runs on solid fuel and can hit the targets with pin-point accuracy in a range of 750 kilometers.

The tactical missile, which is capable of evading jamming signals in electronic warfare, will come into service by the end of the current Iranian year, in March 2017.

Zolfaqar enjoy a cluster warhead capable of hitting targets spread over the ground.

The new homegrown missile was unveiled during Wednesday’s nationwide parades marking the Sacred Defense Week.

The first images of the test-fire of the missile has been release by the Iranian defense ministry’s official website.

In recent years, the Islamic Republic of Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and has attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems.

Tehran has repeatedly assured other nations that its military might poses no threat to the regional countries, saying that the Islamic Republic’s defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.

Iran’s Defense Ministry on Sunday released video of the latest homegrown ballistic missile, Zolfaqar, being launched and hitting a target.

The video shows Zolfaqar moving upward with a thick vapor trail and then detonating a target in the middle of a desert area.

Russia Seriously Looking for Iran’s Help in Gaining Know-How of Long-Range Drones

General Bagheri

“Today, long-range drones identify and shoot their targets with a great precision, and only one or two countries are capable of making such drones,” Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri said on Sunday, September 25.

“Even Russians are seriously looking for our help to gain the know-how of long-range drones,” he noted, as reported by Tasnim and translated by IFP.

“Of course the US has the technology, and Israelis also enjoy the achievement thanks to the Americans,” he went on to say.

He further noted that many of these sciences have been achieved during wars.

“After the Sacred Defence (Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s), when I studied geography, I found that the scientific depth achieved in Operation Valfajr 8, where almost 15 battalions crossed that river, has yet to be experienced anywhere in the world, and no one has its know-how,” he said.

“Even the current war in Syria and Iraq against terrorists can be a competition for the production of knowledge,” General Baqeri said.

A Canadian Minister Born in Iran’s Mashhad

Globe and Mail recently revealed that the Canadian Democratic Institutions Minister Maryam Monsef was not born in Afghanistan’s Herat, as she had earlier announced.

Monsef in a statement responded to the Globe and Mail’s report, saying that she feels responsible towards Canadian people and is transparent about her roots.

Here is the full text of her statement, as covered by Entekhab:

“Today, The Globe and Mail published an article outlining that I was in fact born in Mashhad, Iran and not in Herat, Afghanistan – as I was led to believe for my whole life.

Because I know my story has resonated with many Canadians, I wanted to take the time today to clear any misconceptions this may have unintentionally caused.

In recent days, my mother told me for the first time that my sisters and I were in fact born in Mashhad, Iran, approximately 200 kilometres from the Afghan border.

Maryam MonsefFollowing my parents’ wedding in Herat, the local security situation became untenable. The town was severely damaged by war and thousands were killed.  No longer safe in their home town, my parents decided not to take risks and went to Mashhad, Iran, where they could be safe – with the hope of soon returning to the place their families called home for generations. While we were technically safe in Iran, we did not hold any status there and like the thousands of other Afghan refugees, we were not afforded all of the same rights and privileges given to Iranian citizens. After my father’s death, we travelled back and forth between Afghanistan and Iran when the security situation permitted it.

My sisters and I asked my mother why she never told us we were born in Iran. She told us she did not think it mattered. We were Afghan citizens, as we were born to Afghan parents, and under Iranian law, we would not be considered Iranian citizens despite being born in that country.

Some survivors believe healing comes from telling their story; others cannot fathom revisiting the past. My mother never talked about the unspeakable pain that conflict and terror inflicted on her. This week my sisters and I asked her to re-live that pain.

Conflict has robbed me of a father and it has scarred my family and I for life. We thankfully found a welcoming home in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, where we began the challenging and difficult process of resettlement.

Coming to Canada as a refugee – twenty years strong – and now a member of Cabinet in the 42nd Parliament – I feel a tremendous deal of responsibility in upholding all that this great country has allowed me to become. This includes accountability to the public and transparency.

Canada has played an important role in allowing me to become who I am today. It’s the only place I’ve ever truly felt I belonged, and I couldn’t be more proud to be Canadian.”

Speaker: Iran, Kenya Share Similar Views on Fighting Terrorism

larijani

Speaking at a joint press conference with his Kenyan counterpart in Tehran on Saturday, Larijani said they discussed a range of issues in a morning meeting, including terrorist attacks in the Middle East and East Africa.

“We and Kenya have very close views on the fight against terrorism,” Larijani told reporters, expressing the hope that more bilateral negotiations would strengthen mutual cooperation in countering terrorism.

According to the Iranian speaker, Saturday’s talks with Justin Muturi also focused on economic relations between Tehran and Nairobi, including cooperation in industry, oil and gas projects, agriculture, pharmaceutical industries and medical equipment.

Expansion of relations with African nations in various fields is top on the agenda of Iran’s foreign policy.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has repeatedly stressed his administration’s interest in boosting relations with African states.

US Apologizes to Bashar Assad for Airstrike on Syrian Troops

barack obama

“Yes, they [the US] have apologized” for the airstrike on Syrian troops, which killed dozens, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said during an interview with the TV channel Rossiya-1, as reported by Sputnik.

On September 16, airplanes from the US-led coalition against ISIS hit Syrian army positions at a military airport near Deir ez-Zor, which is besieged by the terrorist group.

Lavrov also referred to a recent attack on UN humanitarian convoy in Syria, and stressed that, for objective probe in incident, it is necessary to find and examine ammunition used to hit the convoy.

In order for the investigation of the incident with the humanitarian convoy in Syria to be considered objective, the ammunition used on it must be shown, Lavrov said.

“Now it is necessary to conduct an investigation. Probably the easiest way and the very first step that should be made is to [examine] the ammunition that was used [during the attack] on the convoy,” Lavrov went on to say.

“First there appeared information claiming it was hit with artillery, and then this information disappeared. After that people spoke about helicopters; I think everyone would be able to understand what happened if we were able to see the ammunition.”

A UN-Syrian Arab Red Crescent convoy carrying humanitarian aid for Syria’s Aleppo province was attacked late on Monday, according to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

As a result, 18 of 31 trucks were destroyed and at least 21 individuals were killed. Humanitarian convoys expected to travel on Castello road to Syria’s Aleppo are threatened by armed groups controlling eastern Aleppo, Lavrov said.

“The Syrian government has confirmed its readiness to cooperate on the issue. But the same day, those who control eastern Aleppo and call themselves ‘the local council’ said that if the convoy went via Castello road they would attack it,” Lavrov noted.

Millions of Syrian people remain in urgent need of humanitarian aid that cannot be delivered due to continuous fighting.

According to the United Nations, around two million people need humanitarian assistance in the Syrian city of Aleppo, which has seen intense fighting in the past several weeks.

Several western officials, including the ones from the White House, have blamed the attack on Russia and Syria. However, the Russian authorities have refuted the allegations.

Chief of ISIS Prisons Killed in Airstrike

ISIS

According to a report by Mehr, as translated by IFP, a local source in Nineveh Province announced that ‘Abu Umar’, the person in charge of the terrorist group’s prisons, has been killed in the airstrike.

Abu Umar, who was close to the ISIS leader Abubakr al-Baghdadi, was slain along with some of his companions in the late hours of Friday night, September 23, Al Sumaria News reported.

As the operation to liberate the ISIS-held Mosul is expected to be carried out in the near future, the extremist group’s leaders and elements are being killed one by one.

Clinton Left Classified Data in Russian Hotel during State Secretary Trip

hillaryclinton

The documents, released on Friday, September 23, and cited by ABC News, show that when Clinton was on a trip to Russia while serving as US secretary of state, her aide brought a classified briefing book into the hotel suite. The classified documents were left behind when the aide and Clinton left the room.

According to the FBI documents, the briefing book should not have been brought into the hotel suite in Russia. Most of Clinton’s emails recovered by the FBI will reportedly not be made public until after the US presidential elections in November, as reported by Sputnik.

The Judicial Watch has filed a lawsuit demanding that all 14,900 of Clinton’s emails uncovered by the FBI be released.

In 2014, Clinton released over 55,000 emails to US State Department investigators, stating that the documents contained only work-related information. She has admitted to erasing 33,000 emails.
