In a Tuesday statement, Ahmad Jamal said recent remarks by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu highlight Ankara’s “narrow-minded and sectarian” approach toward the realities in Iraq and the country’s anti-terrorism campaign.

During a recent visit to Bahrain, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reportedly accused Iran of seeking to destabilize Iraq and Syria.

Before Erdogan’s remarks, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, who had taken part at the Munich Security Conference on Sunday, criticized what he called an Iranian “sectarian policy” aimed at undermining Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

Turkish FM's Anti-Iran Remarks Based on 'Sectarian' Approach: Iraq

The remarks by the Turkish officials came despite the fact that Ankara is widely known as a staunch supporter of militants wreaking havoc in Syria, providing them with money and arms as well as free passage through Turkish soil to Syria.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Bahram Qassemi, has dismissed as unconstructive Cavusoglu’s anti-Iran claims, saying Turkey and certain other “delusional” countries are responsible for instability and insecurity in the Middle East.

Iran also summoned the Turkish Ambassador to Tehran Reza Hakan Tekin on Monday over the remarks by Turkey’s president and foreign minister against the Islamic Republic.

Iran has been providing military advisory support to both Iraq and Syria in their campaign against terrorism at the request of the two countries’ governments.

The Islamic Republic was among the first countries to help Iraq when the Daesh terrorist group unleashed a campaign of death and destruction in the northern and western parts of the Arab country in 2014.

At the meeting, the Iranian minister said Tehran and Islamabad enjoy “good political relations,” adding that the two neighbors are set to implement projects in different economic sectors, including power transmission, energy, banking, customs and cross-border exchanges.

“It is expected that such relations would be boosted and the implementation of projects accelerated through joint efforts so that the two countries would witness even greater development of economic relations, which are beneficial to the two states and the region as well,” Zarif said.

The two sides also conferred on the latest developments in the region, ways to counter al-Qaeda and ISIS terrorist groups, the situation in Afghanistan and trilateral cooperation among Tehran, Islamabad and Kabul.

The Pakistani minister, for his part, said regional countries must strengthen their cooperation in the campaign against terrorism, adding that Pakistan has adopted measures to prevent the recurrence of such terrorist incidents.

Multiple terrorist attacks have rocked Pakistan over the past few days. More than 70 people were killed and over 150 others injured in a huge bomb explosion at a shrine in the town of Sehwan in Sindh Province on February 16.

The ISIS Takfiri group claimed responsibility for the attack.

As regards bilateral ties, the Pakistani foreign minister supported the acceleration of the implementation of joint economic projects with Iran.

Shiite-Sunni Unity Boosts Middle East Security: Iranian Minister

Seyyed Mahmoud Alavi

During a conference on the role of Islamic unity in the establishment of sustainable regional security held in the western Iranian city of Sanandaj on Tuesday, Alavi said Muslims must reinforce their unity in order to create a Middle East region free of violence.

“There is no need for enmity among Muslims, because we have a cancerous tumor called the usurping [regime of] Israel in the region,” the Iranian intelligence minister said.

He, however, emphasized that Israel moves closer to collapse every day.

Alavi said enemies seek to sow discord among Muslims, knowing that united Muslim nations cannot be defeated.

He noted that Shiite and Sunni Muslims in Iran are united, saying such unity has increased the country’s security despite widespread insecurity in regional countries, including Turkey, Iraq and Pakistan, and even in Europe and the US.

“The enemy has made its utmost effort to cause insecurity in the country but it has failed,” the Iranian minister said.

Daesh product of US-Israeli plot

Elsewhere in his remarks, Alavi said the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group is the product of an American-Israeli plot and the terrorist group was created with the purpose of sowing discord among Muslims to guarantee the Israeli regime’s security.

The Islamic Republic never associates the issue of Takfiris with Sunni Muslims, he added.

In a bid to stir sectarian strife among Muslims, some Western media have sought to depict the Daesh Takfiri group as Sunni militants; however, Sunni Muslims have been among victims of atrocious attacks by the terrorist group, which is mainly active in Iraq and Syria.

Issue of Palestine Should Not Be Consigned to Oblivion

motahari

The sixth International Conference on Palestinian Intifada is being held in Tehran, on February 21 and 22. “Together Supporting Palestine” is the motto of this conference.

“Overall, the issue of Palestine is an essential subject,” said Ali Motahari, the vice-speaker of Iran’s parliament.

“Under current circumstances, however, it is a matter of much greater urgency because the conflicts between different troops in the Middle East, Muslims included, overshadow it,” he noted, according to a Farsi report by ICANA.

He also referred to the presidency of Trump, who seemingly sides more with Israel, among the reasons why further attention should be paid to the issue of Palestine.

Motahari then thanked the conference organizers for taking such an accurate, necessary action. “Palestine must not be forgotten. It is an Islamic ideal that should be kept alive until Palestine and the holy Quds are liberated.”

He pointed that Israel is supporting such terrorists as ISIS to divert attention away from the Palestine issue, saying, “Israel pretends to be against the ISIS terrorist group; however, its actions and goals demonstrate its secret cooperation with terrorist groups.”

“Actually Iran has the upper hand in the region,” he remarked. “It has been successful, and the Axis of Resistance made notable advances after the liberation of Aleppo and the defeat of terrorists in Iraq. So we should be optimistic about the future of Islamic resistance in the region,” he went on to say.

Intifada Conference Excellent Opportunity to Highlight Palestine Issue

Amoli Larijani

Iran’s Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani says the crimes committed by the Zionist regime of Israel against the innocent people of Palestine are, in fact, felonies against all Muslims.

The 6th International Conference on Palestinian Intifada in Tehran on February 21 and 22 would be a favourable opportunity for the Islamic Republic of Iran, as the flag-bearer of the movement to support Palestine, to, once again, attract Muslims’ attention to this innocent nation, he went on to say.

According to an IFP report, Ayatollah Amoli Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with top Iranian judiciary officials.

On certain Arab states’ evident interactions and transactions with the Zionist regime, he said this conspicuous, yet concealed, closeness of a number of so-called Islamic governments with the Zionist regime is an ultimate treason.

“Highlighting these countries’ betrayal is another issue to be addressed in this conference.”

Rouhani’s Administration Should Give More Decisive Answer to US Threats

Commenting on the fresh round of sanctions imposed by the US on Iran, Ayatollah Amoli Larijani said the anti-Iran threats uttered by US statesmen corroborates the truthfulness of the remarks repeatedly made by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei concerning the US unreliability.

Although the US statesmen claim that their [recent] moves have not violated the nuclear deal between Iran and world powers, regrettably, the country has not been committed to the agreement, he added.

“The US and its servile followers are all our enemies. They will not hesitate to deal blows to us in case they feel they have identified any weak point. We are required to give a resolute and clear-cut response to their threats,” the Judiciary chief added.

“Although we are grateful to Rouhani’s government and, particularly, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif, for adopting appropriate stances towards the US officials’ menaces, we maintain that they are required to give a more decisive response to the enemies when the time is ripe, so that the adversaries understand that the Iranian nation is committed to fulfilling its aspirations and will never give up on what is related to its honour and independence.”

Natural Disasters Happen All over the World

On the floods hitting a number of Iranian provinces, particularly, in southern parts, Ayatollah Amoli Larijani said the people expect the government to immediately come to the aid of their compatriots in the disaster-stricken areas and, more importantly, take preventive measures through technical and expert meetings, to minimise the damages to be caused by future natural disasters.

“Natural calamities take place all over the world. They are not controlled by human beings. However, we expect the respected government to use its facilities and resources and enhance its crisis management to be able to provide the victims of natural disasters with emergency assistance and take effective preventive measures prior to such sad events,” he added.

Turkey Wants to Redeem Itself in Syria Issue: Analyst

In an exclusive interview with IFP, Hossein Sheikholeslam, a former Iranian ambassador to Syria and an advisor to Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, says the Astana talks aimed at settling the Syria crisis are going well.

He also noted the negotiations are a good opportunity for Ankara to make up for its past mistakes.

Here is the full text of his remarks in the Farsi interview:

The achievements made in the course of the Syria peace talks in Astana, Kazakhstan, are the result of a balance established in the wake of the resistance front’s victory against militants in Aleppo, Syria. Until government forces made gains in Aleppo, terrorists, and their advocates were hopeful about Syria’s disintegration.

When Aleppo was besieged, sponsors of the terrorists trapped there had two options. One option was for them to concede defeat and relocate the militants to Idlib in order to save all the investment they had made in training and equipping the terrorists over the past six years. Of course, this is the policy we have been pursuing from the outset: To relocate all militants to Idlib and later on consider what to do about the situation. Well, this is an important issue which we won’t discuss for now.

The second choice was to stay where they were and finally be massacred. Well, they went for the first option.

Therefore, they gathered in Idlib, entered into negotiations and settled for a truce. No talks like the ones in Astana have ever resulted in a ceasefire.

Those who were against a ceasefire and believed war and bloodshed should continue in Syria did not attend the Astana talks. Only those are present in the negotiations who believe a ceasefire should be put in place one way or another.

Some of the sponsors of terrorists opted for talks just in order to save the investment they had made in militants and also for fear of their future.

So I believe a great opportunity has opened up for Turkey to make up for its past mistakes, of course provided that it recognizes Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and respect Syrian people’s right to self-determination.

For now, Turkey has been somehow cooperative as it accepted these principles in a Moscow meeting attended by the foreign ministers of Iran, Russia and Turkey. Turkey reiterated its position in the first round of Astana talks, and the second round of negotiations in Astana in fact stabilized the ceasefire.

The opposition groups and militants were present in the talks, and to my knowledge, the atmosphere during the early hours of the first round of Astana talks was somehow chaotic. The climate there has ameliorated, which means the negotiations are making progress.

US, Saudi Arabia and Qatar Have No Role in Syria Talks.

The US has come to a point where it begs Russia to allow it to attend the negotiations. Moscow consults with us, suggesting maybe Washington could be invited as an observer. Of course, we are against the US participation in the talks.

The Syrian government, Turkey, Russia, Iran and resistance forces play a determining role in the Syria issue, and the ones that will have the final say in determining their future will be Syrian people.

Nuclear Deal Repudiation to Take Everything Back to Square One: Iranian Speaker

larijani

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said the US cancellation of the nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) — signed between Iran and P5+1 — will take everything back to square one.

Speaking in an interview with Lebanon-based Al Mayadeen, Larijani further pointed to Tehran-Moscow relations and said the Islamic Republic is moving towards forming a strategic coalition with Russia in the region.

According to a Farsi report by ICANA, he also elaborated on Iran’s negotiations with Arab states, particularly Saudi Arabia, and noted, “Iran welcomes talks with Arab countries, particularly Saudi Arabia.”

Larijani added that Tehran, however, will not set any precondition for such dialogues and will not agree to any condition laid down by the other side.

Living in White House Giving Trump Headaches!

trump

The presidential lifestyle is giving Trump headaches and frustration, a White House advisor tells Axios’ Mike Allen.

Trump is irked that he can’t dine out on a regular basis like he used to in Trump Tower, handsomely situated on Midtown Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue, Allen reports.

Trump’s wife Melania and son Barron have remained living in the Trump Tower penthouse for now, Daily Mail reported.

Trump himself has spent several weekends away since taking office on January 20, at Mar-a-Lago, his ritzy Florida getaway.

Iranian Taxi Drivers Protest against E-Hailing Apps

snapp-tap30

A group of taxi drivers gathered before the Iranian Parliament on Monday, February 21, to voice their protest against the mobile apps Snapp and Tap30 belonging to two e-hailing companies that offer services to citizens of Tehran.

According to a Farsi report by ISNA, the protesters held placards that urged the Parliament to inspect the operation of these two transport companies.

They considered this type of activity as illegal, questioning the security and reliability of these taxis.

With over 25,000 drivers, these online apps offer their services with prices much lower than yellow taxis. This is outraging the traditional drivers as more and more people are using the apps.
