Blue Mosque of Tabriz: Magnificence of 15th-Century Architecture

Blue Mosque of Tabriz, Iran

Blue Mosque was constructed in 1465 upon the order of Jahan Shah, the ruler of Kara Koyunlu. It was severely damaged in an earthquake in 1779, leaving only the iwan (entrance hall).

Iran’s Cultural Heritage Organization is now renovating the beautiful mosque, preparing it for tourists who will be visiting the city of Tabriz, the capital of Muslim world in 2018.

Here are Mizan’s photos of the Blue Mosque:

Several newspapers today covered the important remarks by Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, the Iranian deputy foreign minister and former nuclear negotiator, in his address to Moscow Non-Proliferation Conference. Araqchi said if the nuclear deal fails, the NPT will also fail. This seems to imply that Iran will stop implementing NPT if the other side violates the JCPOA.

Another top story was President Hassan Rouhani’s picks for ministries of energy and science, who were proposed to the Parliament and will be vetted within the coming week. Reformists in recent days expressed great dissatisfaction with Rouhani’s decision to propose Mansour Gholami as the science minister, describing him as a politician close to conservatives. This is while Gholami claims to be a reformist, and conservatives believe that he is close to reformists, while being a logical option for the post.

A number of papers also highlighted the remarks made by First Vice-President Es’haq Jahangiri about the presence of American companies in Iran. Jahangiri stressed that there is no limit for their presence in Iranian economy, and it is the US administration that deprives their commercial firms from doing business with the Islamic Republic.

Iranian Girls Commit Suicide under Influence of Blue Whale Game

Police Chief of Isfahan province says the girls, who were 16 and 15 years old, jumped off Shahid Chamran pedestrian bridge under the influence of the Blue Whale game.

One of them is dead and the other seriously wounded, according to media reports.

The Blue Whale suicide game is believed to be a social media group which is encouraging people to kill themselves.

Last month, Iran’s ICT Minister Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi wrote in an Instagram post that the game is inspired by “satanic ideas” and his ministry will try to prevent its penetration to Iran in order to protect the country’s youth.

“Today, we will negotiate with managers of the [Russian] VK social network for non-proliferation of violence,” Azari Jahromi wrote on his Instagram page on September 7. “We will try to do this, despite the fact that this social network is blocked in Iran.”

Iranian Girls Commit Suicide under Influence of Blue Whale Game“Blue Whale” came to prominence in May 2016 through an article in Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta that linked many unrelated child suicides to membership of group “F57” on the Russian-based VKontakte social network. A wave of moral panic swept Russia following the article.

The horrifyingly dangerous game has been linked to hundreds of teen deaths across the world, particularly in Russia, where the game has been developed. There are hundreds of thousands of posts relating to the sick trend on Instagram.

It’s thought a group administrator assigns daily tasks to members, which they have to complete over 50 days. The horrific tasks include self-harming, watching horror movies and waking up at unusual hours, but these gradually get more extreme. On the 50th day, the controlling manipulators behind the game reportedly instruct the youngsters to commit suicide.

US Needs ‘Mad Trump’ to Proceed with Regional Projects: Iranian General

safavi

Addressing a gathering of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) members in the central city of Qom, Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, a military aide to Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, said, “Trump is not a mad man but plays its role to pave the way for American strategists to press ahead with their projects in the Middle East.”

“The irrational strategy has been offered to Trump by Henry Kissinger because the US government needs such a mad man to press ahead with its project of coercing the international community into meeting American interests,” he noted, referring to Trump’s recent meeting with former US diplomat Kissinger.

According to a Farsi report by Tasnim News Agency, Rahim Safavi further noted that all the current chaotic scenarios in the region have been created by the global arrogance to put pressure on the Islamic Revolution.

The former IRGC chief-commander also said it is not possible to restore security and stability to the Middle East without Iran’s active participation in the regional plans.

He then referred to the defeats of ISIS in Syria and said the 80-month-old conflict in Syria is coming to an end with the final collapse of ISIS in the war-torn country. Rahim Safavi stressed that reconstructing Syria which has been razed to the ground during the war requires $400 billion.

He also referred to the latest independence referendum in the Iraqi Kurdistan and said the US plays a key role behind the curtain.

He also said ISIS had been seeking to  occupy the Iraqi city of Kirkuk due to its strategic location in Iraq and added today with the measures adopted by the Islamic resistance forces, the city enjoys security and stability.

“As reports by the US intelligence services reveal, by 2030 there would be no entity called Saudi government and Iran will have the upper hand in the region,” he added.

The Iranian commander also said today Iran is a regional player with high ideological penetration in the regional states. “The presence of resistance movements in the region shows Iran’s growing role in the region.”

Tabriz Invites Foreign Envoys to Visit Capital of Islamic Tourism

Tabriz

During a conference held by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in December 2016, Tabriz, the central city of East Azarbaijan Province, was selected by OIC member states as the capital of Islamic tourism in 2018, IRNA reported.

The selection is deemed by authorities to be a great opportunity to attract tourists both from across the country and the region.

With the approach of 2018, the officials of the province are implementing plans to attract more tourists during the event.

As part of the initiative, Majid Khodabakhsh, the governor general of East Azarbaijan, invited the ambassadors of China, Japan, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Georgia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Brunei for a two-day stay to introduce the attractions of the province.

“Boasting the titles World Crafts City and the City of the Firsts as well the world’s largest covered market alone would suffice to introduce Tabriz as an attractive destination to foreign tourists,” he added.

He stressed that besides cultural and historical potentials, the economic capacities of the city must also be highlighted.

“More than 4,000 industrial and manufacturing units and $1.8 billion worth of export from the province offer great potentials to attract foreign investors,” he added.

Khodabakhsh hoped that the ambassadors’ trip would contribute to a larger inflow of tourists to Tabriz and the province.

China’s ambassador, Pang Sen, said Tabriz has so many attractions that one cannot visit them all in two days but hoped that useful data can be collected, especially about the city’s handicrafts during this period.

Nematollah Emamzadeh, the Tajik ambassador who was on his fourth trip to Tabriz, underlined the prospects of expanding business relations with the province.

Tabriz hosts a number of famed religious sites, including Grand Mosque and Tabriz Citadel, as well as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Tabriz Bazaar. It has been declared a World Craft City by the World Craft Council, which, along with Isfahan, makes it one of Iran’s only two cities to boast the title.

East Azarbaijan enjoys more than 30 national intangible heritage inscriptions, 20 specialized and general museums, five inscribed natural sites and tens of other historical places as well as unique handicrafts that can draw a great number of domestic and foreign tourists.

‘Iran to Continue Supporting Those Fighting for Palestine Liberation’

‘Iran to Continue Supporting Those Fighting for Palestine Liberation’

Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani has sat down with Deputy Head of the Hamas Political Bureau Saleh al-Arouri.

In the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest developments regarding Palestinians’ resistance against the Israeli regime.

Shamkhani welcomed the recent election at the Political Bureau of Hamas, and said the trend indicates the existence of democracy and dynamism on the revolutionary path of this popular institution.

He stressed that Iran has, within the framework of its revolutionary and Islamic approach, always stood up for the cause of Palestine and supports figures who are hardworking and steadfast as ever in achieving the goal of fully liberating occupied Palestine.

He said fighting incessantly against the Israeli regime is a major policy and unchangeable strategy of the resistance front.

“Political and field measures are always adopted by resistance groups as tactical approaches to help promote the key strategy of ending Zionists’ occupation,” Shamkhani added.

He expressed hope that Hamas, as a leading institution in the axis of resistance, will maintain its status in fighting the occupation of the Israeli regime while maintaining its revolutionary approach.

Shamkhani expressed regret over the un-Islamic and inhumane actions by Takfiri groups and certain countries supporting them in the region, which has tarnished the brilliant image of Islam.

“Any move that would see the issue of Palestine lose its status as the number-one priority of the Muslim world, or would contribute to the compromise process or disregard for the rights of Palestinians, is considered as a betrayal of all Muslims and unforgivable,” he said.

Shamkhani urged the Muslim world to build a consensus again to realize its potential to support and defend Muslim Palestinians.

“The mass congregation of Arba’een, given its humane and anti-tyranny theme, can turn into the most important gathering of the world’s freedom-seekers against the Zionist regime [of Israel]” he said.

“The US and the Zionist regime [of Israel] feel threatened by the change of balance in the region in the interest of the people and governments involved in the war on terrorism, and seek to restrict the battle against terrorism by resorting to hollow pretexts such as blocking Iran’s influence in the region,” said Sahmkhani.

He then referred to the strategic influence of Iran’s contribution to the war on terrorism at the request of Iraqi and Syrian governments.

“The accusations and lies of the United States and the media outlets run by the hegemony system against the people in the region, who have gotten rid of the danger of terrorism and who consider Iran as their supporter against Takfiri groups, are worthless,” he said.

Al-Arouri, in turn, said he was pleased to be in Iran and meeting with the country’s top officials.

“In my first foreign trip after being chosen as the deputy head of the Hamas Political Bureau, I have come to Iran to both express my gratitude to the Islamic Republic of Iran for its determining support for Palestinian Muslims and to stress Hamas leaders’ determination to further enhance their cooperation with Iran.”

He referred to Imam Hussein (the third Shiite Imam of the Prophet Mohammad’s infallible Household) as the leader of the world’s freedom-seekers and those fighting tyrants.

“The issue of Palestine is a cause which goes beyond the Muslim world and all freedom-seekers around the world are pursuing the holy objective of extricating Palestinians from suffering and oppression.”

He condemned the inhumane and violent acts by Takfiri groups which, in the name of Islam, have done the most harm to the Muslim community and the brilliant face of this divine faith.

“Such actions will not only sideline the rightful struggles of the oppressed Palestinian people, but will definitely serve to achieve the objectives of the US, the Zionist regime and their supporters,” he said.

Certain Regional States Still Supporting Takfiri Terrorism: Iran

Iran Urges Collective Cooperation to Tackle Regional Security Challenges

“Takfiri terrorism which is unfortunately provided with financial and informational support by certain regional states is a great danger threatening the Islamic nations and states,” Shamkhani said on Saturday, adding that the nasty phenomenon can be coped with only through regional cooperation and adoption of joint measures.

He made the remarks in a message to his Afghan counterpart, in which he vehemently condemned the latest terrorist attacks in Afghanistan’s Kabul and Ghor. He also extended condolences to the families of the victims of the two separate attacks.

Shamkhani further noted that any cultural fight against the root beliefs and thoughts nurturing ISIS should be accompanied with security military measures and “the religious figures of the Muslim world, particularly those in the Islamic Republic of Iran and Afghanistan, can play a key role in this regard.”

He then expressed the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to send humanitarian aid to Afghanistan to help those wounded in the deadly attacks.

At least 72 civilians including children were killed in the attacks on two Shiite mosques in Kabul and the central province of Ghor. The attacks took place on Friday. Nearly 50 others were wounded.

EU’s Schmid Due in Iran for Talks on JCPOA, Energy

Speaking in a Saturday conference on non-proliferation in the Russian capital of Moscow, Schmid declared that she will visit Iran in November to discuss the nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers, officially known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Schmid said she also plans to confer with Iranian officials on energy issues, the Interfax reported.

Meanwhile, she emphasized Iran’s missiles are not a subject of discussions on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, and this issue should be discussed in a different format.

She also referred to the claims by US President Donald Trump about Iran’s non-compliance with the nuclear deal, and described it as a consequence of the US inner political situation.

“It cannot influence implementation of the agreement,” she stressed.

There is no alternative to the nuclear deal, and repudiating the deal would “negatively impact European security”, she was quoted as saying by Interfax news agency.

Brussels will do its utmost to preserve the landmark agreement, Schmid said.

Schmid also posted photos of her participation in the Moscow non-proliferation conference in a post in her Twitter, and said, “Clear message: Iran nuclear deal is working and delivering, this is why the EU will continue to support and protect.”
