Iran Condemns US for Killing Iranian-American Citizen

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) confirmed Bijan Ghaisar who had sustained injuries in the head after the US forces fired three bullets at him in Virginia about two weeks ago succumbed to death Monday night (November 27).

In a letter to the UN secretary general and Human Rights High commissioner, Iran’s High Council of Human Rights said the US government must provide a convincing response over Ghaisar’s death to the world’s public opinion, a Farsi report by Mehr News Agency said.

The Iranian rights body also urged the UN to take seriously such stark human rights violations. “Based on the international rights principles as well as globally accepted documents particularly the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, each person enjoys a natural right to live which must be protected by law.”

The council also called on the Swiss embassy in Tehran to announce Iran’s strong protest over the heinous killing of the Iranian national by the US forces to Washington.

 

Iran Foreign Ministry Seriously Pursuing the Issue

Iranian foreign ministry spokesman on Wednesday expressed deep regret over the heinous murder by the US police, saying the Islamic Republic is seriously pursuing the issue.

In a statement, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi strongly condemned the US police brutality, and expressed sympathy with the family of the young man.

“The Iranian foreign ministry is seriously investigating into the issue to protect the rights of Iranian citizens through the official channels available as soon as possible,” he added.

Bijan Ghaisar was a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and his family describes him as a “kind and gentle soul”. The family added in a statement “the reason for the murder of our son has yet to be determined, though no reasoning could possibly justify the actions of the one or more Park Police officers involved in this unthinkable act.”

Ghaisar was shot after police said that he was involved in a hit-and-run crash and then led police on a short chase into Fairfax County on the George Washington Memorial Parkway on Nov. 17.

Iran Football Federation, Iranian Futsal Player Praised at AFC Awards

During the awards ceremony on Wednesday, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Football Federation was elected as the AFC’s most inspiring member association. Mahdi Taj, the president of the federation, received the award.

Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran, who has enjoyed a dynamic and fruitful was named the AFC Inspiring Member Associations of the Year at the AFC Annual Awards 2017 in the Aksra Theatre King Power on Wedensday.

In their road to the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018, Iran were the first Asian nation to qualify early in June, while Persepolis reached the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League 2017.

Their club performances have had consistent improvements not only in football but futsal as well. Sanaye Giti Pasand had a perfect record to top Group C of the AFC Futsal AFC Futsal Club Championship Vietnam 2017, before a narrow 3-2 loss to Thailand’s Bluewave Chonburi to secure a runners-up spot.

On top of that, Iran were crowned winners in the inaugural AFC Beach Soccer Championship Malaysia 2017 in March to receive an automatic qualification to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Bahamas, where they finished third after losing 3-2 on penalties to Tahiti.

The prestigious award is given to a Member Association in recognition of its professional administration and governance as well its exceptional contribution to the development and promotion of the game at all levels within the country.

AFCHassanzadeh was also named the AFC Futsal Player of the Year for the third time following his brilliant performance at this year’s Asian competitions.

Hassanzadeh, who first won the AFC Futsal Player of the Year accolade in 2014 and then in 2016, has been instrumental in Iran’s achievements in recent years.

Currently playing for Giti Pasand in the Iranian Futsal Super League, Hassanzadeh has also won the AFC Futsal Club Championship on two occasions – in 2010 with Foolad Mahan and five years later whilst representing Tasisat Daryaei.

 

Iran FM Zarif to Visit Italy, Azerbaijan

According to Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi, Zarif will depart for Italy on Thursday to attend the third edition of Mediterranean Dialogues, which is due to be held in Rome.

The Iranian top diplomat, a keynote speaker in the conference, will make the visit at the official invitation of his Italian counterpart Angelino Alfano, he added.

“The conference is based on the four pillars of shared security, shared prosperity, migration, and civil society and culture,” Qassemi added.

Zarif will then leave Rome for Baku, the Azerbaijan Republic, on Friday to take part in the Heart of Asia Conference.

“Mainly focused on the issue of Afghanistan, the Heart of Asia Conference provides a framework for expansion of friendly and fruitful regional cooperation with the purpose of reinforcing regional peace and prosperity,” Qassemi said.

“The framework is created as a path to deal with the challenges and common interests of Afghanistan and its neighbours and regional partners,” Qassemi noted, adding that the Heart of Asia is annually held in one of the participating countries.

“The Heart of Asia Conference includes 14 participating countries, 17 supporting countries, and 12 international and regional supporting organizations,” he said, reiterating that FM Zarif will take part in the conference.

“Entire US within Range of New North Korean Missile”

State television said Pyongyang had achieved its mission of becoming a nuclear state.

The Hwasong-15 missile, described as its “most powerful”, was launched in darkness early on Wednesday.

It landed in Japanese waters but flew higher than any other missile the North had previously tested.

The test, which defied international sanctions imposed over the North’s weapons programme, drew swift international condemnation, with the UN Security Council due to convene an emergency session.

South Korea responded by carrying out live-fire exercises, launching one of its own ballistic missiles.

Iran Unveils Range of Newly-Developed Naval Equipment

The achievements were unveiled in the presence of Brigadier General Mohammad Hossein Dadras, the Army’s second-in-command on Wednesday.

The ceremony witnessed the unveiling of Otto fuel, which is combustible in the absence of oxygen, enabling the underwater propulsion of torpedoes. Torpedoes thus-propelled can be extended in range toward higher operational capability. The technology for the fuel’s production had so far been monopolized by the United States.

The conceptual and engineering design of the Persian Gulf training warship was also unveiled during the ceremony. The 135-meter-long and 16-meter-wide vessel is to be outfitted with the Navy’s latest technologies and equipment and can carry as many as 230 trainees.

Other advancements included the Mersad Project, featuring the designing and development of a comprehensive system needed for the testing of lightweight anti-submersible torpedoes; the Ra’d missile system’s testing mechanism, a sea-based missile system that can be used against all types of floating and flying targets.

The Damavand remote-controlled vessel fitted with anti-electronic warfare equipment was also unveiled. During combat, the vessel can be released from its naval unit and used to jam enemy radar, sonar, and fire control systems.

Nano material used for the covering the surface of vessels and naval equipment was also showcased. Application of such material helps reduce maintenance costs and contributes to the endurance of the objects it is used on.

Tuesday was Iran’s National Navy Day. During a meeting with Navy commanders and personnel on the day, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei hailed Iran’s naval defense achievements, underlining the need for the Navy to speed up its progress in various fields.

Israel’s Plots to Sideline Palestinian Cause Will Fail: Iran

“Nearly seventy years have passed since the occupation of the Palestinians’ lands and establishment of the aggressive regime of Zionism and during the time, the oppressed and defenceless nation of Palestine has seen nothing but aggression, violation, occupation, displacement, crime, killing, ethnic cleansing and apartheid,” Qassemi said in a Wednesday statement on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestine.

“The Palestinian nation has been deprived of its most basic and fundamental rights over the past decades, and only a few have stood by them and taken seriously their cries for justice during all these years,” he said.

“Emboldened by the international silence, the occupying regime of Israel has defied all the basic humanitarian and legal rights. The Israeli regime has not for a single moment stopped aggression, genocide, crimes against humanity and state terrorism, and has openly ridiculed the international peace and security.”

“As the experience of the previous decades reveals, resistance and legal defence is the only way to cope with the hegemony and greed of the occupying enemy, to put an end to the Zionists’ violations, to liberate the occupied territories, and to pave the way for the return of the Palestinian refugees to their homelands,” he went on to say.

“We maintain that a reference to the will of the Palestinian nation is a way out of the chronic crisis. Meanwhile, holding a referendum attended by all Palestinians including Muslims, Christians and the Jews is a just, legal and humanitarian suggestion based on the internationally accepted principles of the UN Charter to tackle the current problem,” he added.

Qassemi said the great nation of Iran has always expressed its solidarity with the Palestinians under all chaotic and difficult conditions of the occupied lands. Iran has never spared any effort to support the causes of the oppressed nation of Palestine.

“It goes without saying that the Iranian nation and government, as in the past years, will continue to support the Palestinians and their legal rights until the victory of the Palestinian nation and the liberation of the all occupied lands.”

OPEC to Renew Oil Freeze Pact: Iranian MP

Spokesman for the Iranian Parliament’s Energy Commission, Asadollah Qarakhani, referred to the upcoming OPEC summit meeting and said given the successes that the organization achieved through its oil freeze in the past years, the member states have come to the conclusion it is better to renew the plan and keep their production at the current level.

“At present, there is no accurate balance between supply and demand in the oil market and we have surplus production. The oil freeze pact has led to the increase of oil price surpassing 60 dollars. Even the Brent Crude price stands at $63. So, the member states have begun to hold talks to keep their oil production at the current level,” he was quoted as saying in a Farsi report by ICANA.

He referred to the increase of oil price in a number of markets, saying oil production has become cost-effective following the investments made in Canada and other regions. “So, oil production is on the rise in Canada and other parts of the world.”

The lawmaker also said at present the investors are not interested in investing in Shale oil due to its low price but if the price goes up, the investors will become more interested in investing in this field.

“Shale oil production sector will attract more technologies and investments if its price keeps going up. So, not only the US but also other countries will begin to invest in this field and consequently we will see an additional production of the oil in future,” he added.

Qarakhani said Saudi Arabia produces 10 million barrels of oil per day and added with the growing price of oil, the investors have become interested in investing in recycling sector which requires special technologies. “But the oil market needs to control the prices otherwise the consumers will turn to other alternatives like coal and renewable fuels.”

The lawmaker said at present oil price can’t be set more than 65 or 70 dollars and added if the price goes higher, the users will turn to other fuel markets and this will lead to a significant decrease of oil price.

Qarakhani said with the increase of oil price, the price of services in other relevant sectors including production, processing, equipment and engineering and technical services will also increase. “But the companies with low technical skills will be limited and this may cause them to increase the prices of other services to make up for their losses.”

The OPEC member states, Russia and nine other producers are cutting crude output by about 1.8 million barrels per day until March 2018, and on Thursday their oil ministers will discuss extending the deal.

OPEC’s head, Saudi Arabia, has signaled that it wants oil to be traded at about $60 a barrel as the kingdom prepares to list shares in its national oil company Aramco and fights a large fiscal deficit.

The price of oil plunged from near $120 a barrel in June 2014 due to weak demand. Many analysts say OPEC’s reluctance to cut output was also a key reason behind the fall. But, the oil cartel soon moved to curb production in late 2016.

Coriander Kebab: Traditional and Delicious

The food is comprised of little meatballs with gravy and is served with bread. Some people enjoy cutting the bread into pieces and putting it in the gravy to eat it like broth. Moreover, the coriander and dried limes in the food give it a pleasant and appetizing aroma.

 

Ingredients:

Minced beef: 500gr

Lentils: 200 gr

Onions: 2 average-size onions

Eggs: 2 eggs

Cleaned Coriander: 500 grs

Dried Limes: 6 limes

White flour: a tablespoonful

Liquid oil: as much as needed for frying

Salt, pepper, turmeric: as much as needed

 

Recipe:

  1. First, pour some water in a casserole and put the lentils in it after washing them. Then put the casserole on the oven for 45 minutes, allowing the lentils to be cooked through. Afterwards, put the cooked lentils in a basket, and put the water after cooking in another dish and put it away.
  2. Peel one of the onions and wash it. Put the minced beef and half of the onion in a mixer and mix them until they are mashed. Then put the mix in a bowl.

Now put the other half of the onion with the cooked lentils in the mixer and mix them until they are mashed, too. Then add the mix of mashed onion and lentils to the beef and onion already inside the bowl. Mix them with your hands well.

Then add salt, pepper and turmeric as much as necessary to give some taste to the whole thing. Now it comes to the eggs; break the eggs and add them to what is in the bowl and mix them well. Now the mix is ready to be shaped into meatballs. The reason why we add eggs is that they make the mix sticky and keep it from falling apart.

  1. Put some oil in a frying pan and put it on the flames until hot. Then form the mix into meatballs and fry them. Note that the meatballs must be a little bigger than walnuts. After all the meatballs are fried, put them away.
  2. Wash the cleaned coriander and put it in a basket. After it is drained, chop the coriander into large pieces.

Bring a small frying pan and put some oil in it. Put the pan on the oven until hot. Sauté the chopped coriander in the oil.

  1. After peeling the second onion, wash it before chopping them into small pieces. Then brings an average-size casserole, put a little oil in it and put on the flame.

Fry the chopped onion until it is golden in colour. Then add a spoonful of flour to it and mix it with the fried onion. Now sauté it.

Afterwards, add the lentil water and mix an additional cupful of water. Now, break the dried limes before piercing them with a fork. Now put them in the casserole.

After the water begins to boil and the dried limes inside get boiling, add the sautéd coriander and allow it to remain on the fire for 15 minutes. Then add the fried meatballs to the mix of dried limes and coriander and allow the whole thing to remain on the flame for another 4 to 5 minutes, so that the meatballs will be cooked through as well. Now the food is ready.

Riyadh Dismayed at Own Failures in Mideast, Seeking Cover-up: Iran

“Saudi Arabia’s first problem is its failures in the [Middle East] region, and that it wants to cover up these failures,” Rouhani said on Tuesday.

“Saudi Arabia was unsuccessful in Qatar, Iraq, Syria, and recently in Lebanon,” said Rouhani in a televised interview broadcast on state TV.

According to a Farsi report by Fars News Agency, he added that Saudi Arabia is grappling with domestic problems as well.

“Secondly, it is the country’s local problems. Saudi Arabia has acute domestic issues. We are witnessing divisions inside the country. They (Saudi rulers) want to single out a country as their enemy in order to cover up their failures and domestic issues,” said the president.

He also underlined that problems should be tackled tactfully.

“We should weather the problems skillfully. Of course, our country is in our own hands. But what is happening in other countries, and what government comes to power, and what experience it has, and who will be the head of state in the US in the future are not under our control,” President Rouhani noted.

He then underlined that Iran should take its national interests into consideration under any circumstances.

“We should remain on the watch and prepares ourselves,” he said.

President Rouhani then touched upon military might and diplomacy as the two elements required to counter possible threats, saying, “These two wings are necessary for us.”

He underlined that his administration seeks to boost both aspects.
