Legendary Singer Holds Benefit Concert for Iran Quake-Hit People

Legendary Singer Holds Benefit Concert for Iran Quake-Hit People

The concert was held at the Grand Hall of the Interior Ministry in Tehran on Monday and all the money raised by the concert was dedicated to the victims of the Kermanshah province earthquake.

An interesting feature of the concert was the presence of renowned Iranian cartoonist, Bozorgmehr Hosseinpour, who was drawing on the corner of the stage while Nazeri and the music ensemble were performing the concert.

Hosseinpour depicted an old man whose video has gone viral in social media over the recent days. In the video, the old man requests the Iranians in Kurdish language to lend him and his family a tent to stay in. He also vows to pay back the cost of the tent as soon as he can.

Hosseinpour’s drawing was later put on auction to raise more money for the quake-hit people.

hosseinpourAs Hosseinpour finished his drawing, Nazeri addressed the audiences shortly, saying, “My dears, I’m grateful to you for your kindness and brotherhood spirit. The great nation of Iran has shown at different occasions that they are pioneers when it comes to making critical decisions. The national unity urged Iranians from all walks of life to rush to help the quake-hit people of Kermanshah.”

Known as Knight of Iran’s vocal music, Nazeri is a contemporary Kurdish Iranian tenor from Kermanshah who sings classical music.

Meanwhile, all the organizers of the concert dedicated their revenues to the quake-hit people.

Following the devastating earthquake, numerous Iranian artists have announced that they would organize various programs to help the victims of the natural disaster.

Pop singer Farzad Farzin and rock star Reza Yazdani have pledged that they will dedicate part of the profit from their upcoming concerts to the victims.

The powerful earthquake killed over 444 people and hundreds of others.

Surgeon-cum-Referee Skips Match to Help Quake Victims

Surgeon-cum-Referee Skips Match to Help Quake Victims

Orthopedist Bijan Heidari reminds us, more than anything, of the 85th derby in Tehran. Last Wednesday, he should have been in the southern Iranian city of Abadan to judge a match. However, he made arrangements with the Iranian Football Federation and the Panel of Referees to stay in hospital and help quake victims instead.

Heidari works at a hospital in the city of Hamadan. He also teaches at university. At the same time, he is one of the elite football referees in Asia.

In an interview with the Persian-language Tasnim News Agency, he said although he was supposed to be the referee for a match in Abadan, he chose to stay in hospital and treat those injured in the devastating earthquake which rocked western Iran days ago.

He says he has performed several operations on the injured victims along with her colleagues. He draws a comparison between judging a match and saving patients’ lives. He says a wrong judgment in a match might upset 30 to 40 million people and fans of different teams. Likewise, he notes, if a doctor makes a mistake, it may risk the patient’s life.

Heidari says he tries to be present on the pitch and in the operating room with full physical and mental readiness.

The top story in all Iranian newspapers today was the full eradication of the ISIS terrorist group in Syria and Iraq. The eradication was declared by Iranian Major General Qassem Soleimani in a letter to the Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

The Leader, for his part, praised General Soleimani’s ‘great service to mankind’ through eradication of the vicious tree of ISIS.

Several papers also covered remarks by the European Union’s top diplomat Helga Schmid who ruled out the possibility of renegotiation of Iran nuclear deal during his visit to Iran.

Iran President Congratulates Lebanon on National Day

Iran President Congratulates Lebanon on National Day

In a message to his Lebanese counterpart Michel Aoun on Tuesday, Rouhani congratulated Aoun and the Lebanese nation on the country’s Independence Day.

He expressed confidence that Beirut could easily defuse all “fabricated” crises created against the Arab country under Aoun’s presidency through the unity of various political groups.

Lebanon gained independence from France 74 years ago, in 1943, when France was occupied by Germany during World War II.

On Tuesday, Michel Aoun and Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri attended a military parade in central Beirut, the first such celebration in two years, to mark the Independence Day.

Aoun, 81, secured the presidency in October 2016 by winning the support of 83 lawmakers, well above the absolute majority of 65 needed to win, Tasnim reported.

Lebanon had been without a head of state for 29 months after Michel Suleiman stepped down as president at the end of his term in May 2014.

Iran Says Enemies Distorting Image of Islam through Wahhabism

Ali Akbar Velayati

“The enemies of Islam are utilizing all their capabilities to keep Muslim countries in a state of chaos, secession, weakness, dissention and war so that they could maintain control on Muslims and plunder their wealth and impose economic, social, scientific and cultural backwardness on Muslims,” Velayati said on Wednesday addressing an international conference on ways to counter Takfiri and extremist ideologies in the Muslim world underway in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

He added, “The enemies of Islam are trying to portray an improper and dark image of Islam in accordance with Wahhabism which in fact is seeking to revive the pre-Islamic ignorance and promote violence and commit shameful murders such as beheading children, burning and imprisoning men and raping women”,

“Such satanic measures by the Americans, Zionists and Saudis have created such hate in the world that the perpetrators of these shameful crimes are shifting the blame on each other.”

Titled “The World Conference on Lovers of Ahl al-Bayt (AS) and the Takfiri Issue”, the two-day event opened in Tehran on Wednesday.

Following is the full text of his speech:

In the name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

All praise belong to Allah the Lord of the Worlds and peace and greetings to His last messenger Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and his infallible household and true companions

At the outset, I would like to congratulate you on the arrival of the illuminating and auspicious lunar calendar month ofRabi Avvaland the recent victories of the united Muslim Ummah in Syria and Iraq against the Takfiris who were seeking to create division among the Ummah.

Also, I am pleased to welcome you the distinguished guests from all across the Muslim world to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Moreover, I offer my condolence to the survivors and families of the victims of the recent powerful earthquake as well as the people of Iran and Iraq. I pray to the Almighty God to bestow his blessings upon those who were killed in this natural disaster.

Now I would like to humbly request you the distinguished audience to say prayers and now recite the Al Fatiha verse of the holy Quran and ask for the Almighty’s pardon for the victims of the quake and also the martyrs of Islam from the very early days of Islam to the recent sacrifice of the resistance front.

The great Ulema, jurists, scholars and dignitaries of the world of Islam who accepted the invitation of the World Forum for Islamic Awakening to participate in this conference are well aware that this meeting illuminated by the name of the infallible households of the holy prophet (peace be upon them) is being held under harsh regional and international circumstances.

The households of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) are considered as the divine strong rope (or Habl al-Matin) and one of the two weighty things (orSaqalayn) in addition to the holy Quran recommended by the holy prophet to us.

Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) says:

I am leaving among you two weighty things: the Book of Allah and my close relatives, who belong to my household. For indeed, the two will never separate until they come back to me by the Pond (of Kawthar on the Day of Judgment).

The Ulama of Islam have agreement over this noble hadith.

The households of holy prophet (PBUH) are in fact the selected people on earth. They are the treasures of piety and sources of generosity. They are the illuminating torch for guiding all Muslims towards progress, perfection and excellence. The households of the prophet are the vanguards of the fight against diversion and deviation, violence, extremism and ignorance. They are the flag-bearers of justice and the true interpreters of Islam and Quran. Resorting to the households of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon them) would guarantee unity among the faithful followers of prophet as well as guidance towards the Almighty God and saving from ignorance.

Distinguished participants

It was about seven years ago when Islamic Awakening came into birth. Islamic awakening which heralds a new stage in the political and social life of the Muslim Ummah, has three main features which are the fight against arrogance, Zionism and despotism. Islamic awakening is an anti-American and anti-Zionist wave which was spread in recent years to some Muslim states and resulted in the eradication of oppression, despotism and excessiveness. Islamic awakening also resulted in deposing dependent rulers and puppets and challenged the present international order.

The Islamic awakening movement has made remarkable achievements in some countries which relied on the teachings of the pure Mohammadic Islam in recent years. However, some of the political movements were deviated from the right path of Islamic awakening as the result of ignorance and lack of awareness and reliance on the promises of the hegemonic powers. Such movements were seeking to once again pave the grounds for the real enemies of Islam to rule the destiny of Muslims.

Under the circumstances of the past years, the Islamic Ummah was approaching a new era of civilization and role-playing in political, social, cultural and scientific arenas at the international level, and was about to spread the growing wave of Islamism based on the pure Islamic teachings; Yet, suddenly the Islamic Ummah faced difficult conditions as the result of increasing sectarianism, tribalism, ex-communication of various Islamic schools of thought and tribes and killing, displacement and bewilderment of innocent people in various parts of the Muslim world.

At the present time, many parts of the Muslim Ummah are facing enormous threats and grappling with a lot of problems such as non-peaceful and hostile approaches, violation of the rights of nations, plunder of the resources of Muslims, occupation of Muslim lands, proxy wars and changing mental, normative and value-oriented and knowledge-based infrastructure of Muslims by the inclusive support of hegemonic powers including the United States and the Zionist regime.

The enemies of Islam are utilizing all their capabilities to keep Muslim countries in a state of chaos, secession, weakness, dissention and war so that they could maintain control on Muslims and plunder their wealth and impose economic, social, scientific and cultural backwardness on Muslims.

The enemies of Islam are trying to portray an improper and dark image of Islam in accordance with Wahhabism which in fact is seeking to revive the pre-Islamic ignorance and promote violence and commit shameful murders such as beheading children, burning and imprisoning men and raping women.

Such satanic measures by the Americans, Zionists and Saudis have created such hate in the world that the perpetrators of these shameful crimes are shifting the blame on each other.

Dear Participants

Even though the present critical transition period in the West of Asia and other parts of the Islamic world is filled with dangers, threats and proxy wars, it faces unique opportunities, success and achievements which have resulted in increasing dignity and self-confidence among Muslim and freedom-seeking nations. On the other hand, the hegemony of the global arrogance and invincibility of the Zionist regime have been shattered among the Muslims of the region who are inflicting last strikes on them.

Syria and Iraq, as two main Muslim countries faced with the common plot of enemies in recent years tolerated heavy casualties and difficult incidents. During the past year, and as the result of the efforts of nations, governments, armies and volunteer forces of these countries supported by the Resistance Movement and the Islamic Republic of Iran made a lot of victories in the fight against terrorism and Takfiri groups. In recent weeks and days, the last territories occupied by Daesh in Iraq and Syria were released. This is a new achievement which is going to move these two countries and the whole region into a new stage.

Now, in this turbulent region, the oppressed people of Yemen remain under the oppression of the United States and its allies in shadow of the meaningful silence of the Western media outlets and international organizations. The defenseless people of Yemen are losing their lives under the brutal bombardment of Saudi forces. In Bahrain, domestic, regional and international conditions are getting risky and complicated. Yet, in spite of all such oppressions, a bright and hopeful future is awaiting the two great and resilient nations of Yemen and Bahrain as well as other nations of the Muslim world.Inshaallah.

And thus we have made you a just community that you will be witnesses over the people and the Messenger will be a witness over you. Wassalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu.

Lebanon PM Suspends Resignation upon Meeting with President Aoun

“I presented today my resignation to President Aoun and he urged me to wait before offering it and to hold onto it for more dialogue about its reasons and political background, and I showed responsiveness,” Hariri said in a televised statement upon returning to Beirut late Tuesday more than two weeks after announcing while in Saudi Arabia that he had resigned his post.

Hariri’s resignation on Nov. 4 was not accepted by President Michel Aoun, who said he wanted to hear from Hariri in person first. It was not clear whether Hariri will insist on his resignation, re-negotiate the terms for his re-appointment or withdraw his resignation as many hope.

Hariri’s televised resignation from Saudi Arabia had sparked a political and diplomatic crisis as Lebanese officials accused the Persian Gulf kingdom of forcing the Sunni, Saudi-aligned politician to resign and detaining him for days.

The premier cited Iran and its Lebanese ally Hezbollah’s meddling in the region as a reason for his decision to step down, and also cited concerns for his own safety in Lebanon. Hezbollah is a partner in the coalition government formed by Hariri a year ago.

Hariri has been silent since, and Lebanese are hoping his arrival in Lebanon will help clear up the mysterious circumstances surrounding his unusual resignation.

His resignation plunged Lebanon in turmoil and triggered concern that the tiny country, which has enjoyed relative calm amid a Middle East on fire, would again be dragged to the forefront of the intensifying regional rivalry between Saudi Arabia and Iran.

It set off international efforts, led by France, to prevent the upending of the country’s delicate sectarian-based political order.

He left Saudi Arabia for Paris on Saturday by invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, before traveling on to Beirut by way of Egypt and Cyprus. Hariri arrived in Beirut a private jet from Cyprus on Tuesday night, after meeting with Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades.

Hours after returning to the country following a nearly three week puzzling absence, Hariri participated in Independence Day celebrations Wednesday, his first official appearance since he suddenly announced his resignation from abroad, stunning the country.

On Wednesday, Hariri appeared on the parade’s grandstand with Aoun and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri in his first official appearance. Even if his resignation is accepted, Hariri would still be care-taker prime minister until a new government is formed.

Hariri cracked a smile after a brief chat with Aoun as they reviewed the troops. In previous appearances since his resignation, Hariri looked mostly tense, tired or sad.

Hariri then drove a car with Berri to the presidential palace, where he met with Aoun and Berri privately as is customary after the parade. He was to meet later with supporters at his residence in the city center.

Posters have been erected around Beirut and other cities welcoming Hariri’s return.

The announcement that he was stepping down was followed by sharp Saudi rhetoric against Hezbollah, which the kingdom accuses of meddling on Iran’s behalf in regional affairs.

Hezbollah has been fighting on the side of Syria’s Bashar Assad in that country’s six-year civil war, where many of Assad’s enemies are opposition backed by Saudi Arabia. The kingdom says Hezbollah is also advising Houthi rebels waging a war against Yemen’s Saudi-backed government. Hezbollah denies it is militarily supporting the Houthis.

Hezbollah says Saudi Arabia is sowing instability in Lebanon, and accused the kingdom of partnering with Israel to start a war with Lebanon.

Hariri, in his only in depth interview since announcing his resignation, told his media station Future TV that he could retract his resignation if a deal could be struck with his opponents to distance Lebanon from regional conflicts.

At France’s invitation, Hariri left Saudi Arabia to Paris on Saturday. He then traveled to Beirut on Tuesday, stopping first in Cairo and Cyprus for visits with the two countries’ presidents.

Syria’s Future Not in Hands of Foreign Powers: Iran President

Rouhani on Wednesday emphasized that it is up to the Syrian people to decide their own fate.

Speaking in Tehran before departing for the Russian city of Sochi, Rouhani noted that the Arab nation’s future “will not be in the hands of foreign powers.”

He also said that any attempt to change geographical borders in the region will fail, vowing the Islamic Republic’s resolve to continue its fight against terrorists until their eradication.

He further hailed the victories of Iraqi and Syrian nations in the face of terrorists, highlighting the role of Iran and Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement in the regional fight against terror.

“These achievements do not mean that the issue of terrorism and ISIS no longer exists. But [the terror group’s] foundations have fallen apart,” which means it does not control any territory where it can claim statehood.

He said Iran knew from the very first day that using terrorists by certain states as a tool to push their own agendas would never succeed; that attempts to change geographical borders in the region would eventually fail; and that American and Israeli interference would not produce their desired results.

The Iranian chief executive voiced concerns about the security situation in the Middle East, and criticized attempts by Washington and Tel Aviv to fan the flames of tension in the region.

President Rouhani also said that the Iranian government and nation will continue their fight against terrorists until they are completely uprooted, Press TV reported.

He further expressed hope that the Sochi summit will help pave the way for the Syrian nation to build a “good future.”

Rouhani is now in the Black Sea resort city of Sochi to attend a tripartite meeting with his Russian and Turkish counterparts on the ongoing conflict in Syria.

Yemeni, Palestinian Groups Condemn Arab League’s Anti-Hezbollah Statement

Hezbollah

The groups described the statement of Arab League foreign ministers following their emergency meeting in Cairo as dangerous and said Hezbollah is the most significant force standing against the Zionist regime’s aggression and terrorism, a Farsi report by IRNA said.

The Palestinian groups said accusing Hezbollah of conducting terrorist attacks is aimed at offering services to the US and the Zionist regime and satisfying Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, former President of the Revolutionary Council of Yemen, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, said as expected the emergency meeting of the Arab League foreign ministers ended in no tangible result.

“The meeting had no result and was held on request of Saudi Arabia, which intended to say it will not sit idle towards the regional developments,” he said on his twitter account.

During the Arab League meeting, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said his country will not stand idly by in the face of Iran’s “blatant aggression”.

The Yemeni politician went on to say Arab League was expected to discuss Israel’s threats including its atomic weapons instead of pointing the blame finger at Hezbollah.

On Sunday, the Arab League foreign ministers held an extraordinary general meeting in the Egyptian capital at the request of Saudi Arabia. At the end of the meeting, the participants issued a statement accusing Iran of interfering in the internal affairs of the countries in the region and pursuing aggressive policies against Arab states.
